Should I be having to reset/restore my Classic on a nearly daily basis?

I keep having problems with my Classic and basically have since the day I got it. It's been annoying but I haven't tried to get a new one because I thought maybe it was just a software problem that every Classic owner would be having. Sometimes I'll be prompted to restore the iPod, do so and then when I use it again, either I get the "red x" screen telling me to restore the iPod again or I'll choose a song, just to have the iPod freeze up and I have to reset it manually (which sometimes solves the problem, some times doesn't.) When it freezes this way, there's generally this sort of short "beep" sound. It's hard to explain without sounding stupid, because it's a "computer-y" noise.
A friend of mine told me that if I took it to the Apple store, they'd just tell me, that because I use a PC, I probably had a virus on my computer that was messing with my iPod. That's why I wanted to post here to see if anyone else has been experiencing problems to this extent or if there's something wrong with my iPod.

Thanks for the input. It just got ridiculous over the weekend with having to reset the iPod. It basically will only work once every other time that I try to use it. I ran an anti-virus program just to be sure that it wasn't my computer's fault my iPod was giving me problems, as my friend suggested.
I bought it from Amazon. Would they be able to help me at the Apple store?

  • Restart, Reset, Restore, When?

How often should we do a Restart, Reset, Restore?
    magiclee

With any GSM phone, it is a good idea to power the phone off and on every few days or so, or enable/disable airplane mode.
I usually do a Reset once a week or so, but this is only needed if you notice a problem.
A Restore is needed if there is a problem that isn't resolve by powering the iPhone off and on or by a Reset.

You can't.  If there was a way to get into the phone and backup data without a passcode, what would be the purpose of the passcode?
Either think harder, or prepare to lose all your data.

  • How do I reset/restore my late 2011 MBA to factory settings??

Ok, so I love my MacBook Air that I got for christmas 2011. But the thing is, I have never been great about emails. TOO MUCH JUNK EMAIL!!! Also the whole photostream thing, is kinda overwhelming me because its SUPER hard to delete them off of iPhoto. And then theres the fact that the category "other" takes up 25 GB of space!! So my idea on how to fix that and try and get a better start with iCloud on my iphone 3gs (because I have it for another year) and my iPad (1st generation), I was thinking I would reset/restore (i honestly dont see a difference between the two) my MBA to factory settings as if it was brand new and get a fresh new start on that and my phone. Because on the phone (and iPad), Apple makes it so easy to just go to settings -> general -> reset and boom-boom-boom you're done. Now, I dont think that my MBA came with a flash drive or OS disk. And I dont know how to do all the complicated code entering or whatever. I live in an area where there isnt really an apple store nearby so I dont think taking it in to them will work either. But I've already backed all my stuff up to 2 flash drives and all my contacts are hand-written down in a contact book. So, is there a way I could just basically get a new start on the MBA? Thanks and sorry there are so many "can'ts" and "i dont understands". I am 14 and pretty good with computers but this is my first Mac so I'm still trying to learn it! But, thank you in advance to all those that try to help!!

    1. Shut down your system.
    2. Hold down power + option to start your computer back up.
    3. Let go of power, but keep holding option.
    4. You should see two hard drive icons, one that says Macintosh HD and one that says Recovery HD.
    5. Select Recovery HD, and click enter.
The rest is up to you, if you want a better description of how to do this more accurately there is a guy by the name of Lou from "UnBoxTherapy" on YouTube that gives a great tutorial on how to do this.
Here is a link to his video:

  • HT4623 I have never had a passcode to lock  my iPad. Now that I have updated it with IOS7 it is asking for one and is locked. How do I unlock this without having to reset the whole thing through iTunes????

I have never had a passcode to lock  my iPad. Now that I have updated it with IOS7 it is asking for one and is locked. How do I unlock this without having to reset the whole thing through iTunes????

Unfortunately, if the iPad is insisting that you use a passcode, there is no way around it other than to restore the device using iTunes on a computer, or by erasing it in iCloud.com via Find My iPhone.
You could try resetting the iPad and cross your fingers and hope this is just a blip on the radar....hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

  • How do i reset/restore computer to factory settings???

how do i reset/restore computer to factory settings???

Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
           A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
           B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
              1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
              2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
              3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
                  side.
              4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
                  sure to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
                   startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
              1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
              3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
              4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
              5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See.What to do with iCloud before selling your computer
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
         A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
              1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
              2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
              3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              4. Install OS X.
              5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
              6. Shutdown the computer.
         B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
it is three times faster than wireless.
              1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
                  Utilities window appears.
              2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
              3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
              4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
              6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
              7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
              8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.

  • 3GS iPhone Will not Reset / Restore

I am having a problem restoring 3GS iPhone I do get a Apple start up screen but nothing further. When I attempted to iTunes it says that it's in recovery mode and wants to do something but it never does.
I think it's not completely erased or reset and that's the problem but I don't know.
    Any idea out there?

    Several solutions appear:

  • Locked iphone and forgot password how can I get it unlocked without having to reset my phone and lose everything?

My boyfriend changed his pass code on his iPhone 5 and does not remember it. He's tried every possible code and now his phone is disabled and says to connect to itunes. I'm wondering if there's some where we can go take it to to get the password off without having to reset the whole phone and loseall all our pictures. Any info please I'd greatly appreciate it. I've called our carrier company and  I can't do anything but referred me to apple.

If this iPhone has previously been synced to a computer you can connect to that computer which will unlock it.
If you have not done so there is no way to use it without Restoring it and losing your information.

  • During the ios6 my ipod shut off and will no longer go to the home screen. and i cant reset restore or revert it. it wont connnect to the computer

ios 6 killed my ipod. i had it on the charger for the update, when all of a sudden it shut off when the it was displaying the apple logo with the little loading bar underneath it. now my ipod touch 4g wont go to the home screen or let me reset, restore, or put it in factory default mode. it just stays on the apple logo and occasionally goes to a blank screen

    Try Here  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
You may need to try this More than Once...
Also, if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.
