Shooting mode info?

I have just begun using iPhoto '11 and can't seem to find where the shooting data is found (beyond the basic camera name, aperture etc).  I like to know what mode I have shot in (auto, portrait, sports etc).
iPhoto is also not displaying the correct name/size for my lens.
Any ideas?
Thanks so much.

I used Jeffrey's Exif viewer and it says the following
Lens
28.0 - 75.0 mm (35 mm equivalent: 43.7 - 117.2 mm)
Canon EF 28-70mm f/2.8L or Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX
Does this help?  It's a bit annoying to have to use the viewer every time.  I'm missing my Canon ZoomerBrowser/Windows Gallery software :-(
I really just want to remember what mode I used for the shots.
Ta.

How to view shooting mode of an image in iPhoto 2011 library, it's not visable using "info"

It depends on what you mean by shooting mode.  There's a lot of info in the Info window but it's often represented by icons.  Here's a screenshot comparing the full info window of earlier iPhoto versions with the current version:
You might find what you're looking for in there, or not.
Or you can download the free EXIF Viewer (Mac) - Download, put it in the dock and drag photos from the iPhoto window onto the application in the dock to give you this window:

  • Continuous Shooting Mode Setting Download

I use a Nikon D70 and shoot sports events on continuous shooting mode setting. Photos are in correct sequence when viewed on camera. When downloaded, photos are often out of sequence. Any suggestions as to how I might fix this problem? Thanks.

Yes, the problem is the sub-second time. Since the D70 shoots at 3 fps, no wonder some files end up having exactly the same time, up to the second. It's not clear, though, why wouldn't Lightroom use the filename as the second sorting criteria — that would ensure correct order, since cameras are numbering the files sequentially.
    You have two options:
Free — just sort by filename. Cameras number the files in the correct order, no matter if the time is the same.
Cheap (99$) — update to Lightroom 2.3. Since v2, Lightroom retrieves the sub-second information from the files, and even if the fractions of seconds are not displayed in the Metadata panel, these are used for sorting. I am not sure all cameras record subsecond information in EXIF, but my own D70 does for sure.
NOTE: If you'll be updating your catalog from v1 to v2, rather than importing the files in a fresh v2 catalog, you'll have to Save, then Read back Metadata for your D70 files, in order to ensure the subsecond information is actually read from files. That's because v1 didn't bother to read this info, so it's not there.

  • Elph 330 Continuous Shooting Mode

I decided to finally try out the continuous shooting mode on my Elph 330, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it's supposed to do. From the manual, it sounds like I should be able to hold the shutter button down and the camera will continuously snap pictures, but no matter what I try it just takes a single picture. I'm sure I have the mode set to continuous, and per the manual I don't have any settings on that conflict with continuous shooting. Am I misunderstanding the purpose of the continuous shooting mode? Or is there some other secret that isn't in the manual?
    Solved!

Yes, that's the intent of continuous shooting; you hold down the button and it takes multiple shots.  It's possible that certain shooting modes don't allow continuous shooting.  I'd assume it has a sports mode, try that to see if it works.

  • HD video newbie question related to camera shooting mode

    Hi everyone
I apologize in advance as this has been covered (sort of) but I cannot definitively answer my question reading other posts so perhaps your answers will clarify this for myself and future interested parties.
I am ready to purchase a Canon HF S100 VIXIA camcorder after looking at a lot of reviews.
I have iMovie9 and will be using this exclusively (I hope?)
I am aware that if I edit anything or add transitions or image stabilization the video will be downgraded to SD, this is not related to my topic.
    Questions follow
The camera supports 24p Cinema mode and 30p mode. Both of these shoot at 24 or 30 frames per second in HD using 60i which I presume means that each progressive frame is encoded in two sequential interlaced frames which must be combined (or something like that). I would like to use this mode as it has much better low light performance and I have a lot of indoor use, BUT---
Will iMovie9 support this and display the video as a HD progressive scan frame or will it discard this information and keep it as 60i or fail or something else?
    Thanks for your help.

.. 1080/60i - recordings made with the PF24, PF30 frame rate are converted and recorded on the memory as 60i
afaik, most (all?) consumer camcorders, claiming '24p' (or Cinema or...), scale on export (or record) to 60i ..
for me, this '24p' is mostly marketing... 24fps is a historic 'standard' for film/celluloid. in times, when displays claim 200fps, .. why 24? why not simple 29.97/30p (or here: 25)...?

