Shortcuts for Switching Safari Windows

Is there a keyboard shortcut to switch windows in safari? As I muse internet banking, the working page opens in a new window, but to get back to the Origional page I have to use the mouse to hold over the safari icon to see windows, and click on the other page.
Does this make sense?? I would like to know if there is a short cut like the Comand Tab to switch windows ??

Technically it is the Grave Accent ` (aka reverse quote) under the tilda ~ key. Tilda ~ is shifted, and Grave Accent ` is not.

My "suggestion" (it's not a suggestion by the way - that's what DW says in the menu bar Window > Next Document/Previous Document) is the same as Cmd-Shift-tilde(~). ~ key is ` key.
This key combination has not been changed as far as I remember. It's the same in CS5 (ctrl + tab does nothing by the way).
Are you using German keyboard and German DW? What does it say in the menu bar Window > Next Document/Previous Document (in German equivalent obviously )

There are actually two sets of shortcuts for switching windows in Photoshop CC. One is the OS shortcut that Photoshop respects, which c.pfaffenbichler covered. The other is the older traditional Photoshop shortcut for switching windows, which on the Mac is Control-Tab or Shift-Control-Tab (that really does use the Control key on the Mac, not Command). Both ways work for me in Photoshop CC in Mavericks.
The shortcut you mentioned, Command-< , is not a default shortcut for window switching for the US keyboard. Is your keyboard set to a different language? That might be part of the issue. Or you could try resetting your preferences (start Photoshop while holding Command-Option-Shift).

Keyboard shortcut for switching between orthogonal views?

I know that F10, F11, F12 toggle between the custom views, but is there a shortcut or a way to create the shortcut for switching between the different orthogonal views? What's the easiest way to switch between top and left views?

In Safari is there a Keyboard shortcut for Merge All Windows?

Majority of sites sill open new pages in new windows, not new tabs. So, I keep using the Merge All Windows feature all the time. Please, provide a keyboard shortcut for this!

Although there is no default keyboard shortcut for the menu item in question, there is nothing preventing you from creating your own.
Under System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts, press the "+" sign. From the Application drop-down menu, choose Safari. In the Menu Title field enter "Merge All Windows" -- without the quotes. In the Keyboard Shortcut field, enter your desired key combo and then click the Add button.
You'll need to quit System Preferences and restart Safari for the change to take effect. Good luck.

What is the shortcut for switching to the previous window?

Sorry to trouble you with such a simple problem, but I can't find it in the "Help" menu. What is the key board shortcut for going back one window. From a folder window, I can click the left arrow (upper left) but what is the short cut? I thought it was holding the command key and clicking the left arrow key, but that does not work. How to set mac shortcuts (for mac and windows OS)

i am having a bit of an issue.
i run windows 7 and mac os on the same computer on different hard drives in this computer. i also have a "mac" keyboard. i am not sure how this may be different from a "windows keyboard" but the point is i need to use this keyboard because it matches the one on my laptop which is a mac.
when i switch to windows on this machine i always end up deleting information because the CMD + X and CMD + V cut and paste shortcuts on Mac OS are not the same in windows. windows requires (currently) CTRL + X and CTRL + V. so when i got to cut and paste in windows CTRL + X (this is my habitual way of working) and then i run a CTRL + V i end up writing /over/ the text i selected with a "x" and i end up pasting /over/ the text i selected to paste over with a "v". this is because instead of running a cut and paste, this set of shortcuts in windows simply enters "x" and "y" respectively since the shortcut is not active.
does anyone know where i set these in windows OS and in mac OS?
also, does anyone know if it is possible to set how many UNDOS i can do in either of these OS's or to know how many i can in fact undo?

long story background:
1. while i may move to a windows keyboard on the computer i am using (because the mac keyboards these days end up losing keys and they end up very wobbly) i cannot do this for the laptop machine so this may not make a lot of sense if i end up also running windows on the laptop which is my intention at some point.
2. CTRL + X is a very long stretch on the mac keyboard so rather than switching mac shortcuts to accommodate windows shortcuts i am thinking to switch windows shortcuts to mac ATM.
3. this is no small issue! i just went to copy and paste this text so i could save it for myself in order to explain to someone else and i ended up overwriting with a "c". if i had not thought fast and remembered to UNDO by hitting CTRL - X and not CMD - X i might have lost all my work.

