Shortcut in Mail to check one account?

I have 3 email accounts, one of them is only accessible while on a VPN. I have that one set to not be included when Mail automatically checks for email. I'm wondering if there's a shortcut to manually check one or both of those other, non-VPN, accounts. For instance, in previous mail clients, I could click-n-hold Get Mail and get a drop down, or right click the mailbox, but in Mail I've only found the slightly cumbersome use of menus (Mailbox/Get New Mail/specific account.) Can't find a way to add that to the toolbar. Anyone know a trick I'm missing? Thanks.

You can do pretty much the same thing in Mail. If you right/control click the mailbox in question, you'll see an option to +'Get new mail from "xxx"+.

  • Mail only checking one account and I have three. Since Apple sec update

Help. My Mail is only checking one out of three accounts for new mail.
I have gone through the settings and nothing is obvious as to why.
It has happened since Apple recent security update which may or may not be a coincidence.
I cant see it being the ISP who provide the emails. it just doesnt seem to be checking.
    Any ideas please?

Could it be that those accounts are in an "offline" state? Is the Mailbox > Go Online command enabled or disabled for them?
Go to Preferences > Accounts > Advanced. Is Include when automatically checking for new mail checked or unchecked?
Does manually checking for mail work?

  • Mail program : checking multiple accounts?

Other than forwarding accounts on the web server, is there a way to ask the Mail program to check multiple accounts? I thought I had it setup correctly by setting the preferences as the following (but it does not work).
Under "accounts" I've set up all email address address domains that I want to have arrive in my inbox, and I separated each individual address with a comma, followed by a space.
    Thanks,

Couldn't really tell from your post, but, do you have
multiple accounts setup for each of your email
address' with specific incoming mail servers and l/p
for all or did you setup one account in hopes all
    addresses would be synced?
    jahaun
They all are variations of the same domain name... eg. studio@..., glen@..., other employees@...
So they exist at the same domain web server with one I.P address.

  • Mail auto redirecting one account to another; Emails older than 1/5/14 missing from Inbox

On our MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, using Apple's Mail 4.6 (1035),  my wife's Mail account began experiencing two problems, one starting about 2 weeks ago, the other just recently noticed.
She uses IMAP to download her primary account from DirectNIC.   This account syncs the Inbox with her iPad Air.  She also POPS mail from a secondary account from WebHostingHub.
    1.  About 2 weeks ago, emails received by her primary account starting being automatically copied and redirected to her secondary account.  Thus, when she uses the "Get Mail" button (or her mail is automatically downloaded), she ends up with two copies of every email in her Inbox, and the ones in her primary account are automatically marked as read.
She does not have any rules in Mail, nor does she have any email forwarders in her DirectNIC or POP settings.  We can not figure out how this automatic forwarding started or how to turn it off.  We have rebuilt the Inboxes for both her primary and secondary accounts.
    2. Yesterday my wife noticed that her Inbox for her primary account is missing emails she had in there that were older than January 5, 2014.  All older emails that had previously been in her Inbox are now gone, and we can not find where they went.  We have not made any changes to her Inbox's behavior, and she was barely using even 1% of her quota on her primary email's IMAP server at DirectNIC.
Any clues about how to fix any of the above would be welcome.
    Charlie

I called my ISP and sorted out the problem.  Something changed in the behavior of the POP account so that it started causing both of the problems I described in my original post.  That POP account was using the same email server info as the primary account, and was removing emails after a week, as well as looping back emails sent to the primary account, creating the duplicates.
I deleted the POP account, which fixed both problems.  She forwards emails sent to her secondary account to her primary account.  I then used  the directions at http://support.apple.com/kb/ta23485 so that she can send emails from the email address she is using as her secondary account.

