Should I be able to access virtual host via localhost/site path?

I finally have been able to successfully set up a virtual host on my local host.
I can access http://localhost which redirects me to the http://localhost/xampp page and I can access my local site with http://nif.local/. I thought I had read that I should still be able to access my local nif site via http://localhost/nif.local. Is that correct? If so, what should I check since I get a 404 error via the second way? I just want to make sure everything is set up correctly.

Purchases go in your library. They'll be listed in the main section for each type of content, and normally also in the Purchased playlist. Was the song ever in your library, or have you been totally unsuccessful in getting it to download?
I am tried of repurchasing songs. You should always be able to access any song you've bought in the past!
Unfortunately the content owners do not as of this time agree. All the major download stores have the same "one purchase one download" for content other than apps because the content owners require payment for every download whether or not it's a new purchase.
If you can post more details about your setup, software versions, and the exact nature of the problem, perhaps someone here can help you figure out what's going on.

If you want to migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud you do so at http://me.com/move . You will need Lion 10.7.2 on your Mac to be able to use its facilities. Your calendars, contacts, bookmarks and email will be moved to iCloud.
Your iDisk, including website hosting and Gallery, will be unaffected and can still be accessed as before, though the migration process will probably sign you out in System Preferences>MobileMe and you will need to sign in again there.
You will continue to be able to use your iWeb site as before. As you say, this will cease at the end of June. This page examines some alternatives:

Creating multiple virtual hosts on localhost failed

For developing a website I want to setup some virtual hosts on the localhost of the OS X Server.
Trying to setup them up via "Services -> Websites -> [+]" failed because the domain name won't be resolved.
I creates a virtual host called "thewebsite.site" some time ago - this virtual host works well although the bullet next
to the "thewebsite.site" within the domain name imput fields actually shows red (for my complete irritation it sometimes
the bullet turns to green for a while - I don't know why and when because I changed nothing)

Not able to access virtual machine applications in remote server.

I am using Oracle Linux server 5.6 - 64 bit and installed all IAM 11gr2 stack and Oracle data base. I am not able to access the any Identity Management applications in remote servers (able to access in local virtual machine) but i can able to access Database Enterprise Manager application which is running in the same machine. If any one can help me on how to fix the issue really appreciate your help.

It should work with adapter in bridged mode and firewall down. (you should however check and confirm this is the case)
A reason for why local client connections to the server s/w works, and remote ones not, can be due to IP/port binding. If the server binds its listening port on an IP (such as localhost) that is not accessible to remote clients, those clients will not be able to connect.
Have a look at what IP address(es) the listening port(s) are on: netstat -l -t -p
You should see a *:7001 entry for the relevant server process - meaning that it used INADDR_ANY when it did the port bind (binds port to all existing and future IP addresses of that platform).
If not, it means the port bind was done to a single specific IP address - and that the clients need to be able to route and connect to that specific IP in order to get a connection with the server process.

Accessing portal server with virtual host via web dispatcher

I have portal installed at http://hostname.com:50000. A web dispatcher is installed in front of it which uses port number 80 and redirects to http://hosname.com:50000.
so when i say http://hostname, my web dispatcher redirects to http://hostname.com:50000/ from where i can access my portal.
now I want to create an alias for my hostname, say when user types http://mydev, it should redirect to http://hostname.company.com thru webdispatcher.
so i created virtual host for my portal server . how to use this in my virtual hosts in my webdispatcher.

To do that, according to what you said, I will create a DNS alias epdev to the IP address where my portal is hosted. so when the user types http://epdev, I have set up a parameter in web dispatcher profile to redirect to http://hostname.company.com:50000/.. so my requirement is fulfilled now..I hope this the correct proc for what I intended to achieve. am I right?
2. As said above, I am using web dispatcher only for redirection to a fully qualified name, as portal requires as fully qualified domain name. Is there a possibility other than web dispatcher for redirection.
3. if the above procedure works, I got a question like..what is the use of "virtual hosts".
How is it different from creating for instance, creating as many DNS aliases to IP address.

Should Clients be able to access Wsuscontent folder share?

I was testing some MDT options for installing approved updates during the install task. One of the steps was to map to the WSUSContent folder on our wsus sever. Access was blocked by our firewall and the shares were not configured.
That got me thinking. Do clients need to be able to access this folder share to download the updates from WSUS? Are my clients currently downloading from MS based upon the approvals?

