Shockwave Flash constantly freezes...Why?

I cannot seem to browse the internet these days without my pages just freezing.  Then I get this error message.
I am really irritated that I cannot find a fix for this problem.  Does not matter what browser I use, it happens on all of them.  Would someone please provide a clear, and concise explanation on how to fix this problem?
Thank you

  • Shockwave Flash and freeze errors in Forms Central

Everyone on my team is having issues opening Forms Central - Shockwave Flash and freeze errors. Is this an error with everyone?  Its affecting 26 people.

    Nicole,
I am sorry to hear you are having problems logging in. I just tested this function on Safari and Chrome and had no problem. Can you tell me about the systems that are experincing the problem. What OS? What Broswer? What version of Flash is installed? Are the systems individually managed or managed by a central IT group?

  • Why is shockwave flash and akamaihd crashing constantly?

I'm sick of this, and seriously considering ditching Firefox.
Nearly every time Facebook updates or loads, Shockwave Flash crashes and I get a dialogue window saying the script "https://fbstatic-a.akamaihd.net/rsrc.php/v2/yd/r/M9WQeVKSbLt.js:13" has crashed.
My Flash plugin is up to date. I've disabled hardware acceleration. I've reset Firefox. What is there left to do? I've been sending crash reports but they seem to be a waste of time.

Scripts hangs with Flash can be caused by the protected mode feature of the Flash plugin. That feature has security benefits, but seems to have compatibility issues on some systems. You can disable it by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that:
    * Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
    * Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
    * Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078 (alternate version of Carm's batch file with a few changes by me: [https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=f7d304d92388737d&id=F7D304D92388737D!336&ithint=file,.bat&authkey=!AP2FXW2Y_3BXZyo])
Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.

  • Shockwave flash -- why? why? why?

why is it that there are YEARS' worth of posts all over the WorldWideWeb about conflict between shockwave flash and browsers such as Chrome and Firefox (I've tried both, trying to evade the conflict), yet the conflict is NEVER fixed? why is it that the world needs flash to access all web content, but no one has bothered to make it work right? Can't Adobe technicians get together with Chrome technicians and Firefox technicians and get organized so WWW users don't have to suffer absolutely maddening freezes and crashes for YEARS ON END?  it's really the height of irresponsibility that this problem is let fester.  (Before anyone tells me to disable and test all my add-ons, be advised I've fecking removed any recent ones. Before anyone tells me to use the generic skin of Firefox or however precisely the case is stated, I've done that.  And system updates -- done, and then undone when my entire computer froze and I had no way out but a system restore.)
    ~  PISSED RIGHT OFF

I have to agree with Pat here. As a web designer I have no less than four browsers installed on any of eight systems and as many as seven on two of them, ALL with Flash Player installed in the plugins and ALL working WITH NO CONFLICTS. I've never heard of any such "conflicts" with any mainstream browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, SeaMonkey).
I have, on occasion, seen the "unresponsive plugin" error, but... and I want to make this perfectly clear, it WAS NOT  a "conflict" with the browser that caused it. It WAS... a combination of "Flash based ads" (which Adobe DIDN'T create or place in the websites where the "crash" occurred)... and an outdated plugin, which occurs because I manually update all of my software, regardless of developer.

  • Firefox constantly freezing due to issues with Flash. Please help.

I was running the firefox 20 beta (and have been for a while) when in the last few days, suddenly any time I tried to open any site that used even the slightest amount of flash, the browser would freeze for minutes on end before finally releasing a "plugin error" type message about Shockwave Flash. If i clicked 'continue' it would stay frozen. If i clicked 'stop script' then sometimes it would fix it, but most of the time it would keep freezing and showing that same message over and over until I stopped the process in task manager.
First I tried to update flash and shockwave- both are up to date. So i decided to delete the files themselves and the programs via add/remove and reinstalled them. Still did not fix the problem.
Next I tried to do a reset firefox to default state. This didn't work. I tried doing it again with the flash files deleted/uninstalled AND I rebooted the computer and the problem still persisted.
Finally, I tried to downgrade to a more stable version of firefox, so I downloaded 19 and it still didnt work. Tried the uninstall/re install for flash one more time and nothing.
At this point, I cannot access about half of the pages I usually go to on the web and I need help here, please anything will do.
One thing that I noticed that might be helpful is that no matter how many times i uninstalled or reinstalled flash, every time it would try to run, task manager would show two instances of it, each using different amount of memory.
again, please please help. If there is any solution short of a total wipe it would be greatly appreciated

