Shock wave

my shock wave keeps crashing in a game i play on facebook, only does it on cityville please help,my cookies and all files have been cleaned

 Hi,
I would try a clean install of the Flash Player plugin first as follows.
First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your Desktop.
Flash Player Uninstaller.
When the download has completed, close all browser windows and run the uninstaller.  After this has completed, restart the notebook.
Next, download and install Firefox and then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash.  Note: You may want to deselect the option to include McAfee Security Scan Plus before downloading.
Close all browser windows before running the Flash installer.
Launch Firefox and see if CityVille  plays Ok in this browser - if it does, close Firefox, open Internet Explorer and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component.  When done, restart Internet Explorer.
Regards,
DP-K

I tried to uninstall and reinstall shock wave player and it still shows a green screen. Would really like to get this problem fixed

I asked for this post to be moved to the forum where it belongs, but that hasn't happened.

  • To insert hand_right shock wave flash

Pleas let me know the following
    1. how I can insert hand_right shock wave flash in a question
    slide
    2. What is the ways to give back gound music as a continous
loop and also from where how I can download the back gound music as
    free
    With thanks
    Pol

    Hi Pol
I'm losing you on the Flash bit. What is hand_right? Is this
    something you created?
Normally to insert a Flash object you click Insert >
Animation and browse to where the object resides. Have you tried
    that?
As for background music, click Audio > Background Audio
    followed by the Import button.
    www.FlashKit.com offers some
music files there. I'm sure some Googling and other searching could
reveal lots more sites offering music clips. The big issue with
those is copyright and possible infringement. But that's a whoe
    other gnarly issue.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Shock wave 11.8.800.94 keeps crashing in Firefox 22.0 with Windows 7 Home Premium

''locking this outdated thread - please start your own questions thread here - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new''
After several minutes on a webpage that uses Shockwave, the page will crash and the browser will freeze. Then I get an error message saying a plugin has stopped working and asks if I want to continue or stop the plugin. I have been unable to get the page to startworking again. It requires me to quit Firefox and restart the browser.

blah blah blah! disable this disable that, reset blah blah
FLASH 11.x + Firefox does not work end of story (my OS is Windows 7 64bit)
This problem has been going on for ages now and neither Mozilla or Adobe have a fix for it.

  • Why does Shock Wave keep crashing? Only crashes on Firefox browser.

Every time I use Firefox browser, I get the error message: "Shockwave Flash is either busy or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the plug in now, or wait to see if the plug in will complete." I also get another one saying that the "Silverlight script is still running" and then I have to wait several minutes before I can view the page. I have uninstalled Silverlight Flash and reinstalled, yet I keep getting either that message or the "script is still running" one ONLY on Firefox. It freezes my web page screen for several minutes. When I use Safari, this never happens. Plug-ins work just fine. It appears that without Silverlight or Shockwave Flash that I cannot watch any videos. I tried YouTube and couldn't open any videos without Silverlight.
Please don't suggest resetting Firefox because I've already done that. I still cannot open Yahoo.com home page because I keep getting an error message and I have to go around it by opening news.yahoo.com instead. I have Windows 7 on an Acer laptop.
Meanwhile I have reset my default browser to Safari, even though I don't have an Apple computer. It works better than Firefox. Are you planning on fixing the rampant plug-in problem with Firefox?

I have the exact same problem on my ipad mini. It says 'google earth is running low on memory' and crashes.

  • Why does shock wave player crash in both firefox and internet explorer after latest update?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have cleaned my beowser history. I have leaned my registry. I do not know what to do and it is interupting my game play. DOes anyone know a fix? I use windows 8.

On all sites, or one in particular? What about the Welcome page - does it crash too?

  • Adobe shock wave flash is causing Mozilla Firefox to lose window focus.

WhenI leave a website open in Mozilla Firefox and then shut my laptop and leave it over night, then turn on my laptop the next day and open Mozilla Firefox and start using it my window loses focus so that I can't scroll or type without clicking somewhere on the screen to regain window focus. I am running windows 8.1 with the most recent version of the schockwave flash plugin. (17.0.0.169). I am also using the most recent and updated version of Mozilla Firefox. Why am I losing window focus? It seems to only happen after starting up my computer after leaving a webpage open from the day before.

I think Adobe might have solved this by now, but there used to be a problem where when you launched a new window using Flash, you would get switched to a different window. The workaround was to disable the protected mode feature of the Flash player plugin. It has security benefits, but seems to have compatibility issues on some systems.
The old instructions were somewhat arduous; fortunately, there is a new hidden setting for this:
    (A) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (B) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''flash''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (C) Double-click the '''dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode''' preference to switch its value from false to true.
This might not take effect until all Flash has been unloaded for a few minutes, or you close Firefox.
Before that preference was added, the way to disable protected mode was by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that if it turns out to be necessary (if Flash EXE processes continue to show up in the Windows Task Manager, Processes tab, even after changing the Firefox preference):
    * Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
    * Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
    * Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078 (alternate version of Carm's batch file with a few changes by me: [https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=f7d304d92388737d&id=F7D304D92388737D!336&ithint=file,.bat&authkey=!AP2FXW2Y_3BXZyo])
Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.
    Any improvement?

