Shift to hand tool with space bar

I have Photoshop CC on a Mac running Mavericks, 16 gb memory.
While working on an image, the space bar stopped calling up the hand tool while depressed. I tried quitting Photoshop, no good. I tried restarting computer, it worked, for a little while, then went away again.
Is this a Photoshop issue, and how do I fix it? Or is it a Mac issue?

Might be a Mac issue. I have the same issue when I upgraded to Win 8.1, but others don't have this issue. Might be just my make of computer.
Still trying to find a cause also.

After updating to CC (photoshop14.2 & illustrator 17.1), the hand tool is not active with space bar.
Would really like a solution.
I couldn't solve by deleting preference files.

I've been using the Space-bar for Full Screen Preview for years, & thousands of times with no problems whatsoever.
Suddenly it's become intermittent, sometimes it works "normally", other times I have to tap the Space Bar several times---The image "jitters" on the screen, & eventually works---sometimes takes "a few" taps, sometimes a half dozen or more.
Purging Cache didn't help, nor did replacing the Keyboard with another one.
I don't recall if the CS6 disk has a Bridge "Repair" function.

Page Up and Down with space bar

After I installed Safari 3.0.5, when I press the space bar typing this post, the web page goes down. I want to know if somebody else get the same problem, and how do I prevent that? or maybe is a new bug.
With Safari 3.0.4 this keyboard shortcut works ok. (page up and down) but not when typing.

I have the same problem. Everytime i hit the spacebar in this text box, the browser tries to scroll down and looks like flashing.
Is there any fix for this? It happens in every web page with text box (including the google search box).

The Library window cannot be viewed or pulled up, though I can play music with space bar?

I am experiencing the weirdest problem with iTunes. I opt to launch an alternate iTunes Library by holding down the Option key when opening iTunes. I have an entirely separate iTunes Library for work purposes.
When I locate and select my alternative iTunes Library, the program opens, but the Library window cannot be viewed. I can only view the Equalizer window. My music content seems to be there, as when I hit the space bar, some music plays (it seems like it is set on a particular playlist). I can freely switch between these tracks with the keyboard options, but I have no way of accessing everything else offered by the Library window. =(
This is distressing because I have a lot of graphics and and organized project playlists of media for work purposes.
I am running iTunes 9.0.2 (25) on PowerPC 10.4.11. I'm wondering if there's a chance that I have not loaded this alternate Library since I updated iTunes from 8 to 9.
Does this make sense to anyone? I would greatly appreciate any assistance or suggestions!
Is it easy to uninstall an itunes version, or possible to install an older version in place of a newer version?
Of course, my personal music iTunes Library loads the Library window without issue, so I'm not sure how this could have happened. Could it be an issue with the Library asset files?

Why won't words move sometimes with space bar?

Sometimes I can't get the first word of a sentence to move over with my space bar. It will move with the Tab button, but I only want to move it a couple of spaces over.
Sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't let me. Anyone have the solution?

Issue with space bar

Im using Mountain Lion, and when I am typing for example something like "sportia vois " (and at the end click the space bar) the text changes to "sportif vois" and the cursor moves in front of the letter "v"...
What's going on?

I may be wrong but it sounds like an auto correct thing.

J'ai un petit souci sous Photoshop CS6 et je n'ai pas pu le résoudre malgré mes bouquins, et mes recherches sur Internet.
Il s'agit de la barre espace qui ne fonctionne pas pour utiliser l'outil main.
L'outil main fonctionne bien quand je le sélectionne au niveau de la palette.
Quand je travaille sur une image, par exemple avec l'outil plume, si j'appuie sur la barre espace, la petite main apparaît bien, mais je n'arrive pas à me déplacer avec la souris dans l'image.
L'un d'entre vous a t il déjà rencontré ce problème ? Si oui, comment avez vous pu le résoudre ?

Go to Metro UI> Settings > PC and Devices > Trackpad > Touchpad -
Deactivate the Touchpad Delay.
Also:
I used a different wireless mouse which worked fine. The issue is possibly related to Mouse/Touch problems.

Start game with space bar

My project is almost complete except for this last little thing that's been bugging me. A tutorial I followed had you start the game by clicking a button but I would like to change that to pressing the spacebar starts the game. I tried:

Space bar short cut

Anybody know why a document sometimes lets me move around the page with hand tool using space bar short cut and sometimes the space bar short cut does not work?

Do you have FireFox or specifically, GMail running in FireFox? Try quitting FireFox and it will probably go away. I've posted the same problem on CS4 Illustrator. It also happens InDesign, probably Photoshop too. Speculation is it is Flash causeing the problem, I agree with those who link it to FireFox or Google or GMail and Flash. After quitting FireFox the space + command zoom and space bar hand tool and all space bar related quick keys came back. I relaunch FireFox and it worked for a while, but logging into my GMail account brings the problem back.

Tiger & PS CS2&3 image redraw with hand tool.

Having aproblem with Adobe Photoshop CS2 and 3 after I up graded to Mac OSX Tiger. Currently, I am on version 10.4.8.
Does anybody know how to fix image redraw problem I am experiencing?
It does not happen every time, but it happens enough to be very hard to work.
When navigating through an image with space bar pressed down (hand tool,) Image does not redraw smoothly. It becomes over-wrapped with itself many times. Also, your cursor will leave foot prints over the image just by moving cursor over the image.
I am on PSCS 3 beta now but also happened on CS2. It is also happening on 2 machines, so I don't think it is a graphic card or hardware problem.

half hour later . . .
Okay everyone . . . the people suggesting tapping the space bar are correct. When the tool sticks as the hand, tap the space bar, and that clears it.
I am not convinced that the keyboard is the problem. Rather, I think that there is something in the program that causes the hand tool to appear and then stick, and the space bar clears it. Here's why:
FYI - I said what follows, above; but I'll repeat here for clarity:
To try to rule out issues on my end, I . . .
1) re-Ghosted my PC back to a pristine image (then DL & installed all updates) to try to rule out system software issues
2) did Symantec disk check to try to rule out disk errors
3) DL Photoshop from Adobe website all over again (to try to ensure error-free file); install and reboot
4) DL Photoshop update; install and reboot
It doesn't get much cleaner than that. In addition, my keyboard (Saitek Eclipse II) is pretty new.
Here ias where the hand tool issue has appeared repeatedly for me:
I used photoshop for a couple of hours doing simple layers, cropping, and text with effects without problems. But then, I closed the program and opened it up again to do something more complex. The hand-tool issue appeared at the same point it did before I went through all this:
I had some photos that I wanted to use as fill for shapes on the masked layer below the group . . .
1. I grouped 6 layers
2. ctrl-click the masked layer below the group, then clicked on the group
3. Choose layer>layer mask> reveal selection (puts the grouped photos into the shapes in layer below)
And this is where the hand appears--not every timwe, but a few times. I was also frequently going back and forth between a You Tube viseo and Photoshop when the hand appeared.
Anyway, tapping the sapce bar seems to resolve it.

Hand tool + zoom shortcuts don't work!

there seems to be a problem with my Adobe Creative Suite 2 programs shortcuts. whenever I want to use the Hand Tool (space bar) or the Zoom tool (Command+Space Bar), it just doesn't work. I always worked with those shortcuts on older versions. Is it just me? I checked for shortcuts conflicts on my computer and it doesn't seem to be the problem.

In short you have a background process running which is causing the OS to block the modifier keys. Some of the more noted software include VPNs, task schedulers like Quicken, some Microsoft products, some add-ons to Firefox, all of which hold open ports on the internet. Open the Activity monitor and kill any suspect processes and see if AI will work.
