Shock from AV Adapter for iPad

Ive had a mild electric shock from apples AV Adapter for iPad, and can see it has developed a split in the rubber casing, which has blown out at one end. Ive tried to talk to apple about this, but had no real responce so far. Ive had it for about 15 months now, so I dont supose they will replace it even though it started acting up and overheating some months back, but was told thats normal. I rreally think a so called high quality product (priced £35) should last longer and more importantly be safe. Whatever happens I wont be using it again. Has anyone else had any problems with this item ?

no but there are component and composite versions which does work with 3gs

    Apple Crew ,
I bought 2 Apple Digital AV Adapters “HDMI” (30 pin Digital TV Adapter "for IPad 2" - Lightning Digital AV Adapter "for IPad mini") three days ago.
I’ve used my iPad 2 to connect with Samsung Smart TV via 30 pin Digital AV Adapter “HDMI”,
The iPad 2 instantly connect to the television, but the problem is that the TV displayed screen (mirror) isn't full screen. I tried with every setting on my iPad and also on the television but still no luck and the screen still appear in small size.
I’ve used my iPad mini to connect with Samsung Smart TV via Lightning Digital AV Adapter “HDMI”,
    but also the same problem
I tried connecting with other televisions but the same result
It only works with iPhone with Full Screen!!!!!
I need to solve this issue as I paid almost 95 $ and for the first time I didn’t get the service I need from apple!! (Which I didn’t expect)

  • Is there a firewire to HDMI adapter for IPAD 4?

Is there a firewire to HDMI adapter for IPAD 4?

It's called the "Lightning" connector. Here is the adapter you need:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter
The Lightning Digital AV Adapter mirrors exactly what you see on your device so that everyone in the room can enjoy it on your widescreen TV, video projection screen, or other HDMI-compatible display. The Lightning Digital AV Adapter also supports video out for watching movies, TV shows, and more.
You can also stream wirelessly using AirPlay but that requires Apple TV. Streaming music or other audio requires an AirPort Express or compatible device.

  • Help re adapter for ipad 4

Where can I get a lightning 8 pin OTG to USB adapter for my ipad 4 please?

Yeah - you can't import your photos directly to a USB. You must import them to a computer or use a cloud service like Dropbox or SugarSync to store them.
Your iCloud backup will keep your photos, but once you delete them from the phone, the subsenquent backups that you do won't have them. So it is not a permanent storage. Use one of the cloud services if you don't have a computer.

  • Can I force the A/V adapter for IPad to output a certain orientation?

I got the A/V Adapter for my iPad 2 and all is well except there's an app I need to demonstrate that 'technically' runs in portrait mode, although you use the app in landscape.
Much to my dismay, the output auto-rotates and the app appears on its side on my television. I am hoping that there's a way to 'lock' the output to landscape mode, although I fear the worst.
Does anyone have any information on this subject?
    Thanks,
    Nick

Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it.
According to this page on the Apple website, you can save up to $30 on an iPad with education pricing - http://store.apple.com/us/browse/campaigns/back_to_school
With that, and the lower prices of iPad air in the US, I'll be saving $130 on a 16 GB Wi-Fi model if I bought it in the US than I would in India. Considering that Apple is a very reliable company and that I get sufficient time to use the iPad in the US to learn about any defects (if any) in it, I think I can take the risk of the Indian Apple store not honoring the warranty. Even if the product shows some defect in India, I can use the $130 which I would have saved to get it repaired.
    Any views regarding this?

  • [Solved] Found a Tripod Adapter for iPad

I've seen these tripod mounts for ipads used by apple themselves at demo setups. We purchased a few and they work great. The thing we like about them is that you can use it with your case so you dont have to take them off every time you want to use the mount. Also it fits every generation of ipads to the current date. Highly recommended

Not convinced you will be able to get a usb attached scanner to work.
You can used the camera as a scanner.

  • USB Adapter for iPad 3

Can i conntect the ipad 3 thru the camera connection kit with an external harddrive? My idea is to upload pics from my digicam to ipad and from ipad to external harddrive. Is this possible? What options do I have?
    Thanks!

There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.
    Another option:

  • HT4108 Vga adapter for ipad not supported

I've been using the vga adapter with a projector, but of late I've not been able to use it with my ipad2.