  • Standby mode info..

i recently purchased a pearl from us cellular, and i've looked through my user guide and on the cd that came with it to find out info on the standby mode... what exactly can the phone do in standby? does it still ring when a call comes in, alert with messages, etc? just trying to find out what all it does while in standby mode to see if i should start using it at night...

Standby mode denotes the screen that appears right after turning on the BlackBerry. Calls, SMS or alerts can be received while in standby mode.

  • ,psd and .ai don't show color mode info

    G5 10.4.11, Bridge 2.1.1.9
I have set up Bridge Preferences to show Color Mode when viewing thumbnails (Preferences > Additional Lines of Thumbnail Metadata > Show: Color Mode).
But, when viewing thumbnails, I can only see the color mode listed with .tiff, .jpeg and .gif files, but not .psd and .ai files. Am I missing something here?
I am looking for a useful tool that will identify all non-CMYK images, easily, as we use .ai and .psd files almost exclusively.

Ramon- the reason we had removed profiles from files that already had them:
ID CS3 sizes were abnormally large. We had a template that was 90MB, with lots of small images on the master pages. When saved as an .inx file and opened in CS2, that same file was much, much smaller (sorry, don't have the actual size). We then noticed that profiles in the .psd files increased the file size dramatically, especially for files that are very small in the first place. For example: a profile would increase the layered file size from 220k to 928k, and for the same flattened file, from 72k to 928k.
This in of itself might be OK, but the InDesign file now seems to include the profile info. When the profiles were removed from all the images, this 90MB InDesign template decreased to about 15MB.
We were told that our printer strips out the profiles anyway, so we figured we didn't need the profiles at this stage of the layout.

  • In continous foto shooting mode (10pics/sec) the order of the photos in photo stream is no longer correct!

Photostream does not rank the photos correct if they are shot in continous mode, so that up to 10 pics/sec have the same creation date. Some of these photos are edited, some not. Maybe it is associated with that.
I don´t know if it´s an Aperture or the photostream problem and how to solve it.

So anyone that has the invite can view it?
Yes. Make sure to turn on Public website on the Shared stream. Select the stream and tap Edit at the bottom.
Private Sharing only works for iOS/Mac users when viewing the Shared stream in iPhoto on the Mac or Photos app on iOS. or with PC users and the iCloud control panel
If you do not have the Public website enabled, the link will not work.

  • Checking SD or CF card's remaining capacity on my 5D III, in video shooting mode

How can i tell the remaing capacity on my SD or CF card, while shooting video with 5D III.
    Thank you

    Hello Sasanus.
When shooting video with the EOS 5D Mark III, a five level indicator will appear on the right side of the screen.  It indicates how much data has not yet been written to this card (remaining capacity of the internal buffer memory).  The slower the card the faster the indicator will climb upward.  If the indicator becomes full, movie shooting will stop automatically.

  • Aperture 3 can display Shooting Mode? Example: A/S/M/P

    Where can i see?
    Thanks!

Yes. Select the Metadata tab when viewing a photo, and then in the combo box directly under the camera info select "EXIF Info" in the list. You'll see all sorts of info in there about the exposure.

  • How can I see shooting data in iphoto

I'm used to being able to view my shooting data in Canon Zoom Browser, but can't find these details in iphoto. I can see some of the info, but not the shooting modes (eg. portrait, auto, sports etc).  I have seen in discussion threads people talking about 'extended info' using the exposure button, but I can't find this either.

  • Does iPhoto display shooting statistics?

    Hello all.
I currently use an XP machine with Canon Zoombrowser to manage my photos. I am often interested in the shooting statistics of the photos I take (eg. f-stop, shutter speed, shooting mode, ISO, whether flash fired, etc) to help learn from what I take to take better ones in future.
As I'm leaning towards the Mac world, I want to make sure I can continue to do this. I can't find anything in the iPhoto discussions or Apple promos to indicate this functionality exists, or even if it does whether it will work with my camera (Canon PowerShot A80). The Canon websites also give no indication of whether there is a version of Zoombrowser available for Mac.
    Would anyone know:
    - does iPhoto do shooting statistics as described above?
    - is there a version of Zoombrowser, or indeed any other software, that can handle these stats?
    Many thanks in advance.
