Shooting Tethered AND saving images to camera memory card?

While Tethered In Aperture 3 is there any way to leave/see the image on the camera memory card?
I review images while shooting as a client watches the images import into the computer.
This IS possible in Canon's EOS Utility but I do not see the corresponding preference in Aperture. Something like: "leave image on card during import."
Any thoughts? Thanks -- j
Canon 5D Mkii -- Aperture 3.1 -- Macbook Pro

@e2photo -- yeah, I can't believe this functionality has disappeared. On the Apple/Canon side, it could be that the software cannot distinguish between importing all the images on the card vs. tethered and importing just one image at a time. I don't know.
@TonyGay -- thanks for the tip. I'll look into that software.
Also, I posted this on another discussion forum on flickr, and someone there swears he can get this to work, but I haven't been able to do so. He suggests looking at the preferences of the Camera's proprietary software (Canon EOS Utility). There is a check box for "leave image on card" but it does not make a difference in my situation. Knowing the finicky nature of all these connections, it may be that I have to do things in a specific order, i.e. plug in camera, turn on power, set preference, or vice versa. I'm still trying.

  • Transfer photo from camera memory card to dvd

hi...i am a novice and need to know how i can transfer photos and video from a camera memory card to a dvd on my imac

Mount the card to the desktop in a card reader or your camera if it mounts and drag them to a folder - right click on the folder and burn to Disk
Or import to iPhoto and export as kind = original to a desktop folder and burn that

  • I cannot erase alias JPeg images on a memory card so that it will not accept any more which I try to load onto it, yet there are no actual images available if I click on any of them. The error message states that one or more cannot

Cannot delete aliases for JPeg images on a lumix camera memory card even selecting individual images anjd trying to move to trash -error35 one or more items cannot be found. No image available on clicking or if card put back into camera-"no images to disply" Yet if try to add more images, message that card is full! Any suggestions?

Deleting from iPhoto or image capture after import should be fine and shouldn't cause any issues. Deleting from the folder view of finder, can cause issues as the camera can the image is still there. You can try emptying the trash on your mac if you deleted them via the finder, as although you've deleted it, it's only marked as trashed and not actually deleted until you empty the trash - ie it won't relieve the space taken by the files.
If your still having issues after you try this, you may be best formating the memory card. This will wipe all data on it though, so make sure you do copy anything off that yo u want to keep! Format from the camera, so that choosing the format>erase all option from the menu of most cameras.

  • I'm having trouble with video imported from my camera memory card.

I'm having trouble with video imported from my camera memory card. The video breaks up and pixelizes when it's directly imported from the memory card. That makes the video useless. Why does this happen? It doesn't do that in any other video editing software. Thanks for the help.

    More info please:
    Type of camera?
Was the card formatted in the camera doing the shooting?

  • Lightroom only recognizing / importing ~10% of the images on my memory card, but not consistently?

Lightroom is only recognizing some images from my memory card when I import from the camera. The amount of images it recognizes on a given attempt varies (114 one time I plugged in and tried to import, 128 images another time...etc.). It's only seeing about 10% of total number of images on the card, AND the previews of the images it does see aren't working.
Any ideas? This started right after I downloaded the recent updates.
Previously I've had problems with it being slow to recognize the camera when plugged in, but this is a new one. I know the photos are still there (thank goodness) because I can flip through them on my camera.
    Thanks!
    Katie
    Stats:
    I'm on a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9.4.
    Lightroom 5, Version 5.6 (Build 974614)
    Just downloaded the updates today.
Camera is a Nikon D90, a few years old.
Memory card is a SanDisk 16GB SDHC.
Things I've already tried (that haven't worked):
    Restarting Lightroom
Creating a new catalogue, and importing to that
    Optimizing the existing catalogue
Turning the camera on and off
Trying a new connector cables (USB to mini USB)

    Hi Katie,
When you put the SDCard directly into the MacBook's memory card reader and import from there, do the pictures you expect show up in the previews?
Maybe it's the camera's USB port that is slowly giving up..
    Greetings,
    Simon

  • Why did Mac delete camera memory card?

We used a card reader that had been used on a PC, and a camera memory card that had been used on a PC. A pro master GB compact flash. The photos were put on iPhoto. When the card was put into a reader on a PC after that, it refused to let us see the photos. Now back on the Mac, it says the card is not recognizable.
Why does Mac refuse to allow you to use things on a PC? How do we get the photos back and in the future how do we avoid this?

    Hi Terence
I just thought I would let you know that I followed your link and the second video where the guy cuts a piece of card and inserts it into the slot worked for me at only the second attempt. This retrieved the HD Card after it was completely lodged in the CD Drive and invisible.
Thank you so much for the link....you have probably saved me about £100 and a long trip to an Apple Store.
Thanks and have a nice day.
    Albert.

  • How to upload photos from computer to camera memory card?

