Shortcut for brush rotation & better 3D model rotation/movement

I'm pretty amazed that this still hasn't been added in. Just a nice simple shortcut to rotate the brush(and have the cursor reflect its current rotation) would really help instead of constantly having to go into the brush settings and play guess the angle. An option to determine the amount of degree's to rotate it by per shortcut push somewhere in the toolbars would be nice as well.
Also for the 3d model rotation/movement...why not use a a simple scheme like Maya or 3DMax. Its such a pain to move that I'd rather learn Zbrush or Mudbox or even do it the old fashion way and paint it on a 2d plane....

For the sun I would recommend drawing it as an image attached to the background initially and having a DirectionalLight coming from the same direction. That should create the solar effect you are looking for.
A while ago someone created quite an interesting space flight demo in J3D which used lens flare effects. I think it was posted through the Java3D mailing list so it may be worth looking at the archive for posts about it - I think it probably came out last autumn some time.

Photoshop CS4, MAC, Spanish keyboard shortcut for brush size...

I work with an iMAC and a Mac Book Pro.
My CS4 is genuine English language software.
But having bought my computers here, in Spain, the keyboards are, naturally, the Spanish ones.
So....
I'd like to use the brush size short cuts, which in all English based PS tutorials, are the [ and ].
But when I try this, it doesn't work.
Any hints?

Thanks Christoph. I actually tried this with my iMAC yesterday but CS4 didn't seem to accept my "suggestions".
However, I tried it a few minutes before reading your post in my MAC Book Pro, and it worked!!!
Let's see what happens later when I try it again with my iMAC. It may be a question of CS4 being reluctant to accept certain keyboard strokes.. and not others. In the case of the shortcust for brush size modifications, in my MAC Book Pro, CS4 accepted the "." and the "," as the newly introduced shortcuts, and rejected others that I had "suggested"

Model rotation about multiple axis

Can anyone tell me how I can limit the rotation of a model to
a specific angle without using camera rotation?
I do know how to limit the rotation when the model has only
been rotated in one axis (simple maths comparison of either x, y,
or z depending on which axis I've rotated the model about).
But, how do you limit rotation when the model has already
been rotated about 1 or 2 of the other axes given that x, y, and z
keep changing their values and axisAngle doesn't always give
appropriate values?

Using parent/childs is one way to work around relative
rotation problems. Parent the model you are trying to limit
rotation on to a dummy model (or group). Keep the dummy at
rotation(0, 0, 0), and rotate the target model to its correct
orientation in your scene. Then monitor the dummy's rotation to
keep it within your limits.

Looks like this bug was fixed as of yesterday - I'd like to know
when there will be a patch available to users. I bought Flex 3 just
in the last few weeks, so it would be nice if I could get a free
patch. However, my main concern is how to do a workaround. I can't
deliver my application with this problem, and if the patch is not
available, I don't have an alternative. Is there a way to access
the selection rectangle object and set its rotation
explicitly?

I forgot to mention one point about copying shape layers into one shape layer: when you initially use the Shape Selection tool to select a shape for cutting, make sure the option for the Shape Selection tool is set to "Add to Selection".

Keyboard shortcut for "Clear" brush mode?

that the keyboard shortcut for CLEAR brush blending mode was shift+alt+R for windows. I tried it but I keep hearing that "DING ERROR" sound everytime I try. Most of the normal shortcuts work but that one and a few others dont for some reason.

Shortcut for action reset on every start of Photoshop CC

Hey there,
I have a problem I didn't have with Photoshop CS6 that now occured on CC since I just subscribed.
I had set a shortcut for a custom action in Photoshop CS6 which was F2. Since I wanted to use F2 for another function (i.e. renaming layers) in Photoshop, I had changed the action shortcut to F4 successfully when working with CS6. However, on Photoshop CC, each time I start the program the shortcut is reset to F2. I already tried saving my shortcuts, but I assume that doesn't include the ones for actions? I can 'solve' it by manually copying stuff from the CS6 presets folder - which is far from ideal since I then cannot change it to something else in future either (will stick to F4 then).
Anybody an idea what might cause this, or better: How to solve it?
I am using the Windows version of PS CC, being on Windows 8.1.

Ugh, I didn't intend this to turn into a Mac vs. PC contest. My only implication is this: Mac users might be forgiven for expecting that their preferences are saved right now, vs. PC users who expect settings to be saved after a successful run and exit of something - because that's how most things work on each of those two systems. Photoshop's philosophy is more PC-like in this case, even when run on a Mac.
But that's neither here nor there for helping solve Eno's problem.
Eno, if you add a new action set, does it still appear in the Actions panel after having closed and restarted Photoshop? I'm still trying to gauge whether you're having a general failure to save preferences, or just some odd failure having to do with key assignments.
The file your actions panel data is saved in on a Windows 8 system is here:

Do you see its Modification Date getting updated upon exiting Photoshop?
I'm wondering if somehow you have a permissions problem with that particular file.

