Should i buy another soundca

hey there I have posted a few days ago and i still had no answer from a mod or admin..
the problem is.. Do i buy a M-Audio Delta 00 or i can keep my audigy? I really need an answer on the next question so if you CAN'T answer or if my question is not clear enough just tell me !! its a simple technical question so you should know the answer (mods or admins).. if not.. i guess i cant resolve the problem so cya creative... ;(. here's my question:
I have an Audigy 2 platinum. I need to disable what is routed to the surround pan.. out # is wave/mp3 out.. the out #3 is 2 of the surround sound outs (like rear left and right).. but when i route something to go trought the out #3 only it still pass trought the line out of the Audigy and i hear it in my simple stereo speakers (even if i mute the wave/mp3 on the audigy mixer). thats the problem!! i dont want to hear it with all the rest, i only want it to pass trought my SPDIF out. I CAN'T just turn off my stereo amp because i need to hear some sound from wave/mp3 bus also.. so anyone have an idea? Is it possible?
I tought maybe it was possible with the Slot FX busses but i cant find from wich physical output of my sound card the sound routed trought them will pass. So what are Slot FX busses? If i route some sound in one of this bus, in wich physical out port of the soundcard it will pass ?thanx for your help!!!

thank you Catherina. i finally have an answerbut there's no cubase only related stuff in this message. the 0 outs of my sound card are wave r/l, the 5 surround outs, and the 4 slof fx outs. in any software using sound card i see these 0 outs. (reason, cubase and reaktor). but ill try a few more things anywaysthanx a lot for your help

  • Why Should I Buy Another Mac Book Pro

I purchased a Mac Titanium Powerbook back in the day when it was so fresh and new, big bucks.  Within 2 years the logic board began freezing all the time.  It was fixed with big bucks again.  2 years later the laptop began doing the same thing, freezing up and so I went along with the extremely annoying issue.
When the Mac Book Pro came out I decided to start fresh with a new computer, with big bucks of course.  Guess what happened 2 years later as i lived in another town, took it to another Mac repair place.  They told me the Logic board was dead.  So after big bucks I replaced it, so rediculous.  And now, 2 years later it is freezing again, not only that, I can't connect to my wifi anywhere I want to in my own place with my own internet.  I have to walk to certain spots in my place so my Mac Book Pro will communicate with my router that always worked with the new Mac Book Pro since day 1.  But, after these updates Apple puts out to better the system, at some time it borked my internet connection.  Reading these boards and seeing similar problems with other Apple users and seeing there is no solution is decerning.  Then seeing a new security update from Apple about detecting virus popups and nothing addressing it's wifi issue is the last straw for me.
My wife bought a Toshiba 4 years ago and we put win7 on it when it came out since vista is disgusting.  There isn't one problem with her laptop, nothing.  And you can run still get on the internet with a laptop that runs win98.  I cant even load a page when I get on my Mac Titanium Powerbook, that has to be connected to the internet via ethernet cable becuase detecting wifi on that is something that never occured, even though it should.
I am on the fence, Mac vs PC?  Pricey vs Something that breaks less?
So why should I buy another Mac computer?

I don't think the experiences of a place where people discuss problems is necesarily an indicator of the overall populace using the product. Just as if you went to a hospital, you could not ascertain the relative overall health of everyone who is not in the hospital.
Statistically, you are probably an ideal candidate for a MBP, as it is extremely unlikely that you would have another problem of similar character. That is of course assuming that nothing you are doing is cutting short the life expectancy of your computers.
I am on my 4th MB variant, and have only had one major issue, which was handled terrifically by Apple. However, I am not entirely without worry that an electromechanical device nmade by humans can't fail. That is why I also have had AppleCare on everything.
But we differ in one great respect, I think. I figure that any computer i buy has a maximum life expectancy of 3 years. I have never used a computer longer than that, and I am routinely trading up within that time period. This time will be different though. I've only had my MBA for a little over 6 months, and It can't come any sooner that I'll move to the new one in about a month, if it nears my expectations.
Don't get me wrong, I respect the value you place on longevity. But I really think that unless your activities are especially harsh in a physical manner on your computers, then it is unlikely you will have the same experience once more. I do beleive that the current units are as good or better than anything Apple has had in their notbooks, in terms of quality.
But it is your decision,, that should be based on ALL facts and not just the experiences of those who visit a help forum.

