Should I be able to see other peoples airports on my network thru airport utility?

After upgrading to Lion, when I pull up airport utility, It gives me a list of peoples time cap[sules and airport extremes. This is on my home network. I'm not referring to people's wifi networks in my neighborhood, but actual apple routers listed under my airport utility. Why did this stat happening?

Yes, chances are excellent that they cannot, especially if the following three things are followed: 1) The most obvious is to not give out the password, 2) The wireless is protected with either WPA or WPA2 standard encryption, and 3) That you use a non-dictionary password for that wireless password.

Should i be able to see interlacing on the computer display?

I'm trying to verify if i have things set up properly.
If i'm working in a timeline that is DV NTSC and i've brought in elements from after effects and as well have moving images within FCP, should i be able to see the interlaced lines in FCP?
It looks okay on the broadcast monitor but i'm trying to figure out if interlacing on ftg/renders should be visible on the cinema display.

You can observe the presence of interlacing on a computer display only if the Canvas (or Viewer) are set to display 100% size and the video is paused. The interlacing will appear as a comb effect on moving objects. You can not observe interlacing with a computer display on running video.

Should I be able to see a priority change using a mutex priority ceiling

If I have a program which uses a mutex lock in solaris 9 which is set up to protect/priority ceiling of 5 and kick it off using priocntl with a priority of 11 and RT, I can look at top and see that it has priority 111. So my process is running real time. I then use a second xterm and wait till the program hits the lock portion of the code. If I do a priocntl -d pid, it is still priority 11. I know it is in the lock because there is a printf and a sleep of 20 seconds. Should I be able to see the priority go to 5? How can I prove the priority inheritance off the mutex lock is working in a test program? Thanks for any insight.

I bought an external hard drive from apple puter (I thought) should I be able to see my pictures in the time capsule? I never set up the time capsule I just plugged it in and it seemed ready to go. But can't see the pictures

Ok if disk utility was able to verify the drive I doubt there is any problem.. are you trying to open a TM backup??
You need to mount the sparsebundle then check the actual info inside the bundle.
Don't use disk warrior.. if the disk has verified then unless you deliberately deleted files there is nothing that is going to do.

But if you have copied info to the TC that is now gone.. and the disk is ok.. I am not sure.. the TC will not have deleted the files itself.

No. Photos are only stored in the cloud if you included them in a backup, in which case you can't view them, you can only restore them and everything else in the backup in case your device needs to be restored, OR when using photo stream, but that's not a storage or viewing service, but a syncing service to get pics from one device to another. Now, there is "shared photo stream", and if this is what you have been doing, then google it and learn how it works. Otherwise, icloud is not a photo service like flickr and others like it.

No. Photo Stream is no accessible from iCloud.com.
Photo Stream is meant to sync photos between devices and is not in the cloud storage.

Why can I see other peoples' WiFi networks but not my own?

This is a problem that started when an engineer came to replace our TV's set top box as well as our router a few weeks ago. I'll run through everything in quick bullet-point form...
-My flatmates are able to see and connect to our network with no issues at all on their XP laptops.
I, on the other hand, can not see or connect to our network at all. However, I am able to see other WiFi networks.
-Days of rebooting and replugging the router, my iMac and AirPort card prove fruitless.
-Throughout all this, the router is sat on top of the set top box, which is sat on top of the TV. I move the router down so its sat next to the TV and a plant. I'm able to see and connect to our network with no issues.
-Three weeks later, the problem has returned. I can't see our network but my flatmates aren't affected.
-Thinking it may just be poor reception in my room, I set up my Mac in the front room a couple of feet away from the router. I detect other networks, but still not my own.
-More unplugging and rebooting later, hallelujah, I can see and connect to our network. I take the Mac back to my room and try from there. No luck. The familiar XBoxLive8973498374, BT-HomeHub8934897, TalkTalk439847 (etc) and Sofia networks come up in my networks list as usual but not our own SpeedTouch459873439847 (etc).
We have a Thomson ST 585 router and I have an iMac G4 with the original AirPort card. Short of buying a new router, does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

Our network is the one labelled SpeedTouch. As you can see, my AirPort antenna seems to be working perfectly. However, the SpeedTouch connection (and only the Speedtouch connection) would be lost intermittently for several minutes at a time.

The SpeedTouch signal strength is obviously not as strong but still reasonable. I don't seem to have any issues anymore; I can see, connect and stay connected to our network with no real problem - but I haven't changed any settings on the router.

I can't see other people I'm group calls on my mobile device and they can't see me. Is this just my phone or is it skype.

Apple TV uses iTunes. The reason you can't rent through your ATV is because you can't rent movies through iTunes Canada. Sadly, as this is a user-to-user forum, no one here would know when or if rentals will come to Canada.

Since installing the Safari 6/Apple Remote Desktop Update I can't see other Macs/PCs on the network. If I restart I can see 2 Macs, but after a while they disappear, and I can see/connect to nothing...

If you are using DHCP check that it is getting the correct addressing. In the event that it is but still not working then test by giving it a fixed IP and see if it then works.

I posted this problem a couple of months ago but received no answer - I'm hoping that someone else may have experienced the same problem or someone can explain what it is that I'm doing wrong -
I upgraded from iPhoto '08 to iPhoto '09 in June 2009. I have nine MobileMe Gallery albums. Eight of these albums were created and uploaded using iPhoto '08 and only one with iPhoto '09. I have just noticed a problem which, I believe, has only happened since my upgrade and it's a strange one.
While scrolling through the Photos in my iPhoto 09 Library I noticed that for those photos that appeared in an album uploaded to MobileMe Gallery using iPhoto 08 I have the photo and immediately next to (after) it a white dotted outline of a blank/black space with the Title of the previous photo under it. If I select this 'blank' photo and drag it to the Trash it removes the photo from my MobileMe Gallery album!
This applies to every photo uploaded to all 8 MobileMe Gallery albums with iPhoto 08. The behaviour is not repeated in the images uploaded to the one album I have uploaded to the MobileMe Gallery using iPhoto 09.
Before I realised the significance of these 'blank' photos I selected them as I was scrolling through my Library in Photo view and moved them to the iPhoto Trash! Then I discovered that doing so removed them from both the album on my MobileMe Gallery and the MobileMe Gallery album that I see in the left hand column of iPhoto.
WIll I have to live with these 'blanks' in my Photos view forever?
I would be grateful if anyone can suggest how I might be able to fix this problem.

PS I have now created another 5 MobileMe albums using iPhoto '09. All these display correctly in my iPhoto 'Photos' view as well as on my MobileMe Gallery so I can confirm that the 'blank' problem only relates to MobileMe albums I created and uploaded using iPhoto '08.
Surely other people have experienced the same problem??

Many thanks for your prompt reply. I don't have a backup drive with me at the moment but as soon as I get back to my Time Capsule I'll backup and do as you suggest. Hopefully, that will solve the problem.

Forgive me if this is totally obvious.
Should I be able to click on Network in Finder and see networked PCs on my LAN? I can share and transfer files from a laptop to this iMac, but I don't have the laptop with me right now. I'm trying to see a different desktop PC right now. Under Network, then Servers, I only see iMac.local.
I don't know if this is a problem or if it's just how things work...

Yes you should see them if they are Sharing and on the same Subnet.
If you know the IP of the other Laptop, try In finder, select Go menu>Connect to Servers..., then on the iMac, type in smb://ip.of.the.pc, like...
