Shipper scenarios

Hi,
Since we have multiple incoterms hence can someone inform for which incoterms freight settlement document will not have any charges calculated in a shipper scenarios? I think its only for customer pick up and self delivery scenario.
Secondly is there any speciifc config for incoterm determination related to shipper scenario?

Guess I answered the question myself by checking in the system:
For own containers, a resource of type Transportation Unit has to be created for each container (though the TM book says that those have no functionality anymore - apparently this is wrong/has been changed). There you can specify an equipment which provides physical properties to the resource.
In planning, you have to create Container Units (which, according to documentation, is a kind of Transportation unit, which is quite confusing because this is something different then the Transportation Unit ressource type mentioned above). For own containers, you assign a TU resource. For containers provided by the LSP, you just assign an equipment. Result is in both cases a container unit which can be "filled" with freight units, one having a link to a resource, the other not. Guess you can proceed equally from there on.
The connection between Event tracking of Container (as well as Trailer and Railcar) Units and assigned resources (of type Transportation Unit in the container case, of type Passive Vehicle in the other two cases) is explained in the EM guide on Ressource Tracking, which can be found here: Resource Tracking Scenario for SAP Transportation Management
Still, please correct me if I'm wrong somewhere, and feel free to make additions!

  • FUBR for a shipper scenario

    Hi,
We are currently working on a shipper scenario.Considering the fact that we are working with products which are dangerous goods as well as there will be many loose products and pallets which will be used. Can you kindly suggest  in these cases wheather we consider 1 FU is equal to 1 DTR or shall we generate FU based on items?

    HI ,
Consider the creation of 1 FU for 1 DTR. After the creation of the the FU's you can actually plan for the consolidation for the different freight units according the concept as used by your organisation for eg. 1000 points rule.

  • Shipper scenario

    Hi,
In majority cases we have seen freight order in SAP TM creates the shipment document in ECC but we have a requirement where the shipment process should be created and executed in ECC based on which FO /FB is to be created in SAP TM.
I did not find in the help guide about this scenario and also the corresponding PI services to be used

    Hi Dipak,
This is very much possible and is a standard scenario. The shipment integration can be configured using two different alternatives:
    IDOC Mapping in PI
    SOA2IDOC / IDOC2SOA Mapping
Please use following interfaces and refer to the SAP documentation to configure the entire scenario. [SAP Transportation Management: Basic Settings and Integration for SAP ERP]
    SHPMNT.SHPMNT05[ECC] to TransportationOrderSCMRequest_In[TM]
    SHIPPL.TPSSHT01[ECC] TransportationOrderSCMCancellationRequest_In [TM]
This is called inbound integration of shipments. "Inbound integration enables you to carry out tendering in SAP TM for shipments created in SAP ERP. SAP TM creates freight orders based on shipments received from SAP ERP"
"SAP does not support the use of order and delivery integration in conjunction with inbound integration of ERP shipments. The system allows you to transfer shipments and their related deliveries from SAP ERP to SAP TM even if you have already transferred these deliveries (and their related orders) using the order and delivery integration functions. If you intend to use order and delivery integration in conjunction with inbound integration of shipments in the same SAP ERP client, you must make the required configuration and organizational settings to ensure that the SAP TM system cannot create duplicate transportation requirements."

  • Incoterms at Forwarding Order Item Level in TM 8.0 ?

    Hi Frens,
Is there a provision to enter Incoterm at Forwarding Order Item Level in TM 8.0? I could not trace that keeping that in mind that TM 8.0 is for Shippers only.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vikas Chhabra

    Hi Mike,
I mean to say that TM 8.0 is majorly focussing on Shippers (though I myself have executed Forwarding Order Management and its settlement in TM 8.0).
Regarding your query that we can create SO in ECC with line item incoterms and Transfer these SOs as OTR in TM system, then we are touching Shipper scenario of creating Freight order from this. I am concerned about creating Forwarding Order directly in TM 8.0 and maintaining Incoterms at its line item level. Is TM 8.0 has any provision for that.
    Thanks for your inputs Mike.
    Awaiting reply,

  • Career in SAP TM

    Dear ,
I am working as a SAP SD consultant since 5 years and I am very interested to undergo SAP TM training.
Little worried what would be the career growth and scope in the market 5 years down the line.
Please seeking your suggetion or guidelines.
    Thanks & regards
    Param

    Hello Ksaran K,
I completely agree with Eduardo Chagas but I have added some points below.
You should be familar with sap SD and have some coding knowledge of ABAP.
    Why SAP SD?
Because TM is a stand alone system as well as integrated with SAP R/3. If you will know SD then you will get some idea about how business prosesses are implemented in sap, some basic concept which required in SAP TM.There is some intergration requred to connect Tm and ECC for shipper scenario. You can find some good documents, threads where experts have given their views and solutions. You can watch some videos from you tube which will give idea to your sap knowledge.
    3? Why ABAP?.
To be a good Functional owner it will better to have some abap knowledge. I feel advance process areas like TM and EWM, there is alittle boundary between technical and functional role.If you know abap then in some cases you can check your own whether your thought/design will work fine or not.

