Shortcuts in App-V 5

In the full infrastucture installation of App-V 4.6 you had the possibility to publish the different shortcuts in a package to different AD security groups.
For example we have a tiny application it is only a executable with som .txt files. I Always copied the exe with the .txt files 5 times (we have got 5 locations) when I sequenced the application and made 5 shortcuts on the desktop to the executable
belonging to the 5 different locations. When I imported the application I added a AD securty group (with all the people of that location) to the Access permissions.
Can you do this in App-V 5.0 while using SCCM 2012 for distribution and publishing?

I don't believe there's an equivalent with SCCM 2012 to take care of that. You may need to do some scripting and deploy with A Configuration file

  • Shortcut to App Store missing I-phone4 how do I get it reinstalled

    shortcut to App Store missing on my home screen for  I-phone4 how do I get it reinstalled?

    The App Store can't be deleted, it's still on your phone somewhere thought it might be hidde. If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (pull down the centre of the home screen in iOS 7, swipe your first home screen to the right in iOS 6 and below), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps being set 'off' ?
    If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the phone has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

  • Is it possible to recreate Office 2010 FTAs if publishing only shortcuts in App-V 5 SP2?

    Greetings,
    I am trying to sequence only shortcuts for locally installed office 2010 to be used in connection groups with combinations of add-ins utilizing user targeting. Package with shortcuts work fine, however when I try to add file type associations (FTAs) the
    result is quite poor. Double click on file with registered extension seems to be triggering the shortcut but not with desired result from the office application (excel is started without opening the file being clicked, Outlook is starting instead of opening
    the msg file, etc)
    Is it possible to publish only shortcuts and achieve full functionality of FTAs as they would normally work in office? What is the best/recommended way to go about it?
    I have tried exporting registry keys from HKEY_Classes_Root, HKLM\Software\RegisteredApplications, HK??\Software\Microsoft\[Appname]\Capabilities and few others and import them in the package but wasn't able to get the sequencer to recognize the FTAs and
    adding it manually doesn't achieve the desired result
    Environment: App-V 5 SP2 with hotfix 5, windows 7 64bit stateless VDI (xendesktop), full app-v infrastructure (no sccm), shared content store
    Any help/direction will be appreciated

    Thank you for your reply
    Your suggestion (office globally, add-in user published in CG) would be one of the options. As with all the others it doesn't appear to be a clean way of doing it as App-V server infrastructure is not supported. That will mean manually creating
    (and updating) xml files, using login scripts etc to make it happen. All the others have similar limitation. (This is where I urge MS to re-think their office add-in support and improve it in next version/update.) All that is provided I get buy in for virtualizing
    office in the first place. There is quite a reluctance at that (myself included) but that is a different topic.
    As for the other people that may be looking to do something similar. It is possible (though not straightforward) to achieve this (using file extensions to open apps inside appv bubble) This may not be the best way to do it but I have found it to work so
    I will share it.
    file extensions are stored in the registry in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT (among other places). Example .xlsx. Underneath that particular key there are subkeys (either openwithprogids or progid/long key itself example: Excel.Sheet.12 - more information on that
    bing search for "msdn cc144148" as I am unable to post links at this time). Same ProgIDs/long names are defined again in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT (HKCR\Excel.Sheet.12). Under that key there should be shell key with one or more commands (open, edit, etc).
    Yet another subkey called command will reveal the executable called for the extension (example: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\command). Default property shows clear text command, command property shows the same command possibly with different
    encoding (example for excel: xb'BV5!!!!!!!!!MKKSkEXCELFiles>VijqBof(Y8'w!FId1gLQ /dde)
    This is the place where I tested adding the appvve:/guid_guid switch and it worked.
    Hint: searching registry for particular command (xb'BV5!!!!!!!!!MKKSkEXCELFiles>VijqBof(Y8'w!FId1gLQ) helps revealing all location that need changing per application. In my example there were 61 locations for excel alone. Powershell is really helpful
    with that. Search registry script bing search "Searching the Registry with PowerShell Bill Stewart" (another hint: use [regex]::escape(xb'BV5!!!!!!!!!MKKSkEXCELFiles>VijqBof(Y8'w!FId1gLQ))
    Since you will probably have more than one combination of add-ins like me you want to use connection groups. If you want to use this option you have to use only one connection group for a particular user for the same file extension. Login script can be used
    to set the proper /appvve switch on the fly every time user logs on)
    As I mentioned in the beginning it is neither clean nor simple but it is possible. example script code used for proof of concept (all registry locations are listed in office_keys.txt instead of searching to speed up processing. Format is registry location
    on a line by itself example: "HKCR:\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\command" . Connection group published to user starts with "office". Change as needed)
    New-PSDrive -PSProvider Registry -Name HKCR -Root HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
    $officeKeys = Get-Content .\office_keys.txt
    $cg = Get-AppvClientConnectionGroup office*
    If ($cg) {
    $appvve = "$($cg.GroupID)_$($cg.VersionID)"
    foreach ($key in $OfficeKeys) {
    $command = get-itemproperty $key.ToString() "command"|select -ExpandProperty command
    if ($command -notmatch "appvve") { $command = $command + " /appvve:$appvve"}
    Set-ItemProperty -Path $key.ToString() -Name Command -type MultiString -Value $command

