Shooting with 2 iPhone cameras

Hi,
I am a musician and I want to make some music videos of me playing the drums. The idea I had was to set up 2 iPhones and then control the cameras remotely from my mac (this would let me get multiple camera angles in one take).
By doing this, I could ensure that both the cameras roll at the same time so I don't have to get up and manually set them recording. It will also ensure that the shooting is synced up correctly without too much work in post production.
Does anyone know of an app or a method of doing this? Or, will it just have to be the old school method of setting each one to roll and then spend a while editing it up afterwards?
Bit lazy, but it would be great to have this option if it is available... Or if there are any devs out there - I would definitely buy this!
Thanks
@Torkerz

Just to clarify things...
I was able to get a 15$/month voice-only prepaid plan that I added to my iPhone 4 (at least something good out of paying high price to buy the device already unlocked directly from Apple).
After inserting the MicroSIM in, nothing had changed. However, a couple mins later, the Facetime button suddently appeared in my contacts list. There's no registration or setting to play with at all.
Initiating the Facetime call won't send a voice call, nor does it send a SMS: my account on my provider's website still shows "0 mins, 0 secs, and 0 text messages" used, and I initiated/received a dozen Facetime calls so far. I know Facetime uses WiFi, but I was wondering if it would count as a quick voice call, SMS or something, to establish connection until it switches to WiFi. I confirm it doesn't.
However, people still do need to use my phone number to send me a Facetime call (it won't work if they try using my email). It's also my phone number that showed on their screen when I called them for the first time (they didn't have my number yet in their contacts list) so Facetime is really bound to your phone number on the iPhone, and there's nothing you can do about it
Also, if I remove the MicroSIM card, the Facetime icon disappear so don't count on borrowing a friend's MicroSIM for a sec, to activate Facetime on your device and then remove the card, hoping it will still work email-based. It won't.
It still suck that you are forced to pay a monthly fee only to have a phone number attached to the iPhone so you can use Facetime, while it works email-based on cheaper devices Apple should make that Facetime app (the one they use on iPod Touch 4G) appear if no carrier is detected so you still can use Facetime email-based.
Hope this helps.

Is there a way to store videos into a separate album right after you shoot it on iPhone camera?
Finding videos in iPhone photo album requiers you to search through everything on your album. Is there a way to create separate video album or have them automatically save to a dedicated video album?
It's a pain finding videos when you use the camera so much and as it is I'm constantly organizing the photos.

Not even an app that might do this?

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
    Restart..  Reset..  Restore...
    Reset your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release the buttons...

  • How can I see what I'm shooting with my Iphone in realtime on my Ipad

    Hi Everyone,
In a few days time, I need to make a short film with an iphone.
And in order to make things easier, I would like to connect my Iphone to my Ipad, preferably via BLUETOOTH ('cause I'll be shooting on the streets where there is no WIFI and my to have my Iphone function as a camera and a WIFI hotspot doesn't seem like a really good idea).
So basically I'm trying to figure out how to connect my Iphone and Ipad to each other via bluetooth
    which
allows me to see what my camera is filming on my iphone in realtime (or with a little delay) on my ipad.
The Ipad kind of has to function as a second screen/ mirror screen/ remote monitor...
So, if anybody has any suggestions on how to fix that? Or is aware of an App that does exactly that, which is out there, than I would love to hear all about it...
    Thanks in advance !

There is no way to do what you want to so. No such app exists and there is no way to connect the two devices via Bluetooth for the purpose that you want.

  • How can I achieve a professional quality filming style/look with the iPhone camera?

Hey everyone!  So, as a fun experiment I'm starting to play with my iPhone 4S camera and am interested in seeing if I can achieve some specific styles of filming.  Specifically, I'm looking to get a Spielberg-esque feel in a short film I want to make, which J. J. Abrams nailed in 2011's Super 8.  I'm also a big fan of The Rocketeer, which also has a classic Spielberg feel to it, and was curious what it would take to achieve that style.  Finally, in terms of more modern styles, I love the clean looks of movies like Captain America and even The Amazing Spider-Man, which I know what shot on a Red Epic.  And before I forget, even though I know both Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder use film, is there any way to pull off what they did on The Dark Knight trilogy or Man of Steel?  Man of Steel especially had some cool Terrence Malick Tree of Life-esque shots I liked as well.
I'm really just looking for what I can do to film it like them, and then what I'd need to utilize in post-production to further solidify these styles.  I know apps like Filmic Pro have been suggested, and right now I'm only using iMovie in post, but any further ideas are welcome.  Thanks!