hello, maybe it's an issue with the protected mode in the flash plugin - you could try if [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_solution-2-downgrade-to-flash-10-3 downgrading to flash 10.3] (which is still supported) or [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071#TemporaryWorkaround disabling protected mode] makes a difference.

  • Why does Shockwave Flash "stop responding" only around 1-3 pm? Works fine mornings and evenings.

For the past couple of weeks I've been having this issue. Everything works fine all morning, and then mid-afternoon, Mozilla goes haywire and I get an "unresponsive plugin" error message, telling me Shockwave Flash "has stopped responding". It derails my entire computer system, everything ends up "not responding" (every single window, tab, program, even pictures and Word documents) then after I spend half an hour moving at the speed of molasses to save, close, and restart things, then it continues working just fine for the rest of the evening. It ONLY happens around 1 to 3 pm.
It's aggravating to say the least. And I can't figure out why. Everything I have from Adobe is up to date, all of my plugins in general are up to date, and I've been using the same exact websites for work for years but this has only cropped up recently.
Any ideas? Should I just take a long lunch and avoid my computer from 1 to 3?
PS: I'm the only person home, and my wifi requires a password, so it's my internet service fighting a crowd or anything.

I'm not paying for Norton for the toolbar, I like the Internet Security options in general.
It has this "Vault" that stores all your website passwords, and "Identity Cards" to store financial information, addresses, etc. I feel safer having this information stored in Norton (which I gave the most unique and secure password I could think of) rather than storing these details on individual websites.
Heaven forbid anyone ever steal my computer, they won't be able to access ANYTHING unless they can hack into Norton, which is the only password I hand-type. Before I got it, I used to have Firefox save it for me, but there was no security in that. Anybody could open up, say, Amazon.com, and log right into my account, and instantly have access to my credit card and change the mailing address. Using Norton Internet Security, they can't get into any of my accounts (shopping, banking, email, etc), and even if they do, they won't find any sensitive info available.
As for Firefox 22, I just clicked "update" the other day (before then canceling) because it specifically said the plugin wasn't available, and I need it for the options I just mentioned. The next time it prompts me, I'll look again and see if it's ready yet.

  • In Firefox 4, how do I change the order of plugins on the Add-ons Plugins manager page (I turn Shockwave Flash on only to see videos - having it off prevents screen freezing - and so I want it stay at the top of the list)?

In Firefox 4, how do I change the order of plugins on the Add-ons Plugins manager page? I turn Shockwave Flash on only when I want to watch a video and then turn it off to prevent screen freezing, and so I want it to PUT it and KEEP it at the top of the list.

Hit Ctrl+0 (That's a zero, by the way). I'm not sure if it will work, but hey, that's the first thing I would try.

  • Flash Player freezes Inet Exp 8--WHY?