  • Transportation planning point for freight settlement

    Hi,
Previously with std ECC set up we used to have the config related to asisgnment of transportation planning point with shipping condition, porg, pgroup and plant. Now with TM 9.1 in place do we still require the above config as part of settlement of freight charges considering it a shipper scenario?

These configs are not required in a  normal scenario.

  • FSD creation after PGI

    hi,
There is a requirement to create FSD document after the PGI (of the delivery) automatically. Could you suggest a way to do that? Please note this is for a Shipper scenario.
Options that was explored & discarded.
    1. Use txn: /n/scmtms/sfir_create - report does not have anything related to the PGI status
    2. Use selection profile to filter out freight orders (using additional selection attributes using selection values) for which the deliveries are PGI'ed- the
    3. Conditions in selection profile - could not find a condition type appropriate for the freight order selections.
    4. Use txn: /n/scmtms/sfir_create with Freight order life cycle status - Life cycle status are not directly dependent on PGI status
Could you suggest me the options?
    Thank You,
    Vasu

    Hi Vasudevan,
An ouput could be triggered at shipmemt which create a idoc (shmpnt05) to send the PGI status to TM. Further create a fsd with this program /SCMTMS/SFIR_CREATE_BATCH
Code can written in the save strategy in the FO that will call the action CREATE_SFIRwhich is at TOR root level. check this classs /SCMTMS/CL_CREATE_SAVE_METHODS
Also check the lifecycle staus in /SCMTMS/TOR-ROOT . I Hope this help

  • Stages concept

    Hi,
When we are working for a LSP scenario, we add have multiple stages captured in FWO.However for a shipper scenario which document is used to capture multiple stages since at the outset OTR/DTR always have a single location. If we want to have multiple stages for on cariiage pre carriage data to be captured ina shipper scenario, do we always need to add stages in the corresponding FU and achieve this functionality?

    Hi Deepak,
Make a Default Route in the NWBC between your Shipping Point and the Ship-to Location with all the desired stages. Then in the FU use 'Apply Default Route' button to adopt these stages.
    This should work.
FYI-If in an FWO, the 'Apply Default Route' check in the FUBR does this.

  • Modes of transport

    Hi,
We are working in a shipper scenario where various modes of transport like road, rail, ocean, barge etc are used. Can the experts kindly inform if there is a way we can indicate from sales order processing for which mode of transport the OTR will be created in TM.Currently in OTR there is no way we can identify wheather the requirement is for road/rail/barge etc.Kindly do not consider order type as a reference.

    Hi,
this seems to be a common issue/misunderstanding for shippers projects (also in our project...). The idea behind TM is: No transportation mode is predefined in the sales order, but TM determines the best/cheapest way of transporting goods.
Knowing this, your goal is to set up TM in a way that it returns the desired result automatically. There are quite a few levers you can use here (non-exhaustive):
    - freight unit building rule (resulting in different FU types depending on values in sales order)
    - setup of transportation network (for example, if a customer is only reachable via road, then there should be no transportation lanes enabling rail transport to this location)
    - incompatibilities
Of course, you can use ERP fields like shipping condition to steer the behavior of TM. For example, if there's a condition like "Express", then the TM system might create parcel FOs instead of regular road transports in planning or prefer faster MTr instead of cheaper but slower ones. You could also use this to define the MTr for the "last mile" to the customer, but this is a concept we also have to evaluate (at which point in TM to steer this best)...
Generally speaking, you need a very good knowledge throughout the project team on the interaction of the different elements and parameters in TM, and you have to take time for conceptional thoughts.

  • Routes in ECC

    Hi,
In a shipper scenario can the experts inform how does the route info flow into OTR/FU from sales order in ECC

OTR dates are not affected as such. But route impacts the dates in SO which is reflected in the OTR which in turn drives the FU dates.
Secondly requested delivery date is independent of route. So if we 'plan based on requested quantities' then in TM the FU date for the destination location will be requested delivery date in SO. It does not look at the schedule line.
However if you 'Plan of confirmed quantities' {OTR config}, the date of the schedule line in ECC SO with confirmed quantities will be the FU destination End date(requested). Moreover the material availability date will be FU source start date (Acceptable).
So in this scenario if you change routes in SO, the schedule line dates gets affected which changes the FU destination end date(requested). Moreover in this case, requested delivery date in SO is not used directly in TM FU.