  • Why should I buy another macbook?

Apple is incredible with both their software and the physical design of their products. HOWEVER, since owning my macbook which is three years old I have already had to replace the battery, my wife has also had to replace her macbook battery, and now my friend with a 1 year old macbook pro is having battery issues and needs a replacement. In addition, now my OS won't even boot up. This is so dissappointing because I previously had a dell laptop that I got 6 years out of never needing a new battery or having it cease to start up till it's last day. I don't mind paying more for a superior product but my macbook experience has not been superior with regards to performance. As much as I like apple I'm ready to get a PC laptop for half the price and without such a consistant record for battery failures and limited years of use.
I know apple care is out there but I take incredible care of my belongings and computers. I have yet to need insurance on any electronic item I have ever owned due to personal misuse and find it wrong on principle that I would need to buy it because a manufacturer has a track record of regular manufacturing problems.
Is anyone else dissappointed with long term use of apple products? The online forums are full of these battery and OS loading issues, which further discourages me. Anyone else considered or left apple and moved to PC?  Why should I continue to buy another product from them? Anyone switched from Apple's OS to Ubuntu?
    -Jason

As a PC veteran of 11yrs, I switched to Mac last year and got my first Macbook Pro in August 2010. I must say, after using Snow Leopard for almost a year, I am NEVER going back to PC. Honestly, I feel if you want to switch back to PC because of price, that's ok. But switching over reliaility issues w/ Macbook Pro, I can't agree on.
I would like to start by saying I DON"T WORK FOR APPLE
Now, the new Lion is coming out next month which is going to bring over 250 feautures to the Mac and even more stable.
Plus, statics show that over time, Mac computers last 3 to 4 times the average PC life span. I too can vouch on this as a PC user of 11 yrs.
My leaving apple, you leave 1 Cutstomer support, a company known for the best is build quality, and the most Advanced operating system on the planet.
I would advice you to take a look at the preview of " WINDOWS 8 ".
Moreover, I recently updated my 2010 13" Macbook Pro to a 2011 13" one and I can concur that you WILL NOT be disaapointed with the New Sandy Bridge implemented in the New Macs. Plus due to Mac AWESOME resale value, I was able to sell my old 13" one on eBay for $1099.
Tell me which PC sells for that much
    The choice is urs.

  • Should I buy another ipod or buy an Iphone?

My ipod screen got broken so i was wonder how much it was to fix it or was so much that i could just buy an iphone with that money?

Have a look at the costs here:
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
Getting an iPhone would be tempting as well, even a used one, but you'll have to get a carrier contract too.

Do I have to switch printers to get rid of this stupid box?

I have my iTunes library on an external HD because it is too big for my iMAC 500GB HD. However, it is not backed up, so I need a solution to backup my external HD. Can I do this with any Apple cloud product or should I look elsewhere for cloud products? Will it be cheaper/easier just to buy another external HD to back up my existing external HD? Thanks

I don't know if this is me adding files to iTunes when the external wasn't connected
    it is.
is it OK to just keep deleting that library on the Air?
    i wouldn't - at least not until i
    mount the external
point iTunes media folder location back to the external via preferences > advanced
consolidate my library via file > library > organize library
The ntfs hasn't seem to be causing any problems, but I've always wanted to know.
in order for your Mac to write to NTFS drives, it needs some help by installing e.g. the NTFS 3G driver. apparently that or something similar is installed on your Mac already. preferably, it would be formatted for Mac but then windows machines would need to have e.g. MacDrive installed to recognize the drive.

    kiyoungtack1,
You have asked a great question! It is your choice how you would like to go about purchasing the iPhone. Do you currently have an iPhone? If so you can trade in your current iPhone and put it towards the purchase of the new iPhone 6 or 6 Plus at full retail pricing. http://bit.ly/GGnDDC Have you checked to see if you are eligible for Early Edge? If you would like us to investigate further into which option would be the most cost efficient to you please private message me so we can review further.