Last week, I finished my custom-built PC using Win 7 Pro 32-bit and Internet Explorer 8 with all current Microsoft updates.  I installed the latest and most current version of Flash Player (which reported a successful installation).
Whenever I visit a web site that employs 'flash' elements, IE8 will often lock-up (freeze) and show 'not responding'.  The Win 7 feature called 'Action Center' reports the IE8 problem was caused by Flash Player and recommends uninstalling and installing Flash Player.  I tried that solution twice.  It did not work. IE8 still periodically locks up and Action Center still blames Flash Player.
I prefer using IE8...and Flash Player is an essential 'plug-in' for IE8.  SO, can anybody offer a 'fix' for the problem?
It should be noted that I am also experiencing another Adobe-related bug that may or may not be related.  I also installed Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium CS4 and Adobe Reader ver 9.3.  Periodically when closing Acrobat 9 and even when re-starting or shutting down the PC, an error message briefly flashes reporting a problem caused by LOGTRANSPORT2.EXE.  That exe file is definitely and uniquely associated with Adobe software products.  Again, I don't know if the Flash Player and exe file issues are related.
I thank any and all who offer a solution.

Hi, let's try the easy check first. Using IE, Tools, manage add ons (all add ons) and find the Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control and make sure it is Enabled. Since I'm not sure which version of FP you Installed, what is listed with this add on i.e., "Flash??.ocx? A number and a letter should be.
Then you can go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash Right click and Open and post back all files listed.
    thanks,

  • Why do firefox CONSTANTly, again, CONSTANTLY freeze when I am doing things???? It is irritating and needs to be fixed right now. I am always forced to restart and lose whatever I was doing.

Whenever I am in my online school, the site CONSTANTLY freezes up on me. Fix this now.

Please believe that the problem is with your set-up not Firefox.
I think you are going to have to work your way through this(Safe Mode, Problematic Extensions etc) - there is no magic button -
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting%20extensions%20and%20themes
Make sure your plug-ins(such as Flash, which isn't) are up-to-date.
For the record, this forum is mostly run by volunteer helpers who are users just like you. All of our Firefox versions are working beautifully.

  • Why is adobe shockwave Flash being such a pain?

    http://oi40.tinypic.com/2u5f4hf.jpg
It keeps doing this every time I use FF and it's going to make me stop completely if someone doesn't fix it.
I have been in the middle of doing work and it will do this, and I lose my work.
Google chrome is working better. And the only thing wrong is this Adobe Shockwave.
Edited title to add "Flash" since, based on the linked image, this question is about the Shockwave '''Flash''' plugin. aw

jscher2000 - Thanks for trying. I was surprised to hear you can manipulate Adobe Flash settings via Windows Security. I'm stuck using Vista which might explain why I didn't recognize the path you offered - "Windows Control Manager, System and Security category" as I'd never heard of "Windows Control Manager"
If I go to Control Panel> System> Security Center, there is nothing for Adobe. I'd love to see all of the Adobe crap put on one page instead of strewn over that 8 popup proprietary Settings Manager the Adobe idiots designed.
Coincidentally (or perhaps not?), Adobe released an update of some sort shortly after my last slam at them was posted here. That didn't fix their motorbike demo,

  • Why does Firefox list of plugins show "Shockwave Flash" when what is installed is really Adobe Flash Player; they are different .

Adobe; various websites; and now seemingly Firefox seem to continually confuse and obscure things regarding the two different Adobe Players (Adobe Flash Player AFP and Adobe Shockwave Player ASP). According to this security alert web article ASP is far less secure than AFP which itself isn't great. The article http://krebsonsecurity.com/2014/05/why-you-should-ditch-adobe-shockwave/ indicates:
Mozilla Firefox users should note that the presence of the “Shockwave Flash” plugin listed in the Firefox Add-ons section denotes an installation of Adobe Flash Player plugin — not Adobe Shockwave Player.
    ==========
My Firefox is working, but this confusion of calling things by their proper (or at least a unique name) seems crazy to me. If this is accurate can someone get Firefox to name things correctly, AND if article is accurate let this be a warning to others that they NOT use ASP, but as needed rely on AFP. There are Adobe test pages for each so you want to make sure that AFP succeeds and the other ASP fails to play.

hello, "Adobe Flash Player" and "Shockwave Flash" are the same thing - the latter is the technical term of the plugin that adobe kept for compatibility reasons after it acquired the technology from another company (macromedia)...

