Should Enhanced Turbo still work on H87-G43 for non-k i7-4770?

Having a similar issue to the one described here ( https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=172887.msg1258722#msg1258722 ) but this is on a H87-G43 with a non-k i7-4770. The feature used to work fine with all 4 cores going to 3.9 GHz on turbo but, with the stock cooler that I was using, thermal throttling became an issue on high workloads (e.g. AIDA64 stress test, handbrake, etc.).
So, I disabled Enhanced Turbo and I ordered a Hyper 212 Evo which I only recently installed. I turned Enhanced Turbo back on but now it seems that Enhanced Turbo is offering nothing extra over normal turbo with the 4 cores only hitting 3.7 GHz under load and not the 3.9 GHz that they used to reach. Hardware is the same (except the cooler, which has no effect) so I presume that it must be BIOS-related.
I'm running latest v2.5 BIOS for the board and have changed the Core Ratio Limits manually to value of 39 but still no joy. Does anyone else have this issue on H87-G43 with a non-k i7-4770? Can anyone confirm that the feature is working for them with a non-k i7-4770 (or any non-k CPU) on a H87-G43 with this latest v2.5 BIOS?

Ok, so I've done numerous BIOS flashes and here's what I have found:
Rather like the user in this topic ( https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=172887.msg1258722#msg1258722 ), I found that the Enhanced Turbo worked correctly on the H87-G43 and i7-4770 with default Auto settings up to BIOS v2.3 (2013-06-07). The clock multiplier was set to 39 allowing turbo operation at 3.9 GHz on all cores.
With the introduction of BIOS v2.4 (2013-08-16), again similar to the other user, it is necessary to manually set the 1/2/3/4-Core Ratio Limit values (found in the CPU Features sub-menu of the OC Menu) to the value of 39 in order to allow turbo operation at 3.9 GHz on all cores.
Using BIOS v2.5 (2013-09-23), no matter what settings, it does not seem possible to allow turbo operation at 3.9 GHz on all cores with an i7-4770. It would seem the feature has either been accidentally or deliberately disabled in this latest BIOS. I'll raise it directly in a support ticket to MSI and in the meantime I will stay on BIOS v2.4 which is the most recent BIOS that allows me to get the most out of my CPU and new cooler.
Thanks again to xmad for his help and advice. Hopefully this post will save time and effort for other users with similar issues.

  • Z87-G45 BIOS version 1.4 - Enhanced Turbo not working

    Hi,
I have a MSI Z87-G45 Gaming that I have been putting through its paces for the past few weeks, paired with an Intel Core i7-4771 (3.5GHz, 3.9GHz single core turbo, 3.7GHz all-core turbo). It's been great so far, but I have a puzzle on my hands that I have not been able to explain.
Yesterday, happy with the results of various tests I had been running, I started on my final build. Before OS installation, I checked around to see if any new driver or firmware packages had been released since I had last downloaded them a few weeks ago. There was a new BIOS release - version 1.4 - which I grabbed and flashed. I did not pull the BIOS battery afterwards, but I did load the BIOS defaults before configuring things.
Everything appeared to be fine, but today I noticed that the "Enhanced Turbo" option in the BIOS does not appear to be working correctly. Under BIOS version 1.3, CoreTemp, RealTemp and CPU-Z all reported a multiplier of 39x with all cores fully loaded. With BIOS version 1.4, the processor hits 39x with a single-threaded task but drops to 37x with all cores loaded - I.e. it is behaving according to its standard Turbo profile.
I'm not interested in overclocking this system which is why I didn't buy a K-series processor in the first place - everything on the BIOS OC tab is default/auto except for the DRAM which is using a XMP profile - but the extra 200MHz per core is rather neat and something I would like to have.
Is anyone else using BIOS version 1.4 experiencing similar issues? If not, any thoughts on where the issue might lie would be most welcome.
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming - EIST enabled, Intel Turbo Boost enabled, Enhanced Turbo enabled
    Intel Core i7-4771
    Kingston Genesis 8GB DDR3-1600 (KHX16C9/8) (x4 for 32GB total)
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

