Can't use the Calendar, Book, and Card functions
I have updated my iLife programs to iLife 08 and cannot use the Calendar, Book, and Card functions as the program says the themes have not been installed. However, after looking in the Library/Applications Support/iPhoto folder, the themes are there but not being recognized by the program. I have reinstalled iLife 08 but still to no avail. Help!
Grant:
Try the following:
A. look for a folder title Themes in the User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder. If you find one there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot.
If that doesn't jump start iPhoto then go on to B.
B.
Restoring iPhoto Themes
1 - delete the current application.
2 - delete any files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in your HD/Library/Receipts folder.
3 - delete the Themes folder from your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder.
Also look in the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If there is one there then delete it also.
5 - boot into the system disk that came with your computer and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto.
After installing reinstall the iPhoto 7.1.1 updater again followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility. Also make sure you're running the latest Quicktime, 7.3.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -
I recently moved all my photos from iphoto to Aperture. I had several iphoto books and cards in my project file. When everything was moved to Aperture I can't find any of the books or card projects. Are they gone or can they be restored?
1 - without specifics I have no idea how to help
2 - the question was "are you trying to use them in iPhoto? " - it sounds like you are - to do so you will have to export them from Aperature and import into iPhoto
3 - for information on how to use them in Aperature then you need to ask about how to use Aperature in the Aperature forum as it does not involve iPhoto

ILife '06 Books and Calendars broken in iLife '08
I just installed iLife '08, and immediately installed the iPhoto 7.0.2 update before launching the app. Now, all of the books and calendars that I created in in iLife '06 are broken. The formatting is certainly incorrect for the books and calendars, and also, when trying to edit the book, features seem to be missing, like the top horizontal strip that shows you all of your book's pages.
New Books and Calendars created in iPhoto 7.0.2 seem fine.
Any ideas on how to 'fix' these Books and Calendars?tvaziri:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If the themes you were using are no longer supported in iPhoto 08 it may not be able to salvage the book in the theme you started. I had a book started in Storybook theme and after the conversion it was still OK except it now had a dust jacket included instead of the photo on the actual cover. There was a warning that if I changed themes I wouldn't be able to go back. I worked on it for a while and then decided to change to a supported theme. Don't know of any way to recover them except to change to a supported theme. Make a copy of the book, select and type Command-D, before you change.
Do you Twango?

HT3412 iPhoto books and Shipping to another address
Can I create a book and have it shipped to somebody else's address overseas if it is a gift?
No. The shipping address needs to be in the same country as the credit card's billing address.
Happy Holidays -
Is there a way to place an order with more than one item at a time? for example I am making a few books and having them all shipped to me. Do I have to order each one separately and pay shipping each time?
You have to order each book separately, if the books are different. Only multiple copies of the same book can be ordered in the same order, see here

Format of files for calendar, tasks and address book to export/sync
My idea is to sync the files that are used by TB/Lightning, to manage my calendar, tasks and the address book.
My question is, in which files calendar, tasks, address book are saved and which format do these have?
Do I NEED to export each of them, before managing them with another software? (Icedove and possibly Android)When you export your calendar, it is in an .ics file, both events and tasks. The ics file is a text file which can be edited. RFC-5545 defines the format.
When you export your address book, there are two formats: CSV is comma separated variables, and can be input to a spreadsheet. LDIF is also a text file and is better for importing into another computer.
As far as syncing, I'm not sure what you have in mind, but Google is one way to share that data between devices. -
Address book and calendar sync from Mac to Google
Hi,
I have a HTC Desire phone and wish to sync my Contacts and Calendar items to it via Google.
I have pulled my Address Book and Calendar from my old p1i phone on to my old Power Book and exported these. I have then imported these onto my Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard.
I now want to sync these up to a Google account.
In my address I have ny contacts and also my girlfriend's. I wish to sync only my Contacts up to Google. Is this possible?
I have tried configuring iCal to sync with Google via calDAV but I am not seeing my Calendar entries in Google (or a way of doing a manual sync from Mac -> Google)
Apologies if these questions have been asked and answered previuosly.

