Does anybody know how to get rid of ' shift + r improves the quality of this image', this is affecting most of the images i look at. It never used to be an issue??

that is exactly what you see with some usb modem connections - the 'Modify Headers' add-on should sort Firefox out (at the expense of slower loading & more data usage).
a safari solution is mentioned here, but it's a bit old, with no documentation I can see. I'd hope there to be an extension by now which will deal with it - try https://extensions.apple.com/en-us/ or even the isp's pages may have a way to disable it.

I've written a program for batch resizing Jpegs which is working fairly funky however the quality of the resized images could be a bit better. Is there any way of doing a smoother resize of the images ? I'm currently using:

Also I'm having trouble with some Jpegs taken with my friends digital camera. When I resize the vertical (480*640) ones the colours get all messed up while the horizontal (640*480) ones turn out fine. This only happens with Jpegs from his camera ! The colour scrambling looks very similar to what I was getting with all Jpegs when I used the below code to resize images:

How to improve the quality of the quick time movie file
When I press command + option + enter, the graphics looks very good but when I look at the quick time mov I saved, its so bad. It's fine if I 'drag' the quick time window to the smallest but when I look at it in full screen mode, the picture is so bad... What can I do to improve the quality?

Flash CS4 I am using, action script 3.0The text in your original Flash movie is a vector representation. The text is drawn to the screen using a mathematical structure that is resolution independent and so the text will look crisp and sharp regardless of the enlargement or reduction of the image. When you take this Flash movie and export it as a compressed video file using the Quicktime file format, you are turning that vector image into a raster image. The compressor that you choose when exporting the file to Quicktime takes the text as it sits on the stage, at whatever that stage size is, and records the pixels. These pixels are then compressed by one means or another to produce a manageable file that can be played back in a linear method using the Quicktime player.
In other words, there's a lot going on in that export. Flash works best when it can work with just vector artwork. Flash is a runtime playback tool. The Flash file is stored as a set of instructions for the Flash player to execute when the user plays the file. Quicktime is a file format. The Quicktime player reads the comressed file and decompresses that file as it plays. It is a linear process. It starts at the beginning and goes until it stops. Quicktime's compressors take the original content and compress that content by storing the information about the pixels that make up the file. Quicktime, and all of the other video file wrappers, play back best when the final file is played at the same size and frame rate as the original. Like any pixel based image, the quality of the image degrades as it is enlarged.
Some compressors can provide a better quality image when enlarged, some don't. There is no 1,2,3 for creating great QT from Flash. You'll need to work through the compromises of original stage size, video compressor, audio compressor, output size, frame rate, color depth, video keyframing, etc. What works very well for one file will work less well for another file. -

Is it possible to improve the quality of an MP3 file by converting to aiff?

I am contemplating the costs/benefits of purchasing digital downloads of mp3/mp4 files instead of purchasing actual cds. I am aware that the MP files are compressed and are thus lower quality. I have already purachased some digital music, from Amazon, and am now burning cds. While creating playlists and burning, I noticed the option 'convert to aiff'. I did this with one album. I now have doubles of each track of that album, the original mp3 and the converted aiff. The aiff file size of one song, for example, is 71MB compared to 12MB for the mp3 version.
Did my aiff conversion do anything to improve the quality of my mp3 files? If so, to what extent? E.g., how close is the quality to that of a cd? The added file size of the aiff must represent some difference. I am asking because I am skeptical that my converting an mp3 using itunes could improve the quality of that with which I began...i.e., the mp3 file. Is this conversion effectively 'uncompressing' the mp3?
If an aiff conversion increases quality, I see no reason to worry about mp3 compression. It would make sense, economically, to purcahse mp3s and then convert to aiff, saving time, money, and transportation costs.
Finally, is there anyway to convert to aiff just for the purpose of creating one playlist and then burning so that I do not have to maintain double files in my library? Thanks for answers.All you accomplished by converting the file to AIFF was to make the file much larger. As AnaMusic said, there's no way to put back the information that was lost during the process of compressing to MP3. If you want CD quality, you'll either need to buy the CDs and import them yourself or see if the album is available through one of the download stores that sell music in CD quality or better, such as iTrax, HDTracks or eClassical. They've only been able to license a small subset of what's available, but you might be fortunate.

both BSIS selects would become faster if you can add Company Code BUKRS as 1st field of WHERE clause, because it's the 1st field of primary key and HKONT is the 2nd field of primary key.
If you have no table index with HKONT as 1st field it's a full database access.
If possible, try to add BUKRS as 1st field of WHERE clause, otherwise ask for an additional BSIS index at your basis team.

iTunes purchases are at 256k in AAC format. If you want better than that you'll need to purchase elsewhere. You can rerip your CDs at your preferred bitrate. If you have some older itunes purchases these could be in 128k protected AAC format. Every now and again the iTunes Store offers links to upgrade such tracks to the current format for a smaller fee than purchasing new copies.