I've finally cracked it, so I thought I would add my findings to this thread in case anyone else runs into the same issue.
Under BIOS version 1.3, simply enabling Enhanced Turbo was apparently all that was needed to permit all cores to run with the highest multiplier.
Under BIOS version 1.4, this no longer appears to be the case. Although this setting lifts the multi-core Turbo Boost restrictions, Intel's default profile is still applied, in my case limiting the CPU to a multiplier of 37x with all cores fully loaded.
In addition to enabling Enhanced Turbo, the ratio limits under OC > CPU Features must be manually specified. With BIOS version 1.3, I had left these on their Auto setting and the highest multiplier had automatically been used. With 1.4, I had to manually select the highest multiplier to override the default Turbo Boost profile and get the desired result.

  • Is Apple still working on a fix for PC?

Because I'm starting to feel it's all a ploy to get people to buy macs.
    It used to work right.
P.S...... for every PC/itunes user posting with problems on this board, there's many more of us lurking & waiting for the solution that works to appear on here.

"Is Apple working on a fix for PC?" is actually my question, too.
I'm one of those who has been lurking around for a while reading fixes and suggestions without previously posting. I had previously installed every update of iTunes since 4.7 without any issue. My iPod (a 40g photo) has the newest updates installed. My situation was the seemingly succesful install of the 5.0.1 update at first, then the connection to iPod/ 'please reinstall' error that reinstalling did not correct, and then it stopped working at all.
I was relieved to find this forum and tried every fix I found here... uninstalled completely (including a reg clean), checked my admin login, made sure my Windows XP was completely updated, disabled my antivirus even though I didn't have the file that's supposed to be the problem, disabled firewall, downloaded QT standalone and installed, downloaded iTunes and installed, plenty of restarts in between (always disabling antivirus), etc. Hours gone, same problem. I was eventually able to reinstall 4.9 successfully and re-import my library using a renaming fix found on this site, and that's been working fine for a week or so.
The only issue is that I did have to give my copmuter a second permission to play my iTunes-purchased songs, so I do feel a bit like I was cheated out of my five computer allowance. Are there any possible fixes for this?
Now I've been surfing back through these topics to see if there is any word that Apple is working on the problem or assurance that future updates won't have these issues. I really can't spend another two or three days trying to install an iTunes update that won't work. How will I know if the problem is fixed and a new version is safe to try again? Does anyone know anything about this?
    Thanks.

  • Condition JEXC not working in Pricing procedure for Non Set Off

    Hi,
While creating PO in case of Dealer procurements i; e we are not buying the materials from the direct manufacturer but from dealer  we need to have BED other than 8%(maintained in J1ID).
I am using the condition type JEXC in the Pricing procedure which is used to overwrite the value of BASIC Excise Duty in   the Tax procedure. For this I have added JEXC in our Pricing procedure with subtotal as "5".
JEXC value in the Condition tab becomes the value of JMO1/JMO2 in the invoice tab.
Now for Set off cased it is working fine. I used to put value in the JEXC in the condition tab other than actual 8% value and it overwrites the value of BED(JMO1/JMO2) .
But for Non set off cases it not working correctly.  It overwrites the value of BED(JMO1/JMO2) correctly but the SECSS % becomes zero. Can anyone suggest me the way I can go for non set off case .

I found my iPhone on the side of the on-ramp thanks to "Find my iPhone". It was within 5 feet of where it had been tracked.

  • Does H87M-E35 have "Enhanced Turbo"?

I found "Enhanced Turbo" in H87M-E33.
    http://www.msi.com/support/mb/H87ME33.html#down-manual
    > Enhanced Turbo [Auto]
    > Enables or disables Enhanced Turbo function for all CPU cores
    > to boost CPU performance.
Does H87M-E35 have "Enhanced Turbo" too?
We can't see a detailed manual for H87M-E35.
    http://www.msi.com/support/mb/H87ME35.html#down-manual
    One more thing:
I know Intel updated CPU microcode to block H87/B85 overclocking.
    http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2013/07/25/intel-overclocking-block/1
Does MSI's "Enhanced Turbo" still work?