  • FREEZING WITH SHOCKWAVE FLASH 11.9.900.117

On 10/12/13, downloaded this update from Adobe.
Almost immediately, webpages on various sites began freezing and I receive
    the message depicted below.
Using Mozilla Firefox, Windows 7 Home.
This issue occurs on numerous websites (in the midst of Google search, fb, etc.).
It even occurred while on adobe.com site when attempting to search for others
    experiencing this same problem.
Since this problem did NOT begin occurring until after downloading this update,
I am relatively certain that this is NOT a Firefox problem but a bug in this version
    of Shockwave Flash.
Any input with regard to an immediate remedy is appreciated.

    Download the Flash Player Uninstaller
Then download the Flash Player Plug-in (for all other browsers)
Lastly, download the Shockwave FULL Installer
Save all of these file to your Downloads folder by rhgith clikcing ans choosing "Save Link as"- DO NOT RUN anything yet.
Open and run the Flash Player Uninstaller.
Open your Control Panel and uninstall Shockwave (if it's there to uninstall)
    Reboot your system.
BEFORE you open anything else, locate and run the Shockwave FULL Installer.
Then run the Flash Player installer to replace the plugin in Firefox.
That should remedy the "unresponsive pluign" messages.

  • Why is my computer constantly freezing up

My Mac is constantly freezing up. I have plenty of hard drive space and my memory is all good. Once it is turned on, it will occasionally have a flashing file with a question mark, but not as many times now since I have cleared out most of the files and did a couple disc verifies and repairs. It will come on now, sometimes for 20 minutes, if im lucky, and freeze up. Most of the time it is within 10 minutes of restarting it.
It also does something wierd. When its on, you can hear the computer processing information ( thats my guess of what its doing), but if I turn off the mac, and unplug it from the wall, I can still hear it working??
I just want it fixed, I am not sure of whats going on with it, but it is getting annoying. If anyone does know and how much it will cost to fix, please let me know.
To be honest, I would almost get a pc, but all my adobe creative suite is the mac edition, and I cant afford to buy it again.v So ANY info, would be awesome info.

flashing file with a question mark
Appears when the system can't find a drive to boot from. Have you tried repairing the drive in Disk Utility? Drive may be getting flaky and could fail. Make a backup ASAP.
Look for any relevant messages in Console in Utilities.

  • What can I do if  shockwave flash player is constantly crashing on google chrome browser ?

What can I do if shockwave flash player is constantly crashing on google chrome ?

I think Google Chrome is more easy to troubleshoot. Try this:
    1. Open Chrome.
    2. Click the far-right Icon (Customize and control Google Chrome).
    3. Select about Google Chrome. It check if Google Chrome is up to date and if not it'll get update.
    4. You must wait until a GREEN check mark appear saying your Google Chrome is up to date.
    5. Remember, you don't need to get Adobe Flash Player separately because Google Chrome has it own integrated Player.
    6. Accept Google Chrome constant upgrade to their Chrome browser.
    Wishing you Good Luck!

While surfing the internet I get frequent stopages with the notation "Shockwave Flash may be busy - - - - -" Why doesn't it say Adobe Flash and how do I get it fixed?

The  site will NOT let me post in the  "flash player" forum. When I open the  list of forums to post in, I see  flash player listed, but it is grey  in color and you can not click on  it. Under the scroll box that gives  you the choices of forums to post  your question in you see this:
"Why are some locations grayed out?                                                This means that you can view content in these locations, but may not   have access to post to them. Or, the content type you've chosen is not   available there (i.e. trying to put a blog post in a project where  blogs  are turned off). Also to move content to "Your documents",  "Private  discussions" or "Your Videos" you have to be the author."
So   tell me HOW the hell am I supposed to post in that forum, when it is   not letting me?  I have had   this problem since back in April, I have tried posting to get help and   all I get is complaints I posted in the wrong place, and it is the SITE   that is not letting me post in the right place.
