Shockwave Flash - Outdated Version

When I check my plugins through:
https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
I get this message:
Potentially vulnerable plugins:
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32 Outdated Version
When I click on "Update" it sends me to:
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Then, I click on "Download now" and it wants to install "Adobe DLM" (Download Manager) - but I get an error:
Getplus+(r): error operating system error!

Thank you very much for that link!
The steps I took to resolve this problem:
1. Uninstalling every Adobe/Macromedia Player I had installed + using uninstall_flash_player.exe from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
2. Removing every folder and registry key that is related to Adobe/Macromedia
3. Doing a registry cleanup with CCleaner and Eusing Free Registry Cleaner
4. Then I noticed that I still had "Shockwave Flash" in my Firefox Plugins list (which is weird because of all the cleaning I've done) so I checked about:plugins in Firefox and got to this folder:
"C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Mozilla\plugins" and deleted the files: flashplayer.xpt + NPSWF32.dll.
5. Then I closed Firefox and installed the Flash Player using this file:
http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
And voila! the plugin was finally updated!

  • Shockwave Flash above version 11.2.202.235 not compatible with Firefox 14.0.1

I am using Firefox 14.0.1 with Shockwave Flash. If I use any version of Shockwave Flash later than 11.2.202.235 I can not watch videos such as Youtube. All I get is a white screen. If I roll back to SF Ver .235 the videos play fine. I do not have this problem with Google Chrome or Internet Explorer.
Are the 11.3 r300 versions of Shockwave Flash not compatible with Firefox?

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox 14 are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.

  • How to fix Shockwave Flash version 11.6 r602 Causing Firefox to Crash?

I just loaded windows 8 onto my system and placed Firefox version 19. as my web browser and went to Youtube and updated flash to the Version it was looking for which in this case is 11.6 r602 and now everywhere that I go on the web the plug in pops up says it fails and locks up my firefox. I have done what the suggestions have said
    1. Made sure system was up to date 2. Lowered hardware and flash acceleration 3. changed firefox settings 4. have done numerous re-installs of firefox and flash
I had to start using google chrome Please help I like fire fox better

I had no problems with version 20.0.1 on a windows 7 64 bit computer until upgraded shockwave flash to version 11.7.700.169 now the browser crashes have to disable the plugin.
It appears that this is a common problem and needs a solution not a work around, as most people are not computer literate, and what happens if a fix occurs does one have to go back and undo the work around.
Messing about with the operating system or SW is certainly not the answer.

-i have updated all drivers on my computer

PLUG INS check tells me that Shockwave Flash plugin is outdated. But when I check on Adobe website, I have the current version of this plugin (11.3.300.257)
I saw similar posts, but none recent.

    I'm having the same issue...
According to the Shockwave homepage, I have the lastest version installed. It's only when I visit the Firefox plug-in update page, that I'm told it's outdated.

  • When I click Tools and then plugins and check whether my plugins are up to date or not, Firefox gives me a notice saying my Flash Player is an outdated version and must be replaced.

I am trying to do something that requires Flash Player, but even though it shows in my control panel, and it is the latest version, I keep seeing a notice that it is disabled, and it does not appear in the list of plugins, so I don't know how to enable it.
I have been installing the same version over and over again since yesterday, but when I go to check the plugin, a box appears saying it is disabled. When I go in Tools to the list oif plugins, it is not there! Very frustrating. edit

In Add-ons > Plugins, you must enable "Shockwave Flash (version)"; that is Adobe Flash. Click the "Enable" button next to it. The most current version is 10.3.183.10, which was released just a few days ago.
    '''''"Installed Plug-ins''''' <br />

Did you disable all of your plugins? Why?
You need to re-enable your plug-ins in Add-ons > Plugins, then check them to see if they are current and update as necessary.

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash; an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only and a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox. On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
#'''Using Firefox''', go to the following direct download link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

  • How can I get rid of outdated versions of Flash?

Hi. I'm new to the Adobe forums and I need help with Flash
    Player.
On a friend's recommendation, I ran my system through Secunia
Software Inspector. It found that my Adobe Flash Player was
outdated and that I have five outdated versions of Macromedia Flash
on my system in seven different locations.
I have updated my Adobe Flash Player, and that's fine now,
but the installation failed to get rid of the old versions of
Macromedia Flash. The Secunia writeup even hinted this might be a
problem, and suggesting I go to "the vendor" (Adobe) to find out
how to solve the problem. Here's what it said:
"NOTE: When updating Flash Player, older versions are not
always automatically removed from your system. If older versions
were detected that you believe should not be present, then please
contact the vendor regarding how to remove them from your system."
These Macromedia files don't show up in my Control Panel >
Add/Remove facility. They don't even show up if I Search for
Macromedia. I did copy down the names of the files where Secunia
    says they are found:
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash\swflash.ocx (version
    4.0.7.0)
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash\Flash.ocx (version
    7.0.19.0)
    C:\i386\swflash.ocx (version 4.0.7.0)
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\Flasha.ocx (version
    6.0.80.0)
    C:\Program Files\EarthLink Setup\Windows\access\program
    files\EarthLink TotalAccess\Flash.ocx ( version 6.0.79.0)
    C:\i386\Flash.ocx (version 7.0.19.0)
    C:\i386\NPSWF32.dll (version 8.0.24.0)
Can anyone suggest a solution? I am not at all adept at
computers (for all I know, even asking this question gives me
away), so I may need extra-simple language. But apparently, talking
to people who know Adobe is the only way I can find myself a
    solution.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
You may already know this, but have you checked your folder
options under the tools menu in Windows explorer?, not your browser
Internet explorer. Click folder options, click on the view tab,
click on show hidden files and folders and you can deselect hide
protected system files and folders. Hit apply and Ok. Do another
search, type in some of these file names or their extensions,
Ex.(*.ocx), and the files should come up, oh I almost forgot, down
at the bottom of the search page there are options, choose to
search for hidden files or system files, then do your search again.
Secunia says in order to disable the prior versions to delete
certain files, but it doesn't look like one can remove all the
entries and files from ones registry or hard drive, it looks like
they will always remain on your pc, but the previous flash player
versions should be disabled. When you find and remove these files,
I recommend you go back to the folder options in windows explorer
and select hide protected system files and folders. Just so you
don't accidentally delete these important files, unless you know
what your are doing, if you do, your computer will be messed up
royally. Also, it may be a good idea to also select hide hidden
files and folders. It depends on your knowledge of the pc.
Good Luck! I hope this helped you.

  • If I install a newer version of Shockwave Flash, do I need to disable the previous one I was using?

At work we use a calendar system that requires flash. My previous shockwave flash (comes with the desktop pc I purchased) was the Shockwave Flash 10.3.181.22
Following my superior's advise, I install the newer version, Shockwave Flash 11.6.0.626
I can't really tell the difference, but I'm content I have it installed.
I'm using Mozilla, and when I go to Tools --> Add-ons, I see both Shockwave Flash versions ENABLED. Do I have to disable the older version in order for the newer one to function properly, or do I just let them both be enabled as it is now?
    Thanks for helping

Hi, You have Shockwave Player Shockwave Flash 11.6.0.626 which you have listed. Don't disturb that.
Adobe Flash Player is the browser plugin which you want to update. The latest version for that is 10.3.181.26 which was just released on 6/14/11.
    You can update here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Use the EXE Installer for the plugin based browsers
    Hope that helps,
