Shifting in images...

I'm new to FCE, but I have a fair amount of video editing experience. I'm working on a project with still photos... (medium to high res .jpg's), emulating the Ken Burns effect. When I add a transition bwt 2 photos, I'm getting some 'shifting' or jerkiness occurring with the photos. The shifting occurs in the rendered output, as well as exported QuickTime samples...
It's probably new-user error, but any idea what I might be doing wrong?

You might want to adjust the in/out points of the stills. Perhaps you are running into a issue with "handles" the extra, unseen frames you need to make transitions.
If these are Photoshop files, try trimming each pic a bit, or try adjusting the direction of the trans

I can't get imovie to open after trying to shift the image to my TV by clicking fn F3. If I hold the mouse on the imovie icon for a few seconds the imovie window opens but if I click anywhere on the window it disappears

I can't get imovie to open after trying to shift the image from my macbook pro to the tv screen like I have done many times before. If I double click on the imovie icon, imovie doesn't open, but the strip across the top shows iMovie, file, edit , clip, view, text share window help tabs across the top. The iMovie window will appear if I click on the iMovie icon on the dock for a few seconds, or if I do control F3 at the same time, but when I click on the window it disappears. When I hover the mouse over the iMovie window that appears the window has a blue border around it. when I move the mouse outside the iMovie window the blue border goes away. If I sweep 4 fingers from the top of the screen down, the screen dims a little but the iMovie window doesn't appear. If I click play under the view tab I can hear audio, but still no iMovie window. It's as if the window is being blocked by the desk top somehow.

I purchased five movies for download and having nothing but problems getting them downloaded. I keep receiving error messages and the download stops and I have to restart it, just to get another minute worth of download with each restart. Now Apple has my money and I have nothing.

Navigation rollovers shift tables/images - why?

Hi, I'm using FW CS3 and DW CS3 and I'm on a 24" iMac. These sites are driving me nuts with the IE 7 browser. In BOTH cases, the navigation rollover effect somehow causes the table or image to shift. Note: I use tables to create my websites.
This ONLY happens in IE - at least consistently. I've double checked my Fireworks Files to set the image locations as identical in frames 1 and 2. And I've checked my margins on my DWT templates to make sure no space got accidentally inserted.
Also in the Bright-Belt Music site, my rollovers don't even show up, on ANY browser.
Are these DW CS3 bugs perhaps??
Here are my sites; I do hope it's okay to list both since they both have the similar issue. I've checked some of these pages for validation but I'm not all through with that yet.

I'm on Windows7 and IE 8.
On the rollover, the table shifts down a couple of pixels. It's veery strange why it would happen in some browsers and not others.

Try running IE8 in IE7 Compatibility Mode.

C410a - Double sided, 2 sided, duplexing shifts the image, and changes the registration.

Double sided, 2 sided, duplexing, moves the image, changing the registration. This makes it impossilbe to print folding cards or brochures correctly. Of course, with Word we can print double sided manually. But with Hallmark Card Studio and other such software, there is no manual option. Resetting margins is not going to happen, and some programs don't give that option anyway. Is there a simple work-around? Is there a way to just eliminate the auto duplex feature? This makes this printer a real pain and a high cost usless one for my wife, who does lots of cards.

I am having the same issues and am having no luck with HP techs (even told to return the printer by HP). Were you able to resolve this issue?? If I tell the thing to print with .125 margins all around, then that is what I should get; but instead, I get an upward shift of the entire page!?! Using Avery card stock is impossible because of this. I have tried using Corel Draw to layout, Publisher (with Avery template and without). I set up my own guidelines and reduce margins all around. I am going crazy with this!

Color shift between image viewed in ACR and open in PS

Today I updated Photoshop CC and now I have a slight color shift problem between the same image open in ACR and then opened in Photoshop. It appears to be slightly more saturated in ACR.
I have tried the same thing on another computer and it does NOT have the same problem so it must have been something that happened in the update (ACR was one of the items updated). I have also compared the preferences between the two computers and they are identical.
I guess the next thing to do is to deinstall PS and reinstall????
Any advice would be appreciated.

