Should I completely use my battery before charging?
I just bought a MBP with retina...15 max'd out. Should i kill my battery (is it healthy?) every time before recharging it? does it matter if i only charge it to 70% every time? Should i leave it plugged into the AC whenever i can?
~Thanks
No. Constant discharging and charging is injurious to the health of the battery.
Use it on battery whenever needs to be.
Keep the computer plugged in whenever possible.
If you keep the computer always plugged in, make sure that twice a month
run it on battery until battery level drops to about 50-40%.

Do i need to drain the ipad battery before charging it in a wall outlet?
do i need to drain the ipad battery before charging it in a wall outlet?
You can charge at any time, but see link below about calibrating battery.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. I usually charge my iPad after all the battery drains out but someone told me it damage the software so I wanna know if draining out the full battery is good or not. Thank you.
Lithium based batteries as in the iPad do not respond well to repeated draining.

Phone won't allow use until battery is charged slightly
When I plug the phone in after its battery has died, it won't let me use it for about 10 minutes. All I see is the battery charging indicator.
This could pose a problem in an emergency, At the very least it causes inconvenience when I need to make a quick phone call.
I assume this is normal behavior. Does anyone know why it happens? It's possible during certain situations for the device to momentarily draw more power than the USB cable can safely provide. USB ports provide a maximum of 5 volts DC at 500 milliamps. If the device draws more power than this, then the computer will cut power to the device. It needs a minimum battery charge to guarantee adequate power reserves.
Yes, this is normal. No, you can't do anything about it.
At least two other cell phones that I've owned would not turn on for the first few minutes after plugging in the charger, if the battery was previously depleted. -
Can`t load accu completely using an extra USB-charger - using the PC it wor
Hallo all!
During my holidays a tried to charge my Zen Micro Photo without having a PC. I tried two methods - first I used a common power supply with 5V and a little workaround with two wires to load the built out accu. It worked fine until the accu was loaded apporximately up to 80%. I thought o.k., it looks that I can't save the money for a special UBS-travel-charger. That was my next step, I bought a little USB-charger (5V / 500mA)and spent nearly 30 Euros - the result was the same! Has anybody an idea or a hint for me?
Thanks!
LG
hansI would guess that 500mA is just plain not enough power to charge the device the whole way. I have a Vision:M and the A/C charger it came with is something like 3.6A (3600mA) I believe.

itunes restore did not work what do i do now
Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

I have just got my iPad2 and am very pleased with it. I have a question regarding the monthly (recommended) battery full charge. Should I let the battery completely die down to nothing at all before I plug in to recharge or would this complete drain be bad for my iPad?
It's not bad for it - on this page www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html it says :
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down). -
My iphone 5 gets hot while using it and while charging too.... Please help me what should i do?? Should i replace the battery....?? Because it gets hot even within 5 minutes also.... And it is happening from 2 weeks daily.
The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup... Restore as New...
Restart / Reset > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Backing up, Updating and Restoring > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try all these steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...
Be sure to make an appointment first... -
Does it drain the battery to charge before completely empty?
Does it drain the battery to charge before completely empty?
No, actually draining the battery completely is worse for it. Batteries will only charge to what they need. You can see this for more answers. http://www.apple.com/batteries/

I bought a new iPad mini and was wondering if I need to let the battery run down to the point where it shuts off on its own before charging it for the first time. I know the battery degenerates on its own over time, but I'm trying to get the most out of my battery so any help you can give would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your help.dcmills33 wrote:

No. Just use your iPad and don't obsess about its battery. It will last for years.

I have an IPhone 4, its less than a year old. Without warning it won't turn on. I used it less than 30 minutes ago, the battery has charge in it, but the phone will not turn on. I tried connecting the charge lead but it still won't turn on.
Have you try to hard reset your phone? Holding both power and home button until the apple logo appears on screen.
Hope this advice may help you. -
Should I completely discharge my laptop battery?
I have a Satellite A660 laptop. I've read that you should completely discharge batteries every month so that the charger can recalibrate on what is 0% versus 100%. Does this apply to this laptop? This also means I turn off the safety feature of hibernating when the charge dwindles to 8%. Doesn't it mean that the disk heads crash once the charge dies?
Hi, Timox,
Yes, I found much online when I surfed. There isn't necessarily complete consensus on everything. For example, some people (including the link you provided) suggested discontinuing the charging process once 100% is reached, but others say that the discontiuation is automated. Still others claim that you should remove the battery, or (in your link) disconnect the AC supply. There was no explanation for disconnecting the AC supply, but the explanation for removing the battery was so that it would not be exposed to heat. Apparently, this is only a concern when the laptop is in high performance, so it isn't black and white. It also depends on the laptop design, i.e., whether the battery is close to heat sources. In my case, I use the battery as a UPS, so it doesn't make sense for me to remove it from the laptop.
From what I've gathered, you should fully discharge the battery to 5% once a month. Under the Balanced power profile, the default action for the Critical battery level seems to be properly set for this.
