Shifting of Oracle

Hello,
I intend to buy the Virtuzzo license for my dedicated server. I have installed Oracle XE but have to reload OS to install virtuzzo
I want to save my whole oracle settings including users + data + table + sequences + triggers etc.
Thanks & best regards

1) Use the XE backup facilityDid you mean RMAN ?
2) shutdown database and copy all files to another diskwhat files/folders are necessary to copy ?
3) reinstall xe , put these files back and if required restore db using xe restore functionality.I making regularly backup with RMAN by using the following commands but don't know how to restore
run {
crosscheck archivelog all;
backup as compressed backupset incremental level 0 check logical database plus archivelog delete input tag=sunall;
sql "alter database backup controlfile to trace";

  • How to filter IN and OUT punch timings for Attendance in Day and Night shifts in oracle SP?

    I am developing Attendance system which having day and night shift I am unable to filter the IN and OUT punches of the employees? below is my current logic
    shift timings on 29-Jun-2013 IN 22:00 OUT 07:00 and on 30-Jun-2013 IN 15:00 OUT 22:30
    I am filtering the IN and OUT punches based on shift timings and swipe time along with date, but when the employee changing from night shift to day shift I am getting problem.
    the below is the one scenario
    the employee : 101 has worked on 29-Jun-2013 on night shift punched at 22:00 and he left at next day means 30-Jun-2013 07:00 AM and again the same day (30-Jun-2013) he came to office at 15:00 on 30-Jun-2013 and he left at 22:30 on the same day now if the punches will come daily then there is no problem, however due to any problem punches are not received for 30-Jun-2013 07:00 AM then the punches IN 15:00 OUT 22:30 on 30-jun-2013 already in database now the out punch of 29-Jun-2013 is 30-Jun-2013 at 07:00 AM it is difficult to find this as previous day out punch
    Note: some times the employees forgot to swipe IN/OUT punch
    so if any body have solution please update

  • ..... PHP oracle.. application connectivity issue.......

    all.
    We have oracle 9i release 2 databse installed and acced by clients using Forms 6i.
    Due to some reasons we are shifting to Oracle 10g rel 1 and PHP as front end.
    The new server machine has windows 2000 professional with service pack 4.
    i installed orcl 10g rel1 on it. I configured the PHP and place the application pages on the folder and it is workign fine.
    Now the problem is that when i try to access the application from my computer it shows me the error as
    "Database connection error." This error is hardcodded by me , if there is any issue in connectivity , i have hardcoded that my user will see this error.
    a few of the clients when they type the machine name on thier browsers see this error
    " PHP Warning: Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library './extensions/php_oci8.dll' - Access is denied. in Unknown on line 0 PHP Warning: Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library './extensions/php_oracle.dll' - Access is denied. in Unknown on line 0 "
    My database clients werent also connecting but the following action has caused the fault to be corrected.
    wat i did was that i replace the
    host=(endsys.eapa.com)
    to host= (ip address).
    But still i am unable to connect to the application via my webbrowser.
    I have installed PHP correctly, IIS correctly,
    may b there is anything to do with the permissions.
    Kindly suggest something so that i may able to bring up the application
    Regards

    Hi: Im running IIS on a Windows Server 2000, PHP Version 4.4.2 and I have installed on the same server my Oracle 9 DB.
    I have edited php.ini like:
    extension_dir = "C:\PHP4\extensions"
    extension=php_oci8.dll
    I have run dependency walker in order to ensure all dependencys are ok.
    I have granted full access to Everybody to the PHP directory
    But im having the following error:
    PHP Warning: Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\PHP4\extensions\php_oci8.dll' - Access is denied. in Unknown on line 0
    Does anybody know where i should start troubleshooting this?

  • Make form in oracle 12 c

    hi al ,
    i just shifted from oracle 10 g to 12 c after installing  jdeveloper suite i want to make forms and report like in 10 g  how can do it ?

    Before going much further, I recommend you read the following:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/10_commandments_for_the_otn_fo
    Keep in mind that almost all Oracle products using product names that include something like "10g", "11g", "12c", etc.  So when you post something and simply say "I'm using 10g..."  This doesn't tell us anything.  You could be referring to the database, Application Server, Forms, Reports, Designer, or one of many other products.  When posting, be sure to use product names AND versions.  A version number should include a set of at least 3 numbers.  For example, 11.1.2, 10.1.2, 11.2.0, etc....
    As for your question, I can only guess as to what you are asking.  It seems like you are saying you downloaded and installed JDeveloper 12.1.x and think you can build Oracle Forms or Oracle Reports applications with it.  If this is correct, you cannot.  Jdeveloper is for developing Java applications.  Information about the latest Oracle Forms vesion can be found on the Oracle Forms OTN page here:

  • Need Help on Oracle Apps

    Hi All,
    I am into development of software since 4 years and currently working as senior software engineer in one of the MNC company and I have worked on some of the projects on oracle 11i.
    I am interested in undergoing training in Oracle Apps (11i ), Since having experience in software development is it feasible for me to shift to oracle 11i, please guide me on this so that i can take appropriate step.

    well, the easy answer is "Certainly". I guess a little more information on why you'd like to move to Apps development and your career goals would be helpful before venturing an answer.