But one point can be a problem, this is when you said "I need to insert these rows, after some processing on them". What does that means after some processing ?
Please give us more information about all your process, maybe the problem doesn't come from the insert itself ?
And why the APPEND hint cannot be an answer ?
And why create table cannot be an answer ?
What time did you expected for insert of these 500 millions of rows ?

Improving the quality of the mx:Glow filter
How can you control the quality of the mx:Glow filter? At the
moment all my filters are square shaped. Using the
flash.filters.GlowFliter class, the quality can be changed so that
the filter rounds up in shape (1 or 2 give you a square-shaped
glow) but, the mx:Glow does not seem to have such a property. Is
there a walk-around solution to this problem?

You shouldn't need to take a snapshot of the PDF - it can be placed into indesign using File>Place. If it is a multi-page PDF, hold down shift when you click Place and the import options dialog will appear. You can choose the page that you need and once the PDF is placed you can crop or resize to suit.
Please bear in mind that Indesign only shows a low-resolution proxy for placed images. You can see a higher resolution preview by changing your view settings to high quality display.

How do I control the quality of JPEG images?
I've written a program that scales a set of JPEG images down to various dimensions. I'm happy with the speed of execution, but quality of the images could be better. How do I specify the quality of the JPEG images I create? In graphics editors, I'm given the option of controlling the lossy-ness (?) of JPEGs when I save them, either reducing image qualify to shrink the file size or vice versa. How can I do this programmatically?

Perfomance Techniques for improve the perfomance of the object.
1) ABAP/4 programs can take a very long time to execute, and can make other processes have to wait before executing. Here are some tips to speed up your programs and reduce the load your programs put on the system:
2) Use the GET RUN TIME command to help evaluate performance. It's hard to know whether that optimization technique REALLY helps unless you test it out.
3) Using this tool can help you know what is effective, under what kinds of conditions. The GET RUN TIME has problems under multiple CPUs, so you should use it to test small pieces of your program, rather than the whole program.
4) Generally, try to reduce I/O first, then memory, then CPU activity. I/O operations that read/write to hard disk are always the most expensive operations. Memory, if not controlled, may have to be written to swap space on the hard disk, which therefore increases your I/O read/writes to disk. CPU activity can be reduced by careful program design, and by using commands such as SUM (SQL) and COLLECT (ABAP/4).
5) Avoid 'SELECT *', especially in tables that have a lot of fields. Use SELECT A B C INTO instead, so that fields are only read if they are used. This can make a very big difference.
6) Field-groups can be useful for multi-level sorting and displaying. However, they write their data to the system's paging space, rather than to memory (internal tables use memory). For this reason, field-groups are only appropriate for processing large lists (e.g. over 50,000 records). If you have large lists, you should work with the systems administrator to decide the maximum amount of RAM your program should use, and from that, calculate how much space your lists will use. Then you can decide whether to write the data to memory or swap space.
Use as many table keys as possible in the WHERE part of your select statements.
7)Whenever possible, design the program to access a relatively constant number of records (for instance, if you only access the transactions for one month, then there probably will be a reasonable range, like 1200-1800, for the number of transactions inputted within that month). Then use a SELECT A B C INTO TABLE ITAB statement.
8) Get a good idea of how many records you will be accessing. Log into your productive system, and use SE80 -> Dictionary Objects (press Edit), enter the table name you want to see, and press Display. Go To Utilities -> Table Contents to query the table contents and see the number of records. This is extremely useful in optimizing a program's memory allocation.
9) Try to make the user interface such that the program gradually unfolds more information to the user, rather than giving a huge list of information all at once to the user.
10) Declare your internal tables using OCCURS NUM_RECS, where NUM_RECS is the number of records you expect to be accessing. If the number of records exceeds NUM_RECS, the data will be kept in swap space (not memory).
11) Use SELECT A B C INTO TABLE ITAB whenever possible. This will read all of the records into the itab in one operation, rather than repeated operations that result from a SELECT A B C INTO ITAB... ENDSELECT statement. Make sure that ITAB is declared with OCCURS NUM_RECS, where NUM_RECS is the number of records you expect to access.
12) If the number of records you are reading is constantly growing, you may be able to break it into chunks of relatively constant size. For instance, if you have to read all records from 1991 to present, you can break it into quarters, and read all records one quarter at a time. This will reduce I/O operations. Test extensively with GET RUN TIME when using this method.
13) Know how to use the 'collect' command. It can be very efficient.
14) Use the SELECT SINGLE command whenever possible.
15) Many tables contain totals fields (such as monthly expense totals). Use these avoid wasting resources by calculating a total that has already been calculated and stored.
Some tips:
1) Use joins where possible as redundant data is not fetched.
2) Use select single where ever possible.
3) Calling methods of a global class is faster than calling function modules.
4) Use constants instead of literals
5) Use WHILE instead of a DO-EXIT-ENDDO.
6) Unnecessary MOVEs should be avoided by using the explicit work area operations
