Shortcut for "delete image" is now "delete thousands of images" -- Why?
So I've been using since v1 and since then [CMD] + [Delete] has been the shortcut to delete the selected image. Suddenly upon finally upgrading from v2 to v3 I hit [CMD] + [Delete] as I've done many, many times before only to have it, without prompt, delete my ENTIRE PROJECT. It's a large project... several thousand images... all seemingly wiped out.
This leaves me with a number of questions. The least of which... WHY?! Why change something so basic and of little consequence into something with potentially catastrophic results? My next question, are my files really gone? They don't seem to have been moved to the trash and I can't seem to locate them by browsing through the library.
Any thoughts or suggestions? "Vault" excluded, please.
Hmm… I just tested this (on a test project obviously!!) and CMD-Delete has the following behavour:
• If a picture is highlighted the picture moves to the trash.
• if a project is highlighted the project moves to the trash.
In both cases I can hit Undo and revert without a hitch. i can also go to the Trash and bring back the items (picture OR project).
So on my end nothing has changed from prior versions except for the - welcome - addition of the Trash which provides an extra layer of security. Something's not right…
Try relaunching Aperture while holding the command-option keys and repairing the database.

I updated the software as required for the iPad and now I can no longer delete photos from the app in the photo section. I had been able to do it but now there are multiple photos of the same pic and I can't remove any of them. What is wrong?
Photos in the Camera Roll or in the Imported Images album can be deleted within the album. One the album and select the icon with the curved arrow. Then tap on the photo or photos you want to delete to select them. Finally tap delete.
For photos in other albums you delete them by moving them out of the albums they were in on your computer. If you're using a Mac open iTunes on your Mac and move the photos out of the album then go through the sync process with your iPad.
If you're using a pc then move the photos out of the folders they are in and go through the sync process. -
my mac space was full, and i noticed that i had 10,000 images, so i deleted all of my images and emptied the trash, now i they don't appear on iphoto or anywhere, is there anyway i could get all of those images back so i can then store them in a device?
yes, its the macbook air and mac OS X 10.7.4, not sure how that goes, about the time machine and time capsule, i only started using it today, when they were already deleted, also read at the support and help of iphoto, that if you delete your images from the picture folder that the images will be corrupted permanently, does this mean there there is no actual way of getting them back?

Change shortcut for delete word forward
Two questions about using Preferences > keyboard > shortcuts to rename an existing shortcut (for textedit and pages):
1) How do I know the "Menu Title" for an existing shortcut? Is there a reliable listing of shortcut titles?
2) How do I enter "ctrl+delete" into the "Keyboard Shortcut" field? Right now it is just ignoring it.

Assign your own shortcuts to menu commands in any app or in the Finder
Assign your own keyboard shortcuts to menu commands in any OS X app, including Finder. This might be useful if a global shortcut, which works the same with most apps, conflicts with a specific app shortcut. In this case, you could assign a different key combination.
You can only create keyboard shortcuts for existing menu commands. You cannot create keyboard shortcuts for general purpose tasks such as opening an app.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Keyboard.
Click Shortcuts, select App Shortcuts, then click Add (+).
Click the Application pop-up menu, then choose an app. If you want to set the same key combination for a menu command that appears in many apps, choose All Applications.
If the app you want to select doesn’t appear in the list, choose Other, then locate it using the Open dialog. Some apps may not allow you to set keyboard shortcuts.
Type the menu command for which you want to set a keyboard shortcut in the Menu Title field.
You must type the command exactly as it appears in the Application menu, including ellipses and any other punctuation. To type an ellipsis, use three periods without spaces.
Click in the Keyboard Shortcut field, press the key combination that you want to assign to the menu command, then click Add (+).
You can’t use each type of key (for example, a letter key) more than once in a key combination.
Quit and restart any apps you’re using for the new keyboard shortcut to take effect.
If you assign a keyboard shortcut that already exists for another command or another app, your new shortcut won’t work. Find the menu command that’s using it, then reassign the keyboard shortcut for that item.
To remove a customized shortcut, click Delete (–).

It’s possible to have keyboard shortcuts for one app that conflict with another app. For example, Command-Space bar opens the Spotlight menu, but in another app it might be used for switching between different input methods.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Keyboard.
Click Shortcuts. A yellow warning triangle appears next to conflicting keyboard shortcuts. Click the shortcut, then change it.