Virtual Hosts vs Localhost

OK, I'm on about step #13 of Apple's virtual hosts enabling obstacle course, and I'm still confused. I've modified the httpd.conf, hosts and NetInfo files, and I can now preview the home page of ONE of my virtual host sites. The problem is that I see the page whether I type in http://localhost/, http://Geobop/, http://GW/ or http://GS/. It should preview only at http://Geobop/.
I rediscovered the article Enabling Virtual Hosts on MacOS X at http://www.evolt.org/article/EnablingVirtual_Hosts_on_MacOSX/18/13138/
and added a script to my httpd.conf file, as follows:

If I understand correctly, this is supposed to make http://localhost/ display something unique, rather than a local website. However, all the URL's I cited above still display the same thing...but this time around they display blank pages with columns of numerals along the left margin.
In an earlier experiment, I deleted all my virtual hosts from httpd.conf. Then all these URL's displayed the following:

Sharepoint 2010 - Not able to access Sharepoint 2010 Public facing site on mobile browsers

Earlier, I posted a similar question in the forum , but did not get appropriate response . Posting it again with some more information .
We are not able to access Sharepoint public facing site on Mobile browsers like chrome, IE, Safari (However the site is working fine on Firefox mobile browser and on PC/Laptops as well .)
Following is the error we are getting :
"Cannot set custom attribute on mobile controls in this page. Custom attributes specified are Access Key=0."
I checked in the event logs , following was the exception :

User has appropriate permission, still not able to access one of the sharepoint site applications.

I have tried all solutions available on internet regarding this problem but none seems to work.
As per one solution I added the user in sharepoint site collection administrator group still no luck!
As per another solution I tried to run “User Profile Service Application Proxy – User Profile to SharePoint Full Synchronization”
“User Profile Service Application Proxy – User Profile to SharePoint Quick Synchronization”
but they dont run for some reason. Both these jobs are scheduled to run everyday but last time they ran was some date in 2011. When I click on Run Now nothing happens.
I deleted all cache, forms password history everything. Added the site in trusted sites and all. No luck!
User also tried to access the site by logging onto another system but still same issue.
This user recently joined alongwith a few more people. All of them are able to access the site except this particular user. So, a web part or unpublished page cant be the reason, right?
This user is only able to access the home page which is say http://<siteurl:1234> application while the site which this user is not able to access is
http://<siteurl:2345>.
I even tried to give access through sharepoint designer but no luck! Please help!
PS: This may not be relevant but still I'm sharing. Earlier I used to add users in manage user profiles - new profile. But now as soon as the user is added into active directory there profile is getting created automatically. This might be happening due to
active directory and user profile sync but the question is how? Because I dont remember configuring this. And it was not configured earlier too.

According to your description, my understanding is that only one user cannot access the site even though he has the right permission.
I recommend to verify the things below:
Check the permission of the user in the site to see if the permission is right.
Is http://<siteurl:2345> a new site collection ? Can the user access other pages except the home page in
http://<siteurl:1234>?
Grant needed permission to the user in the web application to see if the issue still occurs.
Delete the user and re-add the user in AD to see if the issue still occurs.
Check the ULS log for detailed error message.

Cannot access Virtual Machine via RDP

I created a Virtual Machine 2012 Data center gallery last night, and I now cannot rdp into it. It is using port 3389 for both public and private. When I ping my VM, I get a request time out. Any ideas what might be happening? Thanks.

Just to add, if you delete the VM and keep its disks, then use the disk to recreate a new VM, the data on the temporary driver(D:) would be lost on the old VM.

OC4J Startup looks fine, but can't access any samples via "localhost:8888"

I'm working with Reports Builder Report Builder 10.1.2.0.2. I've built a JSP report and a parameter form to go with it... they both work beautifully within Reports Builder.
Now I'm trying to run it via the Standalone OC4J on my machine...
I run C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\j2ee\DevSuite\startinst.bat and it looks like everything is fine...

I open up IE and key in "http://localhost:8888/" hit enter and receive a "The page cannot be displayed" message.
I've tried "
http://localhost:8888/examples/servlets/index.html"

and still the same "The page cannot be displayed"
I first suspected it might be a WinXP SP2 Firewall issue, I found a posting that said to ensure that Port 8888 is open, I added that to the firewall configuration, but I'm still not seeing OC4J "serve" any of the pages.
Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong here??

Hmmm... perhaps this is my problem... I can not find either the <oracle_home>\opmn\bin or the <oracle_home>\dcm\bin folders on my machine... is this a "bad" thing?

But http://localhost:8889/j2ee/servlet/index.html continues to give me a page cannot be found.
