Shortcut placement on Desktop

Hi,
the QUESTION:
need to automate a shortcut placement on a Desktop to the .rdp file for logged in user from:
START BUTTON  \All Programes \ Remote App and Desktop Connections \ Work resources \ APPNAME.rdp
or from:
"C:\Users\green\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Workspaces\{E5890ADA-FFA4-4064-AEE5-D12A10EBAC97}\PROD (Work Resources).rdp"
{E5890ADA-FFA4-4064-AEE5-D12A10EBAC97} is unique for each profile.
DETAILED INFO:
General info:
I am using RDS 2012 Remote App.
Microsoft doesn't provide shortcut of a published APP placement on Desktop on Windows 7.
Plus it requires WebFeed link in the Remote App and Desktop Connections(RADC) in Control Panel for each user profile
entered manually. (NOT a problem for W8.1)
(WEBFEED insertion is not a question in the post)
When WebFeed is entered in RADC the shortcut (.rdp) to Remote App appears under:
START BUTTON  \All Programes \ Remote App and Desktop Connections \ Work resources \ APPNAME.rdp
 My goal:
to automate placement of APPNAME_Shortcut.rdp to the current user Desktop.
I tried:
To use Group policy Preferences FILES for placing the .rdp file on the Desktop for any user profile.
There was no problem with the .rdp placement. It worked fine. But the file itself didn't open.
Further I found that  one parameter in the path to the file is unique for each profile. So one user's file cannot be used for other profiles.
As I see. the only way (theoretically) to reach the goal is to place a shortcut to RDP file from logged in user path:
"C:\Users\green\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Workspaces\{E5890ADA-FFA4-4064-AEE5-D12A10EBAC97}\PROD (Work Resources).rdp" or copy/ create shortcut from START button\All Programs\...........
As I mentioned {E5890ADA-FFA4-4064-AEE5-D12A10EBAC97} is unique for each profile.
The Target in .rdp file properties under:
START BUTTON  \All Programes \ Remote App and Desktop Connections \ Work resources \ APPNAME.rdp
for user GREEN is
%systemroot%\system32\mstsc.exe "C:\Users\green\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Workspaces\{E5890ADA-FFA4-4064-AEE5-D12A10EBAC97}\PROD (Work Resources).rdp"
Could SHORTCUTS in GPO Preferences be used? or some script?
Thanks.

Hi,
>>Could SHORTCUTS in GPO Preferences be used? or some script?
Based on the description, we can try to use GPP Shortcuts extension to do this.
Regarding how to configure a Shortcut Item, the following article can be referred to for more information.

  • How do you add a shortcut to the desktop with ios5?

    Thanks to Itunes helpfully corrupting my Ipad backup and crashing the upgrade to ios5.1 (or whatever) this morning, I've had to completely rebuild my ipad from scratch.  Thanks, I didn't have anything better to do today than try to get all my apps and things set up the way I like again!  And, I didn't have any important data or anything... what the ****, if an update can wipe the ipad AND corrupt the backup, there is a serious problem with this whole thing!
    Anyway, does anyone know how to get a bookmark to a webpage on the desktop?  It used to be that you could click the little "plus" button and just select to put the shortcut on the desktop, but you can't do that anymore, and none of my searches have come up with anything that isn't referring to pre-ios5 versions of safari on the ipad...
    Thanks!

    It is totally weird that you no longer have that feature in the Safari app. Have you tried the basics, restart, reset, quit the app, clear Safari.
    Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Quit Safarai and restart - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus (-) sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    I have seen some of the most bizarre, off the wall, mysterious issues on my iPad since I updated that it has me totally mystified in many ways. Very, very disappointing to say the least.

  • How do I stop my MacBook Pro from making shortcuts on my desktop when I'm moving a folder

    So my question is,
    How do I stop my MacBook Pro from making shortcuts on the desktop when I'm trying to move the original photo, all I want to do is move a picture from a folder on the desktop without making a shortcut!

    Hi RockHazard,
    If you want to change the behavior of the Finder when moving files around you can use keyboard shortcuts.
    OS X: Keyboard shortcuts - Apple Support
    Way down under Finder shortcuts we find:
    Command key while dragging
    Move the dragged item to another volume or location
    (the pointer changes while key is held)
    Option key while dragging
    Copy the dragged item
    (the pointer changes while key is held)
    Command-Option key combination while dragging
    Make an alias of the dragged item
    (the pointer changes while key is held)

  • I moved my itunes media from one external hard drive to another. How do I change the shortcut on my desktop to open to the new external hard drive?

