Shortcut key to move app to other monitor?

Hi all,
I have two 24" Dell 2405WFP monitors attached to my Mac Pro. I have one monitor rotated 90 degrees so it is in portrait mode. I have about 5,000 photos that I took in Alaska. A lot of them are taken with the aspect ration of 16:9. Some of these 16:9 photos were taken in portrait mode.
I am trying out a program called JustLooking to view the photos. So far, I like it. However, to best view the 9:16 portrait images I have to drag the app to the other monitor which is in portrait mode. Is there a keyboard shortcut that will tel an ap or window to switch/move to the other monitor?
It would be nice if I could do this with a simple keystroke. Any info will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steven

Not that I'm aware of.

  • Shortcut key to move the playhead to an in-point on the timeline?

Hi just made the switch from FCP 7. Is there a shortcut key to move the playhead to an inpoint on the timeline? In FCP it is the right arrow.
Tiny little problem but makes all the difference in terms of speeding up the edit.
    Thanks

Here's a full list of the ones that come with the program. You can customize many of them as you wist also ... instructions at the bottom of the page.

  • HT4614 How can I define shortcut keys to run apps, files and folders, OS X?

    Hi
It could make work so fast by using shortcut keys
For example using "option + command + Control+P" to go to "picture" folder.
but cant do it in Mountain Lion
is there any way to do that?
    Thank you!
    Safa

To define keyboard shortcuts use the keyboard Preferences > Shortcuts panel in the Preferences.
Create an Automatotor service, to open the folder you want,
Install that service in your User Library "Services" folder (for example named "OpenPicturesFolder)
Then bind that service to the keycombination you want.
A simple service to open the "Pictures" folder could look like this:
First, an action "Get Specified Finder Items" to select the "Pictures" folder,
Then "Open Finder Items" to open that folder.
You do not need to create a service, if there are already menu commands that do what yu want. Then simply bind the menu command to the key combination.
    Good Luck

  • Is it possible to use shortcut keys in VC apps???

I'm really struggling to understand whether or not it is possible to use shortcut keys (via keyboard) instead of the mouse (Click on an action button) for user actions to be submitted within a Visual Composer model I have created. I'd apprecaite your help on this. Thanks in advance

    Hi,
there are no shortcut keys available in Visual Composer. You can not define an event onkey... as you may know from other development environments like .NET and so on. But I think this is ok, because VC is a tool for BPX. It should be simple for BPX, because they aren't developers. When I think about Web Dynpro there are also no shortcut available only onEnter e.g. for a input field. So when you need shortcuts I think you have to use another environment as I mentioned like .NET.
I think this isn't the answer you wanted to hear, but I'm sorry this isn't possible.
    Best Regards,

  • [SOLVED] gnome: how to move window to other monitor with hotkey?

now if I understand right gnome does not support a hotkey or option to move a window to another monitor by default (eg. after having been installed with
    pacman -S gnome
so I think the solution is to use an alternate window manager (I think the default is metacity) so my question is which window manager should I use that has this feature (criteria are relatively lightweight, stable and easily set up)? also can anyone point me to instructions on how to install a non-standard window manager with a desktop environment?
thanks in advance and sorry for the newbie question.

I don't use gnome, but if you extend the desktop, don't you just have to move the window out of the view of the one screen to the other?
I'm using i3, a tiling window manager. it's very lightweight and easy to setup. just install the whole group "i3" together with the package "dmenu", edit ~/.xinitrc to run "exec i3" and start it using the startx command
you can use the arander to configure how the screens are aranged.
in i3 you can move a whole "desktop" to another screen, or just move programms to other "desktops", just read the manual on their website

  • Is there a Shortcut key to move a window with the cursor?

After Yosemite it seems that the area at the top of windows shrunk and I have to look for a vacant spot to grab the window and move it around the desktop.  Is there a short cut key that you can enter and move a window using the cursor from wherever the cursor is on a window?

Sorry, no. Only way to move the window is to place the cursor between the address box and icons on the left or right of the address box and grab.
    Best.

Good luck. Using AppleScript is relatively easy. Check out the scripts in /Library/Scripts/ and Apple's site: http://www.apple.com/applescript/features/

  • How do you change the shortcut keys for Firefox in Welsh For Mac?

I'm using Firefox in Welsh on Mac (asking in English to hopefully get more answers), and every time I try to do the shortcut for copy (cmd+C), it hides the window (since Hide in Welsh is Cuddio, the shorcut for that is now Cmd+C). I usually forget this, and proceed with using the shortcut for copy only to anger myself when I realise that I've hidden the window.
My question is, how do you change the shortcut keys on Firefox so then I can change the Hide shortcut and give Copy the cmd+C shortcut? I'm also using OpenOffice.org in Welsh, and they are using cmd+C for copy and cmd+H for Hide.
Is there any way that I could do this myself? Its rather annoying for me, and its rather weird to use Cmd+X for Cutting text instead of copying.
    Thanks.