  • Mail "read" in one account marks identical mail in another account as "read" also

    Yosemite 10.10.1, iMac
I just upgraded to Yosemite and now when I read an email in my Mac Mail account, the identical email in another totally separate Mac Mail account automatically gets "marked as read". This is such an enormous problem that I hope there is a team working on it 24/7 until it's fixed. At the very least someone from Apple should weigh in here and give an update on a fix in progress or at least acknowledge that the problem is more than just an oversight on the user's part, if that is the case.
Apple (or anyone), please please assist me in solving this problem so I don't have a Mac Mail client that sabotages communication.
    Thank you, Peter

    Hi Sergey,
    Thanks for the reply.
Both I and my wife have separate accounts with different names, set up in the Mac Mail client through one computer. (Both mail accounts are with Comcast.) As an example of the problem, our children's school will often "CC" the same identical email out to all parents, my wife and I included. When I click on the email and it opens, the email count (number) next to my account name drops by one and the email is now marked "As Read". That's fine. BUT at the same time that I do this (click on the email in my account to open it), I see my wife's email count drop by one also, and when I open her account mailbox, sure enough the identical email is unbolded (i.e. marked "As Read"), but it has not been opened directly.
I've done a Google search and can see that others have this problem; but nobody has posted a fix. It's a debilitating problem if you receive lots of indexical emails, which we do.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks, Peter

  • No SENT MAIL folder in one account

I have two e-mail accounts on my iPhone, just as I have on my computer. However while one account shows a complete list of preferences and folders (incoming, sent, drafts ,spam, starred, travel, etc) the other account only show "incoming, drafts and trash". I particularly want to see "sent" mail from both accounts. I don't see a resolution when I go to my mailpreferences settings in my iphone. (iPhone 3G)

    Copied from your original post.
However while one account shows a complete list of preferences and folders (incoming, sent, drafts ,spam, starred, travel, etc)
The only mailboxes available with a POP account when accessing a POP account with the iPhone's mail client is the account's Inbox, Drafts, Sent, and Trash mailboxes. The same applies when accessing a POP account with an email client on your computer except for the account's Junk mailbox since the email client on your computer includes a junk mail filter, which the iPhone's mail client does not include.
The only way you can have a spam, starred, travel, etc. mailboxes is with an IMAP account.
Who are the email account providers for the accounts? With a "starred" mailbox, this account sounds like a Gmail account. If so and you created the account with the iPhone's Mail client using the Gmail account preset, the account was created as an IMAP account. If you have the option to store the account's Sent mailbox on the server or locally on your iPhone with the account preferences, the account is an IMAP account.
If you have successfully sent messages with the other email account but no Sent mailbox is available, try deleting and recreating the account on your iPhone.

  • Move Verizon E-mail address from one account to another

I am wondering if it is possible to move an email address from one account to another. I am the primary account holder for a couple of email addresses - one of which is my mother-in-law. I am discontinuing my Verizon account but she has since started a Verizon FIOS account at her house. I'd like to move her email address to her account so the switch for her is painless (or as painless as possible). Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Yes and No. As of right now they will not move email address unless the name on both accounts match exactly.

  • Apple mail sent with one account but sends with a different account

I have 5 email accounts in Apple mail.  I have what I call my main one and many times when I take care to send FROM that one, it will land in the recipient's mailbox sent by a different account.  I have tested it different ways even going so far as BCC myself, checking to make sure it is sent out with correct one and it still ends up sending it with the secondary/wrong account.  Any ideas?  I cannot delete the secondary account as I sometimes need to use it for work.  thank you in advance.

I have mine set to 993... but I did not set it... all i did was set up gmail, and it worked automaticlly. That might have been the port number in Lion... i dont know.

  • Mail sent from one account gets replies to another account

I have several email accounts under Apple Mail.  One is my Gmail account, and another is my school account that uses the Gmail system (but has a different @address).
Every time I send an email from my school account, I get replies to my Gmail account.  Any idea why?

  • I have multi email accounts in TB but all mail goes to one account...Why?

I have multiple email accounts in TB on my MAC but all the email goes to the first account listed.
These are not my real account names but here is an Example:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
All email goes to the [email protected] account in TB. I want the emails that are address to [email protected] to populate in the [email protected] inbox. I want the emails that are address to [email protected] to populate in the [email protected] inbox.
    How do I fix this?

Sounds like you have selected them to use a different Inbox or maybe a Global Account (Local Folders.)
    check this:
Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings for the mail account
    or
3bar menu icon > Options > Account Settings > Server Settings
    click on 'Advanced' button
Select: 'Inbox for this servers account'
    click on OK
You would need to do this for each mail account.

