Should configuation on new ipad2 out of box take a long time?
Just purchased Ipad 2 It's in configuration now - and has been for over an hour. It started at 80% and is now 77%. The screen goes black and when I press the home button, I slide the bar to continue configuration. My question is: Should this take so long and is it working even when the screen is dark? Thank you.

I am having same problem with apple tv need 4.4 version and can not find solution this a brand new product out of box yesterday why would it not already have updated version. New LUN Takes A long Time To Format and Errors Out
Good afternoon,<o:p></o:p>
I have a Hyper-V Cluster composed of 4 nodes and these nodes are able to access multiple CSVs (14 in total). I recently requested a new LUN (LUN 15)to be provisioned
to my Hyper-V cluster in the size of 500GB. Here is my problem:<o:p></o:p>
1. Formatting of a 500GB LUN (with quick format selected) should not take more than a few seconds. Instead, the quick format takes about 2hrs if not longer. I have actually
seen it go for half the day.<o:p></o:p>
2. Once the formatting has completed (no errors), taking the formatted LUN offline freezes the Computer Management screen and shows the status (Not Responding). This
will take place for 30 minutes or less and show that the LUN has been taken offline.<o:p></o:p>
3. In the Failover Cluster Manager, detecting the disks takes about 15 minutes. Once the available LUNs have been detected I can add the 500GB LUN to the Disks screen
without any problems.<o:p></o:p>
4. While in the Disks screen, adding the LUN to the Clustered Shared Volumes takes about 5 minutes (too long).<o:p></o:p>
Already seeing that there is a problem, I went ahead and used the Hyper-V Manager to create a 200GB vhd on the new LUN which has been added to the CSV. The bar indicating
the progress of the vhd creation does not display any progress (no green progress bar appears, not even a tiny bit of it) and after 3 hours (more or less) I receive an error, stating that the creation of the vhd failed.
<o:p>NOTE: The vhd shows up in Volume 9 (LUN 15) but I can only bet that it will not work, plus I would not want to work with a vhd file which failed during the
creation process.</o:p>
<o:p>Long story short, I repeated the above steps to see if that was a temporary problem, but it is not. The same problem occurs no matter which Hyper-V cluster
node the operations are performed on. I would like to add, that I tested the creation of a vhd on an already configured LUN and the creation was completed successfully, and within a n expected time frame.</o:p>
NOTE: When LUN 15 errors out, it's status shows "Failed" in the Failover Cluster Manager. This in turn, causes the re-scanning of available disks to take forever (in Computer Management) and it keeps searching. Pretty
much, the fail of one LUN affects the entire functionality of the entire Hyper-V Cluster.

I installed firefox 4 and it starts slow but every function I try causes the term (not responding) on top and it can take several minutes for the function to finish executing. Alt-tabbing out of games take very long... about 5 seconds... the screen turns black i never had this problem in win 7 or 8.1.

Does this issue happen in Windows 10 Technical Preview or not?
If you don't start the game, and press alt-tab to switch between other applications, does it have a delay?
Meanwhile, update the graphic driver to make the game more smoothly.

File Dialog Box often takes a long time to execute
Hi all
The Labview File Dialog Box Express VI sometimes takes 5 to 10 seconds to execute. On other occasions, it executes in a blink of an eye. Why is that so?
I have tried to use the older Open/Create/Replace File VI as suggested in one of the forum's posts...but it behaves exactly the same way. Another problem is the trimming of the filename, which has also been reported and has NOT YET been solved.
(By the way...Recently, I updated to LV 2012 SP2 by suggestion of the NI Update Manager, only to find out that I was not entitled to this SP (which apparently only includes bug fixes) and I will have to roll back to LV 2012. Still, in the evaluation version I can see that the bug is not fixed. Labview must have a lot of serious bugs for NI to ask for a paid bug fix, in which some bugs remain after having been reported a long time ago..well...)
What worries me now is that intermittent lag in the execution of the File Dialog (such a basic basic function of a program...). Anyone have any idea about this? The support menu said "Ask an engineer"...any of the NI engineers has any suggestion?