    I've checked H97M-G43's manual.
    http://www.msi.com/support/mb/H97MG43.html#down-manual
    It doesn't have Enhanced Turbo.
Maybe it was blocked by Intel.

MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo Battery shows nothing but still works, why?

Thanks for your response. I reset the SMC and am now seeing an improvement. The battery shows the correct number of charge cycles in the system profiler and the status is showing a charging state now on the menu bar. Thanks again for your response.

  • Enhanced Turbo don't work with I7-4770?

    Hi,
my MB is Z87-G45 which have Enhanced Turbo feature in BIOS. as I know this feature can make all 4 cores of I7-4770 to max speed as single core (3.9G hz). but seems when I enable it (also enabled normal Intel Turbo Boost), the max 4 core with full load speed still 3.7G rather than 3.9G, only when full load one core the speed can go to 3.9G. is there anything wrong with the BIOS?

    Quote from: jms45 on 23-October-13, 21:01:07
I was agreeing with you remus and following up on my previous post
regardless though I don't need to force my multiplier to x39 for enhanced turbo to take all my cores to 3900 as I said in my 1st post I reset my bios to defaults so everything on auto and enabled only enhanced turbo to verify it was working, and using aida64 stress test I could see all cores at 3900 with 100% load on all.
That's exactly what "Enhanced Turbo" does: it forces the Core Ratio Limit to 39 for all the 4 cores.
And I know your processor is an unlocked one (4770K)

  • H87-G43 Gaming and i5 4570 max turbo on cores

    hello all.
Iam trying since yesterday to max my turbo mode @ all cpu cores via bios. I did put enchance turbo on auto/enable and i also tried to put manual x36 in each cpu multi. Every time the cores went up to 3.4 . I have read that with old bios it is possible to push all cores @ maximum turbo speed on H87-G43. My bios version is v11.0 . If anyone could help me out i will be very happy.
Thanks and nice to meeting you all

    You have a 4570? Not the 4570K?
    Only Z87 boards can overclock.
Early H87 BIOS versions could overclock but only with K CPUs. Those BIOS versions were update with a new microcode from Intel to fix a loophole in the B and Hseries boards.
If you had a K series CPU and you were prepared to flash a BIOS pre August 2013, then you had a chance of doing this. Even then there would have been no guarantee.
If you wanted to be certain of OC'ing, you should have opted for the Z board and K CPU.

  • Will baby oil kill macbook pro? It is still working and I do not know if I should do anything orr just pray?

In a bedroom accident, the wife and I spilled baby oil into my MacBook Pro. (let the jokes begin)
Amazingly, it still works fine. I know that is a scented mineral oil and that it is not too conductive.
I took it to our local apple dealer, who said it only has a month to live. While I never thought it would even start, I am now wondering if he was right.
Would you please address the folowiing questions
    1. Should I do anything? if so, what?
    2. Should I expect it to continue to live?
    3. Is there any REAL danger other than killing the computer?
I have already backed up data, and am draining tthe oil to the best of myy ability.

Surprisingly enough, a popular project is for people to make systems completely submerged in mineral oil.  It is a very poor conductor:
    http://www.google.com/search?q=mineral+oil+computer&sugexp=chrome,mod=9&sourceid =chrome&ie=UTF-8
The problem is that those systems are designed to remain in the oil.  Once you get something like oil on a system that's used in a more traditional sense, you can expect dust and other contaminants to build up quickly.  There's not really much you can do to prevent that.  Over time, that build up can result in cooling or other issues.  If it gets in fans or other moving parts, over time, build up can cause them to fail as well.

Bring your phone and $199 to the Apple store for an out of warranty exchange of your phone.  You clearly broke it when you dropped it.

I believe you need to have XP with Service Pak 3 as a minimum for most CS6 applications.  You should check all of the system requirements because I think you also need to have a 64-bit machine as well.   Here is a link...