Any difference between ACR and Photoshop is most likely due to a monitor profile problem. They both use the same monitor profile, but there are differences in the actual conversion so a problem can show up differently between them.
Is your monitor calibrated/profiled, and if so how, using what calibrator? Or are you using the Windows default (sRGB), or perhaps you got a bad manufacturer profile through Windows Update? (yes, that happens frequently).
To find out if the monitor profile is indeed the problem, go to Control Panel > Color Management > Devices. Set sRGB IEC61966-2.1 as default profile (if it isn't already), then relaunch Photoshop/Bridge and see if the difference is still there. If your monitor is wide gamut, use Adobe RGB instead.
Note that this doesn't fix the problem as such, but if you don't have a calibrator sRGB will usually be close enough until you decide to get one.
If you do have and use a calibrator, make sure it is set to make v2 profiles, not v4, and matrix rather than LUT profiles.

Shift + Drag image no longer shows image outline or ghost

In PSCS4, when you held down the SHIFT Key and dragged one image on top of another image, you would see an outline or a "ghost" of the image you were moving as you moved it - in PSCS5 that option no longer appears - has it been removed? Thanks!

J2EE 7: Page shifting when image is expanded by a Zoom function

We have coded a button to change the size of a image for the purpose of zooming in and out and when the image reaches a size bigger than the monitor it makes the page shift. Scroll bars appear and move the page to the left scrolling right. This situation causes a set of buttons we have coded to perform menu functions to scroll out of view. We were not able to figure out how to build a menu using Java menu functions (Java menu class) so to get things done this is what we needed to do for our deadline. Coding a menu is not the problem. Getting it to work is. Anyway we need the page not to shift. What can we do to correct this problem. Thanks for any help given in advance.

Waking Intel Mini shifts desktop image 2 inches to the left

Been using a G4 Mini for 2 years with my 27" HD-LCD-TV with no problems. Just bought an Intel Mini and now when I wake the Mini from sleep or switch from full screen mode, the desktop shifts 2 inches to the left. Repositioning the display using the TV configurations does not help. The Apple & Application Menus disappear off the edge. I have to reboot to return it to normal.
Any advice?

I've a similar problem with the display when the mac mini wakes up, an inch of the left disappers. The setting is 1360x768 (60Hz) but after waking up, the TV detects as 1280x768 (60Hz). Hence, I suspect the problem is either the DVI cable or the mac.
It was fine when I connected with a VGA cable. This phenomenon occurs after I got a DVI cable. With the DVI cable, the image quality visibly improved but with this annoying disapperance of 80 columns of pixels.
I've been searching on the internet for a solution for some time but yet to find any.
I'm using a Dell W2606C.

How to edit a table in a css style sheet without shifting the images or text?

Hi all I am realy stuck on this one I have added two tables to my site. But when I add a new image or some text they all diplace at different positions in the table.Can any one help me to fix this issues as it makes the site uneven. Any one with any knowleged on this I can show you the examples of the differences.
Would really appreciate some help on this as it is a community free site for local tradesmen to advertise there services.

Keep in mind that demoiacing algorithms use neighboring pixels to for developing a specific pixel, such that pixels near the edge cannot be developed equally and are usually tossed. That said, I believe it was Thomas Knoll who created a applet for recovering the edges. That was some time ago, and I cannot find it this morning. Perhaps a more diligent sifting thru Thomas' posts will find it(?)

Shifting and moving images on a canvass

I have to prgramm a little board game, where different images have to shift and move. I created a 2-dimensional array [j] as a surface and i want to shift the images around (when clicked) by changing their array-index. This doesnt work so far... can anybody give me hints how to move images around on a canvass with a method like that? everything helps!