you're  listing movies, made by hundreds of professionals with 100s mio of dollars - and you like to accomplish the same 'look' with a mobile phone … ? hmmm ........
    basicly …
    a) Photography
The 'cameraman' is for good reasons called Director of Photography - s/he studied for years, how to paint with light. There's a Emmy-awarded documentary, I like to recommend beginners like you, spend 3 hours watching them both: Zacuto Camera Shootout I  and Zacuto Camera Shootout II
You learn just by watching a lot about what a DoP is looking at.
'Spoiler': In ptII/The Revenge one 'camera' is an iPhone.
… but operated by a professional! He knows the limitations of such a device, e.g. the poor 4 f-stops, it delivers etc etc ....
NONE of your listed movies uses 'existing/ambient light', it's all 'made'.-
    b) Grading
ColorGradingCentral offers 15 free tutorials for FCPX … meant as a start.
It also offers tutorials for the pro-grading tool DaVinciResolve …
NONE of your listed movies shows 'real' light, all are 'graded'.-
    Last word:
It's not the device, it's the one handling it who creates art/quality.
So, use tons of light, use it wisely, grade your movies with years of experience - done.
Or, use the tons of ready-made plugins (a good source for free ones here) avail for FCPX to give your material 'looks'.
But it will never look as Spielberg-ish as you want
... if there's a one-click-done solution, be sure, Christopher Nolan wouldn't spend hundreds of Millions of Dollars for his movies ...

  • Can I shoot with a NTSC camera and convert to a PAL dvd through Final Cut

i am shooting a wedding for someone in Scotland that will be getting married in the States, and she wants a PAL dvd. Can i shoot the video with my NTSC camera (HVX 200) and with Final Cut convert it to PAL? If not can it be done someway?

the prefered way is to standards convert the video and import it into a PAL sequence
    http://www.nattress.com/Products/standardsconversion/standardsconversion.htm
an alternative is to produce an NTSC DVD; it will playback on a computer; Mac or PC, it might play back on the users hardware DVD player/ TV combination but it might not, no guaranteed there.
    Best bet is option 1

  • What'as wrong with my iPhone camera?

My iPhone camera started acting up last month. I replaced both the from and back camera but the problems with the back camera persist. I get vertical colored lines whenever I open camera, in both the camera app and third-party apps. I read that it's a problem with lighting but it happens outdoors too. Does this mean I'm stuck using only my front facing camera? And I'm out of warranty so apple store is not likely to help me.

    who did the repair?

  • Long exposure with the iPhone camera?

Is it possible to take long-exposure shots with the iPhone 5s camera?

Yes, there are apps for that.  Looking the App Store for camera apps and choose one that suits your needs.
By the way, a Google search using the exact same words as your thread title came up with the first result of 'LongExpo' in the App Store.

  • What's wrong with my iPhone camera

I am not able to use my face time nor am I able to use my reverse facing camera setting. I get this behind a curtain kind of screen. When I tap the camera icon to turn it back to front facing it does not respond -either way-I have shut down all my running apps as suggested by support and delete others. Something I never had to do with my 4s. Support is calling me tomorrow to discuss this. I think I have a defunct iPhone 5s.

Not sure what it is you do not understand, so maybe you will want to take a look at the User Guide here http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

  • Problem with the iPhone Camera Driver.

I have the Original iPhone with a 3.1.2 OS and I'm on a Windows Vista Ultimate x64 machine. The "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" is installed and everything works perfectly normal, iTunes recognizes the iPhone and I can transfer files and use all the functions iTunes has. The only problem I have is that when I plug in my iPhone the "iPhone" driver fails to install every time therefor it's not showing on My Computer and I can't get the photos from my phone as the driver I need makes the iPhone look as a 'Digital Still Camera'. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling every Apple related software multiple times, uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers from the Device Manager and scanned for hardware changes but nothing worked. I also tried to change various USB ports and followed other simple instructions given by people on forums but none of these worked. I would really appreciate if anyone can help me solve this problem.
    This is the problem message I'm getting when it fails to install;
    http://www1.speedyshare.com/files/20781820/download/Problem.jpg
    ..and this is the report for that same error;
    http://www3.speedyshare.com/files/20781858/download/Report.jpg
I think it's important to mention that I plugged in my phone on another machine (Windows XP) and every thing worked good.
    Thanks in advance.

I have a 3GS and was having many problems with my device driver using Windows 7.
The solution I found was to uninstall the driver
Can do this through Device Manager--
KEY STEP: I also read that having any photos in your CAMERA ROLL which you saved from the internet or email will INTERFERE with proper installation of the driver.
Save yourself some headaches and before going through these steps make sure you delete all images in your camera roll which were saved from email or the internet. I beat my head against the wall for a good hour because I couldn't believe it would make a difference--it does--I have no idea why.
    THEN:
Open device manager and navigate to "Portable Devices" and uninstall the driver.
Unplug the iphone and plug it back in. The driver should install normally and actually be functional. It worked for me anyway.
    Hope this helps.

