Should Clients be able to access Wsuscontent folder share?

I was testing some MDT options for installing approved updates during the install task. One of the steps was to map to the WSUSContent folder on our wsus sever. Access was blocked by our firewall and the shares were not configured.
That got me thinking. Do clients need to be able to access this folder share to download the updates from WSUS? Are my clients currently downloading from MS based upon the approvals?

Clients DO NOT download from the share directly; the download is done via an HTTP GET file transfer call to http://wsusServer/Content/pathNameToFile.

Should I be able to access virtual host via localhost/site path?

I finally have been able to successfully set up a virtual host on my local host.
I can access http://localhost which redirects me to the http://localhost/xampp page and I can access my local site with http://nif.local/. I thought I had read that I should still be able to access my local nif site via http://localhost/nif.local. Is that correct? If so, what should I check since I get a 404 error via the second way? Purchases go in your library. They'll be listed in the main section for each type of content, and normally also in the Purchased playlist. Was the song ever in your library, or have you been totally unsuccessful in getting it to download?
I am tried of repurchasing songs. You should always be able to access any song you've bought in the past!
Unfortunately the content owners do not as of this time agree. All the major download stores have the same "one purchase one download" for content other than apps because the content owners require payment for every download whether or not it's a new purchase.
If you can post more details about your setup, software versions, and the exact nature of the problem, perhaps someone here can help you figure out what's going on.

Client not able to access EJB deployed in Oracle8i

After lot of pains, I was able to deploy EJB in the Oracle8i DB.
Now I am facing problems when the Client makes an request to get the reference of this deployed EJB.

XE Client not able to access XE Server database

I have installed Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Western European) OracleXE.exe on one Windows XP machine and Oracle Database 10g Express Client OracleXEClient.exe on onother. I have followed the instructions to set the Server to accept remote access by performing EXEC DBMS_XDB.SETLISTENERLOCALACCESS(FALSE); as SYSTEM. I can ping the machine running the XE Server (10.5.111.86) from my Client machine, yet I cannot access the remote XE Server using either http://10.5.111.86:8080/apex or from the SQL command line as connect SYSTEM/mypassword@//10.5.111.86:1521/XE. The http access ultimately yields a Page Not Found and the sql connect yields a ERROR:
ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred.

Can you telnet to it on port 8080?
Open a command prompt and type:
telnet 10.5.111.86 8080
you should see a blinking cursor. If not turn off all firewalls on the target machine and try again.

Rd client via rdweb cannot access local folder

hi,
i recently installed remote-desktop web-service on Windows 2008 R2 for remote user to access a non-proprietary Microsoft application.
the installation was made in one box include the application
a. Remote Dekstop Session Host
b. Remote Desktop Licensing
c. Remote Desktop Gateway
d. Remote Desktop Web Access
i have managed to configure it to allow internal and external users to access the application by using RDWeb.
there are 2 outstanding issues here:
1. i tested the RDWeb to access MS Office (Word/Excel) remoteapp and save a doc to local folder.
tried to save it into my local folder, but it always ended-up with an error :
"Network error: Windows cannot access \\tsclient\d\(any local folder given). You do not have permission to access \\tsclient\d\.. "
2. for non Microsoft remoteapp, is there a way (by Group Policy perhaps?) for rdweb-users to locate their local drive/folder within the application?
anyone has ideas to resolve it?

Not able to access gmail folder

Have a new Mac Air.
As part of setup integrated with my gmail account.
gmails now come into Mac email.
However :
i) After some time emails in inbox are automatically transferred to Gmail Folder
ii) Gmail folder is visible but unable to access or see the content. Can just see the number of emails in the folder
Any ideas ?

Mail.app downloads all of your emails and stores them locally. It does not access them when you click on the folder.
If you have a lot of emails, it may take a good deal of time to initially sync them. I would let Mail.app run in the background for a day or two so that it has time to sync.
If that doesn't work, I would try deleting the Gmail account in settings and re-creating it.