I don't know what you tried to do, but here is what I suggest:
1. Make an array that represents the board.
2. Mark each cell in the array where an image exists.
3. repaint the canvas within a loop on the array.
On each iteration u decide whether to draw an empty cell or a cell with an image.
This won't animate the image (dragging it on the board), but rather make it disappear from its original cell and pop in its new position.

Photoshop preview shows centered image, but shifts image up and right during printing

I have been using my Epson 3880 for several years; Suddenly, photoshop started shifting my image up and to the left even though the preview box shows the print as centered. The printer is not the issue because it prints correctly from apple preview and Word. Operating system MAC 10.6.8...nothing has changed except I replaced a maintenance cartridge on the printer.

Is this one particular image, or all? If one image, does it have hidden pixels like a Crop without 'Delete hidden pixels' checked?
Can you check the date of the printer driver to see if it automatically updated? Can you correlate the problem to another event, like an OSX update?

Image shifted to the left

QT 7.0.3 does something bad to my clips:
It shifts the image to the left by about 3 lines and fills up the space with the corresponding lines from the left border. At first I thought I was FinalCutPro's fault but also the QT Player does it. Any idea?

You can adjust a tracks "offset" and dimensions via the Movie Properties "Visual Settings" tab.
The default offset is 0,0 (upper left). These is a "bug" (still found in QT 7) when adding a skin track. It seems to shift one pixel down and to the right. Since you can't edit a skin tracks properties you need to allow for this shift by reducing your skin masks by one pixel.

Odd Camera Shifting Behavior

I have the iPhone 5. I notce an odd behavior with Apple's Camera app. When I start off taking pictures, the app behaves fine. But later on when I frame the image that I would like to take a photo of, just as I press the shutter button, the Camera app shifts the image about 1/4+ inch (on screen) to the right and takes a picture of that. It will keep doing this until I restart the phone, then everything is fine again.
Has anyone experience this before with their iPhone?

Either you’ve messed with the Preferences > Junk Mail > Advanced settings, or those settings have become corrupt, or you have one or more rules that have a bearing on this.
Assuming it isn’t the latter, try this:
1. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail, disable junk mail filtering, then enable it again. This resets the rule that governs what the junk filter does.
2. Choose either Training or Automatic mode (it doesn’t matter) and leave the other options checked. Click Advanced to see how the junk filter rule is defined now if you want, but don’t touch anything there.
3. Reset the junk filter database (Preferences > Junk Mail > Reset).

Why can I no longer use my own image in its original dimensions as my wallpaper?

Taking a screenshot and using that does NOT work - I'm still forced to crop the image by 30% or more. Even editing the image down to a smaller resolution does nothing - not that I should have to do this manually in 2013!!! This is one of the stupidest issues I have ever seen. Every computer/device in the past 20 years has allowed you to set a wallpaper the way you want using the image you wanted - now Apple has created a stupid and pointless parallax function that some 12 year old thought up at the expense of one of the most basic and essential functions that everyone wants. Just unbelievable. How could they roll out four updates to this horrendous iOS7 and STILL not have fixed this issue!?
I have the iPad 4 by the way, not surprisingly Apple only gives "iPad" and "iPad 2" as device options!!! Sell your Apple stock folks, it's over. I've never seen a more clear harbinger of decline than iOS7.

You already seem to know what the issue is, it is the parallax feature that was added to iOS 7. From your rant, it appears that your attempt to work around this was not successful. According to the Apple documents I've seen, they recommend that you enlarge your image (not reduce it). Make your image have excess space on all sides, which is not displayed on the screen. This way, when you tilt your device one direction or another, it can shift the image to give the appearance of 3D.
As a photographer, I like to use the full frame of my images, but I also know that I need to leave room around the image as well. I have some photos I have taken that I can't use because I have them cropped too tightly too, but I have others that work just fine. Just remember that part of the image file is "off screen" so that if iOS has to shift the image up it has some image that can scroll onto the screen. It needs this space on all sdes, so just make youre images larger, and keep in mind that a portion on each side will be outside the normally visible screen... If you don't like this feature, you can always go into the settigns and turn it off.