You'll have to get it serviced by Apple, you'll have to pay for the replacement device:
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
Apple - Support - Service Answer Center
You can also search for a 3rd party repair company in the Internet.

  • Help! Decided to back up to the cloud for the first and purchased 10gb. It turns out I should've bought 20gb. This was only a few hours ago. I need to know whether I can just buy another 10gb, or I need to cancel that purchase and start again? Thanks!

Help! I purchased 10gb of storage so that I could back up to the iCloud for the first time a couple of hours ago, but I should've bought 20 gb.

    Thanks

Many thanks, just tried that number from the uk and it's not recognised. I'll endeavour to track down another number..

  • HT2305 have a notebook running 10.5.8 - should I upgrade the software or buy another computer?

Have a macbook runniing osx 10.5.8 should I buy a new computer or upgrade the software?

That's your choice. Without know what your exact model is here is the upgrade path for OS X:
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
If your model is a plastic housed MacBook then I would buy a new computer. If you have a model from Late 2008 or later, then it's a matter of just how old it is. The last MacBook was in 2010, and that model would run Mountain Lion OK. Prior to that I would stick with Snow Leopard.

  • TS2634 My ipod touch will no longer play in both my docking stations, Bowers and Wilkins mini zeppellin and a Logitech, yet it plays in my car.  Is the ipod about to die?  Do I repair or buy another? It's only 2 years old!  thanks!

My ipod touch will not play music in my Bowers and Wilkins mini zeppelin nor my Logitech.  Yet, it plays in my car.  The music can be heard playing in the ipod itself.  It is only 2 years old.  Should I repair or just buy another?  Thanks!

Did it start not working after updating the iPOs on the iPod? SOmetimes updating an iOS breaks compatibility.
You can try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

    Sir,
I thought So too but then I went to Itunes Library and try and buy a single song from an album for $1.29.  Now my Itunes Gift card balance is $ 7.10 as I mentioned earlier. it still did not let me buy and kept trying billing my Visa card.
Should I restart my PC and Itunes and retry. What do you suggest?

  • Is it possible to upgrade graphics by buying another (same) card ?

    Hi
Scince I am playing a lot of heavy games on my MacPro (mid 2012) (windows), and new games like FarCry 3 are lagging a bit on Ultra graphics, I thought of an upgrade. I thought of buyin a new graphics card, but scince it isn't that important to play on ultra graphics I thought of an cheaper upgrade like buying an extra Radeon HD 5770 so i get 2x HD 5770, but I got my suspicions that the gaming performance won't change, or the graphics performance wont change at all, that it just allows me to add more displays. So my question is: Should I buy a new graphics card like one of the GTX series or should I add another 5770? Or maybe I upgrade other components instead of graphics ?
    thanks,

I got my suspicions that the gaming performance won't change, or the graphics performance wont change at all, that it just allows me to add more displays.
    Your suspicions are exactly right.
This week, a new graphics card for the Mac Pro, Apple/AMD 7970 Mac Edition will start to become avaiable at about US$500. This should shake things up a bit in the Mac Pro (2008 and later) graphics arena.

  • I will never buy another HP Product Again!