  • Windows Update - Shock Doesn't Work in IE

Hi. I have Windows 7 and IE 11.0.9.  Yesterday there was an automatic Windows update and changes were made to IE.  Now I have problems with Shock.  I go to this news website and for every video it tells me that I need Adobe Shock Wave, but I do. I tried all the troubleshooting for Shock on your website but nothing works.  http://www.cbc.ca/news I did try re-installing Shock but it did not solve the problem even though it congratulates me saying my new Shock works.  I have a copy of Chrome and tried the same web page and the videos work.  I’ve thought of uninstalling the Windows update, but not fussy about that.

Ah ha!  I found some information from the website that I noted in my opening question. I am on Windows 7 but believe this is the answer to my problem.  Announcement below.
"Microsoft recently updated Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 11 to include a bundled version of Flash in the browser.
This has caused issues on multiple sites, including ours, whereby the user is prompted to download Flash, even though they already have it.
Please be advised that this is not a problem with the video delivery platform, but Microsoft code (IE 11). Microsoft is working on a patch to fix this problem.
In the meantime, the best workaround is to use a different browser."

  • Problems with Firefox 13. Can't see online audio file player. Video only works on some sites. All works OK in I.E. Updated Flash. No Change

Problems began when Firefox 13 automatically updated. tried downloading latest version of Flash 11.2.202.235. No change.
Video works sometimes on YouTube, not at all on most other sites.
Audio player not working at all. Either not even visible or downloads to real player versus playing within application such as Amazon.
Tried enabling/disabling Add ons to find culprit. No luck.
Everything as it should be in Internet Explorer.
On my WordPress site has MP3 audio files, and uses a flashplayer to display and play music files. With flash player on, nothing displays at all, (bank space where audio player would normally be displayed)
If I disable shock wave flash, a text link is displayed that downloads the MP3 in a new window (quick player), Also video doesn't work on any website. If I disable Flash and quicktime, text link to audio file downloads to realplayer.

hello msandman, there have been quite a few issues with adobe's latest flash update - can you try if flash content is showing up correctly again, when you disable the real-player components like mentioned in the following article: [[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox]]?
otherwise you could also try to remove flash 11.3 from the windows control panel/programs section & [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580 downgrade to the 10.3 branch of the plugin], which is still receiving security updates.

  • I need to uninstall Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 14.0 r0

I need to uninstall Adobe® Flash® Player Installer/Uninstaller 14.0 r0 but have looked everywhere for how to do this & can not find out how to do this can someone please help? I am using A Sony Vaio, Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, I use Chrome Version 36.0.1985.143 m.
I want to get it off of my system because ever since I installed it I have had problems with Chrome loading it does not want to load then if I restart my comptuter & I click on chrome  5 windows open up at one time a white box appears saying "Your profile can not be used because it is from a newer browser version of google chrome. Some features may be available. Please specify a different profile directory  or use a different version of chrome" then if you click ok it shuts all the windows down. I have figured a way to get one window to stay open so I can use chrome, now I do have other browser I can use but I do not like them  at all & do not have a flash player since mine is built in with Chrome. So on to the other problem that began as soon as I downloaded this & I understand it may not be this but I still want to get it off of my computer. I also have been having trouble with my flash player error messages: saying it has stopped working constantly, it says upgrade flash text, a plug in shock wave flash isn't responding then in (stop plug in) it wants you to hit.  I have run 3 different Mallware programs through my computer just in case that was one question that was going to be ask. No other programs jave been downloaded wither.
I am not very good with computers so I have to come to places like this for help & I really have to have help explaining what to do because  do not know much about computers other then getting on them & surfing the web & some basic things. When chromes message said specify a different profile directory that went right over m head. So that should give you an idea where I am coming from. I want to thank you in advance & hope I have made sense in what I have written I tried to give all the information that I could.

