Shocking speeds since I signed up

Can anyone help shed some light on my speed issues for me please??
When i signed up to BT I was quoted speeds of 2.5 - 6.5Meg.
When i was connected I was recieving speeds of around 0.4Meg from Talk Talk. when i changed over to BT I got the exact same 0.4Meg.
I called to complain about my speed and was then told I had to wait 10days before anyone would look into my speed issues - This annoyed me as it had not been mentioned at any time before I was connected.
After 10 days with speeds ranging from 0.02 to 0.6meg I contacted BT again to be told I needed a reset and that there was a line fault and to wait 10 more days
So 20 days in and still running at 0.4 meg, then after another age on the phone to BT, more resets and testing of things I had by this time done countless times at BT's request, I have to wait 2 weeks for an engineer to attend my house. (this was actually booked without any discussion or planning with me...)
So the engineer attends, goes to the cab for several hours and returns saying he has sorted various things there but the best incommer at the cab is 5.7meg.
He installs a new master socket into the house, removes the only other unused socket from the house, re makes the connection from the telegraph pole to my house and we test and get 2.3Meg... Good but not the promised speed at the time of sign up.
The enigheer says there are a very high number of errors on the line according to his test equipment, that is the best speed he can achieve and that my profile should be reset.
The next day, another open reach van arrives 3 dorrs up the road, my speed is already down to 2meg before it dropps out altogether for an hour or so, returning back at 0.2 meg.
I call to report this and the whole process starts again and im told i require a profile reset! Now i have been with BT for 6 weeks and this is at least the 5th time i have been reset.
I now have a woman calling me every few days to follow up on my issue, and we go through the process of changing the WiFi channel and the speed gets up to 1.3 - 1.5Meg and im asked if i am happy with this, I answer no as I was sold 2.5 meg Min and this has still not been achieved, how long do i have to keep resetting and changing WiFi channels before this works?????
Some information:
I have one socket in the house, I have afilter installed into this (tested with many filters now)
I have a 6 week old home hub 3
Speeds i am currently running at are around 0.2 - 0.4 meg then around 1.4 - 1.6 meg after changing WiFi channels.
WiFi speeds and wired speeds are the same at the same times within reason.
My phone line is clear but my speed is shocking.
I have missed out a lot of what has gone on with hours upon hours on the phone to BT, no call backs etc but overall i have to say the level of service i have recieved from BT has been hurrendous. after 6 weeks to be not even close to the speeds promised except for around 6 hours is not acceptable.
Has anyone got any ideas that may help at all as i am at the point of pulling my contract from BT and taking my custom elsewhere.

Strange how lines can actually vary alot in speed :L

  • Slow Browser (Safari) Speed Since Upgrading to 10.8

    Hello- I upgraded to Mountain Lion from Lion last week. I have noticed a signficant slow down in browser performance since upgrading. Very slugish now. I noticed it immediately, but thought I'd give it time and different internet connections. Nope... still very noticeable.
    Problem: Slow browsing speed since going from 10.7 to 10.8
    Setup: 10.8.5 with latest safari, MBair 2012 w/SSD and 8GB ram - Plenty of disk space
    What I've tried: Fixing permissions, cleaning cache, reseting safari, cleaning cookies, DNS (open vs. google vs. standard)
    Any advice? Thx.

    Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them.
    1. Have you restarted your router and broadband modem since you first noticed the problem? If the answer is no, do that now and see whether there's any change.
    2. Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same?
    3. What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
    4. Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
    5. If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
    6. If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Slow Burn Speed Since Updating to 5.0.1

    Has anyone else noticed a weird change in burning speeds since updating to 5.0.1? It seems to have doubled the length of time that it takes for an nour long CD to burn (around 6 minutes).

    I have just wasted eight CD's trying to burn a compilation. A message keeps coming up "Burn speed is too fast for the device or the media" and that I need to get into iTunes Preferences to adsjust the speed setting of burning. I've gone from52X down to 4X and APPARENTLY Mit's still too fast! This never happened before I updated to 5.0.1. I have no idea what's going on.

