Shockwave Distribution: Exe-Installer deprecated

I can't download the recent version of Adobe Shockwave Player from the distribution site ( http://www.adobe.com/products/shockwaveplayer/shwv_distribution3.html ) when I try the exe installer (slim exe or full exe). Both seem to install version 11.6.0.626. Current version is 11.6.8.638.

The exe file contains these strings:
<assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0">
<assemblyIdentity version="11.6.0.626" processorArchitecture="x86" name="Adobe.Shockwave Player" type="win32"></assemblyIdentity>
<description>Adobe Shockwave Player</description>
After installation, I see also version 11.6.8.638.

  • Sidecar AIR Runtime install with  Native .exe installer using ADT

    I have packaged my AIR app into a Native .exe installer using ADT. If the user does not have air installed and they are connected to the internet, the AIR runtime is automatically installed.
    Is it possible to package the AIR runtime into the exe so that if the user is not online the AIR runtime is installed?
    I have experimented with the sidecar install and .air file but ideally I want to only have the one file(.exe). I already have a distribution licence from Adobe.

    This isn't available at this time, but I think it's a great idea.  You might want to add a feature request for this over at ideas.adobe.com and bugbase.adobe.com, or review and vote for these current feature requests if they provide for what you're looking for:

  • Full EXE Installer 12.1.0.150 Not Downloading

    When I try to download the Full EXE Installer for the latest version (12.1.0.150) it keeps downloading the previous version.  The Slim and the MSI have the latest.  When will Adobe update the EXE?

    Works for me. Did you try this link?

  • Adobe Shockwave for Director Installer Availability

    Why must we visit this forum and browse through posts and answers in order to obtain the hyperlink to download the Shockwave "Full Installer"??
    It would be so much easier if Adobe would get its act together and make downloads for Shockwave Player and for Shockwave for Director easily accessible from the home page instead of trying to enable Google to install Chrome on everyone's computer system and make it the default browser. During the update of the previous version, Google installed Chrome on my computer system and made it the default browser without ever asking permission to do that. When I uninstalled it, that did not restore my system to the way it was, and I had to spend time and effort to track-down the problems remaining in the Windows Directory. But that was then and this is now.
    When I attempted to update Adobe Shockwave via the Mozilla Firefox "Plug-in Update Check" page, the installation failed because the dialog in which the user is asked permission to install Google Chrome and make it the default browser was displayed on the desktop, behind the windows that were opened for Firefox. Of course, there was no way to know why the whole process stalled, since Adobe's software installation personnel still do not have a clue to this day as to how to design and implement a procedure to effectively install and update their software on a Windows computer system.
    After I abandoned the update and exited Firefox, I discovered the dialog, which was irrelevant at that point. I responded "no" and it vanished. So I attempted to update Shockwave again. However, its plug-in was already uninstalled from Firefox 26. Why would that be a problem, you ask?
    It's a problem because the Shockwave plugin is required to download and install the update for the Shockwave plugin! The San Francisco Bay Area is replete with competent software people. Apparently either Adobe just doesn't hire them, or they don't want to work for Adobe.
    There is an option to install the requisite plug-in (which is not named in the notice that a plug-in is required). Using it displays a Firefox dialog to install Adobe Shockwave Player. The installation was reported as successful, but the update still did not proceed. Then again, if the installation was done correctly, installing the "required plug-in" would in and of itself update Adobe Shockwave Player, would it not?
    When I checked the Firefox plug-ins, Shockwave was still not present, even after exiting and re-starting Firefox. Why that was so I could not discern.
    So the only solution, if it is a solution, is to run the "full" Adobe Shockwave for Director installer. Looking for access to it requires far too much time and effort. Why should anyone bother??

    ''3DogNight wrote:''
    Should I try uninstalling Shockwave for Director first?
    Not necessarily, but that could eliminate some potential problems, so I do recommend it.
    # Go to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/#sp
    # Save the Shockwave Player Uninstaller somewhere handy, like the desktop.
    # Save the Full Installer for Netscape¹. If you plan on using Shockwave for Director in Internet Explorer as well, also save the Full Installer for Internet Explorer/AOL¹.
    # Exit all browsers.
    # Run the uninstaller.
    # Once the uninstallation has completed, run the full installer for Netscape.
    # Once the installation for Netscape has completed, run the full installer for Internet Explorer.
    ¹ Although the links on the page currently say "Shockwave Player 11", they point to the latest version, which at the moment is 12.0.7.148.

