Shift Dates in Aperture?

I have a set of photos that were imported in iPhoto and the film roll in iPhoto contained the correct date, but evidently the EXIF data from the camera says they were a year older than what they actually were! Is there a quick way to batch-shift these photos' dates +1 year?
Anyone know of a way to quickly script this perhaps in Automator or Apple Script?

more research:
the camera and image time zones are stored in Other tags and can be read/written by AppleScript. it might be possible to change the image's date (even by 1 year as in your case) by repeatedly changing the time zones. I'd need to fully understand how the time zones work before writing the script.
the AppleScript terms for the time zone tags are:
  custom tag "cameraTimeZoneName", and
  custom tag "imageTimeZoneName"
they are strings, probably made up from the same values that build the Time Zone popup menu in the Batch Change dialog. for example, the imageTimeZoneName for one of my images is "Etc/GTM+8".
but it's important to remember that the time zone changes only apply to the image version, not to the master.
a better solution might be to export the masters, use an EXIF-savvy app to change the EXIF date and re-import the masters into Aperture.

  • How to batch change a date in aperture

Is it possible to batch change a date in aperture the way I do it in iphoto (command option B)?  I dont want relative dates, I want a group of scanned pictures (negatives) to have the same date, but separated by one second.

    Dale,
Aperture does not support this. I wrote a little Apple Script to adjust the data and time like iPhoto and posted it on my web page. You may have a look and take this as a starting point. I wrote the script last year; so it has only been tested with Aperture 3.2.4 and Lion, not with the current version: The script is here: Adjust Date and Time in fixed increments
But no guarantees given for the current Aperture version 3.4.3.

  • Shift data to emty fields...

    HI experts
I have one reqirement in which i need to shift fields with data to without data..
    E.g
If internal table 2nd field is empty and 3rd field is having data then it should shift data to 2nd field...

    Hi,
    Just use like this.
    If itab-field1 is initial.
        Move itab-field2 to itab-field1.
         Endif.
P.S But make sure that both fields are of same data type and no loss of data is happening.
    Thanks

I am trying to organize thousands of old images in aperture.  Aperture dates them all in 2008, when I started this project.  When I change the date in aperture some of them hold the modified date and some revert to 2008.  Any ideas?

I just tried a test library, re-imported fresh images from a hard drive, and the date changes still revert.
So neither your external drive nor your Aperture library are to blame.
What do you mean test in a different user acct?  Would it be a good idea to uninstall and re-download aperture 3?
    Appreciate all your help.
I meant the trouble shooting procedure described here:  Isolating an issue by using another user account
To test, if some settings in your user account are faulty or preferences files corrupted, it helps to create a new user account from the "Users&Groups" System preferences. With a brand new user account you can see, if something in your current account is causing this.
Should you see, that Aperture is not even working from a new and clean account, I'd reinstall Aperture, and if need be the Operating system.  Are you using any plug-ins?

  • Custom batch rename files with Aperture 3 in the following format: IMG_0023.cr2 to Smith_YYMMDD_0023.cr2?  I cannot find a way to structure the date in Aperture as such, as well as extract only the camera file

Please advise how to custom batch rename files with Aperture 3 in the following format: IMG_0023.cr2 to Smith_120816_0023.cr2?  I cannot find a way to structure the date in Aperture as such (YYMMDD), as well as extract only the camera file (0023, for example).  Adobe Bridge CS5 can do this, but NONE of the Adobe software is retina optimized, and is terrible to look at.

In Aperture you are limited to renaming files by the entries in the File Naming preset window.
At what point are you looking to rename, import or export? It might be possible to do what you are looking to do external to Aperture either via a script or other software.

  • Shifting data from PostgreSQL database to Oracle database

    hello folks,
as i want to have an environment of many database servers of PostgreSQL databases on linux redhat 8.0 and one main database server of Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 on linux redhat 8.0;so that transections may go on PostgreSQL databases and Oracle database server would be used as a central repository to facilitate our data warehousing needs,I want to know how to shift data from PostgreSQL database to an Oracle database at the end of the day. What to do? From where can i get its documentation.
Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.
    Regards.
    Muhammad Umar Liaquat.

Since you're going to want to move the data regularly, I'd suggest looking into the Oracle Transparent Gateways (Heterogenous Services). This should let you create database links in Oracle that connect to each of the PostgreSQL databases. Then, you just have to write the appropriate select/insert statements.