  • E-mail sent from one account shows different e-mail  to recipient

I am having a problem with my e-mail. I have a home account and a business account through mail. When I go to send a business account mail, the addressee will see the from address as being my home e-mail. I have gone through my preferences but no luck. I would like to keep my home and work e-mails separate but am having a problem with this.

So does your ISP use IMAP or POP - that may have something to do with it? Mine is strictly POP (the last time I checked with them).
Edit: and, while in your business account (under Accounts), have you checked the correct (business) account under Preferences -> Composing -> Send new messages from?

  • Moving mail messages from one account to another sends to inbox, not IMAP folder

I have many email addresses (setup via Google apps) but I generally store all of my emails on one standard Gmail IMAP account. It makes looking for old emails easier IMO. Here's what my workflow should look like:
I get an email on account B, reply with account B, then file that email into account B's folder on account A.
Unfortunately, that workflow has been broken for a very long time now and 10.8.3 didn't fix it.
Here's what that workflow actually does:
I get an email on account B, reply with account B, then file that email into account B's folder on account A, the email ends up in the inbox of account A, I then have to drag the email into account B's folder on account A *again* so it actually sticks.  The tricky part is that Mail seems to have the message in two locations until I
Instead of moving the email directly to account B's folder on account A, it goes to the inbox of account A. I'm really tired of having to move a message twice just to get it into the right folder. I was hoping 10.8.3 would fix this but it's still broken. I believe I started noticing the issue in Lion.
I only use Gmail IMAP accounts if that helps. I've re-installed from scratch to eliminate any user account / upgrade issues that could've caused the problem.
I would really appreciate any suggestions or confirmation of the problem from other people so I can file another bug report (did that already but they never understood the issue).

    Hi,
Locate your Mail folder via this path - Home/Library/Mail and copy it to the same location on the second machine - when you get the message about overwriting say yes. (make sure Mail is not open on either machine)
I f you're nervous about overwriting the corrupted copy - simply move it out of Home/Library first - say to the desktop. When you copy the new Mail folder over, and you know it works - delete the desktop copy.

  • Icloud mail out on one account for two days in texas

Does anyone know what is wrong with icloud mail? My account is fine, husband's has not worked for two days.  We are in the Dallas, Texas area.

This is a second day of no icloud service. Completely unacceptable! I've been an apple guy since 1985 but this is going to send me away. They want the iphone and ipad to be business tools - then it has to have back up systems in place. These are not toys to us! They had better not brag about icloud services at the announcement today - and they had better address the problem up front and admit to it at the event! It's all over the world and must be far more than the 1%. If that's the case - then they're just lying about the extent - which is really not cool.
    Fix it now!

  • Mail is still checking deleted account

occasionally I'll get an alert asking for the password for an email account which is no longer installed (it doesn't appear under the preferences > accounts window). Any idea why Mail keeps checking this account??

No, but if you don't mind writing down all of your valid account information (imap/pop and smtp server names, port numbers, SSL or not, etc.), you could quit Mail, temporarily drag your /Users/marckula/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist onto your Desktop (this is for just in case you don't like what you've done, you can restore your previous Mail configuration by just dragging it back), restart Mail, and recreate your desired account preferences from your handwritten notes by going through the (first-launch) Mail setup "Wizard." I would think that that would get rid of attempted logins to phantom mail accounts.
Or, you could try double-clicking on the /Users/marckula/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist to edit it if you're comfortable with using the Property List Editor (I think you might have had to have installed the Developer package first) or using "pico" inside Terminal.app to edit it if you're comfortable with using Terminal.app. I'd drag a backup copy of it to the desktop before editing it, though.

  • Mutliple accounts: download new mails only for certain accounts

i have setup mail to have a few accounts. i can disable accounts in the preferences, but then they are not any longer shown in mail.
when i now open mail, all new mails from all accounts are retrieved. how can i have mail only download new mail for one (certain) account. maybe to trigger the download by hand? or have mail configured to download mails automatically for one account and manually for the others.
it is very anoying, when opening mail, that all accounts are processed. this takes time especially on a weak and slow internet connection, it also costs download traffic. i want to manually trigger the "get new mails" for accounts.
    markus

thats not the point: i don't want the automatic push in the backround. setting "manual" only means: that the mails are retrieved when mail.app is openend. this is not what i want. i want to open mail.app and then choose which mails/accounts being retrieved!
