Shortcut key in Safari

Hello all
Question: When in Safari > Reset Safari option > A pop-up dialog box appears with two buttons at the bottom of the screen either CANCEL or RESET
My question is, CANCEL is highlighted Blue by default. Is there a shortcut key to select RESET without having to move the mouse cursor over? I tried TAB or moving the right arrow key over but it doesn't do anything.

Probably not. It's designed that way so that the user does not unintentionally reset Safari. Cancel is the default choice, and you have to purposefully click on the Reset button.

Unable to operate tab shortcut keys for safari

I am using Safari 4.0.2.
All is working good except the *Tab shortcuts for safari*.
Problem: Tab shortcuts does not work every time. It works very less time.
*What I did to solve the problems?*
1) Re-Checked the necessary shortcuts in the preferences pane but nothing happened.
2) Re-installed Safari
3) Also did reset to Safari.
I did not understand what has happened to it.
Please help me with it.

A corrupt preference file may be causing the Command T problem, or perhaps you created a keyboard shortcut for Command/T.
If you didn't alter the keyboard shortcuts, trash the preference file.
Via the Finder: Your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. Move the com.apple.safari.plist file to the trash, then restart Safari. This resets Safari preferences to default values. Restore any custom settings in either the Preference panel, Edit Menu (spelling), or View Menu. Also, restore any custom icons on the toolbar via the Customize Toolbar option.
Also, the reset adds Apple default bookmarks to your Bookmarks collection (command/option/B keys). Delete any you don't want.

Shortcut keys in windows Safari

I've searched many topics and cant seem to find a Direct way, to change the shortcut keys in Safari for windows... I've tried searching disabling specific keys I've tried searching hot keys, shortcuts, but nothing... or the answers that are out there, are for mac saying go into terminal or something..
I have a WINDOWS computer, and am using a file to look into the .plist files that come with Safari. I am unable to find any hot key or shortcut adjustment options.

I am looking for this as well. I am currently dealing with Safari taking me back a page every time I hit my delete key, minus the times I am in a form field. I interact with a lot of Flash content and it seems that even if I am working with text when doing that I am taken back a page. I'd be very grateful for a fix to this if anyone knows how to edit this preference on Windows.

Open the General tab of the Safari preferences and correct the home page; the default page is this one. If it has become set to a folder on an FTP server or a local drive, that request will be sent to the Finder. (28252)

Message shortcut key does not work in Safari

Hi there,
I've a shortcut key specified for sending links through Message app while I'm in Safari. (Command + Ctrl + M).
It appears in the system preferences and I can even see the shortcut symbol in Safari but it simply doesn't work. I has worked randomly for sometime but does not work anymore. (Changing the keyboard combination hasn't helped either)
Any idea ?

Try shutting down the iMac. Disconnect the keyboard. Wait about 5 minutes. Reconnect the keyboard and restart the iMac. See if the Return key works now.
If not, since it's so new, take the keyboard back for a replacement.

Login Screen, custom shortcut keys possible?

I'd like to create a keyboard shortcut to "lock the screen" (login screen). I read through the helpfile and it's not clear this is possible.
I'd like, for example to do Apple-L to get that to work.
Is this possible?

Based on your recommendation, I did some research on QuicKeys and also found another, similar program iKey (http://www.scriptsoftware.com/ikey/). I downloaded trial versions of both, and found iKey easier to manage. Plus it was cheaper ($30 versus 79.95). I was able to assign shortcut keys using modifiers (alt, cmd, ctl) and the keys that Apple won't let you assign via Keyboard preferences (home, end, forward delete, arrows). I even set up some customized menus or more complex actions (automate) with shortcut key triggers (e.g., creating a footer and inserting a file name and path in a word document with two keystrokes; opening itunes finding a radio station and begin streaming it live with two keystrokes). I'm sure that some of this can be done with automater or applescripts, but since I'm new to apple, I'm happy to start with this.
iKey does have one annoying feature that I discovered -- you can set keyboard shortcuts to operate in different contexts (e.g., Finder front, Safari not running) but you cannot use the same keyboard shortcut to launch different actions in mutually exclusive contexts.
By the way, I called Apple support about this question before I started playing with either of the programs. The person I talked to made a special call over to the OS X division and confirmed that forward delete cannot be assigned in user-defined keyboard shortcuts -- "yet." No one was clear if this capability might be developed in the future.

