Shooting long video with D70

I've just bought a D70 with a main objective of shooting Full HD videos. I'm currently facing an issue where the D70 is stopping the video shooting at a maximum lenghth of 29:59 minutes. My videos are longer than that limit. I've been searching the forum since morning and what I can see is some advices to have a high speed reading\writing memory cards. Mine is Transcend 200x (30MB/s) and I don't see that this is the real problem. In the operating manual it says that the video will be ended automatically after 29:59 minutes and if needed to continue shooting, one has to press again on start/stop button!
is there any solution to that challenge? I can't stop my video shooting and shift my focus off what I need to say in the video just for a sake of another press of a button!

Magic lantern has the feature of restarting the video again. In some cameras, you can also format the SD-card into exfat.

Can we assume that your 1080p30 is an AVCHD.mp4 file or other?

Shooting a video with the built in camera?

Hi,
How do you shoot a video with your built in camera on the new iMac? Is this possible? If so what are the steps (or a website to direct me too?) involved and what format will it be in when it's done? I know using Quicktime Pro I can change the format later for a blog, website or Powerpoint. How do you find the code for the video (like the inbed code you see on youtube to upload a video onto a blog?

Hi to all. Recently purchased this phone with a view to use it also as a 'second camera' for shooting my videos which I post on YT.

Your signature says iOS 6.1.2 but your post mentions iOS 7. Exactly what version you have matters. There was a bug in 6.1.3 that could allow access to photos and there was a bug in 7.0.2 that allowed access to the phone app but nothing else. I'm not aware of one in 7.0.4 that will give access. The Activation Lock will prevent reuse of the phone even if they wipe it via recovery mode and there is no none bypass for Activation Lock.

Shooting night video with the G16

I'm looking for advice. I've only had my Canon G16 for about a month and I need to do some extensive night video. I'm wondering what's the best setup to use.
Can I adjust ISO, white balance, etc. while shooting video? (I know I can adjust exposure compensation because there's a separate dial for that.)
If so, I'm wondering what are the best settings to minimize noise while giving me my best shot at a useable video clip. Can you help?

The items you mentioned need to be set before you start the video. Once the G16 is running the video, you cannot make adjustments to white balance, ISO, etc. The people I deal with all run the video for their G16's in Auto mode and let the camera make the decisions. But like myself, they don't use video very often, so hopefully someone with video experience on the G16 can give some better insight.

How do I create an entire class as a long video with quizzes every now and then.

I am creating classes documentary video style. I would like my students to watch them and take quizzes at certain points in the video to make sure they are watching. I also want to control their playback. I can't have them skipping forwards, yet I want them to be able to go back. Is there a way to do this in captivate? Is captivate the right program for me?

This seems possible with Captivate.
Do you have an already made video for that documentary in any video file format?
If you have a video then in Captivate, you can insert that video as a multi slide synchronized video (Video > Insert video > Multi slide video ), it means that single video will be distributed to a number of slides in Captivate.
You can also, later on decide how much part of video should stay on which slide and the slide duration, from video management in Captivate (Video > Video Management).
Within those slides you can insert question slides in Captivate.
If you do not want the play bar at the bottom, or want to customize that, you can do so, by going into Project > Skin Editor in Captivate.
You can also insert a table of contents and check the option to navigate visited slides only.

How do i get my ipad to stay on to take a long video with the camera?

I would like to record about an hours worth of footage with my ipad. Everytime I try, it shuts off about 5 minutes in. What do I need to change to allow the recording to continue? Thanks!

Settings>General>Auto Lock>Never.
The iPad will not go to sleep at all, but don't forget to set it back to 5 minutes or whatever time you want to use in the settings so that you don't burn through your battery any faster than needed.

Recorded long video with Iphone 4s...wont appear on Photos

Recorded a 900MB file with the Iphone 4s Camera. Never appeared on Photos list. I did find the file and transferred it to my Mac as a .MOV file but it wont open. It does show it has 900+ mb on the file....Any ideas on how to open it or fix it?

do you have quicktime on your Mac? Should be able to play it using quicktime.

If AMDS is running, you are using a USB port directly on the computer and not a hub, you have disconnected other USB devices except keyboard and mouse, you have completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925, You have tried cleaning the connector on the bottom of the phone, you have tried a different cable, you have installed the latest USB drivers for your computer, you have disabled your antivirus and firewall, you are running as an Administrator account and you have tried creating a new user on your computer and connected when logged in as that user then you have exhausted my knowledge. The only other thing to try is a different computer. If it isn't recognized on a different computer you have a hardware problem. Good luck!