  • This is how to add extra Exif data to Aperture :-)

    Folks
Often I need additional Exif data in Aperture - which is not available in the standard install.
For example - exactly which lens did I use - not just a focal lenght - which might be any one of various lenses I have.
Or - which focus point was used?
    The list is endless...

A neat combination of an AppleScript and ExifTool
    Go for it
    Brian

    Hi,
I'm the "author", if you can call it that, since most of the script is, as someone earlier mentioned, Brett Gross' work. I was the one that glued exiftool to it and got it working with my Aperture setup. I am looking at the various problems that have popped up on dpreview and with personal correspondence and trying to find solutions.
But it isn't easy. As Charles said, the Aperture dictionary isn't helpful in that regard. And with the flexibility that Aperture provides in naming is the curse here. And all the variables with versions, external edits, etc. It gets very complicated. But if you look at the thread on dpreview, someone has possibly found a way to query the SQL database to make it all work smoothly.
It is very easy to do this stuff at import. I am just putting the finishing touches on an Automator action to import the files and add the EXIF data (it will even query GeoNames and add the city, state & country IPTC data if there is GPS data present in the file).

  • Time shift data feature

Lately there has been a need by many individuals to shift data for one reason or another.  Possibly the data was collected without using a trigger to synch everything or just collected with an inevitable delay.
Would R&D look into a function that could mark two points in a customer's data and then align/shift the data so a comparison may be done of one data set against another?
    Thanks!

Feature is released with DIAdem 2015: Please use "Synchronize Data from Different Files" in panel ANALYSIS/Channel Functions

  • Pentax K-x RAW color shift problem with Aperture 3

I have seen a few posts similar to what my problem is but not exactly.I have two Pentax K-200D's and a new Pentax K-x. I shoot RAW with all of them and the K-200D's work great. The RAW files however from the K-x are doing something strange. Sometimes (more and more though) the files are being imported into Aperture and there is a radical color shift after they finish loading. ALL of the preview thumbnails look fine in the camera and the Aperture import window. However, after importing them and processing is complete, some of the shots have a magenta color shift, but most that have this problem shift radically to a green tint. Everybody looks like they are in "The Matrix."
I do not have any brightness correction on the camera turned on as other posts imply might be the problem. I have also remove the Aperture RAW 3.2 and tried 3.0 and 3.1 with no solution. 3.0 doesn't recognize the files at all and 3.1 does the same thing as 3.2. Here are two examples of UNEDITED RAW files:
Frame that looks fine in RAW
    http://gallery.me.com/mattcline#100470/IMGP5982&bgcolor=black
The next frame taken with the same settings on the camera:
    http://gallery.me.com/mattcline#100470/IMGP5983&bgcolor=black
I do have one possible pattern. I had the camera set on rapid fire capture. It appears to me that the first frame I take when the shutter button is depressed looks and translates fine. All the subsequent frames take in rapid fire under the same shutter release have the green shift when taking shots in relative shade. Things taken in bright sunlight have the magenta shift.
Any ideas on what is going on or how to fix this?
    Thanks.

I just downloaded Apple's RAW 3.3 and it still made no difference.
Going back over the files, I found that going back and forth between the two, see no difference in the RAW processing headings. I did see however that in the meta data that the two pictures I have in the example of those listed above have one difference. There is a setting on the Exposure Bias for the one that was fine was -0.3 ev and the one that has the green contrast blast has an Exposure Bias of 0.3 ev. So the one that looks right is slightly negative. Doesn't seem like that should be a big difference, but apparently it is.
I did take some pictures with the RAW+JPG setting and I had the same problem with the RAW files. Some were ok, some were green, others were magenta shifted. However, all the JPG files looked just fine.
Switching from Aperture isn;t really an option for me. I have been using it for a long time and it generally works very well...perfectly with my K-200D's. It's just some bug with the RAW decoder for the K-x.
It's a known bug and I have been in touch with Apple staff over it, including engineers. It's not just the K-x. Other brands (Canon) and models suffer from the RAW processor gone wrong.
Right now there is no fix. At the pace Apple works at, there may not be one for quite some time. Use JPEG, use iPhoto, or move to Lightroom.
Another suggestion is to phone customer service and complain that their "Pro" program is not working as expected. I spent hours with an engineer going over the issue including a screen share session, only to be told to use JPEG.