Keyboard Shortcut for bullets (Command-Shift-L) no longer works

Hey Guys,
It seems so odd and I find it so irritating that I have been using this keyboard shortcut which is Command-Shift-L for bullets in Outlook, Notes and almost any word processing applications. All of a sudden this seems to have gone and now replaced by a Google Search. I tried researching a lot on the internet and found many articles which confirmed that this was indeed a keyboard shortcut but I couldnt find even one which could tell me what happened to it and how to make it work again. I've got so used to this shortcut because my work involves mainly around drafting emails and documents.
I have Macbook Pro Retina 13inch 2013 model & running Mac OSX 10.9.4 OS.
Now I did find one website link which told me how to disable the Safari trigger for this shortcut and I was successful in removing that shortcut. But I am stuck at the point where it's just blank. So now when I press these keys, nothing happens because no shortcut is set to it. I am moving in circles and would really appreciate if anyone can help.
P.S I've already gone through many links which say create paragraphs, this and blah blah but sorry I am not interested in that....Some links also say that Option + 8 key works for the bullets but that doesnt work for me either. However, I dont want that too. I would want the original shortcut which was there and would really appreciate if someone can tell me how to get it back or even configure it back to the way it was. Sorry for being rude but I am just frustrated with the long hours I have spent in fixing this silly issue and don't want the similar answers which I have already come across on the other links. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

There is no bullets option in Shortcuts. Defining shortcuts works by binding menu items in an application to a key combination. You have to find the name of a menu item in the application you are using.
For example in "Notes" is a menu "Format > Lists > Insert Bulleted List"
To bind it to the shortcut "⇧⌘L" open the Keyboard System Preferences > Shorttcuts tab and press "+" to add an application shortcut.
Type the name of the menu item "Insert Bulleted List" and enter the key combination.
This will work in "Notes", but you have to identify the names of menu items that will produce bullets in your other applications, if you want to add the shortcut for them.

How to enable keyboard shortcuts for configuration entry point?

In my process model, I have a configuration entry point sequence (sequence). I can able to select the corresponding entry from the menu bar ie. configure --> options (for eg). Now I need to have a keyboard shortcut for the same. In my case if I press (for eg) ctrl+w, the configuration entry point sequence must be called.
Note - I have to do this using .NET programmatically.
Is there any way I can incorporate this mechanism...?

Hello Arun,
At this time there is not anyway to customize the keyboard shortcut keys for menu items you add to the TestStand sequence editor. R&D is looking into implementing this in a future version of TestStand. I'll pass along your feedback to them, and let them know there are others interrested in this feature.

Are there any shortcuts for creating Value Object Classes?

Hi,
I'm using a Remote Object to connect to my server
(pyAMF/Django). I'm getting stuck with the creation of Value Object
Classes. It doesn't seem very DRY to have a class on my server
representing the data model and then have to recreate that class
and all its properties in my Flex app.
Are there any shortcuts for creating client side VOs from
server side data?
I was thinking about declaring an empty VO class in Flex, and
then dynamically assigning/casting my Proxy object to that class.
It seems like that approach may cause problems for the Flex
compiler though.
Any hints?

Change keyboard shortcut for "Find"

The default keyboard shortcut for the "find" function is Cmd-Opt-F. As you know, for virtually every other Mac app (if not all Mac apps), the shortcut for "find" is simply Cmd-F. In iTunes, though, Cmd-F turns the visualiser full-screen mode on and off. I never use the visualiser, and decades of Mac use have hard-wired my fingers for Cmd-F to be "find." I know that there is a method in System Preferences by which to change or assign associations between drop-down menu items and keyboard shortcuts, but there is no menu item for "find" so that method seems like a dead end.
Is there a way to replace Cmd-Opt-F with Cmd-F in iTunes?

i just know it can be done. i have had no problem
opening .plist files in vi-make sure you are in root
account for system files.
They (the .plist files) don't seem particularly readable in vi -- they seem to contain a lot of binary content. In earlier versions of OS X they were plain text and easily edited.....

It's a more "traditional" Unix, meaning that it's very powerful, fairly bulletproof, very configurable, and pretty obtuse if you're not familiar with it. I like my Mac better!

Now that I know you are talking about Cloud (not the focus of this forum -- a forum on Acrobat that does provide the icons and the reason for wondering what you were talking about). The Creative Cloud that I have does include the icons on the desktop. However, I am not familiar with the cloud service other than CC. If it is some other product, then exactly what is the product name. As far as CC, I get the icons on my desktop, so I am not sure what your problem might be.
If you did not like the tone, I am sorry, But I honestly had no clue what you were talking about because you only said that Adobe icons were not coming up. You provided no information on the product or operating system that are fundamental to providing help. Adobe (the company name) has about 150 forums dealing with different products probably numbering close to 100. So saying no Adobe icons was meaningless to me and thus the question. I was trying to get information to help you. If you took it as an insult, I am sorry.

Standard shortcut for "flow" does not work anymore

Hi there :-)
The standard shortcut for setting the flow of a brush or stamp does not work anymore. When using shift + 0-9 nothing happens. It works correctly for the opacity when I use 0-9.
When I turn on the airbrush-mode it's not switching the commands entirely... Flow is still not settable with 0-9 but opacity cannot be set either by shift + 0-9.
I can access the opacity by hitting "enter" and then use the tab to switch to the flow but that's not what I wanna do.
Can anyone help my to find out what happened to These commands? The Shift-keys work fine btw... I'm using them for other commands (in and outside of PS) .
If anyone knows how to change these standard hotkeys let me know as well.

Martin, it's possible to create shortcuts for any menu item in any OS X application. You do this by going to the System Preferences, in the Keyboard and Mouse pane, under the Keyboard Shortcuts tab. See this posting for more details.
This is an extremely powerful feature of OS X, and it is unfortunate that is it not better known.
