Should i calibrate my battery right away?

my new macbook comes tomorrow ^^. and i read the online manual and it says that i should calibrate sometime the first week. but i also heard you should do it right away.
what should i do?
plz help thank

You might as well get started on it right away. You have to charge it and then leave it plugged in at a full charge for 2 hours. That's pretty easy.
The next part about letting it run down is a bit harder, but not at all impossible. Do it as soon as you can, but don't get mental about it if it takes a few days to get around to it.

You don't have to but it's highly recommended for optimizing the performance, please read Apple's Battery Calibration article.

It was probably Adobe Flash. You currently have version 10.1, the current version is 10.2

  • Do I need to replace my battery right away?

So, I have a Macbook Pro 2011. It mostly stays in my apartment plugged in, since I have an iPad. It recently said that my battery has to be serviced, but my friend said I don't need to if I just leave it plugged all the time. However, I had to unplug it one time and it just shut down (it said it still had 96% though but it won't charge). Now there is an 'x' inside my battery icon. I tried an SMC restart but to no avail.
I'm a busy college student, so it's hard to find time to have this serviced for 2 weeks. However, I'd like to know if it's alright for me to hold off replacing the battery since I leave it plugged anyway. If not, will it damage my Macbook if I don't do anything about it?
    Thanks

MBPs can run without functional battery, but high-draw operations still vampire off the battery sometimes.
Not to mention the above observed "battery swells and leaks corosive chemicals on the logic board".
    Go to Genius Bar.

  • Do I need to calibrate my battery?

I bought my 13" MBP (2.7 GHz i7) about a month ago and I noticed the battery run-time has decreased already. I mostly use the battery, and I plug it in to charge when it drops to around 60% or lower. Most of the time, I allow the battery to charge all the way, and recently it charges to only 98% or 97% at "Fully Charged". I turn off the computer, regardless of the battery percentage, when I don't use it. I know about calibrating laptop batteries, but I am not sure if I should do it, this part from Apple's website was a bit confusing:
    Additional Information
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.      "

Take it to an Apple Genius Bar to be checked out. It will either be the battery or the Logic board (not sure the charging circuit is a separate part. If it is then it mya be just that part).
If logic board just use it plugged in as for the cost of changing out the logic board you can buy a new system.

When I try to launch the Itunes app on my Iphone, it starts and then quits right away.  What should I do?

    I would reinstall iOS 7.
Open iTunes (11.1 or later) on your computer and plug your iPhone into your computer.
    Sync your iPhone with iTunes.
Click on your iPhone device and from the Summary Tab, Back up using iCloud and/or iTunes.
On your iPhone, open Settings/iCloud and turn off Find My Phone.
In iTunes, click on the Restore button on the Summary tab next to Check for Updates.
iTunes will completely wipe your phone and reinstall iOS 7.
Setup your iPhone as new and restore from your back up.
Check to see if the iTunes app is functioning correctly and not closing on you.
I did this last night when setting Limit Ad Tracking kept closing Settings and taking me back to the Home screen. After reinstalling iOS 7, the issue went away.

  • Should i calibrate ipad 4 battery? and best way

I have had iPad 4 for 1 and half years. Battery performance is still good but battery meter is acting weird. Battery jump drops to stuck at a percent for long. I have never calibrated battery as told by apple of full discharge and then full charge as i have heard it hurts the battery. Should i calibrate and how(best way)?. Thanks.

    Battery care
    1. Make sure you run the battery down to 5% and then charging it to 100% once a month.
    2. You should start charging your iPad when the battery charge is less than 10%. Over discharging the battery will shorten the lifespan of its battery.
    3. Never store the battery fully discharged. Apply some charge before storage, and then charge fully before use.
    4. When possible avoid frequent full discharges. Instead, charge the battery more often. There is no concern of battery's memory when applying unscheduled charges.
    5. Avoid iPad from overheating > 35°.
    6. Remove casing/sleeve when charging to allow heat to dissipate from back cover
    7. To save battery power turn off :
    a. background app refreshing
    b. push notifications and/or push mail
    c. lower screen brightness
    d. minimize the use of location services
    e. increase Fetch New Data interval.

  • Should I calibrate before first use?

I received my MacBook pro a few hours back and I haven't started it yet. I have kept it to charge fully. Should I calibrate it right away? Or would that be a waste of a cycle.

It isn't essential but should be done before you plan to use the computer on battery power.

  • When I calibrate my battery, do I have to drain it all in one sitting?

I've read about battery calibrating and watched videos. I'm unclear about one thing.
When I drain the battery, is it okay if I do it in two seatings? Example, I started last night and didn't drain the entire battery so I let it sleep. This morning it's low. Can I resume where I left off or do I have to drain the battery in one sitting?
Also, the macbook pro is relatively new (actually, refurbished). I didn't calibrate when I first got the machine because I didn't know I was supposed to. Is it really that much of an issue if I am calibrating the battery after using for a few days?
    Thank you!

You can resume where you left off. It makes no difference how many sessions it takes to deplete the battery, as long as you eventually do so and then let it rest at least five hours in that state before reconnecting the AC adapter. The most convenient time to leave it resting like that is generally while you're sleeping and the computer doesn't need to be used.
Not calibrating the battery immediately has no ill effects at all. The only reason to do it right away is to begin getting the most accurate battery readouts you can ASAP. You obviously haven't been concerned about that, so it's a non-issue. Do it when it's convenient for you.

  • Do I calibrate new battery? Still in box

What is the proper way to use a new battery.
Will it show a full charge when I install it?. Do I charge it fully first, or do I let it drain, and calibrate. Or drain and recharge fully. I just need to know the best practice for optimizing the new battery from the start.
Is it best to never let the battery drain? this is counter to all the talk about calibrating.
    Thanks

    Dean,
All of the new batteries are Lithium Ion which do not suffer from a battery memory.
Check this blurb out [LI-ON Battery advantages|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithiumionbattery#Advantages]
Anyway, there is no way way that it could have a full charge when you first install it just because batteries do drain when sitting around doing nothing. So if you're going portable right away then yes, completely charge it. It might say it is a high level percentage at the beginning but you can't be terribly sure as it might drain quickly because it isn't really charged.
As for proper maintenance check this link out from Apple, they tell you all sorts of info that you might find interesting [http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html]

  • Should I drain the battery of NEW iPad to 0 before fully charing it or not?

I am first time New iPad owner and I like to find out if i should complete drain the battery on the new iPad before giving it a full charge or just charge it right out of box for a better battery life in the long run. I think i read it somewhere that I should fully charge a NEW iPad for a better battery life, but I forget if i should drain all the battery (my ipad already has 92% battery life when turned on) on it before charing for the first time or just charing it right away for a full charge.

If it needs charging then charge it. Don't worry about it. There's nothing specific you need to do.
