SHORTCUTS in Audition CC

are the NEW shortcuts in Audition CC like in 3.0 where you just click on an ICON??? or are they "keystroke" shortcuts???
the shortcuts like in 3.0 were MUCH easier to use than keystrokes... and are the sole reason for me not upgrading to CC as of yet
thanx!!!

Icons are icons, shortcuts are shortcuts. Audition3 had more icons, but it also had keyboard shortcuts - which are invariably quicker. CC still has some icons, but it has way more keyboard shortcuts, which you can reassign to suit yourself if you want.

  • Is there a list of mac keyboard shortcuts for Audition 3.0?

Is there anywhere online where I can find a list of Mac keyboard shortcuts for Audition 3.0?  I would have thought it would be easy to find, but I've searched and haven't seen anything.  In particular, I'm looking for shortcuts to let me vertical zoom and a shortcut that moves the playhead back to the beginning in multitrack view.

With Audition 3.0 for Windows, vertical zoom in edit view can be done by right-click-drag on the vertical exist to select a region.  Incremental vertical zoom can be done by moving the mouse cursor over the vertical access, then using the track wheel to zoom in or out.  In multitrack view, if you use the track wheel in the main window, it widens all the tracks proportionately.
To move to the beginning or end (in both edit and multitrack views), use the Home and End keys.  In edit view, Ctrl-left arrow and Ctrl-right arrow also do this.  In multitrack view, the Ctrl-arrow keys move to the beginning and end of the audio clips, whereas the End key goes to the end of the overall piece (which may include silence after the last clip).
Most keyboard shortcuts can be assigned, cleared, or re-assigned.  In Windows this is done via the Edit menu item (for which the shortcut is Alt-k).

  • Audition 3.0 won't open

Good day.  I am using Audition 3.0 on Windows Vista Pro 32 bit.  I have been using it since 2009 with no problem until today.  When I try to open the application, I get an error message "Adobe Audition could not find a supported audio device.  Please check your device settings".  I have checked all of my device settings and all are working.  Yesterday I ran my monthly hard drive cleanup and mistakenly selected to delete Office Setup Files.  I did not notice the warning until later today that deleting these files may affect the operation of software programs.  I have tried restoring backup files from my backup service, but no change.  I have been chatting with tech support with no luck.  They tell me to uninstall and reinstall.  I have created several shortcuts in Audition and would hate to lose them.  Is there any hope to get this problem resolved without reinstalling?  Thanks for any help.

Yes Audition 3 is part of Adobe's CS2 series of software. See here for how to get hold of the non activation version for download.
Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
I cannot quite remember but I think that the keyboard shortcuts were stored somewhere in the Windows registry in version 3 of Audition and before. In later versions they are stored in the Settings folder with all other Audition settings.
Edit. They are here in the Registry.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Audition\3.0\Prefs\Keys\en_US\
    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1926477772-1907388819-4225725436-1001\Software\Adobe\Audition\3.0\Pref s\Keys\en_US\
So if you are happy using RegEdit you could find these two registry keys and export them so that you can reimport them when Audition is reinstalled.

  • Is there a possibility to adjust pre and postroll-time?

    Hello,
finally CS6 arrived and I am testing.
First impression: Very happy about the multiple clipboards!
Also, on first glance, the rest seems fine, better than 5.5.
    BUT!
Is there a more detailled way to adjust pre and post-roll times?
Did I get this right: You can mark a part of the clip and click a few seconds before or after this area to adjust the pre- and post-roll?
But what if I want pre-roll 0.5 sec and postroll 20 minutes?
If you now ask why I should want that?!?
This was my workaround in Audition 3 to get the cursor play over highlighted areas without stopping: I had pre-roll on 0 sec and post-roll on 999 sec.
When I edited some part of the waveform (e.g. amplifying) I highlighted the area, used the effect and hit the spacebar to play. Normally the cursor stopped at the end of the highlighted area and I had to click in the waveform again. But with pre and post-times I could just hit the play-button after using the effect and everything was fine. This saved much time.
So. Does anybody know a way (or workaround) to change the pre and post individually in CS6?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
    Simon

    Thank you ryclark,
this is definetely a good tip. I didn't know of the de-highlight-function with "g". I now made a macro with the logitech keyboard driver, making the space-bar a "space-plus-g"- bar.
I just have to remember to deactivate that makro when typing text
Perhabs some extra controller or another button on the keyborard might be handy as a stop/play toggle.
So, thanks again and all the best!
    Simon
    OFF-TOPIC:
Just got an idea about using my korg padkontrol as a controller for the keyboard shortcuts in audition.
Maybe this will be a new dimesnion in my workflow!
    Worth a try...

  • How to copy shortcuts, favorites, preferences etc. from Audition 2 to 3 ???

    HI folks,
I've just installed Audition 3 side by side to my Audition 2...
But I want to copy all the shortcuts, favourites and all that from 2 to 3 to be able to work like I'm used to already.
How can this be done ???