    I tried to get some help with an issue that I have been having and could not decide where the issue fit best so I posted it over multiple areas ... NOT to SPAM, but because it did not fit into anyone area ... here it is listed below;
I have a HP Pavilion a6152n PC purchased in Sept. 07, running 32 bit Vista
For a while my web cam worked fine, but now, while I can see the web cam, those on-line using such services any Skype and Yahoo. can NOT.
The audio continues work fine and CAN be heard by the other party ... the problem is with the video.
I even bought a new web cam thinking maybe it was a problem with the cam, but the same problem repeats on THREE different web cams, one microsoft and two Logitech, so if must be some kind of software(hardware) problem with the computer.
I am hoping it is an easy fix ... I just have no idea what it is, Please help!
Thanks so much and have a good day!
Not one area ... could be hardware, could be software, could be 'other' ... I wanted to get as many eyes as I could so maybe someone would have a solution.
No solutions from HP ... just my posts locked.
That is NOT the kind of customer support that I deserve and I will be taking my future business to other providers.
My suggestion is that HP have both more help and more respect for its clientele.
    Thank you for reading this!

I have had problems with HP from day one and HP would not-could not solve my problem so I lived with it for several years.  After intensive searching for help from HP, I took my HP products off line and bought a Brother AIO and booted it up and guess what....IT WORKED PERFECTLY  the first time.  It finally scanned to Word and I could edit my files.  NEVER could do that wtih the HP G85 AIO which was very expensive and the HP 2400 PhotoJet which was expensive at the time.  Not only would HP refuse to help me solve the problems with my AIOs, HP wanted money UPFRONT just to ascertain what might be the problem.  I have had my home office setup for consulting but was limited as to what I could do with the HP products but now I am certain that with the Brother, I can do all I need to make clients happy and bring in an income.  I, too, will never buy another HP product again.   And by the way, Wendy, get the hell off the forum....you are an HP employer and are as useless as your products.  You should be solving our problems with your products rather than talking gibberish.

  • Should I buy Aperture in July 2014 even though it's EOLing?

I appreciate this may seem a bit like asking 'should I buy a house when the government has just announced the new freeway is going to run through the back garden', but…..
I'm not a professional, just a hobbyist with a bit iPhoto library and some Photoshop knowledge.  I was planning to buy Aperture when Apple next updated it because I liked the idea of being able to do more sophisticated Photoshop-esque tweaking of levels, curves, filters etc whilst still only having one unified photo library for iPhoto and Aperture.  It's important in my household to have photos accessible in iPhoto too.
But then Apple announces that instead of updating Aperture, it's ceasing development.  So now I'm torn.
So should I buy Aperture now - seems like there will be one more update for Yosemite - because it will still do what I want it to do?  Or should I adopt Lightroom on the grounds that at some point in the future, as with FCP 6, later versions of OS X will stop supporting old apps like Aperture and I'll be forced to switch to Lightroom or find another solution anyway.
Better to do this now than before I learn the new app and have a ton of images with changes that won't cross over.
    Thanks for any advice/insight.
    Andy

Have a look at Capture One Pro as well - IMO it is the most Aperture like tool out there, it doesn't have as big a feature set as Aperture, but what it does have is very good quality some of it better than Aperture. There is a free trial avaialble, and its on for half price right now.
There are a number of comparisons recommending  the quality ofCapture One's raw convertor; I personally like it much better than Aperture's raw convertor (admittedly only checked with my own Panasonic raw files). I also like its gradient brush, the ability to copy masks between edits (and invert them), and the ability to assign multiple edit functions to the same mask. (I miss the ability to control levels, curves, highlight and shadow modification with a brush or mask)
After a week of evaluation I purchased a copy - I'm tired of waiting for feature upgrades, and don't like using a market trailing raw convertor on every image. I have a choice (not made yet) of doing some of my work, mostly organization and sorting, in Aperture, and RAW conversion in Capture One, or of making a clean break and doing everything from here on in Capture One.
But one thing is clear - I'll have to wait an uncertainly long time (but at least 6 months) before I get new or improved editing features or an improved RAW convertor for Aperture replacement (and then I'll be faced with an undefined cost to transition my images from Aperture to Photos), whereas companies like Capture One, DxO and Adobe can provide those improvements today, and are continuously providing more improvements to customers.
IMOthose other companies will see their revenues and R&D budget pickup as they acquire new users from the Aperture diaspora.