  • Adobe master collection cs4 setup.exe installation problem

    This is frustrating.
    I have 30 day trial DVD from adobe, it is Master Collection CS4 and can't install it. Double clicking on setup.exe goes nowhere, just no response at all. You can see and hear DVD working, but nothing is happening, no response. I've been searching on forums, everywhere, no solution. Tried msicuu2.exe, also tried WinCS4Cleanupscript. Even registry cleaning tools. No progress.
    It is HP Pavilion dv7, core 2 duo, 2.2GHz, 4GB ram, 320 GB Hard Drive, Windows Vista SP1 (fresh instalation).
    Also tried with all current (july 2009) microsoft updates.
    Obviously because it is a trial version I can't contact adobe support.
    It is strange, I was able to install it on my old Windows XP laptop, but I can't do it on vista.
    Strange is also that I can install separatelly 30day trials of Photoshop CS4 and After Effects CS4 from adobe.com.
    As I said, this is fresh instalation, so there was no previous adobe product installed at all.
    Please help.

    yes I expected as much.  But I wasn't getting any good answers on vista either.  I have several users who will be moving to 7 in the fall and need to see if it will work.  thanks for the response.
    Since my last post, I may have found the answer (no thanks to Adobe).  Most of us having this issue are in using fresh installs of our OS.  Since the setup is very heavy Java, I downloaded the Java Runtime from Sun and POOF I can install now.  The error above went away and the install is running.  InDesign failed, but everything else has installed so far.  One would think that if the installer is so dependant on a Java VM being in place they would check for it and either prompt the end user or if an error occurs, post that in the error message.  But I have noticed that most of my Adobe problems in the past do not have good QA or error message support.  Usually I get a generic error message and am left to hunting for some kind of answer.
    So to those who are having this issue.  Load or re-load your Java VM and try again.  That helped me.

  • I need to silently install the latest Mozilla firefox on Win7 machines, I do not see any .msi available and the /S or -S commands on the setup.exe installer does not work. Does someone know what can I do?

    I need the silent install of firefox for image deployment.

    For windows 7, you can use the -ms switch. For example, I have a batch file that works great. It contains the following:
    @ECHO.
    @Echo Installing Firefox
    @start /wait "Firefox Setup 3.6.10.exe" -ms
    However this does not seem to work well in windows XP. To get it to work in windows XP, I had to remove the spaces from the firefox installer and run the following command:
    @start /wait FirefoxSetup3.6.10.exe -ms
    If anyone has an easier way to get silent install working under XP (without renaming the firefox installer) please let me know!

    It is with 16kB rather long, so I just have posted the last couple of MSI (C) messages.
    Let me know if there is a way to upload the complete file if you are interested.
    Of course, A-IX does not start, same problem as before despite of the Installer
    coming back as Installation finished successfully.
    So far no word from the Adobe Tier 2 team.

  • Launch program before distribution kit installation

    When creating a distribution kit, there is an option to launch an application
    after installation.
    I would like to launch an application BEFORE installation.
    Is this possible with the installer?
    Specifically, I would like to run a program to save the configuration
    files from the previous installation (which may have been modified
    by the user) before allowing the installation of the new software to proceed.
    Thanks in advance,
         Marty O.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Marty,
    I'm not sure you applied exactly what Mert described.
    You shouldn't have put a file into the distribution kit.
    That file, I guess, is what you referred as "old config file" in your message. That file, being a part of the installation, is subject to removal by the uninstaller. This is expected behavior.
    Instead, you should be creating the file in your executable (using a function like fopen, OpenFile, etc.) upon its first run on that computer.
    Of course you need to check first if the file exists.
    Hope this helps,

  • Is there anyway to open a .exe installation file on OS X?

    I have a MacBook Air which is running 10.7.5 and I downloaded an installation file which is meant for windows. Is there a way that I can open this file on OS X?

    Allan Eckert wrote:
    No. A .exe file can only be open under Windows.
    If you have to open it then you are going to have to install Windows first. That will require your creating a partition with BootCamp and install windows or installing virtualization software under which you can install Windows. Niether of those are simple tasks to perform.
    Allan
    This is actually not correct at all.  Anything Wine based can run a .exe on OS X.  How easy it is to get to work right depends on the exe file in question though... A couple of OS X apps that use Wine for doing this is Crossover and Wineskin