    I encountered a problem a few weeks ago which is a bit like yours. In my case my Apple ID stopped working after I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I finally found out it was because of the fact that my Apple ID has in fact been an alias within my much older MobileMe/iCloud account. And they weren't able to merge or reset the account at first. It took me a lot of mails and a few calls to get them to resetting the account and changing my Apple ID (for the Apple Store, iTunes, etc.) to a different, non-iCloud related email adress.
    Anyway, maybe you can call the Apple Support and kindly ask them to reset the password for this ominous @me.com account so you can finally start using it.
    Did you try logging into iCloud using your adress with the appendix @me.com because not everybody has got the @icloud.com ending yet. Technically it's no problem to create a new iCloud account. I can understand though that you'd like to get "your name" back .

    so have you tried the test socket?  if your master looks like this   then test behind bottom half.  this is your best connection as it is direct to the exchange and eliminates any noise problems caused by your internal wiring

    No, I'm the only one with access to my computer. I deleted all the unwanted songs and I hope they stay deleted. I found all my original songs in another folder. How they got there, I'll never know. It took a while, but I got all my songs back in the iTunes music library where they were before I got tangled up in this iTunes Match boondoggle. Apple has a ways to go before I'll mess with it again. By the way, you have to watch out for sisters.

  • Poor Speeds Since the Start Of January in kent Inf...

    i have had infinity 2 since August last year and always had a steady 70-75mb down and 18-20mb up, well that was until the start of January and the best i can get is 55mb down and 12mb up. I have a Asus router running off and openreach modem as i am not a fan of the HH5 they sent me (cant even use your own DNS!). This set up works really well for me.
    I have rest both the router and the modem: still the same. connected directly in to the openreach modem:still the same. I have seen a few post on here which seem to say the same thing about a drop in speed since January.
    Any ideas?
    I have run the wholesale spped test which seem to say my ip profile is down, why would this be???:

     Looks like DLM has capped your speeds in order to deal with some instability it has detected on your line. The noise margin is above the target of 6 so your speeds should recover after the line has been stable for about 10 days.

  • Slow Speeds since Install. Mods??

    Any Mod brave enough to look into this one ????
    It's gotten to the point of me not trusting a thing Support say and they don't seem to listen to a word I say.
    I was told before signing up "Infinity will never slow down"
    "The speed we estimate for your line is the speed you will get"
    Since having Infinity Installed 04/04/2011, my speeds during the day are good at 35mb,
    but slows down every night, sometimes as low as 4mb.
    I reported this to BB support,explaining clearly that the connection is fine during the day,
    but seems to be suffering from congestion slowdowns in the evenings.
    I've been on the phone constantly since opening another fault report on 7th May.
    The first few days consisted of BB Support calling me back in the mornings (when the speed is fine),
    telling me they changed something and it should be ok now,
    followed by me phoning at night when the speed dropped again.
    This was escalated a couple of times to the "engineering dept.", still no change.
    I soon realised that if I said my speed was fine at the time they asked, nothing was being done.
    11th May.
    An engineer was booked for my home for the 12th 8am-1pm.
    I tell them this was probably a waste of time as the problem only appears at night,
    and the line is fine during the day.
    12th May.
    Engineer calls about noon,very friendly,I explain the problem and we have a nice chat,
    line check was good 40/10, no surprise there then.
    BB Support phoned me as soon as the engineer had booked off the job,
    basically telling me the fault had been fixed as an engineer had been out and found no fault.
    I argued that they couldn't say that as the slowdowns only happen at night.
    I point out to them I've been using speedtester.bt and ask them to look at the results, they totally ignored this.
    Back on phone that night. The vicious circle starts again, another couple of days of callbacks telling me they changed something, and me calling them at night.
    15th May.
    Escalated again,I'm told a higher level engineer would visit the exchange and then my home.
    16th May.
    The same friendly openreach engineer turns up at 9am, I just smile and tell him he knows where it is.
    No faults on the line and he explains he has nothing to do with the exchange.
    Callback from BB Support around 3pm asking if my speed was fine now.
    I had just finished another speedtest (7.3mb) so, no it wasn't.
    Another engineer appointment made for 17th
    17th May.
    No engineer. 2 callbacks, go over the same old story. Engineer booked for 18th.
    18th May. No engineer. callback that night,by now I know the script by heart. Engineer booked for 19th.
    19th May. No engineer. Another booking for 20th.
    20th May Engineer calls, we have a chat, I explain the problem, engineer leaves.
    By this time I feel sorry for these Openreach guys,sent out to jobs they can't possibly fix.
    They could be out connecting other people to this superfast connection that I'm not getting.
    Callback in the afternoon,was told the engineer had contacted BT Wholesale, but no further info was given. They asked how my speed was, I ask them to call tomorrow after I log the usual slowdowns with speedtester.