  • Finder keyboard shortcuts switching apps - broken

    Apple's finder keyboard shortcuts are overiding my app shortcuts.
    For example:
    In the finder... command-2 switches to Safari.
    In the finder... command-3 switches to FireFox.
    here is the problem...
    In adobe illustrator the keyboard shortcut {cmd-2} should lock an element. In my case, it switches me to Safari even when the key command is used in Adobe Illustrator.
    In adobe illustrator the keyboard shortcut {cmd-3} should hide an element. In my case, it switches me to Firefox even when the key command is used in Adobe Illustrator.
    Why is this happening? It worked fine lst week.
    Thanks, Tom
    PS: Adobe Illustrator CS6.0.4. Mac OS Version 10.9.2

    So my question is how to fix it? Or what is causing it? so I can fix it.

  • Put shortcut to app in startup folder as part of installation.

    I want to put a shortcut to my LV executable into the All Users Startup folder so that anytime a user logs in, the application will start up. I know this can be done manually very easily, but I would like this to happen automatically as part of the installation. I tried creating the shortcut and adding it as a support file, but this has the problem that once you select the shortcut to add, you get the target added to your list instead of the shortcut. I worked around this by putting the shortcut inside a folder and adding the folder contents. When I installed the app, the shortcut was placed in the right location but was corrupted.
    The logical use for choosing the Destination Setting to be "Startup Di
    rectory" is for this very purpose. It seems like it should be straightforward...
    It also noticed that you cannot play the game of renaming the file with a different extension such as TXT - Windows still knows it is a shortcut. Any ideas?

    Chris,
    I don't know how to create the shortcut, but you can just place a key in the registry to get your executable to run automatically at startup.
    You need to create a key with the path to the executable in:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> Microsoft >> Windows >> CurrentVersion >> Run
    Now to do this automatically in your VI will require more programming. You can create an executable that writes that key and set it to run after the installation or you can set an entrie in your INI file that checks if this is the first time the exe runs; if it is just write the Key and clear the flag in the ini file.
    I think you could also use Microsoft's Orca utility to edit the msi file and get it to insert that Key for you (orca comes now with
    the windows SDK package).
    I hope this helps.

  • How to create Android shortcut to App in AIR?