Keyboard shortcuts are stored in the Registry. They can be copied and pasted from the AA 2 part of the Registry to the AA 3 section if you know what you are doing with editing the Registry. Beware though that you can screw up your PC if you don't know what you are doing and haven't saved a backup!
The best way to find them is to open AA 2 and make a new favourite shortcut with an easily recognised name that is unlikely to be a real shortcut and then search the Registry for it.

  • Audit info for shortcuts in Designer 10g

    Hi,
I want to create a shortcut for a domain to a context container from an owning container, which is straightforward but I've noticed that domains which were previously 'shared' in Designer 6.0 (and which are now shortcuts in 10g following migration) don't display their audit info in the container to which the shortcut applies, it's blank now.
This is also the case for the one I just created the shortcut for, it was migrated from Designer 6.0. In Designer 6.0, by contrast, you see the audit info for the domain in its owning application system and in all application systems into which it's shared. Wondered if anybody knew why?
    Thanks,
    Antony

Sorry, I can't help with the SQL script, but regarding the Repository metamodel, have you seen the Schema Diagrams and the Repository and API Model Reference Guide on the Designer documentation page (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/designer/documentation.html) on OTN?

  • Premiere Pro keeps crashing when using overwrite (.) shortcut in Source Monitor

When editing a clip in the source monitor and then using the (.) key to overwrite the clip onto my timeline Premiere Pro keeps crashing. If I select the Timeline window and then press the (.) key it works fine, but if the Source Monitor is highlighted and I press (.) it crashes every time and shows these windows:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
    [/Volumes/BuildDisk/builds/mightykilt/shared/

It saves my current project as a copy, which is good, but I've now ended up with lots of copies of the same project as it keeps on crashing. In order to work I have to make sure that the Timeline is highlighted before I use the shortcut. It makes for very precarious and tense editing!

A crash with a very similar error message was fixed in the new CC release. The bug report in that case involved creating a multi-cam sequence, so it might not be directly related.
If you have a chance to download the CC trial, we'd be interested to know whether the crash remains in the new version.

  • What's New in Audition 3.0?

Don't have time now to get into how they help, but I would just like to say that there is MUCH improvment in Audition 3.0...I'd like to say this because I've heard lots of grumbling on other forums about 3.0 not being an upgrade at all over the previous versions 1.5 or 2.0, this is completely false, for me in particular the improvement in MT View (editing: collectively trimming, duplicate entire track and fading improvements) are indispensable.
and most people don't even mention any improvement aside from spectral view (which is pretty big in itself, isn't it?) spot healing etc...which I haven't even used yet.
I just want to say, they definetly made some good improvements, while they may not be overwhelming to some they are entirely useful in my situation and I think for most people they would come to see they are definite improvements if they used it long enough.

ah guh suk yuh dutty sket mudda bumbohole battybway!
It's a very helpful post because there is people who come to this forum when trying to decide to what recording software too purchase, and there's also people all over the internet who say that Audition is not better then Pro-Tools and more amateurish when in many regards it is more professional and has a better interface and GUI, especially if you're not doing too many tracks (less then 16 or perhaps more on a high end system). It's multi-track is easy and stays out of your way, has great automation, and some updated editing capabilities and has an excellent mbc that pro-tools does not have (maybe not excellent but very good)..and I believe pro-tools is a cpu hog doing certain things just like Audition is.
So people come to this site and I'm going to tell them the truth that it has been added to nicely since Adobe bought it and hopefully if people buy it will have another update to make the multi-track even better.  It has a few bugs and downsides but so does pro-tools, I think the upsides are greater then pro-tools.
The only downsides are the midi is a bit lacking compared to other programs which have been in the midi-game longer, and that it does use alot of cpu for certain efx, and the multi-track is better in some ways but not as advanced in others in terms of sequencing and arranging, it could improve in that area, loops and stretching loops to match each other then being able to record how you bring the loops in and out in a sequence like ableton but in it's own way then it would rule the world forever.

  • Strange Keyboard shortcut bug

I've got AA3 set up pretty much the way I want it, and I haven't added or modified any key bindings for some months.
But I wanted to add a shortcut for an effect I'm starting to use more often, and now I couldn't close the key binding form - I could only cancel my changes.
The key I originally wanted to bind was the H key. When I entered that into the key selection edit and tried to apply the change, I found I got a conflict error, with two other entries listed in the conflict box.
So without looking, I naturally manually searched all the bindings, but nowhere was the H key registered.
Then I looked at the conflict box more closely, and it seems that without any modification or warning, the Ctrl-W keybinding is all of a sudden being flagged as conflicting.
It hasn't been a conflict before now (or I would never have been able to close the dialog without the error blocking it, in which case any conflicts would have been reset to default, non-conflicting bindings).
So it's either an xml config corruption, or a bug in AA. Either way, it's not a big deal, but I'm quite surprised that in an otherwise stable configuration, a problem like this suddenly popped up from under the registry toadstool it was buried in.
It might have helped if I could manually modify (or even just verify) the key bindings outside of the application, but the keyboard binding/config mechanism AA uses is a real drawback when trying to sort out problems like this.
Unfortunately (for me), although I saved my 2-dozen or so keybindings under a separate entry in the dialog, and although the Ctrl-W key combination was one I didn't modify in that binding set, when I tried to restore my bindings AA crashed. The only workaround was to restart it, open the key dialog, and reset to factory defaults.
After only 12 minutes, I'm now back where I started from, and I can continue my edit. On the bright side, this is another instance of the fantastic Audition crash recovery mechanism restored all but the very latest 20 minutes of editing, so I've only lost 32 minutes' work. I'll take a win wherever I can.
I've taken some screendumps as I was going to report it as a bug, but the screendumps just look like I've made a mistake and the xml configs have all been reset. So this is just FYI now.