    Ok, so i originally installed itunes on an external hard drive (G drive) and not my PC. So my itunes runs completely from my external and that how I like it. Well over time it got full so I bought and moved all my media over to a bigger 2TB external hard drive (D drive). I verified that all the media (music, movies, tv show etc) are all on the new drive and everything points to it. However the itunes shortcut on my desktop still points to the G drive external. If I unplug it and try to open itunes it gives me an error. So I have to keep the G external drive plugged in just to launch itunes and then use my new D external to get the media. How the heck do I change that? I tried moving the itunes.exe file over to the new drive but that didnt work. I want it to run exclusively off the new D external. Please Help Me!!! I am using Win 7 if that helps.

    My DeDuper script is designed to help clean up. See this thread for background.

  • [Solved] wy i can place xfce4 desktop icons in a "grid" only?

    hello archers!
    im in love with xfce4 DE, but the annoying thing is that i can place the desktop icons only in a invisible "grid" of tiles.
    i changed the display manager to gdm, but it didn't help. i tryed changing the WM, but didn't not find out how to do that.
    Yes, i dont understand how DE's working internal, cause there are so many parts, as DM, WM, session-manager, and so on, which confuses me.
    So how i can place my icons individually on the desktop?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Another way to adjust the desktop grid size settings and more.

