Should I calibrate the battery in my MacBook Air?

Should I calibrate the battery in my MacBook Air?  The battery indicator reads (95%) although the battery is fully charged.

You don't have to but it's highly recommended for optimizing the performance, please read Apple's Battery Calibration article.

You should perform this procedure when you first use your computer? is this true? new macbook pro on may 11 2010 what happed was today on may 22 2010 i wanted to calibrate the battery my new macbook pro turns off when it runs out of battery. 3 times Typically, when macs run out of battery, they go into sleep mode. However mine skips this completely and just turns off. WHY? does this mean the battery is bad?
Resetting the PRAM (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/26871.html) fixed the problem in my case. then i did the calibrate the battery again this time it went to sleep not shut down i did this 3 more times why?
the 3 forced shut downs without entering SafeSleep. with logs indicating improper shutdown, will that cause severe corruption to the os and do i have to reinstall the os now?2.66 ghz 2010

the 9 more 4 in 10.6.4 forced shut downs without entering SafeSleep. with logs indicating improper shutdown, will that cause severe corruption to the os and do i have to reinstall the os now?2.66 ghz 2010 but if it happens again you should try
i hate to do this reinstalling the OS, if this do not work also, then you should call apple, or take your MBP to an apple store. on june 24 2010 i am going to talk to spence about this. so what do i do now? this happed on june 16 2010 4 more times
without entering SafeSleep. only one time it worked on 10.6.4

  • Is it possible to replace the battery of a MacBook Air?

hello, I just want to know if I can replace the battery of my MacBook Air?

If an older Air out of warranty, yes, however, only Apple sells genuine Apple batteries.   Aftermarket batteries have many issues I wont list.
It depends on your skills, ifixit.com has many videos on doing things yourself.    While I consider changing a battery incredibly easy, its a "hard" skill for some.
So your question is subjective to be certain.
IS is replaceable? yes, its a consumable and meant to be replaced.

can i replace the battery in my MacBook Air?

See the Battery Replacement section of Apple - Support - Service Answer Center
although, if you're out of warranty, and can tackle some dismantling :
MacBook Air Repair - iFixit has instructions for most models, but finding a reliable source for quality replacements may be a problem.

  • Why is the battery on my macbook air draining so fast?

    Hi there:
I have a 2 week new Macbook Air 13'', mid 2013 model. Yesterday, after being prompted to update to the latest of Mavericks, i have unplugged the laptop and left it in sleep mode. Overnight it went from 100% charged to 0.
    Has anyone experienced something similar?
Any help, or advice are appreciated.

You have a 14 day exchange period.  Take care of that now before time runs out.
100 to 0 overnight on sleep shouldn't happen.
However dont leave your Air on sleep overnight, turn it off.

  • Exploded battery on a Macbook Air (Macboom Air)

The battery on my Macbook Air suddenly became very hot and the whole aluminium unibody burst swollen. There is no warranty left but how does Apple handle such occasions?
It was shortly after a flight where the Macbook Air was in the cargo section of the airplane. It could have resulted a serious threat to the flight.
Here's a picture of the swollen Macbook Air:

    Tony

That's a clear cut mistreatment of the Air.
The Air never should have gone in the freezing cargo hold with also lack of pressurization!
The battery got extremely cold in the cargo section, and low pressure causing cell interior rupture.  No the flight was not under any serious threat.
Don't dare use it in its current state,... contact Apple for replacing the lithium battery.

  • How to get battery information for macbook air 13"

    Hi,
I am using macbook air 13" released by the end of last year.
For personal reason, I have to buy a new battery for my mba through the internet.
So, how can I check the battery information (such as release day and last day of warranty) using its serial number?
It is not easy to find such service in apple.com in case of macbook air battery.
    Thanks for your reply.
    Jonghun Park.

That page supports for (as it mentioned below)
iPhone, iPad, Mice and Trackpad, iSight, Portable Computers, AirPort, iPod, Displays, Xserve, Desktop Computers, Keyboards, Apple TV
NOT FOR THE BATTERY EMBEDDED IN MACBOOK AIR!! :<
(And the length of serial number of battery is longer than above HW products)
Thanks for your answer, by the way.

  • My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2  seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?

My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2+ seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?  It doesn't hold a charge either...

    EmadJamal,
the battery won’t melt because of long connection to the AC charger, although that has the potential of reducing the battery’s life.
Do you have access to a second 60 W AC charger to test with your MacBook Pro, or access to a second 13-inch MacBook Pro against which your AC charger could be tested?

  • Can I leave the battery in my macbook even though I always have it plugged

Hi just bought a Macbook over the weekend and am new to mac after a few days I totally enjoy the os and probally will never use windows again but my question is I leave my macbook plugged in all the time should I leave the battery in and is ok to leave the macbook on all day while I am downloading files thank you

Hi, and welcome to the Apple Discussions.
You can leave your battery in if you leave it plugged in all the time, however it may affect the battery life negatively. See this article: http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
And if you do decide to leave it plugged in with the battery in, you should calibrate the battery regularly.
And yes, you can leave it running all day while downloading files.

  • Should i keep the battery on when it is connected to the AC

    hello
    i have a question:
my macbook is always vonnected to the ac,, i don't move it around"seldom"
so i'm owndering,,will this affect my battery,,
should i keep the battery on when it is connected to the AC?
    or should i remove it?
    thanks in advance

    Hi multiple 1,
Modern battery technology now prevent battery becoming overcharged or create memory effect, so like First Magus said, it is ok to leave the battery in your macbook all the time.
But apple also recommend user to use their battery once a while or calibrate to refresh the battery cell.
    Good Luck.

  • The battery for my macbook pro 13 says "service battery".  Now I want to get a replacement but the reviews for it are horrible! Does anybody have any suggestions?

The battery for my macbook pro 13 says "service battery".  Now I want to get a replacement but the reviews for it are horrible! Does anybody have any suggestions? I don't want to spend 130 dollars on something I'm going to have to replace in less than a year (which is what normally I been reading)  I do design work and I take my mac everywhere.  Having to always look for a plug or having to be constantly plugged in doesn't sound ideal to me.  Please help me. what should I do???

Why does it matter if it a scam????? I'll let you figure that out by yourself.  If I'm going to replace it, why should I be contempt with a battery that I have to replace within months (as stated by some people in the comments). The issue here is not if I should or not replace it OBVIOUSLY I'm going to have to before it starts going crazy.  The underlying issue is why is the replacement battery for a lack of better words " a bit crap."  It comes with a 3 month guarantee?? Is that a joke?!??!?! Some people complained it malfunction after only 8- 9 months? I'm sorry but as an Apple fan I think it's absolutely rubbish. I know there is no magic cure I'm just hoping someone shines the light on how crappy this replacement is.

  • When the battery of my macbook pro is finished, the computer shuts down and I have to turn it on again

Previously when my macbook pro battery reaches 0%, the computer entered hibernation state, and when connecting the power adapter a progress bar appeared and appeared my content as it was when turned off.
Dede a while back when the battery is depleted macbook off, and when connecting the power adapter I have to press the power button and the machine starts again and it was kept open applications or files that were in use.

You should not be completely draining your battery as normal use. I'm not sure if I'm following you correctly, but with a complete drain it is expected to have to hit the power button to activate the system.