  • How to use pre-defined scenarios for RosettaNet with XI 3.0

    Hi all.
I am working in Comgroup Shanghai co. ltd. which is partner of SAP China.
We have a potential customer who use RosettaNet as their Supply Chain EDI system.
I would like to make a demo for demostrate the pre-defined scenarios for RosettaNet RNIF 2.0 packages.
Where can I find such guideline ? I have checked the article: implementing RosettaNet with XI 3.0, but it cannot help me.
Another question is how I can develop my own scenarios for the RNIF standards which are not included in XI RosettaNet business package ?

    Hi Andy,
See the instructions below after you installed the RosettaNet STK.
Below given is the sample config for PIP3B2 Scenario. Part I is using STK and Part II is using 2 XI systems.
    <b>Part I. Test Using STK</b>
    In your XI ID:
    1) Define both the parties 1) Shipper(Your Partner) 2) Receiver(Your company) with identifiers like DUNS Number.
    2) In ID goto>Tools>Transfer Integration Scenarios from IR-->select the scenario "PIP3B2_Receiver" from the drop down list.
    3) Follow the 4 steps in the config wizard.
    4) While creating your CC, create it from the channel template delivered with the RosettaNet BP.
4.1) Specify the URL for STK which should be in the following format
    http://<STK Server>:<port>/rosettanet/servlet/listenerServlet?userId=<Party Name>
4.2)In the location fields, enter your location and your partner location.
    In your STK
    1) Start the RosettaNet STK.
    2) enter the UserID<Partner Name in XI>
    3) Select the Test Scenario, 3B2V01.01-AdvanceShipmentNotification-0001-Scenario-Shipper
    4) Enter Global Business ID(DUNS Number) and Location ID for both the partners. These fields should be same as in your R/3 Party configuration.
    5) Enter the URL as follows:
    http://<XI Server:<J2EE_Port>/MessagingSystem/receive/RNIFAdapter/RNIF
If everything is configured correctly as mentioned, you should be able to test your single-action scenario.
<b>Part II Test using another XI System</b>
For these follow the steps above for XI Config.
Configure one XI System as PIP3B2 Shipper using the Scenario "PIP3B2_Shipper" and config wizard as mentioned above.
Configure the other XI as PIP3B2 Receiver using the scenario "PIP3B2_Receiver" and config wizard.
In the Url field, specify the URL as follows:
    http://<XI host>:<J2EE_Port>/MessagingSystem/receive/RNIFAdapter/RNIF
    Hope this helps.

  • SAP TM Usage from Shipper's Perspective

    Hi,

    Hello Neha,
---What happens if stock is not there in ECC , when delivery proposal is sent to ECC from TM . Also what happens if some order is cancelled/changed in mean time. The DTR which consumes OTR is already planned  hence i can't replan it now.---
When the delivery proposal is trigged from TM, ERP check the ATP just like no TM process. So the stock avaiability is done at this moment and update or not the FU with the DTR reference. If you´re talking about MTS scenario where you can have a lot of stock issues when creating a delivery, Id recommend you to call the delivery generation before instead after planning.
You have to deal with this trade off: planning in advance based on OTR to have more load composition vs based only in firm stocks(deliveries). Is it clear?
    Kind Regards, Marcelo Lauria

  • Rail scenario in TM 9.1

    Hi,
Can some one tell the process flow of a rail scenario for a shipper.I had gone through the scenario guides but not exactly clear the difference between rail and normal truck scenario.Secondly whats the concept of railcar unit. Also whats the resource type we should use for rail

    Hello Jerry,
This document does not talk about Default Route at all so do not believe it is complete. In the Rail scenario, you need to have provision to update executing carrier, payment carrier and other details like no pay flag etc.,

  • Logical System in IDOC-XI scenario

    Hi,
I need help to understand few things in IDOC-XI scenario, could any one help me in this regard.
we use Adapter specific identifiers to map services, we have following type of identifiers 1) Sys.ID & Client No.  2) Logical System.
    my questions are
    a) Are we use Logical System in B to B scenario ?
    b) Are we use LS in reference to the SAP system or Non SAP system ? if a non SAP system....how a non SAP system send an IDOC and why a non SAP system receive an IDOC ( conversion is possible in XI ) ?
    Thanks and Regards
    Mahesh.

    Hay Kumar,
Logical systems can also be used for SAp sytems wich are not installed yet as a virtuall placeholder.
    a) yes. if on of your business is a non sap system or a propritery system that you developed yuo'll ue LS.
    b) non SAP system can send and recieve IDOCs. so it's possiable to get an IDOC from a system and turn it into an RFC for SAP or get an IDOC from an SAP system and then turn it into something else for another system.
    Have a Good One,
    Uri Lifshitz.