    Hi nlrutt,
You do not mention whether your issue - a 30 pin to VGA adapter not working with your iPad - is with an Apple adapter or not. I will assume that it is and therefore it should function correctly.
I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
iOS: About Apple Digital AV Adapters
    Specifically -
    Troubleshooting
If you encounter an issue using the Apple Digital AV Adapter or VGA Adapter:
Disconnect and reconnect the adapter from the iOS device and display.
Connect directly to the TV, projector, or external display using a known-good VGA or HDMI cable.
Remove any VGA or HDMI extension cables or converters.
Note that accessories that convert a VGA or HDMI signal to other video formats (DVI, Composite, Component) are not supported.
Ensure that you are using the latest version of iOS. Some Apple Digital AV Adapters require iOS 5.1 or later.
Note: When using an Apple Digital AV Adapter manufactured before early 2012 with iPad (3rd generation), you may see the "This accessory is not supported" alert. Dismissing the alert will allow you to use the adapter.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • PDF Forms from InDesign, Acrobat for iPad

I have downloaded (& thrown away) a number of PDF apps, adobe reader is one and pretty good yet it still does not handle filling in the form fields created in InDesign &/or Acrobat Pro very well. My document works great on the computer and even 95% works on the Adobe Reader app on my iPad but when I go to email the filled out form from the iPad app, most of the fields end up blank or blacked out. Am I using the wrong PDF app or is there something else I need to do in InDesign or Acrobat before sending to my iPad to fill out the form? PDF Expert looks promising but I want some advice before I spend $10 for something that may not work.
    Any help would be great,
    Thank you

Your conclusions are basically correct. There's nothing you can do except create the best PDF editor on an iPad.

  • Hdmi adapter for Ipad has very bad resolution

    Hallo
When i plug in my new Ipad digital-av adapter into my TV or projector the resolution is very bad and not shape.
Do you also have this problem?

You've identified that Acrobat's export of the image to PNG was spot on ("... on my Mac it is sharp.").
Some possible sources of the web based image being of "bad resolution" present themselves.
--| Some web based image hosting services provide uploaders that actually downsample an image.
This is to reduce the image file's size and results in destructive remove of pixels. File size is smaller and resoultion can/does take a hit.
--| There may be an issue related to the brower used. You could always install and try out other browsers to check this.
--| You local machine may have a failing graphics card.
There may be other issues. A web search might turn up some leads.
Regardless, neither Acrobat nor Adobe Reader are web browsers and neither are "image viewers" for image file formats such as PNG.
    Be well...

  • Replacement adapter for ipad

Recently my original power adapter quit charging.  I tried another and it didn't charge my ipad either.  Thinking it may be something stupid I headed to Walmart and bought another Apple adapter.  It is charging very slowly (like 40% on about 8 hours) and losing charge just as quickly.  What can I do?  Where do I start?

few troubleshooting bits - and you may have done these
Make sure it's an iPad charger not an iPhone one. iPhone chargers don't put out enough power. They'll do a trickle charge which shows up as not charging.
try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. Once it reboots try again. Sometimes that port gets shut off and resetting turns it back on.
Beyond that, usually when an iPad wont' charge it's
    Bad outlet
    Bad charger
    bad cable.
you've swapped out the charger so you can try swapping out the others to rule them in or out.
If that doesn't do it then the problem may be bigger. You can try going into your settings and 'reset all settings'. Beyond that it may be an issue with the port itself and that is beyond a user fix. If all the troubleshooting doesn't fix it then it's time to make an appointment at your local apple store and have them look at it.

  • HP Scanjet5500c dark images from TMA adapter for 35mm slides

Scanned 35mm slides using the TMA adapter turn out very dark, not suitable for printing. So dark people in the images are identifiable.
Should there be light showing from the TMA adapter in addition to the flatbed scanner? If so, that's my problem, a burned out bulb. Long time since I've used the TMA adapter so I can't recall if the adapter had a light when new.
    Looking forward to your responses.
    Thanks

    Hi there @talker2002
    Welcome to the forums
By your description, it does seem like a burnt out bulb. As HP does not replace the actual bulbs, I would suggest calling phone support directly to see what your options are.
