What DDR3 Kingston memory ?GB. @ 1800MHz < 2000MHz ?
How many people will OC their CPU to 5GHz ?
I Think you are an Extreme OverClocker. Will you be testing 6970 , 6990 also?
I have the MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 OC edition.
my scores 3DMark 11 - P3814, 3DMark 06 - 17409, 3Dmark Vantage - P11184.
and your Scores indicate like 60% improvement over mine.
Oh! surprised you did not run/list your 3DMark 11 since it came packaged with your HD6950.
True the HD 6870 is mid-level and the HD 6950 / 6970 are highend cards which also shows a significant difference
in Performance.
Spend $269 USD (Price at Newegg.com) for MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 OC
or $414 USD  MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 Twin FrozR II 2048MB GDDR5 OC which only know is available in UK link:http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-113-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1752
Not yet sold in USA (I have not been able to locate) since MSI HD 6950 regular unit sells for $299 (price at Newegg.com) add probably $40 for TF II-OC unit once released.
For $270 vs $340 a $70 difference the better buy would be MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 Twin FrozR II 2048MB GDDR5 OC.
Note: I would not purchase the item from UK if ya live in the USA when you have to add S&H plus sales tax looking at $500. ouch!
I Appreciate the info/review and Thankyou for posting it.

All this then the card is nearing 50 degrees Celsius.

I tested driver on msi site and the latest nvidia driver, even tested some beta driver. All give the same result as stated above. I also tested to set the clocks at reference speed but no go. Also tested voltage at 1025.

Got a new card today, same card but new.
No problems now, seem the new card has newer bios and lower  core voltage. Maybe that is a way to fix it, just upgrade bios.

  • MSI nVidia GTX 560ti Twin frozr III loss of output

    Hi folks,
I recently needed my monitor to test another rig and upon plugging it back in I discovered my MSI nVidia GTX 560ti Twin frozr III no longer has video output, I have tried different outputs, different cables, different displays and different motherboard slots to no avail. Had a search around and couldn't find any other instances of this. The card is 2 years old now but has always functioned perfectly (apart from the well publicised memory temperature problem). Any ideas what might be causing this issue?
    Regards,
    hotrats

MSI nVidia GTX 560ti Twin frozr III
    Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3
    Thermatake 750W Evo_blue 2.0
I'm assuming drives and case aren't the issue so not listing them.

The card is 2 years old, but how long wasn't it used for and did you ever had any problems with it?
First of all, I would reset CMOS >>Clear CMOS Guide<< so all the OC is removed (write down settings of CPU OC if you want to use it later on).
Then (I don't know Asus boards) would look through the BIOS if it recognises the card. Possible you should get rid of the possible dust in PCIe slot?
Also: while card is plugged in, run computer and: try all the video ports, even those on motherboard (maybe board doesn't recognise the card and wants to run integrated gpu if there is any).
Last but not least: ask a friend/colleague if you can test your card in their computer. Best if it would be different brand of motherboard, and power supply. Possibly power supply is screwed up somewhere (broken connection)and doesn't deliver enough power to give output.
Does the card start up when you run the PC (fans of the card)?

  • MSI Radeon HD 7950 Twin Frozr V2/OC BIOS update

Have there been any BIOS updates compatible with my card? Perhaps adding Boost or (more importantly) Windows 8 UEFI features, or bug fixes? My BIOS is dated 2012-05-24, and I very much suspect there have been updates with Win8 features since that date. My card is the MSI Radeon HD 7950 Twin Frozr V2/OC, which I believe is the second revision of the MSI Twin Frozr HD 7950 line, before the Boost editions. It is, I believe, the only model in the line which used an HD 7970 pcb instead of an HD 7950 pcb. I would appreciate the latest BIOS, and if it wouldn't be too much trouble, a changelog?
My BIOS, which I have captured using GPU-Z, can be found here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/jeq0pt
    S/N: 602-V277-05SB1205142483
Also, if I do choose to flash, which position should my dual BIOS switch be set to?
    Thanks very much.
Edit: Wow, got my serial number completely wrong the first time.

