Shockwave Player Crash

Can anyone help - I've just bought a new Sony Vaio laptop -
latest spec etc etc but every time I try to go into a flash based
video chat room it crashes the browser.
I've tried this in Explorer (browser crashes & reboots),
Firefox (browser crashes & reboots) and Chrome (error message
says Shockwave Player has crashed).
I've turned off firewalls/antivirus in case that was the
problem, I've uninstalled and reinstalled both Flash, ActiveX and
Shockwave but nothing works. Sony can't help as they say it's a
software problem.
Never had this problem with other laptops or desktops which
were all running the latest versions of Flash & Shockwave.
Graphics/Video card is: ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3470
Operating Sys: Vista Business (32 bit).
Please help, I can't think of what else to do and it's very
frustrating indeed.

Found a solution. See the info below from Chrome help. I chose the option to "To disable Adobe Flash completely, click the Disable link under its name." I had earlier tried to just disable one of the two, but that failed. All tests out OK after disable.
Adobe Flash Player : Basic browser settings - Google Chrome Help
http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=108086
Adobe Flash is directly integrated with Google Chrome and enabled by default. Any available updates for Adobe Flash are automatically included in Google Chrome updates.
If you want to use Adobe Flash in other browsers, you’ll need to separately download the Adobe Flash Player for those browsers. Visit http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Disable Adobe Flash
Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar.
Select Options (Preferences on Mac and Linux; Settings on Chrome OS).
Click the Under the Hood tab.
Click Content settings.
In the Content Settings dialog that appears, click the Plug-ins tab.
Click Disable individual plug-ins.
On the Plug-ins page that appears, find the "Flash" listing.
To disable Adobe Flash completely, click the Disable link under its name.
If you've previously installed Adobe Flash separately, you'll see two files listed for the plug-in. To disable a specific version of Adobe Flash, click Details in the upper-right corner of the page. Then click the Disable link for the version of Adobe Flash you want to disable. The version of Adobe Flash that's been built in to Google Chrome shows the file gcswf32.dll in its location field.
Restart the browser.
You can also type about:plugins in the address bar to quickly open the Plug-ins page

  • Why is my shockwave player crashing and how will it be fixed?

I just recently encountered this kind of problem, i never had much of a problem with adobe plug-ins except for this one. I use three internet browsers safari chrome and explorer. And all say the shockwave player crashes, why? When I want to watch a vid online at lets say devour or youtube, I cant watch it coz its non responsive, when I try playing games online as well. and even the ads in the yahoo mail.. How will this be fixed?
HELP would be greatly appreciated..thank you.

AFAIK Youtube only requires Flash Player, not Shockwave Player.

  • Cant see video - Error msg: Adobe Shockwave Player crashed

I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird on win 7 professional. It's been working fine up to 3 days ago. Now I get a message (on video sources) that Adobe Shockwave Player has crashed & am unable to view the video. I've un-installed shockwave & re-installed it to no avail. I also tried to go back to a sys restore point but only got 2 recent dates rather that a list of calender. I tried both dates & still not fixed.

Thunderbird does not play video and has nothing to do with how well Adobe products work. You might check with Adobe on fixing their software.

Adobe shockwave player is always crashing when viewing random things. I have tried to update it. But I have the most current copy. I'm running the Firefox 25 and these are the most recent crash reports.

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.

''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''

'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''

  • Adobe shockwave player crashing or hanging continues

This is still prevalent and I have had to disable the plugin for shockwave player. Similar was happening with adobe flash player but since the Firefox update it isn't happening as much. Is there a solution to solve this or is it a Adobe issue that they need to fix.? When it hangs or crashes it sometimes takes out downloads. I rolled back to the older dowload box because if I closed the browser it took the downloads out. Downloads don't crash as much with the older download box but with Firefox 20 ( with the new download style) the downloads died quickly with an error message the "file could not be read"
Also, is it okay to enable my add ons now, they were accentuating the problem as well.

Hi ezio.lucenti, I'm sorry your post at the end of this long thread hasn't been answered. What operating system do you run?
This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with Flash on Windows. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:
    (1) Make sure all recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them.
    (2) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash
    (A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    (B) In Flash, see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
    (3) Disable protected mode (Windows Vista/7/8)
See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
Please note that from time to time, there are problems with specific sites, e.g., YouTube, related to specific add-ons, e.g., AdBlock Plus. So if you can narrow down the problem, then hopefully someone can provide a more specific solution.

  • Why does my flash and shockwave player crash

Whenever I run anything in google chrome with my flash player or shockwave player it says flash or shockwave has crashed. Why?

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
*check for updates for your graphics drive drivers<br>https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Shockwave Player Crashing

I am soooooo frustrated with the Shockwave Player constantly crashing. It will even make my screen go black because it crashes so many times within a short period of time. It will also freeze my computer so that a lot of the time I am having to reboot. It will crash while playing games or while streaming movies. I am running Windows 7 (64-Bit) and using Firefox. I have tried using Chrome but have too many issues with that Browser and still had no luck with the problem. I have also uninstalled all and then re-installed so many times. Is there another Player I can use or can someone please tell me how to fix this permanently or at least so that it does happen as frequently. Thanks

The stability issues on Firefox are related to some underlying architecture issues specific to the NPAPI plug-in interface that Firefox uses (and which has gone largely unchanged since the '90s).  While you can take some steps to improve stability, they come at the expense of leaving you at significant risk for malware infection.
We're in the early stages of a supporting Mozilla in an effort to build a modern plug-in sandbox (something all other browsers have finished doing over the last couple years), but those are non-trivial efforts and will probably be several months away at the earliest.
In the meantime, your best bet for both a secure an stable experience is to use either Internet Explorer 11 or Google Chrome.

