Shieldzone question (not about discoloration)

I recently ordered the full shieldzone kit for my blackbook. I was wondering if this product can be reused or once I stick it, I'm stuck? I was just worried that if I accidently install it crooked I won't be about to fix it. Is this stuff basically just thick tape? I was also concerned that there may be marks left after the removal, any experiences? Either way 54 bucks is alot to pay for pre-cut tape... but probably a must-have with these fragile machines!

You do have to work with it a bit to position it right. The routine is make sure you use a lot of the included spray lubicant. Spray the heck out of the ShieldZone. You can generally lift it up afterwards, if it is still wet. The risk of doing that is lint could creep in and a bubble will form at that spot.
Take your time and keep it lubricated. Be that when you use the squeege, that you keep pressure on the opposite end, or the whole piece will travel on you.
The kit I got included a bottom piece. I elected not to use that since I keep my MacBook on a lapdesk. That gave me extra material to work with. Using a large paper cutter, I trimmed 1/2" wide pieces to cover the left / right areas of the keyboard bezel.
How do I like the stuff? Well, it is "OK". It is too rubbery in my opinion after using it a few days. But, that rubbery part of its design does keep it from getting scratched. Don't put it on your trackpad. You won't like it. But, do put it on your trackpad button.
You might experiment with laminate from Office Depot, as recommended by another user here. Also, LCD screen sheets for iPods, GPS receivers, cell phones could be good candiates.

  • Another iPod/AirPort Express Question (Not About Charging)

I was wondering if it is possible to sync your iPod with your computer through AirPort Express? The "Do Not Disconnect" screen that it popped up when I connected it gave me the indication that it was connected with my computer, but nothing on my laptop indicated that.
I'm asking out of both curiosity and a desire for convenience. If i can charge/sync from one thing, that saves an outlet (Especially with how large the iPod charger and Airport Express are)
MacBook Pro 1.83 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi LukeM:
To my understanding, NO, you can't use the USB port on your AE to sync your iPod or charge it.
This may help as well: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107857
Sorry! Sounds like a great idea tho!

  • My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?

My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?
I do not want this to happen, as with previous experience iTunes doesn't restore a mirror of what the iPhone was when it was backed up as is the case with iCloud backups.
What I am trying to do is, as I've found a method on Youtube, there is an application where I can delete all the multimedia saved in my 'iMessages' so clear up some space. As doing that manually through the phone would take a lifetime. The method is to backup on iTunes, then using the backup created, importing that into the application then deleting the messages through that then restoring the phone using that amended backup.
So back to my question, would restoring through 'Restore Backup' just restore the backup internally or would it flush the entire phone and then restore the backup? And if it does so, what would be lost in the restore?
    Thank you all,
    Fahmid

iCloud should overwrite your phone with the data stored in your account, preserving your newer data.  However, to be sure I would go to Settings>iCloud and turn data syncing to Off before restoring the backup.  Then, after restoring the backup, turn the data syncing back to on, and when prompted about Merging with iCloud, choose Don't Merge.  This will ensure that the data in your iCloud account overwrites the data on your phone (which is your goal).
Also, you don't sync text messages with iCloud so you will end up losing your more recent messages when they are overwritten by the backup.

  • Help with iPhone 4 [Not about antenna, proximity etc.]

Hi, it's not about antenna issue or proximity issue.
Basically my mother fiddled with my iPhone 4 lol!
When she gave it back to me there's a "lock" image beside the battery which I never seen before. WHen I asked her what she did, she said she doesn't know. She's not familiar with iphone
Well my question is, does anybody recognise the "lock" symbol beside the battery? I want to remove it but I don't know how to. I tried looking through the settings but i can't seem to find what is it or where to disable/remove it.
I can't describe it but I have an image of the i4 below. It's not very clear but hopefully you can see it.

That is orientation lock - stops the screen rotating when you turn phone.
To take it off - double click home scroll to left hand end of icon list and touch the icon that looks like a bigger version of the one on screen.

  • Airport network speed - quick answer (and a note about audio drop offs)

I saw this question come up a lot when i was reading how to stop the airport express from dropping the audio signal... **How much bandwidth is all this using?**
Quick answer is about a half a Megabit per second on my network. yipes.
to check for yourself (...if you're using XP...), press control-alt-delete to open the Task Manager, then go to the Networking tab. You'll be able to see your usage there. Multiply the percent of Network Utilization by the Link Speed (for me, about 9% times by 11Mbps = 1Mbit used per second, but I stream 2 connections at all times, so that's where we get 1/2 Mb)...keep in mind that your network utilization is really determined by your router's make and configuration, as well as (and this is the real factor) the amount of collisions and interference in your network.
*and a note about a healthy airport signal and audio drop offs*
... looking at the Networking tab, you shouldn't see an eratic graph (it shouldnt jump back and forth from 0% to 100% and back). a few high spikes every few seconds is ok, even rising to 100% is expected, but if your average network usage is too high (say 20%), there's too much interference. secure your network (WEP enable) and/or filter the MAC addresses. AND play around with the wireless channel used for boradcasting. really.. try it... try all the channels... i got really discouraged reading all the voodoo answers on other posts. (personally, i stayed on channel 6,... i rebooted my whole network of computers and routers at once and that got rid of the congestion for me... for now)
...and if all else fails, call 800 275 2273 for tech support.

    Selamat Phil Smith,
Actually do we know each other, cause i know a phil smith.
Actually an ether net cable is OK for the short term. But if i get another computer it may get complex. Spent a lot removing cables too.... Looks like i will have to buy the special modem router... Painful $600.
This share internet thing over airport looks like a great idea till you realise it disables access to the ariport network for the computer doing the sharing.
Cheers and thanks for the idea

  • Question unanswered about enabling JavaScript

There was a question/response about enabling/disabling JavaScript by using "about:config"
Another question in the responses added another question, which I also have:

I am now running NoScript which I know blocks JavaScript, but it was happening before I started NoScript.
I hope someone can answer that question now.

  • Conditional Expressions and the note about state-field's serialized form

There's a note about state-field's serialized form in 4.6 Conditional expression chapter. Could anyone help me understanding it? It's on the page 88.
State-fields that are mapped in serialized form or as lobs may not be portably used in conditional expressions[26].
What's the serialized form? I think I understand what lobs might mean, but some additional explanation or a code snippet would be greatly appreciated.

But that's my point. In the original expression the ++k and --k are evaluated first so the whole thing goes down as you described.  I agree completely.  But in the second case the term k is a urnary operator which would have higher precedence than the + or --- operators and therefore would be evaluated first while k is still equal to 1. Then again maybe I'm confused !
Maybe I'll just compile the program and see what I get...

the person who can best give you the right answer is no other than the person who gave you that question.
with that limited information you gave me, it's quite difficult for me to point you in the right direction as i don't know the whole picture of your problem.
if you would insist so, i would say take up the ff courses:

    2. PL/SQL
    3. Oracle Reports
    3. Oracle Forms
    4. Oracle Portal/Collaboration suite

and these will take you some time to accomplish.

LaCie doesnt make ANYTHING.  It contains a Seagate 3.5" 5400RPM HD.
Check the HD on another computer, if nothing, your SATA bridge is fried, or the HD (very unlikely since its a Seagate inside)
Youd have to crack open the HD, remove the SATA bridge cart thats plugged into the HD and put the HD into an enclosure or a HD dock to get the data
those external HD use a 50 cent SATA bridge famous for failing.  The curse of all the good HD externals is the junk 3rd party SATA bridges attached to them that crash and burn.