Sad to say, but the previous fix (CS5) of manually editing the .kys file (http://forums.adobe.com/message/2984641#2984753) doesn't work anymore with Illustrator CS6. The problem is widespread, present with many non-US keyboard.
Anyone can help with a new idea?

MIDI Sequencing and VSTi support is not available in Audition CS6.  There was a lot of primary feature development this cycle, and I would not have wanted to make the compromises to a MIDI environment that would have been necessary to squeeze it in this cycle.
MIDI composition support remains in our feature backlog and is considered for each release, but there are several reasons it doesn't typically bubble up higher in priority.  Audition and Cool Edit always shined as audio editing tools, and this has always been the focus of the team with MIDI support sort of an afterthought, but never our core competency.  With Audition 3, we built a basic MIDI Sequencer with VSTi support, but ran into some implementation speed bumps when plugging it into the existing playback engine that resulted in a less-than-great experience in my opinion.  It functioned, but I've never felt it held up to the other areas of Audition in terms of usability and simplicity.
I know there are those on the team - myself included - that would love to develop a full MIDI environment, and while it's never been a highly-demanded feature, I know plenty of users would like a basic composition workflow in Audition as well.  If we tackle this, I would hope we can take the time and resources to design a very competent interface that you enjoy using, and not just build something as a check mark on a feature list.  We can start a separate thread on this, perhaps in the Feature Request forum, and discuss in detail what sort of functionality and tools you would like to see in Audition to support MIDI and virtual instruments.

  • Preview pick shortcut changes desktop

    HI,
When I am using Audition in FCP X and previewing my clips using Control Option Y, I try to use Control left and right arrow to select different Picks while Previewing. However, instead of Previewing my Mac (Mountain Lion), changes desktops.
    Does anyone have a solution.
    Thanks

    Thanks Alchroma,
That's fixed it. For some reason the Keyboard Shortcut is Control left or right arrow. But if you forget control and just use the arrow key it works. Wierd!
    Thanks again

  • Bulk recording work flow in Audition CC (or CC 14)?

We are trying to record a lot of names, dates, numbers. I am trying to understand how to think about doing this in a multitrack recording.
I want to create a new track, enable it for recording, return the current time indicator to the "home" position. I checked preferences to see if there was a way to enable "record" on a new track. There isn't. Nor is their a keyboard shortcut (?)... I also want to remove/mute the previous track(s) so that I'm only monitoring/recording one at a time.
After I solve that dilemma—I want to export the tracks to files that are named from a spreadsheet. I am aware of a SHELL script that can do this in Finder (I'm on a mac) but I was wondering if there's any way to batch rename inside of Audition?
    TBD...
    Thanks.

You can set up a template in multitrack that would leave a single track set up and record-enabled. Have you considered that? Create the session exactly as you want it, then export it as a template and it will be available for use. It will also remember this as the last one used, so just starting a new multitrack recording would be all you needed to do.
But as ryclark says, I'd be more inclined to do loads as one file and split it.

  • Selected "Edit in Audition," audio track was split into two files. Preference change?[image included]

I have no idea what kind of shortcut key or preference I changed.
When I select any video on any premiere timeline to "edit in audition" i end up with the audio getting split into two wav files instead of one, as the red rectangular shows.  Instead of the single audio track to edit in which you can see in the blue rectangular.
***The blue rectangular I got when I dropped a video directly into audition.
Update: did some testing around in premiere, this issue only happens with clips that are on a timeline, but if I "edit in audition" from "project" (main folder with all material), I can edit it properly.

Its one file with two different dispalys.
You can pull the bottom one down by dragging it down or hit the very little triangle on the right side.

  • Can I save my Audition CC settings on Cloud?

Can I save my Audition CC settings on Cloud? keyboard shortcuts, preferences etc. that will save my a lot of time when I install Audition next time. thanks.

You can save the contents of C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\7.0 to wherever you like. Personally I wouldn't put it anywhere near the 'cloud' as I'd want it accessible to swap out. If you want to put the settings on another machine, I reckon that a USB stick would be a far better idea for moving them.
If you're using a Mac, the path will be different, but the principle is the same.
