Shockwave crashes in ALL browsers. Windows 7 starter, ie, firefox, chrome. Done it all:What's next?
The problem first appeared in Firefox. I updated as directed, attempted to run the test, but kept getting crashes. Switched to ie, same thing. Switched to chrome, which seemed to work for awhile, then it too went down in flames. Per Chrome's support page, I alternately disabled the native chrome shockwave, which seemed to work for about three hours, then disabled the windows shockwave installation, the same. I have scanned for malware, viruses, spyware, old software installs that might conflict with chrome, Upgraded the users system ram (in case it was a resource issue), removed and reinstalled all browsers.
Short of blowing away everything and restoring to factory fresh, nothing works. There are entries on this issue ALL OVER THE WEB: Has it occurred to anyone at Adobe that so pervasive a problem might be on THEIR end? Since there seems to be no real alternative to your products for the average user. and none of the fixes work, perhaps the releases are corrupt?
(p.s.- I have a degree in computer sciences, Microsoft certifications up the wazoo, and have more than 20 years working experience in IT management : I am NOT an average user, and I would like some help.)
i run win 7.0... i window security essentials complete scan. took 4 hours but found this malware installed by 3rd party. havent gotten shockwave error since reboot. will keep posted. this didnt show up in any other virus scan...

Yes, yes, I know, it's not good to keep applications open when they aren't designed to be. I'm sure Firefox has some memory leaks and this is doing more harm than good, but...
My computer isn't the greatest out there, and to increase the usability of my Firefox browser it would be nice to keep the firefox.exe process open, even after closing all windows. I know Firefox doesn't totally close if there is at least one Firefox-related window open, but having to open X popup window seems a bit extreme to get this effect.
Additionally, to allow another window to be opened, it would be cool for the "OH NO FIREFOX IS STILL OPEN" prompts to be replaced with just attempting to open a new window, if this feature is enabled.
So, if it exists already, is there a config variable for it, and if it doesn't exist, is it possible to perform somehow? I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty if it comes to it; I'd really like to get this happening.
I'm running Windows 7 Home, if it matters. (I'd rather be running another OS, but this is neither the time nor place...)LINK: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/minimizetotray-revived/

When I click on the Services option under Microsoft Management and try to start the FIREFOX SERVICE I get this hiccup:
'''Windows could not start the Firefox Service on Local Computer;
Error 3: the system cannot find the path selected'''
...Any suggestions on how I can hep Windows find that path?
--I have a heck of a time getting windows to signal my Firefox browser--takes several clicks and over 6 or 7 minutes to emerge!
Thank you for your attention.
marlem388Hi again, cor-el--
Many thanks for your help and diligence.
...I went through your advised operations, made sure I didn't delete my Personal Profile, and so on.
--Did not have a hard time uninstalling Firefox, and after I got rid of the downloaded file,
I continued re-installing Ff.
So all you suggested was fine and effective,
'''BUT''' I still get this weird message under Services in Administrative Tools:
'''Windows could not start the Firefox Service on Local Computer; Error 3: the system cannot find the path selected'''
--All the same, despite Local Computer's stubbornness , Firefox does emerge sooner than before, and I have you to thank for it.
Some day I will learn why Error 3 keeps being blind to Ff's path!

Shockwave crashes intel mac browsers
My Intel-based iMac (purchased in January) crashes on MySpace
BAND (not regular user) pages. The page gets hung up loading what I
think is the shockwave player (the media player that plays the band
songs) then the browser MUST be quit - can't even navigate away
from the page that's trying to load. Happens in Safari and Firefox.
Have done the Rosetta checkbox, have downloaded and installed
(repeatedly) the latest Flash (9.0.60.120) and Shockwave players,
have made sure that Quicktime is not playing flash.
Here are examples of problemmatic pages - that square-shaped
4-song player on the right (usually on the right) gets hung up and
crashes broswer:

Just started about a week ago. Have latest versions of Firefox and Flash plug-in. Checked all the suggestions on the support site and nothing helped. Can watch videos using Flash on IE, so appears to be a Firefox/plug-in issue.
You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
*check for updates for your graphics drive drivers<br>https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

I have the last version of the Firefox, and about two days ago and i can't see any type of video because the firefox crash quickly
The culprit is surely Ask toolbar you installed via another application. First, disable and uninstall the "Ask toolbar" in the plugins section of Firefox. Secondly, close Firefox and open the Add/Delete Programs in Windows. There, uninstall the "Ask toolbar" and the "Ask updater".

Firefox crashes when closing open windows
Hi
Since updating to the new Firefox 18.0.1 every time I try to close a few open windows Firefox crashes. I would be reading my mail and after having about 10 open windows I go and check on the X to close the windows. I can close about five to seven of them with no problem but when I have about three of them left Firefox crashes. It is very annoying. I used the Firefox Safe Mode feature and this problem does not happen while in Safe Mode. I don't know what the next step is to fix this problem. Could you please help. Thank youHello,
Thanks for responding back. Norton is to release an update shortly to fix this crashing issue.
Have a nice day! -

That's related since the process is attempting to load your Safari bookmarks from iCloud, and is crashing for some reason.
Try this:
Select the entire line that follows (triple-click to select it), then control-click, and from the contextual menu that appears, select Services > Reveal in Finder:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCloudHelper
Drag that entire folder to the Desktop.
Quit Safari.
Attempt to open iCloud Preferences again. If it opens de-select Safari.
Launch Safari again and determine if the problem is fixed. -
Flash Crashes across all browsers and recent fatal errors
This problem has basicly been going on for years and my operating system has been resintalled a couple of times before but basicly the problem is that adobe flash player (and Microsoft Silverlight) would crash a browser (IE, Chrome, and Firefox) often. I have tried the fixes ive read about but they didnt seem to work so I just decided to put up with it until I began getting fatal errors. I had my hardware checked out and there are no problems with and all my drivers are up to date.
Flash: 11.5.502.135
Windows 7 (64-bit)
HD 5570 and HD 6870 (upgraded from one to the other but problem still occurs)
Like I said I usually try to put up with flash (and silverlight) crashing my browser but now they crash the browse so badly it forces a bugcheck (or blue screen of death). I have tried to reload my operating system, then updated my drivers, and then in clean boot mode I still get pretty nasty crashes. I think the problem is within one of my drivers but I cant pinpoint which driver is the culprit.

Subject: Flash Player Flash Plug-in Crashes across all browsers despite
re-install
I support a bunch of Mac users and one of them (10.5.7 MBP) ran into this same
problem last week with both Safari and Firefox crashing with the flash player
plugin. If I removed the Flash Player plugin and the .xpt file there was no
crashing but no flash either. I used a combination of different suggestions and
here's what finally worked (so far anyway):
Show package contents for Firefox/Contents/MacOS/components and Get Info
changing perms for read/write for everyone.
Re-installed shockwave plugin using the customized full install (this made no
sense to me since I had made no change to shockwave but as I was testing the
browsers I was prompted to install it, so I did)
Repaired permissions
The version of the Flash Player plugin that ended up installed on this Mac is
10.0.12.36. I started off installing the newer and recommended 10.0.22.87
version but it didn't fix anything. I inadvertently went backwards as I moved
plugins in and out of the Library. I didn't want to change anything once it was
working so I left it at the older version. I hope this helps someone else.
