Shortcut keys doesn't work on Satellite L755-18Z - Windows 7 64bit

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to start an application by pressing an assigned shortcut key combination, but nothing happens.
Maybe it has something to do with some of the TOSHIBA utilities installed on the laptop?

Hmmmm.....custom application? You know that Toshiba doesnt support third part software?
Sorry but I think nobody here can help you. If you have problems with Toshiba related stuff we can discuss about that but usage of some custom applications cannot be supported.
We dont even know what do you use on your notebook.

Recovery media not working for Satellite L455 S5000 , windows 7 -64bit

Guys, My Satellite L455 crashed the drive. I ordered the kit from TOSHIBA to do a factory reinstall. The instructions says: Hold "C"key while bringing computer up. I tried it several times but nothing happened. I tried to boot from the DVD drive but it din't work at all. How may I do to restore my PC using the recovery media with a new drive ? Remembering it's Satellite L455 -S5000 , windows 7 , 64 bit. Thanks in advance. Joelson

The HDD is completely broken. The recovery partition gone too.
About the F12, I tried it.
Choosing the DVD drive to boot using the recovery disc #1 inside nothing happens.
The DVD drive starts, first acess to DVD media happens but nothing appear in the screen. Few seconds after the system try to boot from the new HDD that is empty.
My objective is reconstruct the windows in the new HDD bringing back the HD to it's original structure ( without any data ) like a new one.
Remembering that old drive and new one have the same size ( just the brand is different , new one is SAMSUNG SATA ) . Old one was TOSHIBA .
Any insight is welcomed.

FN key doesn't work propertly on my Satellite P875-32H

Hi everybody,
I have problem like many others, FN key doesn't work propertly. Let's start from beggining:
1. I bought my P875-32H with Win8 64bit, and everything was allright.
2. After upgrade to 8.1 many probles issued and most of them I solved, BUT,
3. recently I found that FN key doesn't work in combination with
a) f5
b) f6-f8 (only with media player works, with winamp doesn't work),
c) f12 (I turned off wifi throught control panel, but indicator still flashing),
d) 1 and 2
e) y or z (US keybord)- keyboard backligth on/off-I try many solutions founded on forums (install driver from toshiba support site) but without success. Throught BIOS I turn on backligth but I can not turn off without entering in BIOS.
f) space-I have never used that combination.
I have tried on Microsoft forums but there is no solutions.
And one more question
Why my model P875-32H is not on dropdown list on toshiba support site?

At first I must say that I hope you have updated your machine following instructions on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/windows8_1-message/
FN keys functionality is controlled by Toshiba specific tools and what you need to install or is already installed are Toshiba system driver and Toshiba function key utility.
FN+F5 key combination is for touchpad. Have you installed proper touchpad driver?
F6 and F8 are designed to work with media player. In the past (WXP) using small plug-in it was possible to use it for Winamp. I think something like this doesn't exist anymore.
You know it is not easy to say install this or that and everything will be OK. FN keys functionality is thing where several things work together.
Check please Toshiba download page on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities for Win8.1.

and "command+2= lock the selected object " doesnt work as well..
but, these shortcut is still ok.
command + c,v

command + select tool = whole select tool
that is, the command key is not totally stopped.
Im cs5 but I have had this trouble in cs4.

It is possible that the issues may be caused by preference corruption or interference from other applications.
You may try the following (you may have tried/done some of them already) and see whether it helps. Since you had it in CS4 too, the most likely is 5).
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer;
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (irreversible);
4) Move the folder with Illy closed (reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options, especially Item 7) with the usual suspects;
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

Capital c key doesn't work

My capital c key doesn't work with either shift- works fine with caps lock, but thats kinda annoying. It doesn't work in any app, not just in pages or something. I don't have an external keyboard. the weird thing is that I can log into another account and it works fine.
Steps I've done
checked that I don't have any keyboard shortcuts involving shift c
repaired disk permissions and rebooted.
deleted com.apple.loginwindow.plist based on another forum post.

One idea - in System Preferences, open the Speech panel and see if you have 'Speak selected text when the key is pressed' is enabled. Disable this if it is enabled.

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.

Left shift key doesn't work on some characters

In some applications, such as Excel and AOL, my left shift key doesn't work on some letters. Consequently, when I'm typing I get lower case letters when I've typed shift plus the letter to get a cap. Right shift works OK, but I'm not used to using it. It happens on i, t, and p, I've noticed so far. I don't know if it's the keyboard or the application. Word seems to work fine.
Would welcome any ideas on what is causing this and how to fix it.

Is it possible that you have inadvertently switched to a different keyboard layout? Open System Preferences, then click on the Language & Text preferences. Within the Language & Text preferences click on the 'Input Sources'. You should see a long list of languages representing the various keyboard layouts that are available. Make sure that only the keyboard language you use is selected. If there are multiple languages selected then de-select the extras.
If you continue to have problems then check the 'Show input menu in menu bar' checkbox in the lower section of the preference pane. This will place an icon in the upper right menu bar (it looks like a flag representing the language you have chosen for your input device) that provides additional options. I suggest selecing the 'Show Keyboard Viewer' option and then try pressing the keys that you are having problems with to see how they show up on the keyboard viewer graphic. If you've set the correct language for your keyboard and the key sequences still don't match, then you may need to take your keyboard in for service. Better yet, borrow another keyboard to confirm that the keyboard is the issue.

I have read your post on how your wireless keyboard's sleep key doesn't work. Is your computer able to enter sleep mode by itself after a certain period of time? Are you able to enable sleep mode using a different keyboard?
In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Troubleshooting. This should help diagnose any possible issue with how keys or buttons are input using your keyboard.

Lightroom 5 key doesn't work

I have purchase Lightroom5 upgrade version for MAC and just re-install my mac and install lightroom5. however, it said my key doesn't work. should i install lightroom 3 then install lightroom5 upgrade version instead of install lightroom 5 directly? where can i down load lightroom 5 upgrade version?

It is possible you downloaded a Creative Cloud version. Try downloading thru the page linked below. An upgrade version is differentiated by the serial number... the software itself only has one version.

Right-Command Key doesn't work

Well, on my PowerBook G4, there are 2 command-keys (I'm sure that's common).
My right command key doesn't work what-so-ever. I tried using the keyboard viewer and it doesn't turn gray either. Funny thing, but when I press the LEFT one, both cmd keys turn gray.
Well i dont know if its a missing driver or a setting, (maybe even a malfunctioning keyboard?) but if anyone can help I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Sorry, my bad. Haven't read through it in awhile and thought it affected keyboard too, but looks like just trackpad and other issues described. You may just have a bad keyboard or something lodged under that key.
