Shockwave 11 Active X Crash

Just loaded the new Shockwave 11. Authorware crashes when I
try to insert a new Activex control into the flowline that
references the new Shockwave Activex. Anybody know why or how I can
avoid this issue?
Thanks in advance,
Joe Russell

_PlayerOne_,
No, I haven't made any progress on this. I can confirm that
it happens also in Director 11 and Director MX 2004. Director 11 is
a currently supported product and yet it experiences the same
error. I have also posted this to the director forums but no
response there. I have also explored calling it from Swing in Java,
same effect. Calling it in a Power Point presentation with Visual
Basic also causes it to crash.
I got the "compatibility player" portion to load but it
didn't have any effect on this issue.
No solution has presented itself. Currently, I am advising
our company and our customers to revert to the 10.3.0.24 version
and to avoid installing the 11.0.0.429 version until it gets fixed.
Unfortunately, this means Vista performance is poor but luckily our
customers haven't moved entirely to Vista.

  • Activity Monitor crashes every time I launch it since Leopard upgrade.

Activity Monitor crashes every time I try to launch it. It's done this ever since I first upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. I can't seem to narrow down why it happens. It doesn't seem to matter what's running already. I had it startup automatically when I had Tiger and upon the very first boot up in to Leopard it crashed and I've never been able to get it to run.
I saw one other person that said he had the exact same problem with Activity Monitor and the only way he was able to resolve his issue was by copying the program from another Mac. Well, I've only got one Mac. I've run the software update and installed all the available q and I still have this persistent problem.
Is it somehow possible to expand the file off the Leopard or Tiger DVD? Anyone have any other possible solutions? Are there other programs out there that will do the same thing as Activity Monitor?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Delete the com.apple.ActivityMonitor.plist file located in /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ and relaunch Activity Monitor. If that doesn't fix it, create a new admin user account, log into it, and see if the problem persists. If so, use Pacifist 2.5 to extract it from the install disk and replace the existing one and the plist file. If not, then you most likely have a conflicting or corrupted file somewhere in the old account. To fix that, delete the original account, selecting the save data option, recreate the old account using the same username/password combo, log out and back into the new account, open the saved data dmg file in /Users/Deleted Users/, and slowly replace stuff. Also, see the steps I posted for resolving conflicts/corrupt plists within an account at:

  • Shockwave/Flash Player crashes with every browser...Ugh.

I can't find a solution in this forum although a lot of people seem to be asking this question. Flash crashes constantly and it doesn't matter if I use Chrome, Firefox or IE. It's quite unbearable. I don't have multiple Flash players and if an add-on is causing this, I can't draw a link between it crashing and me disabling them. I've scanned for malware and gotten rid of anything found. No viruses that my virus protection reports. The problem just gets worse. It used to be occasionally, then multiple times a day, now its pretty much anytime I want to use Flash...which seems to be constantly. It freezes my computer then an error message comes up and says Shockwave player has crashed. I have updated shockwave and flash, so I have the most recent versions....any solutions?
    Thanks in advance.

If your machine had a recent malware infection, you might want to consider backing up your critical files and starting fresh.  It takes time for antivirus and anti-malware packages to discover and push signatures for new viruses, and it's standard practice to deploy new malware to ensure that an attacker maintains their foothold on a compromised machine.
If it was my personal machine, I would back up any critical data files, wipe the machine and re-install everything from pristine sources.  Not exactly convenient, but you can be reasonably sure that the system is running the software you expect (discounting the possibility of malware that compromises the system BIOS).
That said, there's not a lot of actionable information here.  I'd recommend uninstalling Flash Player and re-installing fresh.  You actually have three different Flash Players -- there's an ActiveX control for Internet Explorer, the NPAPI plug-in for Firefox and the PPAPI Flash Player for Chrome.  The PPAPI Flash Player for Chrome is totally encapsulated -- it doesn't even share settings.
SO... malware aside, the next most likely culprit is graphics drivers.  Each of the independent Flash Player installations attempts to use a hardware accelerated feature (like video playback), but the driver crashes.  Typically updating the graphics drivers would resolve this, or you can experiment with disabling hardware acceleration.  How do I disable or enable hardware acceleration? Windows: how do I update the device driver for my video/display adapter?