Your screenshot of task manager clarifies things.
When I replied, I had been looking at the screenshot of the desktop from the original poster, which shows the uninstaller executable and it's properties.  That executable doesn't install anything -- it can just be dragged to the trash; however, that didn't completely align with the behaviors either of you were describing, and we've been trying to figure out what you were talking about.  It wasn't making a lot of sense to me, and it's not a question that I've seen come up before, at least not articulated this way.
FlashUtil32_XX_XX_XX_XX.exe is the sandbox broker for Internet Explorer.  You can read more about the sandbox work here: Flash Player Security with Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10
The description listed in Task Manager is a bug, and the source of the confusion.  We've been doing a lot of work modernizing our build systems, and this is fallout from that work. This is something I'd like to see cleaned up, but it's pretty low on the list of priorities.
The broker service is invoked when Internet Explorer is running in Protected Mode.  On my Windows 7 machine running IE 10, running Flash content in Internet Explorer with Protected Mode enabled causes the broker service to be invoked (this is probably true for previous versions as well, but I didn't test them).  If I disable Protected Mode and restart Internet Explorer, the broker is not invoked, which is expected.
To disable Protected Mode, launch Internet Explorer and choose security.  Uncheck Enable Protected Mode.  Internet Explorer will restart, and you should be able to verify that the broker is no longer invoked when loading content with Flash Player.
I've included a screenshot showing the expected processes in both scenarios below.  As the Flash Player ActiveX control is loaded into an Internet Explorer process, you'll see the child explorer.exe process listed, which hosts the Flash ActiveX control in the process list.
Sandboxing the Flash Player plug-in is an important security mitigation intended to increase the cost of successfully developing and deploying malware.  While it's not a panacea, it significantly raises the bar for attackers.  As I'm sure you've read in the news and trade literature, the threat landscape has evolved significantly over the last few years, and modern security threats and their mitigations are a necessary reality.  New mitigations typically come with some additional processing overhead.  The overhead varies based on the architectural choices made by the particular browser vendors, but the overhead in IE is pretty reasonable.
We haven't published a blog post specific to IE, but if you're interested in the implementation details, the sandbox architecture is similar to what we did with Protected Mode for Firefox on Windows.  The Flash Player process that handles untrusted content runs at Low Integrity, which restricts access to critical system resources in the event that you encounter malware designed to take control of the Flash Player process.  Access to system resources is negotiated through a Medium Integrity broker process.  Without Protected Mode, the Flash Player process handling untrusted content runs at Medium Integrity, making it easier for malware to escalate privileges from a hijacked process.  Depending on the functionality in play, a lot of message-passing can take place between IE, the broker and Flash Player.  We've effectively doubled the number of messages that get passed, plus put a bunch of validation checks in, and all of that consumes CPU.  It also makes your web browsing activity more secure.
Some desktop applications (Yahoo Messenger, for example) also use the ActiveX version of Flash Player installed on your machine.  This could explain why you see Flash Player and the broker invoked unexpectedly.  We're also aware of an issue on Vista where the broker doesn't always exit as expected.  In that instance (and on WinXP), I'd highly recommend that people use Google Chrome for web browsing, as Google has extended some security mitigations that would only be available to Internet Explorer users running in newer versions of Windows, and it doesn't suffer from this specific issue with the broker.

  • Upgrading an IMac G5 OSX 10.3.9 from Panther to Leopard?

I have been given contradictory info from the Apple sales dept. I have been told I could upgrade to
Leopard...and that I could only use Tiger. What is the truth? My Safari quits frequently and I can not
interface with some websites properly. So not sure Tiger would be that helpful? Help?

If the Flash, Shockwave and possibly Java (among other) items are not up to date, or if you are using an
obsolete browser to visit modern web pages, this may manifest itself as an issue in Panther 10.3.9 & later.
There is no really new Java update for Panther, so that probably is as far as it goes. The Flash & Shock-
wave items, in the proper version for Panther support, and removal of old versions, is often the issue.
Safari is not updated for Panther. You can choose to get Camino (mozilla) and it supports Panther 10.3.9
as well as the newer Mac OS X systems. The Adobe Flash player and Shockwave items often require a
previous version be uninstalled prior to installing a newer one. With Panther, you have to be sure you can
get a newer player item before you trash the old version. One of these players includes an uninstaller in
their download .dmg; the other you have to manually remove the offending parts to uninstall. This will allow
the newer supported Shockwave and Flash player items to install.
These two players generally work across several browsers. Your Safari browser may be beyond these up-
dates. A newer Safari is not supported by your older Panther 10.3.9. And generally, an upgrade may not help
an issue where certain updates or free downloads and installations where overlooked in an older version.
The field would change & other newer items would need to be gotten (also) & updated in the newer system.
If the computer can support it. Sometimes, this may mean adding RAM, a larger hard disk drive, and other
hardware upgrades. A newer system could allow you continued use with later versions of apps.
For ideas on what computer hardware configurations support which OS X versions, you could get a free
download of a database that runs offline once you get it, from http://mactracker.ca and read about yours.
Other causes of general system slowness include a lack of working free space on the hard disk drive,
and the need to perform maintenance on a routine basis. Insufficient chip RAM installed may also be
an area where changes could be made in the hardware configuration of the computer if it is slow.
    Good luck & happy computing!