Calendar server and address book server login fails with outlook connector

When i deploy the connector i get the pop ups saying "Server:servername:3080
Error:service not available" also
"Server:servername:80/uwc"
Error:service not available"
asking to login to calendar server and address book server.Clicking "OK" allows install.
In outlook i can send and receive mails but not the meeting requests. It gives the error "login to calendar server" when i create a meeting request.
Please let me know what i have to do to get rid of the error. The username and passwd entered is correct.
Regards,
lmeenakshyHi,
When i deploy the connector i get the pop ups saying
"Server:servername:3080
Error:service not available" also Do you get exactly what you say above, or have you substituted in the real server name for "Server:servername:" above?
I would check through the outlook connector deployment configuration to verify that you have inserted valid information into all of the host & port fields - perhaps check the .ini file that is created to see if it has "Server" and "servername" listed.
"Server:servername:80/uwc"
Error:service not available"You are able to log into UWC via the web-interface and access your calendar/pab and edit/modify/delete calendar & addressbook entries right? The services are all up?
asking to login to calendar server and address book
server.Clicking "OK" allows install. The outlook connector deployment software gives you the option to increase the logging level, try that and see what the logs say - what was it trying to connect to/check which failed.
In outlook i can send and receive mails but not the
meeting requests. It gives the error "login to
calendar server" when i create a meeting request.
Please let me know what i have to do to get rid of
the error. The username and passwd entered is
correct.I suspect this is more of an underlying configuration issue that needs to be sorted out, once that happens you shouldn't have to keep logging in.

Sync phone book and calendar by iTunes
After I install Mavericks in my iMAC, I cannot sync my phone book and calendar from iPhone to Mac by iTunes, how can I do?
Hi Mayday_anna,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Since you've updated to Mavericks, you can sync your contacts and calendars using iCloud:
If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.
This information comes from the article on how to sync contacts and calendars using iTunes on Mountain Lion and earlier:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Sync contacts, calendars, and other info with iPod, iPhone, or iPad

Help!! How can I again purchase my photo books and calendars?
Puchase of calendars and photo books is no longer possible from my computer. I have an iMAC, Tiger 10.4.11. !!!!! It seems incredibly stupid to me that I can no longer purchase my own iphoto books and calendars and that Apple, has never warned me or offered me a solution... I asked in the local apple store, and they said my computer is too old (5years) - but I think that is just bad customer's service! I need to solve my problem... anyone?
It's got nothing to do with the age of your Mac, it's the version of your software.
And of course you can purchase your own books etc, just not from Apple.

I have duplicate entries in Address Book. I have missing entries on other devices. For calendar it just doesn't sync.
What I've done to try to fix it:
1) I signed out of all my devices from iCloud and MobileMe.
2) I then deleted all the the cache files in Library and any iCloud folders I could
3) I deleted all the address book and calendar entries on each device.
4) Went back and deleted anything in Library and caches.
5) I looked at iClould.com and confirmed they had entries in Address Book and Calendar.
6) Signed back into iCloud on each device.
7) All the devices then began to populate.
Trouble began:
1) Some Address Book entries are missing on devices.
2) iClould has multiple entries for the very missing contacts! All cutting off the notes field at different places!
3) It won't sync the missing contacts present on iCloud but not the device.
Help.Solved it myself. What I did:
1) I have four Lion OS and two iOS devices.
2) I kept one computer with the complete address book I wanted to start with but disconnecting it from iCloud's Contact sync via Apple Menu > System Preferences > iCloud uncheck Contact Sync
3) Logged into iCloud.com and deleted all the contacts and groups manually ( many keyboard shortcuts worked )
4) On the main computer, using textedit, I replaced semicolons I was using to delimit items in the notes field with backslashes.
5) Once I confirmed all the other computers and devices had no entries in Address Book, on the main computer I turned back on iCloud Contact syncing. It worked. Correct count of entries and no more breaking notes at the semicolons!
6) Immediately all the other iCloud computers and devices updated to the correct notes! Finally. -

I want to delete all the cards in personal address book and collected address, so I delete all of them, but when I reboot thunderbird, they all came back.
Select Help/Troubleshooting Information, click Show Folder to open the profile folder in your OS's file manager, exit TB, delete (or move to another location) abook.mab (Personal Address Book) and history.mab (Collected Addresses). When you restart TB, you should have empty PAB and CA address books.