  • Shift Date and Times

I went on a trip with some friends and started organizing and soon found out that one person had their camera set 193 days off. Is there a way through aperture or with plugins to just shift the metadata dates because All I can see is an overall date adjustment. I found a plugin for iphoto that can do it but I'd love to see something like that for aperture. Any clues?..

You're right. It did shift the rest. The only thing now is the year. I haven't found anything to change the year up 1... I just wish my friend was a bit more tech savvy enough to have his camera at the right date.

I scanned a document into Aperture. Now, when I look at the individual pages I get the time each page was put into Aperture (right downto the second) in the left hand column ( I am using the Stock black theme)  I don't want a date.

  • Batch Change Dates in Aperture

I want to batch change hundreds of images in 1 event (or project) in Aperture 3 to be timed apart by the time designation I set forth on the batch process. I have easily done this in iPhoto 8 by selecting all the photos, ctrl-clicking "batch change" and changing the date to be set for a given time, and adding 1 minute to each photo.
I'm building a book by interleaving 2 events of scanned images by their times. It works great in iPhoto, but I can't process the images like I can in Aperture.
If anyone knows how to batch change dates as in the above procedure, let me know. Thanks.

I've been using ABFR and ABFA from http://www.publicspace.net/index.html to change thousands of images in the Finder that had incorrect time/date stamps and used ABFR to pre-fix the file names with the correct date stamp. You can also setup a batch droplet based on your settings.
It was able to grab the camera date, even though the created/modified dates were wrong and correct things.
May or may not be what you are after, but for batch renaming/adjusting attributes I haven't found anything better.

  • GPS data in Aperture not saved to files

    Hi there
I have been using Aperture for a while and love it! Recently I purchased a DSLR and upon importing into Aperture, I manually added the locations to the files. Whenever I view the places feature for my library, I can see pins on the map so I know its been saved correctly.
When I imported the files, I ensured the import was "file system" and so hopefully Aperture doesnt save it into it's own library.
Unfortuantely, when I try and view the EVIF GPS data in Photoshop for these files, the GPS value is empty. If I manually export the file, the data is there, but somehow the files are smaller in file size (even though I chose JPEG Original Size).
Is there a way for me to make GPS changes in Aperture and for it to be automatically saved to the actual file instead of me going through the process of exporting it?
    Thanks!

Aperture does write the GPS data only to the versions, when you are assigning a place, not to the EXIF tags of the original files.
So you will need to export the edited version to write the GPS to an image file.
If I manually export the file, the data is there, but somehow the files are smaller in file size (even though I chose JPEG Original Size).
"JPEG Original Size" refers to the pixel size, not the file size. You could try to increase the image quality settings in the "JPEG Original Size" export preset. Select this preset in the export panel and then switch to "Edit". This will allow you to increase the "image Quality" by adjusting the slider. Or select a "Tiff" preset, to export losslessly.
Another work-around would be to use exiftool to set the GPS tags on your originals, if you are experienced with the Terminal (see:                  Modifying EXIF tags of Originals Using exiftool: camera, lens, gps)
I usually do the geocoding before importing the image files to Aperture with Jetphoto Studio, but that is not a free application.

  • How can I read Olympus SXIF data in Aperture?

I can read the EXIF data in the Olympus View 2 software, but I can't see it in Aperture. Is there any way to do this?

You need to change your screen name to Rip Van Winkle
As I wrote previously Aperture will display what it can display. There are no other commands to access the EXIF data.  Most cameras have something missing or not reported fully. The EXIF data is highly manufacturer and camera dependent and things fall through the cracks.
It is possible over time as updates come out more data will be displayed. You should use the Aperture->Provide Aperture Feedback form to let them know what data is missing from your camera.

  • How to shift dates in a chart for series

I need to create chart as show on picture http://vp.hu.cz/bi1.jpg. This chart show daily comparation of some measure for last five years.
There are dates and days of last year on the horizontal axe. (Mon 4.5, Thu 5.5, Wed 6.5). I need shift values for previous years so that first Monday will be displayed on first Monday and so. For example values for first Wednesday will be at these dates: 5.1.2000, 3.1.2001, 2.1.2002, 1.1.2003
    How can I do it?
I am able to do it on SQL level - I compute new date (first Monday in Year is always 1.1.) and then I can join those tables. But I look for better solution.
