Shortcut to advance next track?

When entering song info on a new CD I use "Get Info" for the first track and then click the next button at the bottom of the window. Is there a shortcut for the 'next' button?

  • Shortcut to advance NEXT track under iTunes 12?

When entering song info on a new CD I use "Get Info" for the first track and then click the next button at the bottom of the window in iTunes 12.
Is there any keyboard shortcut for the 'next' button? Before the current 12 version, Cmd+N worked just fine. At this moment I have to move the mouse cursor to the ">" button which is time consuming.
    Thank you.

  • Global key shortcut to play next track while working in another program...

Is there a key combo that will play the next track regardless of what program you are working in? I know command arrow will do that, but itunes must have focus for that to work.
Senerio - I am working in pages and the track playing is not a favorite, can I skip to the next track without finding the itunes window?

I use this free program which gives you complete control over iTunes from the OS X menu bar: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/ipod_itunes/youcontroltunes.html

  • ITunes 8 does not automatically advance to next track in album or playlist

iTunes 8 was recently installed for me by the company on my company laptop. This was done automatically by LANDesk. (We call this being LANDesked. I was forced by LANDesk to reboot my computer twice yesterday, but I digress.)
iTunes does not automatically advance to the next track in an album or playlist, either in list view or grid view.
List View: I can play any song in an album by double-clicking it or by selecting the track and pressing the play button. When it gets to the end of that track, it does not automatically advance to playing the next track. Pressing Ctrl-Right stops the current track and does not play the next track. The Next button is active and it, too, stops the current track and does not play the next track.
Grid View: Play Album button appears to be active but does nothing.
Is there some setting I'm missing that was set to do this in iTunes 7 but not in 8?

Thanks. That fixes the problem. I'm an idiot.
I thought the check boxes were for selecting which tracks get synced to my iPod or iPhone. I must have unchecked them all (before the installation of iTunes 8) when I was trying to figure out how to sync a 2nd computer (this one) to my iPhone.
I can't find anything in the iTunes help about this necessary fact for playing your albums and playlists. If you look on the Index tab of the help, neither check nor uncheck are found in the list. If you search for check, you eventually find, amongst all the pages, that you need to have tracks checked in order to burn them to a CD and to import them from a CD, but I find nothing about checking to play tracks. Also, the help is very confusing on the difference between selecting one or more songs and checking the check boxes of one or more song. These seem to be used interchangeably occasionally.

  • Can't advance to the next track

I installed iTunes 7.0. The next song button (forward) doesn't work. Everytime I press it, the song stops. I play one song to completion and it stops. It doesn't automatically advance to the next track. I tried uninstalling and re-installing, but the problem remains. I can't rewind either. Basically, the forward and reverse button is acting like a stop button. Any suggestions to remedy this problem?

Nevermind. I'm a dork. I didn't realize all the little boxes next the the track had to be "checked" to advance to the next track. All of mines were unchecked. Newbie.

Last point...who archives? On my regular email page I now have the Archive icon to the left of my Delete icon which I would prefer was to the left, first in the line as this is the icon I use mostly. With Folders, my Sent and Trash lists, who needs to archive?
I can help you only with the placement of the icon placement -- if you right-mouse click on the toolbar, then select Customize Toolbar, you can move an icon to where you want it to be.

  • Songs end prematurely, skip to next track in iTunes 10.6.3

I wanted to see if other iTunes users are having this issue. I'm using iTunes 10.6.3 (the latest version), and both my wife and I are seeing the same behavior in our iTunes libraries with songs we've either purchased from the iTunes Store or that we've ripped from CDs. It doesn't seem to matter which.
The problem is a track will play and then stop abruptly before it's full length has played, and iTunes will then skip to the next track. This happened to me today with a new album I just purchased from the iTunes Store. 2 of the 13 tracks behaved this way. For example, if I'm playing a song that's 5:45 in length, iTunes will stop playing at 5:02 and jump to the next track.
It also just happened on an album I downloaded from the iTunes cloud. I'd purchased it a couple years ago from the iTunes Store. I played the album today and again, one track stopped short of its true length, and iTunes skipped to the next track.
So I guess the good news is it doesn't appear to a problem with corrupted tracks or anything. It points to a problem the iTunes application itself.
If anyone has experienced the same problem, please share what you know. Thanks in advance.

