Shockwave flash disabled but I'm unable to update?? WHY?

plugins disabled- java and flash. Unable to update. Have updated from their websites with everything else closed- still no update. Have followed the questions here, nothing works-being told 'The plugin check page is having some bugs today.' does not resolve a recurring problem that has continued for weeks. Would you prefer we all changed to a different browser that a) did not disable plugins arbitrarily and b) enabled updates when these were suggested?
This should be a simple situation but for some reason mozilla is making it REALLY difficult- not to mention the fact that I had to register just to pose the question. PUH!

nope, still not working. Have removed all copies of Flash via control panel as the other options did not function. Downloaded latest version and will not install.
Java still disabled also. This is ridiculous! What is the point of a browser in which there is very little that one can actually browse without plugin problems???

Just try what LarryHN recommended. Move the iPhoto application from the Applications folder to the Trash, then go the main page of the App Store, sign into the store menu with your AppleID, enter iPhoto into the Search Field. When iPhoto is found in the store, look, if you can buy it for free. Probably there will be a "Get" button beside the application. Then you can install it for free.
Before you run the newly installed iPhoto, make sure you have a backup. You should really not risk to run a new iPhoto version on your iPhoto library, before you copied the iPhoto Library to a different drive.
iPhoto needs to convert the library to a different format, and that can go wrong in rare cases, but it happens. You simply need to have a copy of your library before you risk the library upgrade.

I have the exact same issue. Started happening about the time iOS 5 was available. Thought it was just server overload with everyone trying to download it at once but it has been well over a week now. iTunes Support responded with a form letter response with links to solutions that I said I tried in my original email. this "serial number" obtained from Amazon or similar firms is not a serial number, only a code with which you can request a serial number from Adobe. Here you have to go through "Adobe Store", and look for the button "Serial Number Request". Fill in the form and, after a while you will get a "real" serial number.

Shockwave Flash enabled but Publisher 'Not Available'???

I have Shockwave Flash Object enabled on my add-ons but it states that the Publisher is unavailable, which i think is stopping Flash from working. How can i get it linked to a 'publisher?

Once I put the Firefox Icon in Apps, it shows up as a white circle/slash (as in "no" or "stop") NOT the standard Firefox Icon. I checked plug-ins."Shockwave Flash" shows up Vulnerable. When I update, I get download warnings. (more below)

Downloaded Firefox and put it into my Apps folder as instructed. Its Icon in my Apps folder is not the Fox/Globe but a white icon of papers with a white circle&diagonal slash (like a white "stop" or do-not-enter sign). When I pulled that to my dock, it transferred there as the Fox/Globe; but I'm concerned about opening Firefox because that Icon in my Apps isn't right. I assumed the circle/slash icon telling me something's wrong with the App. So I checked the PlugIns.
The PlugIn tells me "Shockwave Flash" is "Vulnerable, Update Now." But there are warnings about that download. When I check that, showing I'm a Mac, it gives me warnings for Windows!- but no warnings for Macs. What's going on?!
Why am I not getting the standard Firefox Icon in my Apps folder?
I don't want to corrupt my HD by opening Firefox if that Icon is telling me somethings wrong... (which seems the point of its circle/slash).
This is all so unclear!

We'll need more information before anyone can be of much help. What model iPhone is it, what versions of iOS are running on the iPad 2 now, what exactly are you trying to update, and what version of iTunes are you running? And what exactly is going wrong (include error messages if any).
Once we have that information, someone here can probably offer advice. Note that you cannot sync content or upgrade iOS wirelessly until you get your iPhone and iPad up to iOS 5 and that requires that you connect those devices to your computer via the Dock-USB cable.

HI there yesterday i noticed something weird,i disabled my nokia flash before taking photos but i noticed sometimes the flash worked eventhough i disabled it!
Could this be a bug?

I was told that there is a requirement that a photo cannot be taken secretly using a phone, that means there has to be some form of indication that a photo is taken.
In your case even though flash is disabled, it only means the flash is not on when the shutter is closing but a flash is still activated either before or after the capture just to indicate that a photo is taken.

Screen flash disabled but happens anyway

My Mac has started flashing the screen instead of beeping. It's exactly the same effect as you'd get if the Accessibility pref pane's "flash the screen" option was enabled, except that it's not enabled. The checkbox in System Preferences is not checked.
I also verified that the preferences property list file affecting this setting shows it as being off. In ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.universalaccess.plist I see:

In case it makes any difference, the system sound is otherwise normal and not muted. I'm listening to music from iTunes, but getting screen flashes instead of beeps.
This happened a couple of weeks ago, and rebooting the Mac got things back to normal. Why does it keep happening? Is there something I can do to stop it from repeating again? The screen flash is going to give me a seizure.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work.

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the grey Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal.

My Ipad says it is disabled but I haven't touched it. why?

Restore, if iTunes will let you. Everything except the password will be restored. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. Be forewarned that it takes a long time. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. If you have IOS-7, read this.