    What is the programmatic way (is there a programmatic way?) to create a
    main launcher shortcut to your application on Android -- using AIR and AS3?
    The tablets are being used only for our app, so it is appropriate
    to put a shortcut on main for us, upon install.
    This can be done in Java on Android.
    I’m looking to drop the app icon right onto the Honeycomb main launcher – and
    not just under the Apps button; where it goes by default.
    I spent a while searching and didn’t see it.
    Thanks

    Did you look at Extending AIR for Android?
    Since it give you access to the AndroidManifest, you should be able to do it (with 1 more building step...)

  • First letter shortcut in app list view - Lumia 800

    Hi all,
     I recently downloaded a couple of apps of my Lumia 800 and I noticed that the app list view has been rearranged in to groups by the first letter of the apps name. Although I find it functional and overall it looks well, I’d like to know if this can be turn off. The only downside I see is that I find myself scrolling down a for longer period of time.
    I appreciate any support.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    This subject has been discussed before, and it is a built in feature that automatically triggers once the number of apps reaches a certain level so you can quickly search for a specific app in a long list. It is a built in feature and cannot be changed AFAIK, there may be changes in future updates, but I doubt it, Personally I find it very useful, and assume most users do as this is only the second thread I've seen mention it as an issue, and as the number of apps available for WP increases I would assume it will become even more useful. The only way to remove for now, as far as I can see is to remove apps you don't use/like untill your list is short enough not to require it. Also, this is a software issue and it may be worth commenting in the Microsoft Windows phone forums, as they may be able to give more SW issue related info ?

  • Shortcuts to apps?

    Since last week, the Home button on my iPhone (3g) just stopped working. So instead of paying $$ to get it fixed or replaced, I've decided to wait until the new iPhone comes out.
    So my plan is to add all the phone # from my contact list as bookmarks in Safari so that I can make calls and text people through the browser, which is kinda working out for me.
    Now what I'd like to know is if there is a way to create short cuts to apps that I have on my iPhone and somehow launch the apps within the browser. Any thoughts?
    If there is another way to get back to home screen without using the home button would be better though...

    You cannot run the apps with in Safari. They each run in their own sandbox.
    You may want to try a little canned air on your home button in case there is a little debris in it.

  • Remapping for App's shortcut's doesn't work

    Hello
    OS X 10.10.3 Yosemite.
    I'm trying to remap default hotkeys of "Mac Viewer" App, but it doesn't work.
    I followed theese steps:
    OS X Yosemite: Create keyboard shortcuts for apps
    OS X Yosemite: If a keyboard shortcut doesn’t work
    I want to change this default App's shortcut:
    To this:
    After I perform this step and reload the App it still uses original shortcuts. No other apps are using CTRL+OPTION+1 shortcut.
    What is wrong with that?

  • IPhone 6+ app shortcut feature

    I saw a feature (in the store when I ordered my 6) that placed a bubble on the screen that looked like shortcuts to apps. How do I turn on this feature, or did I see an app that allows this feature? I know about the double home button technique, this looked like an alternative.

  • Using a shortcut in a Condition

    I have a SQL Expression used in many conditions on many pages. It uses app level items and static strings.
    How can I store it in one place as say a shortcut or app-level substitution string? This way, I need to change it one place only.
    Thanks

    Yes, I could, but it seems like a waste to create a one-line stored function. It is really just a INSTR() thats all, I thought it would be nice to handle it in HTML DB itself. I thought substitution strings and shortcuts were designed for this sort of stuff (reuse SQL and PL/SQL fragments), right?

    Shortcut 1 is pointing to SAPlogon.exe, able to launch SAP shortcut and working as expected, however shortcut 2 is pointing to excel.exe along with smartview addin.
    Issue 1 We have tried to captured\sequenced the Smartview (Excel plugin) with C:\Program Files (x86)\ or with the  Q:\Drive it is not working. When we launch the shortcut
    under shortcut streaming (App-v 4.6) excel is not responding\Stuck. We are not able to close the excel.
    Issue 2 is critical.
    Issue 2 : per the instructions I need to
    Create a shortcut to excel with the path to tm1.xla as argument: Q:\Office14\Office14\Excel.Exe “C:\Program Files (x86)\ibm\cognos\tm1\bin\tm1p.xla”
    The workdir should be:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\ibm\cognos\tm1\bin
    Help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Don't sequence the application all in one package. Use Dynamic Suiting Composition...
    For Smartview, I believe I sequenced this before. I had to exclude some folder related to Hyperion Smartview from the Roaming folder.