    Thanks for your post,  but I've already been through all your points above.
    I have taken continual speedtests since the install with speedtester.bt as well as others.
    The really slow period is usually from around 8pm till 11pm.
    The 3 results above are just from last night.
    I keep records of everything
    The problem is that nobody looks at the speedtester results.
    If they did, they could see exactly when this was happening and maybe take the proper action,
    and save me going over the same sad story when speaking to the Indian call centre.

  • Poor performance and speed since 21CN Update.

    My Wholesale exchange was upgraded to BT21CN at the end of January. (MELLOR, LANCASHIRE)
    Before the upgrade :
    > We got about 6-7Mbps constantly. (BT Unlimited Broadband).  This was day and night via Speedtest.net and BT Speedtest
    > iPlayer and other services reliably streamed in HD at any time of day.
    > We didnt have any speed drops at night and could stream video content etc perfectly for years.
    Now everything has changed.......
    After the Update 31/01/14 :
    > Video from outside the UK is slow and constantly buffers. US Netflix for example no longer streams reliably.
    > Video and streming services from within the UK arent that great either. iPlayer and other services struggle to stream in HD - if ever. 
    > BT Speedtest says we get around 17-18Mbps. Speedtest.net Constantly says less than 5Mbps. BBC iPlayer speed tests only register 1.8Mbps. - we cant stream any HD Olympic services.
    > After 4pm speeds drop across the range of activities, video services like youtube, iplayer, netflix etc etc dont work unless the streaming quality is very low.
    > At night other Speedtest services report <3-4Mbps. BT still says above 17Mbps, buit we cant even use video and the internet feels slow.
    >IP Profile is 19.34Mbps.
    We pay for full unlimited BT Broadband however since the change to 21CN and a 20Mbps connection our service is now worse ! It almost feels as if we are being penalised or throttled for video and anything from outside the UK
    BT Speedtest is the only one that ever says we get high speeds- but we dont, we cant even reliably stream video.
    Cany anyone help??

    I have just set up a new cisco DPQ3925 wireless router that Optus sent me to be able to access the higher speed internet I have signed up for.
    I have a 4th gen apple extreme that I want to use to extend the wifi but when I try to update the settings via the airport utility I get a message that says it cannot do so, and to check it is in range and the wifi is set up correctly. I'm not experienced with these things but I can't think what I have done wrong.
    Is anybody able to help me please.

    You cannot use the AE to extend wireless from a non apple router such as your cisco modem router.. they are not compatible..
    You need to tie to the two devices together either with ethernet or something like EOP adapters.. They are about $120 and you can price match in officeworks.

  • Slow speed since connected

    I was with sky and getting 28mbps fibre, I decided to get bt infinity 2 and was told I would get these speeds

I have ran speed tests at speedtester.btwholesale.com and it says ip profile for my line is 27.7mbps I've reported it and now being monitored and they will be phoning me tomorrow, but I had an engineer out for my phone line last Saturday as advised by bt broadband help no phone fault but he told me he has found a fault with the fibre at the cabinet the ports are faulty and to get an engineer out to sort this well I've told bt broadband help this a few times since Saturday and they won't listen to me all they keep doing is making me do the same tests over and over and last night after they said they have rest my line ( still ip profile of 27.7) has refered it to some service team or something who will decide what to do. This is really annoying after all I've been told there is a fault and I'm paying for a service I'm not getting I should of stayed with sky. Sorry for the rant but nobody will listen I'm only telling them what one of bt engineers told me to tell them.
