Shipping Recalled Battery back to ACI Question

So I got my replacement battery for my powerbook and packaged up the old battery to ship it back. I looked at the label and couldn't tell what carrier sent it or who was suppose to return ship it to ACI. Am I wrong in assuming that Apple is footing the bill for the return shipping? So I read on the enclosed note that it appears that the US Postal Service is suppose to accept the prepackaged label. So I went to my local post office and the agent behind tha counter said it wasn't one of their accounts. ***? He said I could send it but I would have to pay. Then they ran the zip code on the return label and it didn't come up right either. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it suppose to go UPS or FedEx or DHL instead on USPS? HELP!!

From my understanding it is DHL.

  • Problem shipping replacement battery?

I am in a bit of trouble. I purchased a MacBook Pro several months ago in the USA. It turns out that the serial numbers for my computer and Macbbook battery match up for the latest Apple recall on the battery.
I went online to provide the shipping information so that I can receive the replacement battery. However, I cannot enter the required information to receive shipping.
I work as an archaeologist in the Middle East (I live on a US military base). I have a USA military mailing address (APO AE). Shipping costs to and from my location is the same as anywhere else within the US.
I don't live in a county (required field) and AE is not available from the scroll down option of the state (where AE is usually entered). Even if I had a local country mailing address, the country isn't available in the scroll down list of countries.
I will not be in the USA or anywhere near an Apple store for many months.
How can I get my battery recalled?

Matt - your situation is unique - I'm sure calling that number suggested will help you out.
now if shipping costs are the same to where you are, why don't you just ship the battery to family back in the US, and have them ship you the replacement - since there should only be a nominal additional cost?
I think this would work out well for you.
Keep in mind this battery return will be around probably for as long as you own your Mac Book Pro. It's also an "optional" recall - since they didn't contact us about a defect. Had I not surfed these forums, i wouldn't have known I was eligible for one either.
So send to family, and have them send to you - just wait until you return to the US - or just call that number

  • Returning recalled battery

I've just had a frustrating half an hour on the phone to UPS and then to Apple...
I live in the UK and need to return my recalled battery to the Netherlands. According to UPS, Apple have enclosed the wrong type of shipping address label (a UPS Express Saver prepaid label) and what I need is a UPS Standard Service label...UPS won't collect my recalled battery unless I have the "correct" label.
So I rang Apple and got a pleasant but puzzled person to talk to who had not heard of this before......to cut a long story short he told me I do not need to return my battery to Apple.
I told him that contradicts what is enclosed with my new battery ie: that I will be asked to pay the cost of a new battery unless I return my recalled one within 10 days. He told me not to worry about that....so I've asked him for that in writing...nothing has popped into my inbox yet (approx 7 hours later), so we'll see.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
Do I HAVE to return my recalled battery?
    Will I be charged if I don't?
How do I dispose safely of these types of
    batteries?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Not sure about the UK, but Apple is open on the weekends here in the US. Keep in mind that these batteries fall into a special category and it’s possible that you’re receiving the “party line” answer when you talk with Apple about returns. It’s true, they want to validate most returned components so that they aren’t simply replacing things based on your word. The defective battery issue was set in stone, based on known parameters, so there isn’t anything to validate. Also, I still have my old battery after receiving my replacement over a month ago and I haven't received any notice or charge to return it. I was never asked to provide a billing method when I filed my claim. Many owners are keeping their batteries for good measure. In fact, my old or so-called “defective” battery works better than the new replacement. I’m using my old battery right now because the new battery causes my Mac run hot - go figure.

  • I removed my battery in an attempt to insert a SIM card, obviously without knowing how to insert the SIM card. I put the battery back into place and it was already charged 100%, but it's stuck in recovery mode. I've already restored it, but it won't boot.

I was trying to insert a SIM card into my iPhone 4 without actually knowing how to do so. I assumed that I was to remove the back of the phone and find a slot for it near the battery. I removed the battery in an attempt to find a SIM slot, and was obviously unsuccessful. I put the battery back into place and screwed the phone back plate back on. Note: the battery was fully charged and the iPhone was working perfectly fine before. After screwing the iPhone back into place properly, I thought, I attempted to cut the phone on and it would not do so. I put it back on the charger, and the screen came up that says "Connect to iTunes". I obviously couldn't do so if its plugged into the wall. I plugged into the computer, connected it to iTunes, went through the Recovery mode process, and it still won't turn on. The computer says that the iPhone is in Recovery mode, but iTunes can't do anything because it has already been restored. When I disconnect it from the computer, I hold all buttons in all possible combinations, but it won't turn on at all. When I plug it into the wall, it again says to connect to iTunes. I don't know if I damaged the battery or any part within the iPhone, but I was sensitive in my approach to removing the battery and putting it back in, and there is no visible damage whatsoever. I am extremely frustrated and in desperate need of Apple-Pro help.

do you have a cdma iphone 4? becauase cdma iphones dont have a sim card slot... the providers that use cdma technology here in the us would be verizion, sprint, criket, ect... if you want to use your iphone 4 on att or tmobile (gsm carriers). then you would need a gsm iphone 4 (has sim card slot). a gsm iphone 4 is different than a cdma iphone 4 (they have different radio chips). maby you missed the sim card slot? sim card slot would be on the side of the phone.. never inside (unless it has a removable back cover like the galaxy s3 or s4), if you dont see a sim card slot on the side of the phone than you have a cmda iphone 4. can you tell me what carrier you are trying to use?