I want to copy a few select photos and AVI files from the Organizer back to a new camera memory card.

A new message was posted by Colin Walls:
how to upload photos from computer to camera memory card:
Open Organizer. Then open Windows Explorer [My Computer] and navigate to the memory card "drive." Drag the images from Organizer to the memory card.
    Dear Colin Walls:
Thanks for your excellent tip. It works just as you said. The WHY I want to do this is:
when I want to print a lot of pictures, I take my memory card to Longs Drug store and use their "machine." Naturally, I want to have all the photos I need on the card.
A few days ago at Longs, I edited about 75 photos of a recent family reunion from my 512MB SD card taken with my Canon PowerShot A510. I ended up ordering 198 4x6 prints. My daughter had several good reunion photos on her digital camera. She e-mailed me seven photos as attachments, thus they were on my computer, but not on my memory card, until I started dragging as per the hint from Colin Walls.
Windows Explorer shows the file structure on the card as one DCIM folder, with subfolders 155 CANON, 156 CANON, 157 CANON, 158 CANON, and CANONMSC. I proceeded to drag each my daughter's seven photos from PS Elem. 4 Organizer to the folder 158 CANON, except that I dragged one to the folder CANONMS, by mistake.
The good news is that Longs machine and PS Elem. 4 both see ALL the photos on the card. The bad news is that my camera does not see the added photos, nor does the Canon ZoomBrowser 3.2 and 5.5 programs, nor the Picasa2 program.
    Thanks Colin. Gary Docherty

  • After I import a movie file from the camera memory card, Imovie 10.0.1 acts as if the memory card is empty though I know it isn't.... I can't import that file to iMovie again.. is that the way it worksnow?  Thank you, Filippo

On IMac 10.9  After I import a movie file from the camera memory card to Imovie 10.0.1 it acts as if the memory card is empty though I know it isn't.... I can't import that file to iMovie again.. is that the way it works now?  Anyone know?  Thanks, Filippo

I would like to know this too. I imported a lot of files, then Imovie crashed. I went back in and they are not in imovie at all.
I reconnected the camcorder to import again and though they are still on the camcorder, I no longer see them in the available list of files to import. I'm sure there is some sort of simple setting somewhere that reveals all files even if it thinks they are imported.
    Thanks

  • Digital Camera Memory Card Reader

Is there a device that I can plug into my computers USB port and transfer pictures from my cameras memory card to my computer..
I also have a Motorola Razor phone that I would like to transfer photos from to my computer, is there a device for that.

Have a look at this link...

Personally, I would be looking for a USB 3 reader for maximum speed.

  • My Mac Mini will charge - but not sync with - USB-connected devices (ipod, camera, memory card reader). How do I fix it?

My Mac Mini will charge - but not sync with - USB-connected devices (ipod, camera, memory card reader). I have tried unplugging the devices, restarting the computer, selectively unplugging and plugging in the devices, closing and opening the relevant applications (iTunes, iPhoto, etc). I have tried using different USB cables.
It's like all of a sudden the synching service stopped functioning or recognizing these devices for some reason. The other ports work just fine (monitor).
The only USB-connected external device that appears to be unaffected is the USB SuperDrive and it works on all the USB ports into which I plug it.
    How do I fix this?

Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens or doesn't happen.

just installed elements 9 , plugged camera memory card into computer, I see it on my computer but adobe says can't find device ?

Perhaps the type of file on the camera card is not supported by elements 9 (I have elements 12 and all of my pictures are jpegs so I wouldn't know).  You might have to save the pictures you want to your computer as jpegs.

  • I am new to iMac.  Camera memory card

I am new to my iMac.  I inserted my camera memory card and successfully uploaded my photos, but when I take the card out of the computer I get an error message that atells me I should eject it properly.  How do I do this?

Select the card's icon and either use the Command E keyboard shortcut or select Eject from the File menu. Or, drag the card's icon to the trash can folder on the Dock (which will magically turn into the eject icon as you do so).

  • Mounting a camera memory card

I want to use a camera memory card for data aswell as for my camera. Iphoto loads fine and will take my pictures... but since its 4GB I want to mount it like a drive and save other things to it...
Disk Utility will not see it as a drive... only iphoto know a card has been plugged into it...
I am using a Lexar USB Card Reader.
    any way to mount it?

It would require you to "format" the card to either a PC (Mac's can read/write) or Mac file format using the Disk Utility app.
Since Disk Utility can't "see" it how does iPhoto?
Formatting the card may also remove the camera's ability to record to it.
I would leave it alone until the prices drop and you can afford to gamble on formatting it.

  • How do I get  camera memory card out of the DVD slot?

How do I get  camera memory card out of the DVD slot?

Well, for one thing it shouldn't be in the DVD slot. You can try turning the computer on it's side and see if you can coax it out, but otherwise you will need to take it in for service because the computer has to be disassembled.