The file dialog is provided by the OS, so if it is slow it is not LabVIEW's fault.
What kind of computer do you have? Is this a laptop that spins down the HD to save power? In this case it needs to wait for the HD to spin up. (You can change the windows power profile or you can spend more money and get an SSD).
Are you very low on memory?
Does your LabVIEW program waste 100% CPU in parallel doing nothing due to bad coding?
Are you pointing to a location that has millions of files?
Are you pointing to a network location?

I understand that the File Dialog is provided by the OS. But I have other applications on my PC and this doesn't happen - just in Labview. Sorry! And sometimes it
doesn't happen. Every 10 times I open the File dialog Box, 5 times it takes long and 5 times it is immediate.
(I am not low on memory, my coding is not bad>-look at the VI I sent, it just contains the fragment which uses the File Dialog Box and it behaves the same way! I am pointing to the same location that the other applications point to, I am not pointing to a network location, the PC is not spinning the disk down, etc etc.)
But yes, I will try it on another PC
(There was another post on the forum on this issue, but can't seem to find it now, just find my own post )

What problem is that? Can you elaborate? There is a known bug in the windows dialog box that sometimes the pre-filled file names are shifted and not fully visible. This is a windows bug documented by Microsoft and LabVIEW has no control over it. It is not NIs job to fix OS problems.

If it is a windows bug, we will have to live with it.
A previous post on your forum did not provide me with that information (http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/File-dialog-trimming-the-default-name/td-p/2189874). The fact that it is a windows bug was not mentioned there.

Patches are included, service packs are not included. I think this is well documented. Most users are on SSP, this way you are always entitled to the newest version.
As with anything else, software has bugs. It is impossible to test a huge, complex system like LabVIEW under all scenarios. The possible number of combinations of hardware and other installed software on any particular computer probably exceeds the number of atoms in the universe. It is actually amazing how few bugs there are and how well it works. What "bug" are you talking about? Bugs are prioritized according to rules. Critical bugs are typically fixed very quickly. A cosmetic issue that only affects you and nobody else will take longer or might not even get fixed. Are you talking about a confirmed bug that could be reproduced by NI? Do you have a CAR#?

That sentence makes no sense! Why would the number of serious bugs depend on the cost of upgrading?? You are just rambling here....
In an ideal world, NI would have an unlimited number of programmers that can work 24/7 to immediately fix any discovered bug. This would only be possible if all users are willing to pay an unlimited amount of money for the software. As I mentioned, bug fixes are free in the form of patches, and they come out regularly. Service packs include new features and are not free.

Now I have a 45 days evaluation version. After that, I have to uninstall and reinstall everything.That takes some time and effort.

Prelude takes a long time to open a (new) project file
Hi,
I'm trying out Prelude, and I've created a new project and ingested (via link) about 20 hours of Canon XF footage in about 1000 files from an internal hard drive. All the media loaded correctly and all the audio peak files were generated.
When I close and reopen Prelude and try to open that project, the "loading project" window pops up, the progress bar proceeds to completion over a few seconds, and the window goes away. The issue is that Prelude is then unresponsive for the next ten or fifteen minutes! I can see the entire interface, but nothing responds. I can see the clips listed, but their thumbnails are not loaded. Windows System Monitor tells me Prelude is actively using CPU and accessing the disk. After 10-15 minutes, the thumbnails appear and I'm able to use Prelude, but this seems like a LONG time to load a not-so-big project on a pretty new system. Is this normal?
My system has one of the new i7-4770k processors, 16 GB of RAM, a Samsung 840 SSD for the system drive, and an internal Seagate 3TB 7200 RPM drive as the media drive for this project, so I would expect loading to be pretty snappy. While Prelude is unresponsive, system monitor shows it using 15-20% CPU, 11 GB of RAM, and only 5-10 MB/s disk access. I've tried recreating the project file from scratch several times, with the same result every time.
Is this wait time normal? Is there any way I can speed it up?

