Should I add a new credit card?
Background: I am rebuilding my credit since returning from several years living over seas. In Dec of 2014 my FICO score was in the low 500's and I had 6-7 derogatories on each report all almost 7 years old. I have not had any activity credit wise for the last 7 years since cedit lendors in my newly adopted country seemed happy to give me loans without checking my US credit. Since I have been back I have PFD'd, DV'd and EE'd everything to death with great success and I am down to 3-4 items which will be dropping off in the next couple of months so I am looking forward to a huge jump in my score soon, which is now appraching the mid 600's. All of my current accounts were opened since January. I have two secured credit cards $200, a Credit Care dental/medical card for $800, a car loan for $8500, the balance of which is now ~$7000. I pay off my CC balances every month. There are several older accounts all in good standing from 1995-2007 still on my record. At least one of my CR's shows a slightly high number of hard inquiries. With a 630ish FICO score I am now starting to get the "pre-selected" unsecured CC offers in the mail. My question is should I sacrifice the added inquiries to gain a card that will report to all three CRA's? I see some people on here with like $300,000 combined available credit from several CC's. What is the "right" amount? Thanks in advance. Joe
What i would recommend to do (based on personal experience, not professional advise)... Stay away from the major companies for now because you do not want to set a low precedent with them. Wait until all baddies are off your report before trying with the major credit card companies. After your baddies are removed, refinance your auto with DCU. When you apply for the refi, they will probably offer a credit card also. Whatever the credit limit is, ask them for more. They will use the same hard pull to determine your eligibility. After you refi with DCU, apply for a "good credit" credit card such as a Quicksilver One. Some people have reported success with geting two cards from the same bank at once while only getting your score pulled once (for one or all three bureaus). Regarding your question about a high available credit... There's no right amount. Some people have a high amount available to decrease your utilization percentage when you need to keep a balance on your credit card. Say you have a combined available credit of $4,000. An unxpected car A/C breakdown costs you $2500 in cash that you do not have forcing you to charge it. You're now well above 50% credit utilization which is bad for your score. Having a much higher combined available credit will lessen that impact. If you have a total of $10,000 avaiable credit, that would bring you to 25% utilization. A general rule of thumb is to keep your utilization under 30%. It's best to keep all your cards at zero balance except for one at less than 10% utilization for that individual card. Some people have high $300k limits simply for bragging rights. Some do have it because it's addicting. Once your credit score rebounds, it's fun applying for and getting approved for high limits and low APR's that you once could never get.

How do I add a new credit card to my account
How do I add a new credit card to my account?
If you are doing it on your iPad then try tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and select 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account, and on your account's page there should be a payments link.
On your computer's iTunes you should be able to do it by going into the Store > View Account menu option and logging into your account, and on your account's details page there should also be a payment link. -
I guess it has been a year since I last purchased something on I-tunes and my account is saying that they couldn't authorize my card for some of my purchases. I am trying to add a new credit card to clear this up and it keeps saying that I have to enter a valid security code. I have tried 2 different cards and I get the same thing. I have also added an I-tunes gift card and that isn't clearing up the money that I owe. It is showing that I have a $25 credit for that. How do I fix this, I have been trying for days and all I have got from the e-mail tech support is that its my credit card issuer that is causing the problem. Thats not correct because one of the credit cards that I am trying to use, is a prepaid Visa gift card. I know that these work on I-tunes because I have used them before in the past. I am getting very frustrated with this whole process, I just want to clear up my account and buy some new music!! HELP!!
You probably ran into blocks & locks.

My credit card expire. I can't login to Adobe Connect for add my new credit card for payments. What can I do?
Oh dear...
You must be accessing the iTunes Store in the U.S. You can't buy an iTunes card in your country (i need to know this), so try making a new account with the payment option as a Visa Credit Card. Have you bought that Pre-paid Visa credit card yet and loaded money on it? If you haven't, you will probably have to. -

My god! this service is really crap in some ways. I honestly cannot get to add a new credit card to my account. I am being told that I have to cancel my subsrciption to add a new card. Stuff me, Microsoft you need to work on making this service useable. The competitors such as Viber will get my business the way my experience with Skype is proceeding. I really find Skype support crap. Anyone agree? Where is the live chat?
Hi there. I spent nearly 2 hours fiddling with the website and clicking every single possible thing I could click on. Eventually what I did was I had to buy Skype credits, then I had to go in and request a refund which opened up a live chat. They refunded my $10 bucks for Skype credit and confirmed that the credit card I used was "a great way to update your credit card information" and then applied the new card to my subscription and Skype number.
Needless to say, while the support agent was very nice, I was seriously boiling red hot with infurating burn it to the ground rage when I contacted them. My cable company wanted to much for phone service so I decided to stick it out, but holy crap it took for-ev-er. I recommended with every fiber of my being that the support agent put forth a ticket to a) create an up to date tutorial for changing your credit card information without having to purchase something and then be refunded; and b) to put a UI change request in to make it easier.
I signed off our chat by saying that if this was Amazon that Bezos would have a fit over this issue. -

Shredded old credit card because it expired. It was the card used for iTunes purchases. Cannot add new credit card info without first inputing security code from old card. Any suggestions how to remove the card without the code? Or perhaps add the new card and make it default payment method?
Call and ask your credit card issuer.

Hi apple, I have currently got a visa $50 gift card. I put it on my iTunes account I have currently ran out of funds on the card. Now even when I try to download free apps or even update, it says it requires a new credit card. Is there a way around this

If you have a credit card on your account then it needs to be valid. Have you tried removing it from yoru account ? On your iPad try tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Store on iOS 6+) and selecting 'View Apple ID' on the popup - that should give you a payments link on your account's page. -

You can log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View My Apple Id menu option, and on the screen that you are taken to there should be a link for payment information. You might also be able to do it on your iPhone by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and viewing your account