  • Adobe Shockwave Player crashes at literally any use of it in any browser

Ok, so this started happening two days ago, and I've been trying to fix this for a total of six hours to no avail.  I tried to watch a YouTube video, but the page stops loading halfway, and I get a drop down message saying Shockwave has crashed. The tab also takes about five seconds to close out of, which is much slower than usual.  Now it happens literally anytime flash is being used.  On amazon, hell, even trying to make an account to post this question was a nightmare.  I've uninstalled every adobe product and reinstalled it, but even some of the uninstallers have crashed.  I did a system restore, but apparently my oldest restore was two days ago, so I can't do much in that regard.  What the hell is going on?  I think the stress has taken five years off my life, and I really don't want to have to wipe my desktop because of this stupid thing.  If any of you guys have any ideas or have fixed this problem in the past, I would really appreciate it.  Thanks in advance.

First, if you haven't rebooted yet, do that.
To give you any useful advice, I'm going to need to know more about your computer and browser:

So how do I fix it? Why does it only work half of the time? This is what I get when I try this page:

  • Shockwave player crashes in Firefox

There is a game called Inklink on shockwave.com (fun game).
Its pretty much the only shockwave game I play. My problem is that

crashes are random but they often happen just seconds after the
game has loaded. I know other people who play this game using
Firefox and they have no problem. Does anyone have any ideas as to
    why I do?

  • Adobe Flash Player crashes in all browsers

    Hi,
I have had issues with playing videos before. They would constantly freeze (while the sound continued), it was like I was watching stop motion videos all the time. This was a recent problem that started happening within the last month or so. I got really fed up with it so I looked for a fix for it on google. The result of that search was: I was told the videos might be freezing so often because of the fact that I had two adobe flash players in operation on google chrome. I was told I had to try turning one off in order to get the player to work properly. I turned off one then the other and then both to no avail.
    BUT
then the flash player refused to work on ANY video. I figured it might just be Chrome but it happened in Firefox too. (I'm afraid to update internet explorer because I don't want it to not work there). I keep getting the "shockwave player crashed" error message in Chrome and the equivalent in Firefox. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling adobe but that did nothing.
My operating system is Windows Vista 32bit, I used both Firefox and Chrome web browsers both with the latest versions, I have the latest version of the adobe flash player.
At this point in time I can't get any site that runs on Adobe flash player to work and no videos that run on adobe flash player work. My problem is officially a whole lot worse.
    HELP!!!!!!!!

I'm having the exact same problem.
Until today, I haven't had any problems with flash, and then, this morning, I turned on my computer, went to youtube.com and the page almost immediately froze.  A message popped up saying that flash had become unresponsive and asked if I wanted to close it.
It does this on any website that tries to load flash content.  I've tried both Chrome and IE.  I'm running Win7 Home Premium 64-bit on a Compaq Presario CQ5300Y PC.
Everything is completely up to date.
    UPDATE:
Last night I ran a virus scan.  3 viruses were found so I quarantined them.  I turned off my computer for a couple of minutes and when I turned it back on, everything had been fixed.  Not only is flash working again, a problem I was having with Skype is also fixed.  So if anyone else is having this problem you might want to do a virus scan.

  • Shockwave/Flash Player crashes with every browser...Ugh.

I can't find a solution in this forum although a lot of people seem to be asking this question. Flash crashes constantly and it doesn't matter if I use Chrome, Firefox or IE. It's quite unbearable. I don't have multiple Flash players and if an add-on is causing this, I can't draw a link between it crashing and me disabling them. I've scanned for malware and gotten rid of anything found. No viruses that my virus protection reports. The problem just gets worse. It used to be occasionally, then multiple times a day, now its pretty much anytime I want to use Flash...which seems to be constantly. It freezes my computer then an error message comes up and says Shockwave player has crashed. I have updated shockwave and flash, so I have the most recent versions....any solutions?
    Thanks in advance.

If your machine had a recent malware infection, you might want to consider backing up your critical files and starting fresh.  It takes time for antivirus and anti-malware packages to discover and push signatures for new viruses, and it's standard practice to deploy new malware to ensure that an attacker maintains their foothold on a compromised machine.
If it was my personal machine, I would back up any critical data files, wipe the machine and re-install everything from pristine sources.  Not exactly convenient, but you can be reasonably sure that the system is running the software you expect (discounting the possibility of malware that compromises the system BIOS).
That said, there's not a lot of actionable information here.  I'd recommend uninstalling Flash Player and re-installing fresh.  You actually have three different Flash Players -- there's an ActiveX control for Internet Explorer, the NPAPI plug-in for Firefox and the PPAPI Flash Player for Chrome.  The PPAPI Flash Player for Chrome is totally encapsulated -- it doesn't even share settings.
SO... malware aside, the next most likely culprit is graphics drivers.  Each of the independent Flash Player installations attempts to use a hardware accelerated feature (like video playback), but the driver crashes.  Typically updating the graphics drivers would resolve this, or you can experiment with disabling hardware acceleration.  How do I disable or enable hardware acceleration? Windows: how do I update the device driver for my video/display adapter?

I've had my iPad since August 2010 and have loved it.  The battery life is great, never had any issues with it at all.  My current habit is to charge it fully to 100% and not charge it again until it reaches 1%.  I only ever charge it with the wall p