  • Need help for switching to Oracle Apps

    Hi All,
    I am a System Analyst working in Singapore for the last 6 yrs.Currently for the last 3+ years i am in the project implementation & support team for ERP Team.We are using JD Edwards.Currently i have the role of Functional Consultant.
    I want to shift to Oracle Apps (11i).The reason being there is not much scope in JD Edwards.Intially i was working in Developer 2000 as a Forms/Reports Developer.
    I couple of questions to ask :
    1) Do i need to go though a Oracle Apps Training as i already have experience in Jd Edwards ??
    2) Can somebody recommend some good Training institutes in Singapore with Placement Assistance ??
    3) Do anybody knows any company in Singapore who can give training in Oracle Apps and take in professionals who want to make a switch but have experience in another ERP package ??
    Thanks
    Regards

    Hi,
    As you said you were initially working on Developer2000 so it would be lot easier since there would enough background on PL/SQL,forms and reports.Best thing for you I would recomend is pick 2 or 3 modules of your area in JD Edwards like Financials(General Ledger,Recievables,Purchasing,Payables,Fixed Assests...) or HRMS Suite(HRMS,Payroll,Advanced Benefits) which I believe the core business logic for any ERP would be the same. So pick your strong modules in JD Edwards and go through the Oracle Apps Doc. which is available online.In the documentation you will find Application Developer Guide which will be helpful if you are looking to be an Technical Person or you can go through the Module wise documentation if interested in Functional position. Either case better to have overall idea about interested module I mean how the logic and setup will be.
    Initially it will be rough however if you don't give up Apps is lot easier.

  • Why oracle gets so popularity

    hi. main aspect of my quection is to get the Main difference b/w Sql*Server and Oracle? and why oracle have got so much popularity that most of the organizations are shifting to oracle. thanks

    Why is Oracle so popular?
    Oracle has a very large feature set and in may cases provided these features before competing vendors got the same features into their database products such as outer joins, table triggers, PK, UK, and FK constraints, etc... The pl/sql language provided the trigger language and also stored code: procedures, functions, and packages. Pl/sql has proven to be very popular with DBA's and developers for performing tasks.
    To the standards listed above Oracle has analytic queries, an extensive list of hints to affect the optimizer plan, and vendor provided scripts to assist with locating and dealing with locking, performance, and management problems: utllockt, statspack, and utlrp.
    Oracle makes just about everything about what is stored in the database available via the rdbms dictionary views: dba_tables, dba_indexes, dba_views, dba_constraints, etc...
    Oracle also makes information on its current memory management/load/utilization available via the v$ dynamic performance views. No other db vendor provides access to this detail level of information about what is currently occurring in the database. These views provide a wealth of tuning information to the DBA.
    Almost all Oracle rdbms management functions are performed using extentions to the basic SQL language. Oracle has added Alter database and Alter system commands for performing DBA tasks. An example might be "alter database recover datafile '/dev/xxx' " This makes working with Oracle from a command line prompt such as SQLPlus easy.
    SQLPlus is also a very nice command line processor. It has very good formatting ablilites so not only can you use it to create quick and dirty queries for DBA usage but you can also create some fairly decent user reports.
    Add the ability to run what looks and acts like the same product on everything from a PC to a Mainframe and you have a powerful argument for Oracle as a shop wide standard.
    Oracle is suitable for use with OLTP, DSS, OLAP, and/or Warehouses applications.

  • Is there any provision to view the selected record using SYS_REFCURSOR?

    hi friends ,
    I was using SQL Server . now i am shifting to Oracle . so we are changing the Stored Procedures in SQLServer to Oracle SP's. I have given the structure of procedure given below . If possible , i want to see the output of select statement in the TOAD editor . If any body knows please help me
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE PS_AON
    P_STATUS OUT VARCHAR2,
    P_CUR OUT SYS_REFCURSOR
    AS
    BEGIN
    OPEN P_CUR FOR
              select colum1,column2,column3 from Table 1;
    EXCEPTION
                   WHEN OTHERS THEN
                   P_STATUS:=SQLERRM;
    END;
    This is one of the model of stored procedures i am using . And the editor i am using is TOAD 7.3.0 and oracle 9i. Is there any provision to view the selected records by running this procedure in TOAD editor
    thanks & regards

    (assuming you have relatively recent version of TOAD).
    Write a small block to call the procedure (or use Toad's 'execute procedure' option) as in the example below. Note the ':' in front of 'v_cur_out'. When you run the block, TOAD will prompt you for a value / datatype for 'v_cur_out'. Ignore the value, set the datatype to 'Cursor' and click OK. The resultset (if any) will be displayed in the Data Grid window below.
    DECLARE
       v_status VARCHAR2 (32767);
    BEGIN
       ps_aon (v_status, :v_cur_out);
       DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE ('v_status => ' || v_status);
    END;