Shooting stills while recording video with the SX50

Has anyone done this? I was shooting some video yesterday and was happy with how it came out until I realized that pressing the shutter button while recording video actually caused the video to insert a black frame and included the shutter sound. What is this?
My Kodak Z990 was able to do this same function (take pictures during videos) and even though some of them would turn out a bit blurrier than I would have liked, it never insert a black frame and sure didn't stick the shutter sound in there. Did Canon do this on purpose? I'm going to have to try and pull this video into some video editor to remove the frame and sound and hope it works.
Lesson learned, I guess. I'll take pictures and video separately from now on, just in case, but it's unfortunate that Canon screwed up badly on this feature.

Yep better ask in the Premeire Pro forums, but while loading their forum page check the cutter tool (C) it will allow you to cut your footage

My brother-in-law trapped me into converting one of his father's hunting trip videos from VHS to DVD. I didn't really say I would do it, but I ended up with the chore anyway.
Here is my dilemma, and I'm open to suggestions.
The video is on VHS so it's 4:3. My copy of Final Express 3.5 seems to only allow 16:9 videos... and I'm certain I was able to change this at one point in time, but now I can't find any sort of adjustment that will make it 4:3 again. So I have this video in the middle of a 16:9 space. I don't really care about that... except for the fact that...
The video is just a bit too large to work with iDVD. For whatever reason, despite the claim of 2 hours worth of video, it will not compress this 1 hour 24 minute video to work on a single layer DVD.
So I opened Toast as a back up. I dropped the QT Video (exported from FCE) into the Toast spot... and it seemed to work except the video doesn't show up. I can hear it play, but there is no picture at all.
I thought maybe it's because Toast won't work with 16:9... but I can't imagine that's the case. I tested other Quicktime .mov files and they show up fine in the Toast preview screen. It's just this one that doesn't want to work.
So... I need help in any of a number of ways:
1. How do I make it 3:4 in FCE?
2. How can I make it fit in iDVD?
3. Does it need to be 3:4 to show up in Toast?
Is there something I'm doing wrong that I could be doing right?
I've made tons of videos before, but I've never had this many issues. I'm just rusty. I mean, how long has it been since someone has handed me a VHS tape?

I tried the Quicktime export and I selected a different size, but it came out elongated.
To what codec did you transcode the data? If you left it in NTSC DV, then the encoding dimensions are fixed and the display dimensions are determined by the presence or absence of the anamorphic flag/value. Since the content is 4:3, if the project is 16:9, then the output will be distorted/spread across the entire width of the display window making people and objects look short and fat. Conversely, 16:9 content captured to a 4:3 project will be exported with people and objects looking tall and skinny
Since I am just capturing and burning the video with no editing, I just found the raw .mov file and put it into Toast
If no editing is contemplated, you may want to consider just using the free Vidi capture utility here. It captures the DV DAC output as DV (DV/DV) like iMovie rather than MOV (DV/AIFF) files in FCE/FCP and allows you to monitor the the capture as it occurs. Files are imported in their "native" aspect as output by your DAC device. All you have to do is set the correct aspect for the display window since there is no "project" editing aspect ratio to worry about and then you can drop the captured files directly to either iDVD or Toast.

This is a copy of ONEof the keys in the registry I changed as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so I downloaded the software and installed again.

Today version 3.6.4 downloaded and installed. Since thne I can not longer download videos with real Play.

Premiere (Shooting Video with Canon 5Dmkii)

Hello all,
This weekend I had the chance to shoot at a parade here in NYC. I had stage access and decided to shoot video with my DSLR. I rarely shoot video but usually am okay with the video quality. My problem tho is not with the video but with the audio. I am not rigged for professional style video capturing and only have what the camera has built in. With that said all of my audio was recorded from the camera's built in mic. I was also standing directly behind the speakers so the audio levels are very high in the Bass and pretty low on the Mids & Highs. First should I be doing my audio adjustments in Premiere? If so what are the best methods or Effects to use to gain my levels. If Premiere is not the best choice for this I do have the CS5 Master Suite 9is there another app that should be used?)

Thanks for the responses. I do have soundbooth. Question then is can I modify the audio without losing any sync between audio and video. When I open the file in soundbooth with it overwrite the audio portion of the file only?