This could be worth a bug. It shouldn't happen that some shortcut keys get (re)used for other actions and Cmd + C should be considered as one of them.
You can try to make the change in this file: cy.jar/locale/browser/baseMenuOverlay.dtd
    <pre><nowiki><!ENTITY hideThisAppCmdMac.label "Cuddio &brandShortName;">
    <!ENTITY hideThisAppCmdMac.commandkey "C"></nowiki></pre>
    English language pack: en-GB.jar/locale/browser/baseMenuOverlay.dtd
    <pre><nowiki><!ENTITY hideThisAppCmdMac.label "Hide &brandShortName;">
    <!ENTITY hideThisAppCmdMac.commandkey "H"></nowiki></pre>
You can find the file cy.jar in the chrome folder in the Firefox application folder.<br />
The file cy.jar is a ZIP archive, so you need a program that can open such an archive and edit the file baseMenuOverlay.dtd.
I'm not on a Mac, so can't do any testing in this matter. I just downloaded the Welsh (cy.xpi) language pack for Mac and had a look in it.

  • How do I move Adobe apps to another monitor in Mavericks?

Hi guys, sorry if I'm being obtuse, but since upgrading to Mavericks the one issue I can't seem to figure out is how to completely move my adobe apps across to another monitor.
The problem is now that apps like Illustrator CC, InDesign CC and the like- those with free floating palettes, seem to be stuck on my little 13.3 inch macbook screen unless I move each palette individually to the big screen, but then the menu bar remains on the little MBP screen. If I do anything to the workspace it all then snaps back to the little screen. In ML it seemed to treat the large screen as the primary display automatically and so this was never a problem.
I've let Adobe CC update everything, added mavericks updates, etc but still not having any luck. So far the only option i've found is to mirror the displays, which, honestly, defeats the purpose.
Is there anything I can do? This is a huge workflow issue for me because I do a lot of work on my macbook while connected to a 23" Samsung display via thunderbolt/DVI adapter. I love the size and weight of the smaller macbook but as a primary screen, 13.3 inches just isn't as comfortable to work on as 23 inches

I have this same problem. The other day I solved it using CfMcBlob's first solution, and I was very pleased. However, the problem is happening again with InDesign, but this time I can't try the same solution because "Displays have separate Spaces" is already unchecked.
Just to reiterate, I can drag my workspace window to my second monitor, but all of the tools and top menu stay over on my first monitor. I know that the "actual menu" has to stay on one monitor, but indesign has a top bar with several tools in it that I use all the time, and I'm having to go back and forth. When I first solved this problem, the entire window with the menu bar and tools would open on my other monitor.
Also, I do not want the second solution, because I still use many applications on my original monitor, and I don't want to lose having the "real" top menu here on the left.
    Thanks in advance!

Got the "apple firewire ntsc" choice to show up even if grayed out and "missing" under "audio/visual" menus by recreating choices in Easy Setup under "final cut pro" MENU thank GOODNESS because I was reading horror stories on here about this under another thread with someone trashing preferences, reinstalling and the works and still not getting it to show up...on my search now for an analog/digital converter up at b&h...find it odd that the s video connector wouldn't show the crt monitor when I put both displays through the 3870...I switched it back to see if it worked again when only the one dell monitor display was there and there it is again mirroring the screen display on my desktop...just can't be seen as an "external monitor" in fcp...couldn't find anything specific in the shane ross threads to this. I'm sad the program doesn't just see the s video connection though the 3870 though my computer does fine and will query up at b&h in regard to what might be affordable as far as a digital/analog converter. It's also weird in itself that when I put the two dell monitors on the one card my computer no longer could see the s video crt connection...makes no sense. Will report in later as to what I discover up at b&h as I'm sure there's a world of people out there using this sony crt monitor still even into the upgrades with computers and software so I imagine therein lies the solution. Thanks again and I'll report in as to what hardware might be suggested for me.

I ended up clearing my desktop of all but the icons for the PPTs and using a relevant picture for my wallpaper. Thanks for your answers though.

  • Mountain Lion Messages App - Shortcut Keys

Question refering to Messages on Mountain Lion
Is there a shortcut key to close conversations?
Is there the ability to disable confirmation dialogues when closing a conversation?.
    Thank you.

There is an answer, but it's because of some dumb wording by Apple here that you, I, and possibly others are confused..
When you first open Messages, the shortcut key to "Close Conversation" is cmd+backspace.  However, pressing that shortcut, Messages asks you if you want to delete the conversation and warns this cannot be undone.
Hey Apple, closing and deleting are not the same thing!
    Before
    SOLUTION
Go to preferences in Messages and check "Save history when conversations are closed."
    After
Now the cmd+backspace shortcut is revealed for what it really is: "Delete Conversation."
The real keyboard shortcut to "Close Conversation" is: shift+cmd+W
And no, it doesn't ask you to confirm.
    Cheers!