I tested out Prelude with approximately half of the same footage of my
larger project. It still had a brief unresponsive period but,
interestingly, the relationship to the amount of footage didn't seem to be
linear. Whereas a project with all the footage takes 10 minutes, this one
only took about a minute.
I should also point out that, although this is all Canon XF footage and all
the media is in numbered subdirectories with metadata like on the card,
they are not contained within the "CLIPS001" directory that your Canon XF
importer uses to identify XF media. Therefore, when I import them, the
import dialog doesn't identify the media directories as such. I don't know
whether that makes a difference, just wanted to try to help narrow it down
in any way I can.

Im an old apple user who likes keeping all his devices up to date. I ordered and iPhone 5 white and unfortunately it was chipped from 3 different places right out of the box. Now come my replacement white iphone 5 which is supposed to be fine. It has barely been a few hours i took it out of the box and there is a small chip on the screen. Note: chips on the first phone were on the aluminium frame where the screen seem is. Im writing this review just disappointed in my trust for the company thinking i will let it slide and keep using my chipped phone till a better android phone comes in and this one breaks properly. Any other people having this issue? I know getting two defective devices is beyond bad luck. I have pictures of the damages along with the imei if anybody wants to see?

Take the device to an Apple store and exchange it or contact Apple Customer support to arrnage an exchange.

Alright, the topic basically describes what my problem is. This only pertains to my iPod video. Just bought it, opened it, started up computer and iTunes 7 (just updated) (I've had a nano for 5+ months) and plugged it in. It didn't show up. Didn't appear under devices but Windows does normally recognize it.

This may be drive letter confusion in Windows. try assigning your video iPod a different drive letter, following these steps:
Log off of any other users on your computer.
1 - Don’t plug in your iPod yet.
2 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
3 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
4 - Now, with "Computer Management" and Control Panel windows opened, reset your iPod, and connect it.
5 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Here's what it should look like:
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).

Just opened box and started using Mac Mini (OS X 10.8.1), Late 2012, Core i5. When trying to update iLife product, was given message that update to 10.8.2 was required. Tried to update, but was given message that Volume does not meet the requirements.
Your computer requires a special Mountain Lion version that it's not available right now, so you have to wait until Apple launches it again

30gb ipod video. brand new. just out of box and won't turn off
I did everything as the instructions said. I installed the software then connected the ipod. It will not turn off, so naturally it won't reset. It is stuck on the screen with different languages and i don't see how re-installing the software is going to help me turn off the ipod. I feel like an idiot now for buying one.

She also mentioned if I had an apple store here I could take it in it may be faster, we just had a new apple store that opened in our mall so I took it in, talked to the tech and he pushed the button to see what I meant, then he says yeah this is broken and dented from pushing so hard on it, I said it wasn't really dented that bad just the middle, it came that way, then he's says well we aren't actually a apple store we just sell there product here so you are best to go with Apple and send it too them like they said, I was dumbfounded I honestly think he made this worse when he pushed on it, now I am scared when apple receives me iPad they won't replace it like they said, it was bought this way apparently a bad lot went into the store my husband got it and they told everyone to call apple to replace because they don't replace electronics, I am freaked out now I feel screwed all the way around, what do you think Apples reaction will be, how good is their customer service in Canada when sent away? Big issue? Really? I'm on this forum just about every night and yet, I have not seen posts about such a "Big" issue with any regularity. If your iPad was dented when you got it (sorry for not really believing you), why did you wait until just now to try bringing this to anyones attention? My guess is you dented the iPad. Initially it wasn't an issue, but after pushing on the volume control too hard, it is an issue and you want a free replacement. I'm probably right on the money and you'll likely have a not too kind reply. That's OK, because I'm not the one who will decide the outcome of this. Apple will and for you to get an answer, take it to Apple. But, don't be too surprised when they don't offer a free replacement and they offer you an "out of warranty" replacement at about 50% of the cost of the device when it was new.