  • Why is my shockwave player always crashing while playing zynga farmville2 on FB?

while playing zynga farmville2 on FB, shockwave player continually crashes.  Sometimes it stops before the game finishes loading.  I usually end up killing the page.  I've used three different browsers and have problems in all three.  I've updated google chrome and that hasn't helped.  I have windows 7 starter edition.

I don't think these games are based on Shockwave Player; more likely Flash Player.
What is your Flash Player version?
What is your display adapter, driver version & date?

  • Shockwave flashplayer keeps crashing

Used FF exclusively for years. Installed new FF recently, started with an unresponsive script message, which led to message of Adobe Shockwave Flash Player crash ever time I try to do anything. Tried to install newest version, actually crashed during install! Tried to reset FF, more crashing. It has become problematic to any work at all. I noticed many people with this problem have talked about switching to chrome, may have to do the same.

I've said many times that Flash is f'n ridiculous to work with on Firefox and a majority of the issues on this support site are because of that piece of crap Flash. Mozilla is in the process of building an alternative for Flash called Shumway. It's not available for daily use but is available in the very early Nightly build (not enabled by default)

It looks like Flash is already at the latest version, no?
    Try disabling Hardware Acceleration. <br>
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

My Adobe Shockwave Flash Player crashes every time I play a Zynga game on it.  I uninstall it & reinstall it each time & I am tired of it.  I have talked to other players who have the same problem.  Do we need to find another flash that works well with games?  Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Hi chris.

But it did help it load faster but as I said. Everything keeps freezing and crashing. Please make a newest version that wont be doing this as fast as possible. Thanks

  • Why does the shockwave player keep crashing when I play farmville 2 on both the facebook and zynga websites?

I play farmville 2 on both the zynga and facebook websites. My shockwave player keeps crashing and is a very slow to load the game. This happens on all of the browsers I have used. Google chrome works better than some, firefox, icedragon and IE all are very slow to load the game and this take a lot of enjoyment out of the actual game play.  Please help figure this out. I even keep clearing the cache and history, this does not help out much either.

for the past few weeks, I get this error Shockwave Flash has crashed reload while attemping to view the online shows on the comcast website.  So I cant watch the videos at all, I can watch other videos on youtube and on the webpages.

for the past few weeks, I get this error Shockwave Flash has crashed reload while attemping to view the online shows on the comcast website.  So I cant watch the videos at all, I can watch other videos on youtube and on the webpages.  I had the same problem. I had to disable the protected mode in Adobe Flash Player, which is set by default.  Here is what I did to solve it. 1. Update your Adobe Flash Player to the current version. You have to do this on a regular basis because Adobe releases new versions all the time, mostly due to security flaws that they find. Make sure that you uncheck the box that says "Optional Offers," otherwise you'll get something extra in the download that you really don't need. 2. Close your web browser. 3. Lauch Windows Explorer, not Windows Interent Explorer. The quickest way to do so is a) Click Startb) In the seach box, type the following "explorer.exe"c) Under "Programs," you will see "Windows Explorer."d) Right-Click on "Windows Explorer" and select "Run As Administrator." 4. Once you have "Windows Explorer" open, browse to the following location: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash 5. In this folder, you will see a file called "mms.cfg" 6. Right-click on "mms.cfg" and then select "properties." 7. In the "properties" tab, select the "security" tab. 8. In the "security" tab, you will see group or users. Select "users" and then click the "edit" button to change the file premissions for file "mms.cfg." Be sure to check all of the allow boxes, otherwise you won't be able to change the protection mode settings in the next step. Click OK to close the properties box. 9. Right-click on "mms.cfg" and then select "Open." Windows will tell you that it cannot open the file and will then give you two options. Select the option that says "Select a program from the list of installed programs." 10. In the programs list, select "Notepad" to open the file in Notepad. 10. In Notepad, add the following line:        ProtectedMode=0 11. Then select "file," and then "save" to save to modified "mms.cfg" file.       12. Relaunch your web browser and try to viewing the video again. If you are still having problems viewing videos, you may also need to disable hardware accelleration in Adobe Flash Player. You can do this by right-clicking on any video and then uncheck the box that says "enable hardware accelleration." The reason you may have to do this is because some graphics cards have accellartion already built into them. Source:  https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/993019