I have a UEFI GOP (Windows 8 Feature) vbios for you (attached):
Decompress the attached .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the previously provided archive (200.rar) and put the included file (TV277MH.200) on that stick.
Rename TV277MH.200 to 200.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive provided on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 200.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

  • PC powers off under Kombustor stress test MSI GTX 560-TI Twin Frozr II

Recently went through MSI RMA procedure and they replaced my 465 twin frozr II with the 560-TI twin frozr II. When the card is stressed under GPU Burn-IN benchmark settings, the computer will just reboot.  Everything is set to stock speeds on the card.
I want to assume this is a power supply issue but I've had my i7 930 overclocked stably for a while, I reverted to stock speeds to give extra power back to the 12v rail, have unplugged my storage sata hd and dvd power and am still having this issue. Also it appears the 465 takes a lot more power than the 560-ti, though I hadn't stress tested it for quite a while.
My PSU is the OCZ500SXS.  I monitored the 12v rail during stress testing and the lowest i see it drop to is 11.89v. Any ideas to narrow this down would be much appreciated. TIA

Understood.  Thanks much for the response.  I'll replace the psu and run the same tests and see what happens.  All this has lead me to be curious about how power is precisely drawn for the system.  Is there a known good resource/article for getting a complete understanding here?  Thanks.
Also, this appears to be a good deal, no?  Especially the 750w version seems to get quite good reviews and I may do sli at some point so it would be a good idea to be prepared, right?

Don't want to look dumb, but I have no idea on how to flash from an USB key, could I burn a CD ISO and do the same? Also what are the exact settings of the bios posted in that thread you just told me? I might only need to set voltage to 1013, everything else seems correct.

    Hi pacnow,
Re flash the card which comes with 823MHz with BIOS attached below.
    How to:
    Create a USB key bootable
How to make USB key bootable: http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm
Then get attached file, and extract & copy all files nvflash.exe, CWSDPMI.EXE and 103.rom
    to the USB key.
Then reboot the computer and boot from the bootable USB key,
when you see A:\ or C:\ type:
    nvflash.exe -b old.rom [ENTER]
Wait process to finish, this will backup/save your current VBIOS.
Then flash the new VBIOS with:
    nvflash.exe -4 -5 -6 103.rom [ENTER]
Wait process to finish, then reboot the machine and you're done

  • MSI GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II - Heat sink and chipset heat sink come into contact

Pretty much what the title says. There is a small heat sink on my GTX 560 which comes into contact with one of the motherboard's heat sinks. The card slipped right in PCI slot without any problems and is working.
However, I'm concerned about heat transfer. Could the card heat up the motherboard's heat sink or the other way around?
This is the small card's heat sink.
    Top view.
Closeup. I guess the surface that makes contact is not so much.
PS: I'm sorry for the poor quality of the photos.

Contact MSI tech support about that issue and see what they have to say about it. You are the 2nd on this forum to ask about it and the only thing I can suggest is trimming the heat sink on the MB or video card but doing so to either one could possibly void the warranty.

  • MSI GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II - No vram or vrm heatsinks?

    Hey,
Just bought this card today and got bit worried when i saw that there is no heatsink at all on VRM and VRAM chips. VRM specially tends to get really hot on these days gfx cards so im not sure why msi leaved vrm chips naked? Other manufacturers seems to have added heatsinks atleast for vrm and most for vram too so i find it pretty odd from msi:s side to leave those out. I wont be using this card that long time as i just bought it to be spare card while waiting GTX 570 back from warranty so im not that worried. But still makes me wonder how long lifespan these cards will have with those naked chips

Well i can still understand that they leaved ram heatsinks out, those dont get REALLY hot. But vrm is difference story, I have even burned my HD 4890 in past cause when i putted aftermarket cooler to it and even that actual gpu temps was really low vrm:s hitted 130c at load and just after few months of use it got broken/burned.
But also i disagree that ram heatsinks are only gimmick. I have personally found that heatsinks on ram too does help and bit and gave bit more overcloking headroom.

  • MSI GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II/OC Batman

Hello MSI, first time poster here. First of all, sorry if this is the wrong section but I figured this is as good a place as any for this. :p
So I recently bought my graphics card (roughly two weeks ago) and I see that you now bundle Batman: Arkham City with select Nvidia graphics cards. I am therefore wondering if it would be possible for me to receive a copy of said game eventho I bought it before this "deal" was announced, but a mere week or two before. Or perhaps it is my etailer I should contact and ask them the same question ?
Thankful for any and all constructive answers,
    Markus.

I think you should go to msi.com support page for your request although i doubt they'll grant it. This a forum where moderators who are not employees of msi are moderating. They'll refer you to msi proper.