  • HT5312 My recovery email is no longer in use, as it hasn't been used for sometime, and now seems to have 'expired', and I do not even recall being asked the security questions,so I can no longer download certain games. Please help.

I cannot download certain games because I do not recall the answers to my security questions when it asks if I am 17 years or older. In fact, I do not even recall being asked these security questions.
I tried to guess logical answers but now my iPad is threatening to lock me out. My second email is no longer in use as it has not been used for years and has seemingly expired.
    Can you please help?

If you don't have access to your rescue email account, or you don't have one on your account (an alternate/secondary email address is a different setting/address), then you will need contact iTunes Support or Apple to get the questions reset (you won't be able to change/add a rescue email address until you can answer 2 of your questions)
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down the page that you posted from to update/add a rescue email address for potential future use

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get them reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'

I have purchased I phone 4S on April 30th 2014. Since I bought this phone, I have been facing issues such as Battery Back up, Software and Hardware issue and hang issue. I had visited I store last month where they just formatted my phone. The issues were not taken care completely, even till now the issues are on. I would appreciate if you could help me with the right escalation desk for raising my voice to Apple team.

Hello, when you are having an error on your iPhone and going to the Apple store to get it taken care of, make sure you speak up and provide as much detail as you can. The first iPad Mini I had bought had errors on it, and I didn't speak up and provide further details on my issue.
Hope your issue gets resolved soon!

Please don't respond with useless comments.  I've already addressed the fact that my screen was broken a few months ago.  My phone may or may not be broken beyond repair either way, as I said before I can't afford a new phone.  It's a strange problem because from what I can tell no one else has posted the same problem anywhere I can find.  Don't be a dickhole.

  • UCS C200 M2 - RAID Card R200-PL004 battery back-up

During the installation of a LSI 6G MegaRAID 9260-4i, I'm prompted with the statements "The battery is missing" and "Protect against data loss in the event of a server or power failure by providing emergency power to the cache memory."
Can anyone tell me if the battery back-up (R2XX-LBBU) for the LSI 6G MegaRAID 9260-4i (R200-PL004) is required or just simply a recommendation to prevent loss of data during a power failure?  The ordering guide says "Battery Back-Up Option Available" so I'm assuming this is not a mandatory item for purchase.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,

    1.
Yes there is a bluetooth problem. I can received the same file from my other phone but cannot with laptop.
    It works with phones.
    2.
Battery backup is okay for me. Don't run too many apps and leave them in background. Close them by long pressing menu key and selecting X.
    3.
For backup memory card is needed.
As we go for software update or reinstall all data gets deleted. So it needs removable memory card.

  • Hows ur battery back up on using internet 3g

i Hve new 4s but his battery back up is not good

Yes, auto-shutdown on power fail is a good idea. You will get an orderly shutdown, i.e., closing applications and documents, when power goes off. The auto-shutdown is set up in System Preferences/Energy Saver/UPS/set UPS options. (The computer should be powered by the UPS, and the UPS connected to the computer via USB cable). I use ‘shutdown when UPS reaches 90%’. NOTE: if using an APC-brand UPS, the APC “Power-Chute” software MUST NOT BE INSTALLED! It will prevent the Apple Energy Saver software from working, even if the UPS is recognized! An APC Power-Chute uninstaller comes with their .pkg download, in case you've already installed it.

  • Battery backed raid card

    Hi,
I've been trying to determine whether there are any hardware raid cards with battery backed cache that are supported by Solaris 10 and offer online management and diagnostic utilities. The LSI Logic 320-2x (which is repackaged by Sun) is now supported by the lsimega driver, but there is little to no documentation for it (+broken links on sun.com).
Cards like this usually offer both BIOS-based configuration as well as online utilities. Some cards and the corresponding drivers may be managed using raidctl, but I cannot determine which cards and drivers.
If any body has links to documentation or personal experience that will enlighten me, it would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Michael

I was going to respond with my personal view, but this wikipedia page describes it adequately.
    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redundant_array_of_independent_disks:
"With a software implementation, the operating system manages the disks of the array through the normal drive controller (IDE, SCSI, Fibre Channel or any other). With present CPU speeds, software RAID can be faster than hardware RAID, though at the cost of using CPU power which might be best used for other tasks. One major exception is where the hardware implementation of RAID incorporates a battery backed-up write cache and an application, like a database server. In this case, the hardware RAID implementation flushes the write cache to a secure storage to preserve data at a known point if there is a crash. The hardware approach is faster and limited instead by RAM speeds, the amount of cache and how fast it can flush the cache to disk. For this reason, battery-backed caching disk controllers are often recommended for high transaction rate database servers. In the same situation, the software solution is limited to no more flushes than the number of rotations or seeks per second of the drives. Another disadvantage of a pure software RAID is that, depending on the disk that fails and the boot arrangements in use, the computer may not be able to be rebooted until the array has been rebuilt."