    HIDDEN CUSTOMISATIONS
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If you're using the icon view, and would like to change how the text looks,
    you have three things you can change: the opacity (transparency) of the
    rounded text background, the color of the rounded text background, and the
    color of the text itself.
    You'd want to add something like this to your ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file:
    style "xfdesktop-icon-view" {
    XfdesktopIconView::label-alpha = 75
    XfdesktopIconView::selected-label-alpha = 100
    XfdesktopIconVIew::ellipsize-icon-labels = 1
    XfdesktopIconView::shadow-x-offset = 1
    XfdesktopIconView::shadow-y-offset = 1
    XfdesktopIconView::shadow-color = "#ff0000"
    XfdesktopIconView::selected-shadow-x-offset = 2
    XfdesktopIconView::selected-shadow-y-offset = 2
    XfdesktopIconView::selected-shadow-color = "#00ff00"
    XfdesktopIconVIew::cell-spacing = 6
    XfdesktopIconView::cell-padding = 6
    XfdesktopIconView::cell-text-width-proportion = 2.5
    base[NORMAL] = "#00ff00"
    base[SELECTED] = "#5050ff"
    base[ACTIVE] = "#0000ff"
    fg[NORMAL] = "#ff0000"
    fg[SELECTED] = "#ff0000"
    fg[ACTIVE] = "#ff0000"
    widget_class "*XfdesktopIconView*" style "xfdesktop-icon-view"
    The first three entries set the opacity of the rounded text background
    (allowed values are from 0 (totally transparent) to 255 (totally opaque),
    and whether or not unselected icons get their labels ellipsized
    (truncated) to fit on one line. (The 'selected-' version controls the
    opacity of icons that have been selected with the mouse.)
    The second six entries can be used to enable a text shadow to be painted
    with the icon labels. The offsets are in pixels. Setting them to 0 (the
    defaults) will disable the shadows entirely. Again, the 'selected-'
    versions apply to icons that have been selected with the mouse.
    The third four entries set spacing and sizing for individual icons on
    the grid. The 'cell-spacing' property specifies the spacing between each
    'cell' in the grid of icons. The 'cell-padding' property sets extra
    padding placed around each icon+text. The units for these two are in
    pixels. The 'cell-text-width-proportion' property specifies the maximum
    width of the text label underneat the icon, as a multiplier of the icon
    width (so for 30px icons, '2.5' would leave a 75px wide area underneath
    for the text).
    The fourth three entries set the color of the rounded text background.
    * NORMAL sets the color for the regular, unselected state.
    * SELECTED sets the color for when the icon is selected, and the desktop has
    keyboard/mouse focus.
    * ACTIVE sets the color for when the icon is selected, but the desktop does
    not have keyboard/mouse focus.
    The final three entries set the color of the label text. See above for the
    differences between NORMAL, SELECTED, and ACTIVE.
  • How to change the icon for a shortcut on the desktop
    I created a shortcut on the Desktop (dragging a safari url-icon to the desktop) but the icon showing is a safari icon.
    The website has a specific icon, as displayed as the first item (icon) on the url bar in front of the website-URL.
    I located the specific icon on the website (favicon.ico), opened it and copied the icon (copy paste).
    Then I opened the properties screen for my shortcut (at the Desktop) (control click on link) .
    Now I am supposed to copy the new icon (from my Clipboard)  into the properties of the Desktop URL, but how do I do that?
    You can change the favicon for a folder but not  a specific Safari url.
    Click a clear space on your desktop then go to the Finder menu and click File > New Folder
    Move Safari url shortcuts to that folder.
    Then copy and paste the icon for the folder.
    -
    Make absolutely certain that FireFox is designated as your default browser.
    Do this: Tools / Options / Advanced / Check Now / correct the setting
    OR right click on any shortcut icon / Open With / Choose Default Program / select desired Browser / check Always... box / OK
  • PSE 7 Shortcut Logo on Desktop corrupted
    Hi - I've got a very minor problem but hopefully someone can help.
    As a result of downloading a Citrix plugin on my home PC the PSE 7 shortcut on my desktop, although still there, is blank - ie theres a thumbnail but it doesnt contain the PSE7 logo.
    Any suggestions ?
    I thought about reloading PSE7 but dont want to lose the tages on my 5000+ images.
    Thanks in Advance
    Hi Ankush
    I really appreciate your help with this matter and will re-install PSE
    shortly.
    As for the Citrix plugin I unfortunately don't have the exact details of
    what plugin it was. I use Citrix to access my companys resources and when I
    logged in yesterday I was prompted to download a plugin before I could
    continue. However when I did this I could not access any resources and my PC
    locked up.
    I ended up uninstalling it but was left with the PSE issue.
    Sorry I couldn't provide more detail.
    Thank you again for your help.
  • After updating to 3.6.14 there are shortcuts on the desktop that won't delete. How do I delete them?
    I was prompted to update my fire fox to 3.6.14. After doing it, there were 4 shortcuts on my desktop. I have tried deleting them but get a message saying "cannot delete file: cannot read from the source file or disk."
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Or Quit the mail app.
    Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button.
    Go back to mail and see if it is fixed.
  • How do I always show a Firefox icon when dragging a URL shortcut to the desktop?
    Win 7 Pro 64
    When dragging a URL shortcut to the desktop, I sometimes get the websites favicon regardless if the site has a favicon or not.
    How do I always show a Firefox icon when dragging a URL shortcut to the desktop?
    Thank you
    LIke many others, I had the same problem with v.26. I had a whole slew of URL shortcuts that the icons went to blank white squares. Here is what I did to fix: First I put them all in a folder to make sure there weren't any left on the desktop.
    Next, I opened that folder, went to the first shortcut and double clicked it to open the web page. When it opened, I used the mouse to drag the URL onto the desktop creating a new shortcut. Again the white square icon resulted.
    So I right clicked the shortcut, clicked on "Properties" and under the "Web Document" tab, clicked "Change Icon". A new pop-up window opens that attempts to find a new icon in the windows shell files.
    I instead clicked "Browse" and inserted the directory path to the Firefox program file:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
    SIX icons were shown, the top left being the familiar white square with the Firefox logo, which I selected, then clicked my way back out on the "OK" buttons.
    NOW, I opened each URL link in the folder, and once opened in a new browser window, dragged the URL's to the desktop and NOW Firefox assigned each one the new correct icon automatically. Once done with all the shortcuts, I deleted the old ones from the folder and the folder itself. End of problem. Now when I save new shortcuts by dragging URL's to the desktop it saves them correctly.
    When I start firefox through shortcut icon on desktop, the message comes that Windows cannot find C:\...\jqsnotify.exe . Tried to search the file through Search also but could not find the file.
    That is the Java Quick Starter, a couple of options for you:
    # Open the add-ons manager (in the Tools menu select Add-ons)
    # In the list of Extensions, click on Java Quick Starter to select it, then click on Disable
    When you re-start Firefox that should stop the error.
    The second option is to re-install Java. You are using an old version of Java so it is recommended that you install the latest version, available from http://java.com/
  • How to save a shortcut to my desktop?
    Clicking and dragging the favicon works, but not for pages that won't load or hang.
    How do we get a shortcut to these? I don't remember have this problem before.
    Every site will have server issues from time to time. I'm disappointed that I have to install an Addon every time I want such basic functionality.
    I recommend anyone reading this not to upgrade from 3.6, or just use Chrome instead if they want this style of browsing.
    * No taskbar (ripped from Google Chrome). A usability downgrade. Requires Addon to fix.
    * Tabs above the address bar. Another pointless, copied, "arty" feature that destroys usability. Does not require Addon to fix.
    * Refresh/Home buttons moved to right. A usability downgrade. Does not require Addon to fix.
    * Can't drag shortcuts to the desktop from the favicon if a site is having server troubles. A usability downgrade, or a plain old bug. Requires Addon to fix.
    * Stop button is merged with the Reload button. A usability downgrade. The only way to get exact FF3 functionality is to use an Addon. Moving the Stop button to the right of Reload will merge them. The only way to put it in the same position as FF3 is to add an annoying Seperator between them.
    Hi there
    This post may be under the wrong section, if you are a new Mac user, then you most likely have an Intel based Mac, not a PPC. And also, you may want to not write IN CAPS as it usually indicates yelling in a forum environment
    1. You cannot Cut & Paste on a Mac, you may Copy & Paste, if you want to Cut & Paste (CMD + X) you can download MoveAddict from the Mac App Store.
    2. EDIT: Sorry, I thought you meant Application shortcut - do what he said \/ \/ \/
    Hope that helps