On the main iTunes screen, click on Purchased. That'll give you a list of your songs & albums stored on the cloud. The song(s) you've deleted should be available for download again (they'll have the cloud icon next to them). If not, sign out of iTunes and then sign back in again and go back through the same steps mentioned above. Hope this helps.

  • Songs cut short by skip to next track

I recently built a new system and upgraded from XP to Vista. However based on other posts I do not believe that either OS or hardware are a factor.
After migrating my music and library to the new system everything appeared to have worked perfectly. However I noticed that certain songs are being cut off short of their total play time. The time appears to be random from song to song but never changes for any particular song. If you move past the trigger point the song will play till the end. If you play the song in Quicktime it works fine.
I have checked the time in the Library.xml file, removed and replaced iTunes and installed earlier versions. Nothing works. This error does not appear to be common but does seem to affect a wide range of OS and hardware (yes even on Apple computers). Just search these forums for "skip next track".
None of the posts I have read provide any kind of solution. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I have a similar problem. I had accidently deleted my entire iTunes library when I reformatted my hard drive. I had a backup on an external hard drive. When I reimported the library to the reformatted hard drive I noticed the same problem that you have.
You might try what I tried. I opened the songs that skip in a sound editing program, one in which you can see the sound wave track. When I do this I can see that these songs now have gaps in them.....pretty much evenly spaced throughout the song. These gaps are about 3 seconds long, and are spaced around 30 seconds apart. One of my songs has gaps every 33 seconds. Others vary, some 23 seconds apart, other 31 seconds, others 35 seconds....but all of the gaps are about 3 seconds long.
When playing any of these "swiss cheese" songs that are filled with gaps, either in iTunes or on my iPod, as soon it gets to the first gap, it skips to the next song.

  • Move to start of next Track?

Am building a corporate DVD that has MainMenu > 10 submenus > 10 tracks.
Client wants to use the DVD remote advance button >>| to move from each item (slides & video) to the next within a track, while each item 'holds' until advance button >>| is pressed - no problem, just add a marker each time and set marker playback option to Infinite.
But when moving from last item on a track to first item of next track.... problems! (Client wants ideally to be independent of returns to submenus)
    Have tried
    a. setting the last item's marker to end jump to the next item's marker
    b. setting the last item's marker to end jump to next item's submenu
    c. leaving it Not Set
hoping advance button >>| would take us there. But am getting random results - route 'a' above works in half of cases.
Running close to deadline - any help appreciated!

It seems to me that you could put the contents of your 10 tracks onto a single track and then create 10 stories, one story to replace each of your 10 tracks. The first story would include all the content of the track, the second story would contain the content that had been on tracks 2 through 10, the third story would contain the content that had been on tracks 3 through 10, etc.

  • Downloaded a song from itunes and it ends almost 2 minutes early and skips to next track

downloaded a song from itunes and it ends almost 2 minutes early and skips to next track. I deleted the song and redownloaded it from the purchased section on the itunes store three times and still have the same problem. What is the solution?

Clear your web browser's cache, use Edit > Preferences > Advanced and tap the Reset cache button, delete the contents (if any) of ...\iTunes Media\Download, then try again.  If the problem persists contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history.

  • Ipad mini next track

hi, i used to be abble to swipe the screen to the next track playing on music, but not now. is this stopped with ios7? thank you.

    Hi Tony,
To skip over a song playing in iOS 7 and go to the next song - in a playlist, on iTunes radio, etc, go to the double right arrow symbol and tap, as mentioned in the iPad User Guide -
    iPad User Guide
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1595/en_US/ipad_user_guide.pdf
    See page 52 and 53.
You can also use Siri to do the same thing - See page 56.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • TS1468 Why can't I edit album track information in the INFO window, and more to the next track without having to do each track seperate?

In iTunes 10, I could edit multiple track information in the (Info) tab and click to move to the next track within that album. Now with iTunes 11.1.3.8, I have to do each track seperate. It will not let me edit track information (as if track numbering), and click next to move to another track within the same album. It's a pain to have to do each song , and then click on the next song I want to edit. My music library is 171 GB (47,185 files & 19,498 folders). I can find the Duplicate files, but I can't edit like I use to in iTunes 10. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreicated!!!!! I will be an old man at the rate I'm going now.

Either select a single track, Get Info, then use the Next/Previous buttons to move between them, or select multiple tracks, Get Info, and edit common properties. The next and previous buttons do not appear in multi-track Get Info (and never have).
Regarding duplicates, Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)