No Delete button: No shortcut for emptying cache?

I'm trying to find an easy way for my customers to clear their cache.
Now, what to do with Macbooks etc without a true Delete (Del) button? Since the usual shortcut for clearing the cache involves the Del button (all browsers), must I instruct all my users to go through all the menues?
Or is there another shortcut available?Thanks for that, yea, that gave me a new option, - but then this thread is evidence that its placement is not directed at the Safari-newbs, and that's my problem, as a supporter.
In this case, I will still direct users to use Safari -> Reset Safari... -> Remove all data from websites, because it's simpler than having to first direct them to, and then convince them to enable 'developer tools'.
I think that if developers were more in touch with supporters, they wouldn't hide an essential troubleshooting shortcut like that!
I'm happy a kind of consistency has developed among various browser developers (crt+shift+delete), but then, Apple removed the Del button, which kinda ruins it for the non-Safari users, and hid their own unique cache-shortcut for developers only.
Call me professionally damaged, but this has become a per peeve, please developers, find a common solution for this. -
i just got the iphone 4 and my husband already had on. we share an itunes account and i signed up for i cloud and now ALL of my husbands contacts are on my phone ... so I started to delete them (because i thought it would just be off my phone) and he called screaming ..." please stop deleting ... they are coming off my phone!" so two things ... how can i get the contacts back ( i got up to j) AND is there a way to get them off just my phone
Unfortunately there's no way to get back the contacts you deleted unless he backed them up somewhere else. He'll just have to recreate them. This happened because you are both syncing contacts with a shared iCloud account. When you do this, the synced data is merged and any actions you take on one phone (such as deleting contacts) is also reflected on the other. To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores). To do this, on your phone go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone. After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The other phone will not be effected by this.) Next, set up a new iCloud account on your phone using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload your data to your new account. At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the unwanted data (such as deleting the your husband's contacts from your account, and vice versa). These changes will be reflected on each phone. When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them. -
I've been using numbers for iPad and I accidentally deleted a column. And the auto-save feature saved that and now I can't undo it. Does iCloud storage have backups of saved files from like 10 minutes ago? I have numbers synced to iCloud.
I tried to undo it but the app crashed.
I am hoping there's like a previously saved version of my file in iCloud somewhere.No, iOS does not do short term incremental back ups to iCloud such as you get with Time Capsule.It backs up when you do soo manually, or if set properly, when the device is plugged in and connected to WiFi. It will not have saved your changes as of 10 minutes prior.

In Gmail I can hit the "D" key to delete saves much time.
In Apple Mail I have to hit the delete key which is on the right side of the keyboard and my right hand is busy with the track pad scrolling. Some one is trying to change my password. Last week i had my icloud accessed and my contacts were deleted. And now i have had an email apparently from myself asking for my apple id password because i change the password when my contacts were wiped. i had my last phone stolen i reported it and blocked the phone if they have managed to access it then how are they getting my details. i am not very happy with this as the icloud didn't back up my photos last time there are pics and videos on that phone of my child. if i cloud did back them up they why haven't they appeared on i cloud. My new phone has also backed up to photo stream and they aren't showing up on icloud either. I am not happy with the security of your system if it is this easy for some one to access all my details on a stolen phone!!!!
You need a new Apple ID to create a new iCloud. After you create an Apple ID, go to System Preferences > iCloud and set up iCloud with it

The APAgent monitors your AirPort base station and informs you if there are things like firmware updates available. This utility relies on Bonjour, but is not required for base station operation. However, Bonjour makes it easier for your PC to "find" the base station via the AirPort Utility and I would recommend that you keep it installed. If you don't want the APAgent, you can just use the Apple Updater utility (that was also installed when the AirPort Utility was installed) to remove it.

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

When you saw this dialog box, did you choose "Erase and Sync"?
If you did, your iPhone was erased, then your iTunes Library was transferred to it. If your iTunes Library was empty, your iPhone will be also.
Your previously purchased music, apps, books, and videos are still yours. You just have to download them again.

If you mean you accidentally removed the icon for iMovie from the Dock (the array of icons at the bottom of the window), you can add it back easily.
Open the Applications folder (if you open it from the Dock you may then need to click the Open in Finder icon), locate the iMovie program.
Drag the icon for iMovie down to the Dock, somewhere between the icon for Finder and the dashed line toward the right.
Wait for the icons at that spot to move aside, then drop it in.