Disabling Access Keys in Safari

Access keys in Safari tend to interfere with the Emacs-style shortcuts used in text-boxes. So, it can happen that while your editing you accidentally press some access key, thus losing all your changes.
So is there a way to at least disable access keys while in a text-input focus? Or to assign a different key, instead of ctrl to it? Or something more complex?

How to Open a Specific Folder in the Finder via Shortcut Key

I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere, so sorry for not finding it...
Is it possible to assign a shortcut key to open a specific folder with Automator or AppleScript? There are 4-5 commonly used folders buried 10-11 levels deep on a server and I'd love to have a shortcut key to open those particular folders in the Finder.

QuickKeys may work, or you can look on http://www.versiontracker.com or http://www.macupdate.com for other alternatives.
Another option is to create aliases to those folders and store the aliases in a local folder which you can place on your Dock, the Finder window sidebar or toolbar.

ok, I found the keyboard viewer, it only shows the traditional symbol 'return'. something like a sideway u-turn continued with the arrow under. This is the Canadian or US keyboard.

I don't believe there is a keyboard shortcut available for that feature. But I believe if you click-select the topmost chapter, and Shift-click the bottommost chapter, it should select them all.
Other shortcuts for books can be set up in Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts in the Panel Menus product area. There are no default shortcuts in that area.

Satellite U400-12P - Multimedia Shortcut Keys illuminates 24-7

Hey everyone,
I am new to this forum and I hope someone will solve the problem I have.
I own a Toshiba Satellite U400-12P (been a year now). Past few days I have noticed that the multimedia keys (PLAY/PAUSE/FFD/RWD/) isn't functiong (doesnt respond to my touch) + multimedia keys illuminates 24-7;that is even if the computer is switched off the shortcut keys are shining brightly. I have no clue why this is taking place.
If someone has a solution to this. I shall greatly appreciate it.

How to grab global shortcuts keys in a java application?

Does anybody know if it's possible to get the focus to a Java application, when it is not selected, using a keyboard shortcut key?
I've written a java application that provides shortcuts keys (like CTRL-M...) for accessing to some operations. For using those keys combinations my application has to be focused between the other opened applications on the operating system (Linux 7.3), as it should be in a normal behaviour... but, I would need that the operation associated to the shortcut key could be executed even if another application had the focus...
Is it possible? How this could be done?

There are multiple ways to do similar things. One, built into the system, is to use text replacement. See:

There are other programs you can buy that can do the job in different ways, such as TextExpander. You could also just create a clipping file by dragging your e-mail address to somewhere like the desktop, and then you can simply drag that file to wherever you like to insert your e-mail address there.

Shortcut Key in JInternalFrame

I have an application that has multiple JInternalFrames displayed within split panes. I am trying to set shortcut keys to cycle through the visible JInternalFrame. I have a Menu Item oCycleWindows, on which I called setAccelerator() with Ctrl+Shift+M. In th emenu handler for this item, I have defined a function that checks the current focussed internal frame, and accordingly picks the next one to get the focus.
My problem is as follows: on clicking Ctrl+Shift+M, I am able to see that the next window has focus (the title bar color changes), but when I use the up/down keys to navigate within the newly focussed window, actually the navigation happens in the previous window....
I have a tree view at the left, and two views at the right, and going from the tree view to any of the right views sometimes works correctly, sometimes doesn't (in fact i believe this happens every alternate time I shift to the non-tree view). Here, I have tables in the right views, and I try to select different rows using up/down keys once the right view has the focus, but the navigation occurs in the Tree view, with previous/next node getting selected instead!
The funniest part is, the problem isn't there if the shortcut defined is 'F6', but for any other shortcut (F12, F11, Ctrl+M, Ctrl+Shift+M, Ctrl+K, CTrl+Shift+K etc.) this problem is seen.
Does anyone have ANY idea why this happens? I tried to look up the bugs DB, but couldn't find anything specific to this...