  • Does any one know what is wrong with my iphone 4 camera not working?

when I use my Iphone and want to take a picture I cant because often times my camera on the back doent work and when it does I cant get the selfie camera to work at all. I like using my camera on my phone I am an avid camera user because I am a part time photographer. But I cant use it at all I have done all the resets there are available I have put it in DFU mode and erased everything and hoped that this worked but not relief. I did this only 8 times and still doenst work does anybody out there have this same problem and think it may be hardware related because I am about to have someone (apple ccertified) open it up to see if it is the camera ribbon cable that might be loose. Is anyone else upset with this issue if they have it? I know I am.

    Hi EMT-B,
It sounds like you have done all the troubleshooting needed to narrow down your issue with the iPhone camera to hardware. Based on the information you have provided, it appears your iPhone needs to be serviced. The following link should help you get started with the process and has links with additional information on topics such as warranty and service pricing, battery replacement, and express replacement service.

  • Why no video recording with iphone camera

Can I not take a video with my iphone camera? My old $50 phone did. My $500 iphone can't??????

    This is correct.
Was the retail price for this phone $50, or was this your subsidized price for the phone? If subsidized by the cellular provider, the full retail price wasn't $500, but it was much more than $50.
The iPhone includes a camera, so it is a matter of software required to capture video with the camera and save the video. I can only assume Apple decided not to focus development resources on software that they thought the majority of people probably don't or wouldn't use, regardless if a $50 phone is so capable. The few times I've captured video with a cell phone, it wasn't worth the effort. Mediocre quality at best, but usually poor.
With firmware update 2.0 to be released in early July, along with the iTunes App store for 3rd party software as a result of the iPhone SDK (software developers kit) released in March, it is possible a 3rd party developer will provide software for capturing video with the iPhone, and if so, it will indicate this was Apple's intent all along making it optional to those who want this feature.

  • Why are pics taken with the onboard camera so lousy?

is it the lens? it's certainly not the 2MP resolution - i have an old canon elph 2.0MP that takes crystal-clear shots that are gorgeous. but when i shoot with my iphone - especially in lower light situations, everything is grainy and washed out. it's as bad as my old RAZR 1MP phone cam.
do you think this is a software fixable issue, or is it a hardware thing?

I've been snapping pictures for a long time and have to say I'm very impressed with the iPhone's capabilities. I spent many years in the photography business, behind the camera and behind the counter. I have not had this much fun with a camera since Polaroid introduced the SX-70 back in the olden days. It has its quirks and I embrace them, they give an other-worldly surrealism to the image when they occur. Here is the link to a few I posted on Sony's site:
    http://backstage101.learningcenter.sony.us/profile/galleries.jsp?galleryId=11825 20
I also have others that I've done some extreme photoshop actions on my Flickr site under my MikeKeyW account.
Given the small size and shape along with a nontraditional method to take the picture it is more important than ever to remember the basics of how to take a good picture.
Hold the camera steady, keep the sun to your back, make sure the lens is clean and brace yourself and the camera when shooting in other than bright daylight.
I hope you find this helpful.

  • Iphone camera not recognized in Windows 7

    Hello Fellow iPhone users
I am having a problem with the iPhone camera on the iPhone 3g 3.0. I cannot get it to allow me to open up the camera to get the pictures off of it. When I go to Devices and Printers it shows the Apple Mobile Device USB driver and that is installed fine and it works in ITunes, however, it also shows the iPhone but with the yellow triangle and exclamation point. It says that the driver is not installed properly. The status is needs troubleshooting. When I go to properties, it says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)". I have tried reinstalling iTunes, unplugging, replugging the iPhone. I have tried a different iPhone (a 3GS with version 3.1.2) with the same results(they both work fine in XP).
I have been trying to get this working for a few hours and have no idea what is wrong. Are there any other drivers I can get? How about reinstalling the usb drivers? This is on an Acer netbook, and it was working with Windows 7 starter, but when I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate, it stopped working. I assume it is a driver issue, but I don't know what other drivers I can use or which ones to change out. Other USB cameras are working fine.
Please let me know if you need any other information.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Windows sometimes won't detect the phone and allow camera/scanner access if there are pics on the iphone not taken by the iphone camera. Email any non camera taken pics to yourself, download them on your computer, then delete the pics from the iphone. When you reconnect your computer it should start the camera/scanner download as usuall.