RV082 Remote Clients not Able To Access Server

I have a RV082 and several of my remote laptops cannot access my server using its domain name. It can be accessed using its internal ip address. The issue is that you can log onto the server using remote access and the ip however you cannot use any shortcuts using the domain name. You can see the server with the domin name however no access path is available. This is only on a few remote user laptops. Others work perfectly. Does anyone have any advise?

You say some of your remote laptops can't access server via name and some can. How are the computers than can connect to servers name different from the ones that can't?
what connection type are the remote user using to connect to your network?
They using vpn software located on RV082?
IPsec / PPTP both ?
What's the subnet's that the remote computers are remote from ?
whats the local subnet of RV082?
Is the subnet's the same on remote computer as the RV082 ?
What's the WAN type (public) (private ) ip address ?
What's the topology of your network ?

Kernel Panic and Application Crashes when Accessing a Folder

Hi,
I originally posted in the iTunes forum (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=252516&tstart=75) with this problem as it was in iTunes where I first noted the issue. However since then I have discovered it is a system wide issue.
Everytime I try to access a specific folder, my iTunes Music folder, whichever application is accessing it will crash. Finder crashes when trying to view the folder, and other apps will crash when trying to open from or save to that folder. There will be no crash reporter when they crash either. I have also experienced two kernel panics, one when iTunes was playing, and another when Tech Tools Pro was doing its surface scan. The folder is on one of my two FW800 connected external hard drives. The kernel panic looks like this:

I am not entirely sure as to what this means or how to deal with it. I am able to access the folder via terminal, but there are 2700 folders within my iTunes Music folder and 23137 songs, so it could take me a very long time to find the exact file or folder which is causing me problems. I could potentially have enough disk space should a backup be required but it would be backed up to 3 different drives and would be close. That is assuming of course that I would not experience the same panic when accessing the area. Can anyone help me with this?

The first phase:
Since the Kernel Panic is temporarily a state of suspended animation because of a safe-boot solution, try the next step. This is a pre-caution to avoid any failures during ongoing troubleshooting.
After safe-boot, launch System Profiler and select /Software/Extensions/ directory in Contents (on the left column ) menu. Next, open /System/Library/Extensions/ folder by Go to Folder command or by manual. Compare the both contents. You'll see System Profiler shows less kernel extensions than /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. There are ".kext" files that are not shown in the loaded Extensions directory. If there is a most suspect third-party extension (perhaps FireWire's driver), try removing out of the folder to a temporary made folder on the desktop-- you may be prompted the admin or login password.
The second phase:
TechTool Pro fixed a file structure error in one file on the main drive, and some bad custom icons or bad bundle bits error now lie on on the main and one of your secondary drives, but not the previous problems. Also, you still cannot access that folder, however folders within that folder you can get to just fine, via the Go To Folder command or reveal in finder from iTunes.
Those symptoms appear to suggest that some directories structure and the volume information other than the main drive have lost their consistencies and a directory may be no longer accessible for some reason which happened before or during the Kernel Panic. Techtool Pro 4.0.6 seems to not be able to fix those problems. So if you have DiskWarrior 3.0.3, run it and hopefully fix them. If you do not have it, try the followings.
Connect the external FireWire drive in question, then boot into a Safe-mode. If this does not work well, first boot into a Safe-mode then connect the device.
Launch Terminal utility. Type diskutil list at the prompt. Here is an example to be displayed:

Find the disk identifier that points the external device in question. Type sudo fsck_hfs -fy /dev/disk1s3 if the target drive would be disk1s3. If the result shows you like below, the symptoms may be fixed.