I also realise that you can use system preferences - Keyboard - modifier keys to make cmd = ctrl or vice versa
I'd surely ask/read elsewhere about altering windows, given the reach issue - but no qualms beyond confusion if switching/using other machines. You might soon find you switch layouts mentally, quite easily.

Shortcut for switching / tabbing between open documents?

Hi. In Mac OS in general, you can switch between open documents or windows in the same program via the shortcut COMMANDO + >. Like for instance different windows in Firefox. But in Numbers and Pages, this means zoom in or out.
Does anybody know a shortcut to switch / tab between the open documents in Numbers and Pages?
I have searched google, here and e-mailed for help and found nothing.

You see, just google for "Large letter keyboard" and maybe add Mac. But ones without Mac symbols works just as fine, you just have to learn which key is which.
Seems there is no solution to my tilde-problem...

I'm using CS3 5.0.3 on OS 10.4.11.
I'm trying to use a shortcut to switch between different open document windows. The documentation says this:
Switch to next/previous document window
Command+F6 or Command+~ [tilde]/ Command+Shift+~ [tilde]
However, none of these options work.

Coming from SL, one functionality that I used a lot was keyboard shortcuts to go to different applications.
For instance, I had assigned Mail to Space 2, iTunes to Space 3 etc.
Then it was possible to instantly go to Mail by pressing alt-2, to iTunes with alt-3 etc.
In Lion, it is possible to assign Applications to desktops, and use the same commands to go to these desktops. However, as soon as an application is 'fullscreened' it leaves its previous desktop, and cannot be reached with the old keyboard shortcuts.
My question:
is it possible to create a keyboard shortcut to switch to a desktop containing a fullscreen app?

This is quite possible. The way to do it is with keyboard shortcuts. If you check the appropriate boxes you can use a keyboard combination of Control and the Desktop #. It makes it very easy to swtich between desktops.

Can't change the shortcut to switch between windows (^F4) to altTAB

I would like to switch between windows (not applications) by hitting ALT and TAB (same as Windows) instead of ^F4. In the preferences, I tried to change the shortcut labelled something like "Move focus to the active (or next) window". Unfortunately, it always complains that this shortcut is already used by another operation. However I can't find which operation uses ALT+TAB ?!
How should I do ?

Interesting. I can't use the TAB key in ANY custom shortcuts. it gives an error sound (but no message) when i try. I tried it on 3 different computers. I suggest you try a different shortcut like alt+`. It's very close to alt+tab.
However I can't find which operation uses ALT+TAB ?!
How should I do ?

You shouldn't need a shortcut now to be honest as there are only 'five' colours available to choose from.

Error: "Unable to create a shortcut for MyApp" on Windows 2008

When I try to install my JAVA app on windows 2008 via Java Web Start, it pop up a error message "Unable to create a shortcut for MyApp". The app can startup and work correctly after clicking "ok" on error message. BUT, there is no shortcut created on Desktop or Start Menu.
This problem occured on Windows 2008 ONLY. I have test the installation process on different OS with JRE 6u14 and 6u20:
Windows XP PASS
Windows 7 PASS
Windows 2003 PASS
Windows 2008 FAIL, can't create shortcut on Desktop and Start Menu
And I have test the demos on http://pscode.org/jws/api.html, the problem is same.
Does any one has any idea on this?

But I don't understand very clear. I'm focus on the windows platform not Linux. Do you suggest to create shortcuts and menu items manually by coding in Applet?
I prefer to use the JNLP file cause it works good on the other OS than to change my code.
What I want to know is:
1. Is it a bug for JRE on Windows 2008?
2. If NO, how can I make it work on Windows 2008? Do I need change some System Setting or Browser Setting?
3. If YES, maybe I can try to change my code, but why there is no bug filed in the Bug Database?
BTW, I use the IE browser.