  • BB AIM app not working

    http://crackberry.com/rim-built-aim-client-being-replaced-aim-blackberry-app-built-aol#comment-11363...
    I have a BB Curve 3G with Sprint and app world says that the new AIM will not work on my device. Please advise.

    I tried everything but the App Store would never load. Tried dock icon (shortcut), tried App from Applications folder just in case the shortcut was bad, tried the App Store direct from the Apple Menu in top menu bar. I tried copying over the App Store App from TM backup that was prior to Mavericks and copy from TM after Maverics.  I finally installed Mavericks again using my jump drive (holding Option while restarting the Mac with the jump drive that has Mavericks Install inserted). I DID NOT wipe my Mac Hard Drive this 2nd time so it just installed over everything on my hard drive (kinda like upgrading Mavericks itself?). That worked. Not too painful - the reinstall took about 30 mins?

  • Run java program in task bar and create a shortcut

    Hi all,
    Do you have any idea about how to run a Java task in taskbar on windows. I am writing a application in Java and it needs to monitor mouse movements. I need to collect the file paths it selects and then drag and drop on Shortcut Icon on Desktop which finally triggers the actual GUI application written in Java where again these files are fed as input. If you have any Idea or suggessions about how to do this.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Ravikiran

    Ok..
    To create a shortcut on your desktop w2k/xp:
    1. right click on desktop, select new: Shortcut
    2. in "Type location of item" type:
       "javaw -classpath C:\ebjava\ DragTest"
       (Replace c:\ebjava\ with location of your Java app and DragTest with name of your app)
    3. Click next, and enter a name for your shortcut and click finishFor your Java app.. do something like this.
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class DragTest extends JFrame {
       JTextArea area;
       public DragTest () {
          area = new JTextArea();
          getContentPane().add(area, "Center");
          setBounds(0, 0, 400, 400);
          setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
       public void append(String s) {
          area.append(s);
       public static void main(String[] args) {
          DragTest test  = new DragTest();
          test.setVisible(true);
          if(args.length > 0) {
             for(int i = 0; i < args.length; i++) {
                test.append(args);
    test.append("\n");
    else {
    test.append("No args were supplied");
    When you drag files, or other shortcuts onto your shortcut the app will start and the full file name (including full path) will show up as a string argument. This is the best you're going to get.
    Hope this helps.
    Eric

  • App-V 5.0 SP1 application icons not showing up

    Hi,
    I've set up clean App-V 5.0 SP1 environment (Server, Sequencer and Clients). Published applications works when accessing them from %Localappdata%\Microsoft\AppV\Client\Integration\... folder, but for some reason the application shortcut icons are not showing
    up correctly either in start menu or in desktop (defined desktop folder for shortcuts in App-V Server settings just for test).
    So, there is this shortut on start menu, but it's not showing application icon and when opening shortcut properties it does not show application, it only shows "start in" folder (which is %localappdata%\etc..).
    I've tried this now on Windows 7, Windows 8 and on 2008R2 server (rds client). Same "error" appears on all machines, and application icon is not showing up correctly.
    Matti

    That sounds very strange. Have you checked out the event viewer logs? You should enable the Advanced view and check them out. Also may be worth while making a copy of the .appv file and renaming it to zip, opening up and looking for the shortcuts in the
    AppXManifest.XML file...see if you notice anything a miss there. Also the most obvious would be to take a copy of the package, open it for upgrade and ensure the shortcuts appear under Shortcuts and FTAs.