If the above solution fails, boot into a Single-user-mode and perform the same way as above-- a "sudo" parameter MIGHT not be needed to type.
The third phase:
Start up from Mac OS X 10.4.x Install disc. Launch Disk Utility program. Try repairing the target volume(s) on the external device and then repair the permissions.
If the above solution fails to fix all filesystem problems on that volume, then you may need to abandon hope some file or folder in question to trash it/them. Of course, I do not hope so.…
Also, when I booted into Safe Mode it started up the volume menubar item as usual but I had no sound... Is this normal during a Safe boot?
Certain Mac OS X features do not work when you are started up in Safe Mode. For example, you can't use DVD Player, capture video in iMovie, use an AirPort card, use audio input or output devices, or use an internal or external USB modem.
So it should be no problem on this matter.

Accessing trash folder causes folder to lock on server?

I've been having this problem. I hope someone can help with some advice:
My workplace IMAP account's trash folder is named "deleted-messages". I use this folder to store my trashed messages on my IMAP server. In Apple Mail, I had mapped this successfully as the Trash folder for about 2 years already. I've been happily using Apple Mail during this time.
A couple of days ago, I could no longer access my deleted-messages folder:
1. each time i deleted a message, Apple Mail would tell me it could not move the message to the 'deleted-messages' folder.
2. each time i tried to view the folder's contents, Apple Mail would not respond and would show me the 'spinning beachball' until I forced a quit.
But I have not had a problem using other email clients (Thunderbird and Pine).
When I logged into my workplace server through a command prompt, I noticed a "deleted-messages.lock" file in my mail directory. I deleted the lock file, and all my other clients are able to access my deleted-messages and delete my mails correctly. However, when I access "deleted-messages" (or Trash) using Apple Mail, I get the same 2 problems listed above, and a new ".lock" file is created in the mail directory.
I can't seem to get around this - I have completely deleted my account in Apple Mail and recreated one, but the same problem arises.
Can someone help me understand what's going on?

What about translating the traffic on the local ASA (Active unit) for traffic received from the VPN tunnel to the internal interface IP address? You can try something like nat (outside,inside) source dynamic obj-VpnRemoteTraffic interface destination static StandbyIP StandbyIP

Let users access personal folder when using webdav on iPad

Hi,
I am setting up Lion server so users on an Active Directory network can access webdav folders from iPads.
I have got this working fine when accessing a shared multi user folder.
I want users to also be able to access their own personal folders, with no one else being able to access the folder.
I can share the Users folder but this will give each user access to other users folders how can I fix this?

Accessing SMB/Windows Shares on OS X

I have an invisible windows share called public$, which I allow anyone to (read-only) access on my network. But to be able to access it on a mac I had to give it a password. Are there anyways around this password problem? On windows machines I am able to access this folder without the need for authentication which is what I want since this is read-only and contains documents for general public use which I need the public to automatically have access to it without the need for authentication.

SMB never really likes symbols in shares.
A couple of things. Is this part of a Windows Domain (200,2003, 2008) or part of a Home network? Plus make sure the Mac and Windows machine are using the same Time Server. I have an email attachment that I would like to be able to access when NOTconnected. I found one suggestion that I should open the attachemtn iniBooks and save it there. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do that.

I am trying to store an email attachment (an Excel spreadsheet) somewhere on my iPhone 5 to be able to access it easily in the future. I do not need the ability to work on it, just to access it, although it would be convenient if i could load updated versions over it on a regular basis. The spreadsheet was created in Excel on a laptop with Win 7. I read one posting that said I should save the document to iBooks and then could open it whenever I wanted. The same posting refered to something in the upper right corner of the attachment that enabled me to save it to iBooks. Unfortunately, there is no such option showing when I looked at the file, which I did email to myself. I was able to open the attachment, but can't get beyond this point. My tech ability doesn't go much beyond being able to power up my phone, so I need a really simple solution, if one exists.

First of all, Excel file can't save to iBook. (iBook only can view PDF files). That's why you don't see it in "open in" options. In order for you to save excel, you will need a third party app like Numbers, Office2. There are a few free apps that can use to view. I used Office2 from Byte2, because I can not only store and view later, I can do some edit too. Especially when you want to edit a few numbers and re send them to my office or clients will be very useful for me.
