Should I downgrade to Infinity 1?

I have had Infinity 2 for over 1 year and only just realised -
I'm getting 40 down & 18 up on all IOS wireless devices (iPad & iPhone). When I plug my laptop in via Ethernet, I get 70 down & 18 up.
I never use my laptop with Ethernet as all my use is via wireless devices. Can my iOS devices ever get >40 down or should I just downgrade to Infinity 1 and save some money. I'd rather change something to get the faster speed though! I re signed only 1 month ago so I am still within the 3 month time to get it sorted (if the problem lies outside my control).

Apple devices seem to have a problem with the dual frequencies having the same SSid.
Try giving the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies different SSids. Just add a 5 to the end of the 5Ghz SSid so you know which is which. Check the 5 GHz Sync with 2.4 GHz: is set to NO.
Once you have done that "forget" the connection on your devices and then restart them and log onto both.

Should i downgrade iPhone 3G to 3.1.3?

Hi everybody,
My iPhone 3G, running iOS 4.2.1, is running like crap. (This probably is the biggest cliché by now).
But the question is, should i downgrade to iOS 3.1.3 (or an earlier OS) and try and get back that smooth butter like interface..?
I have read some guides on how to downgrade. My real concern is that some of my apps will not be compatible...
What have some of you done....?? How are you managing.... ??

Hi, I was the first person in my area to get BT infinity nearly a year ago and at the time I was getting 72mb down and 19+ up (from a max 76mb/ 20mb). after a few months that dropped to 63mb/18mb (from a max 68/mb/20mb) then it dropped before xmas to 56mb/17mb (from a max 64mb/20mb) now I get around 51mb/17mb and the max to my house is 58mb/20. I accept that some loss will happen as new customers join but my initial upto 76mb is now upto 58mb. my max speed achievable has dropped 23% whilst my actual speed has dropped by 30%.
How much lower should I expect it to drop and what figure should I consider unacceptable ?
if it drops another 12mb to infinity 1 speeds would I be entitled to infinity 1 prices
all from bt wholesale speedtests.

Should I downgrade from OSX 10.8.5 to OSX 10.4, then upgrade to 10.5 or 10.6 from there?

Ever since I upgraded to 10.8 earlier this year, my MBP seems to struggle with every application and process. Nothing operates smoothly, and Chrome, which I absolutely loved using prior, is significantly outperformed by safari. I can no longer view the 1080p video from my GoPro Hero 1 (which played flawlessly smooth on Snow leopard), start up and shut down times are embarrassing, and simply scrolling any page in any application lags. I've also performed a clean install, but to no avail.
I think that restoring my computer back to OSX 10.4, then upgrading to 10.5 or 10.6 might be the best solution for me.
Background on my 15" MBP that I purchased in August 2007.

I backed my computer up with 10.4, upgraded to 10.5, using the same external drive to back everything up via Time Machine in 10.5, and from 10.5 I upgraded to 10.8 which I've also used the same external drive to create a Time machine back up for.
What should I do?

I'm not opposed to doing that. I have a 10.6 disk that came included with my mothers iMac. Being that it isn't the retail version, would that work?

Here we go I'm one for going for the latest tec.
At the moment I'm with *another ISP*, one problems in 2 years, and then, I spoke to people in Scotland who understood me, and I them (problem was solved).
My last experience wit BT was five years ago when I had to keep asking for there customer supervisor so I could get my point across, and that was with a 12 month contract, the new 18 month frightens me.
So as my exchange has FTTC (Poplar) what would you recommend going for it or waiting for it to settle down and not go for the hype, remember I’m adding to my home network and may need the extra download and upload.

even though the poplar exchange has FTTC have you checked that your cabinet has infinity as not all cabinets have been upgraded

I am having problems exporting video form Lightroom 4.2 should I downgrade? Suggestions?

I have recently been processing some time lapse videos when the 4.2 version was released and I updated my Lightroom. With 4.1 it was taking approx. 20 - 25 min to export a 1 minute video, with 4.2 it started taking about 5-6 hours when it doesn't stall and crash part way through. It seems to start quite quickly then about one third of the way through it slows to a standstill. I haven't installed or made any changes to my computer. The other two problem I've been having are lagging when using the spot removal tool, up to 30 seconds between spot removals and my Smug Mug plugin keeps disappearing for no known reason. The video is my biggest problem at the moment. Should I switch back to 4.1? Here are my specs from my computer(taken while processing a video:

What versions should I DOWNgrade to?

So I see that Apple decided, with the new version of OS X and iTunes that I installed, that note files can't be simply copied to the iPod anymore, the way they used to. Instead, you have to have an internet connection on your Mac and go through the Mail program.
I'm kind of a Luddite. I don't let the internet touch my personal computer at all. My only net connection is through public computers and a USB thumbdrive. And since I loathe cell phones and refuse to own one, I need note files on my iPod for all sorts of handy reference.
The only solution I can see is to go back to an older version of iTunes and perhaps the iPod driver. Can anyone (who KNOWS what they're talking about) please tell me what versions of that software I should download?

OK, here's why you shouldn't edit at 24 (=23.98).
You can change the 30fps footage to 29.97 by simply conforming the frame rate of the clip, as others have pointed out--in other words, slowing it down by .1%. Each frame will remain exactly as it was recorded, it will just be played for 1/29.97 of a second instead of 1/30.
As others have pointed out, this will require you to slow down any synched audio by .1% as well. But there will be no quality hit to your footage. Yes, it will have to be compressed to ProRes, but that's it.
However, if you use Compressor to change the frame rate to 23.98, it can't simply drop one out of every five frames, and it can't just play each frame for 1/23.98 of a second, because that will be noticeable. It will have to invent frames that don't currently exist, and this will involve a significant quality hit. Things may look soft; the motion may look funky.
I guess what I'm saying is that, let's be honest, doing a film transfer from 30p is not going to look good. Doing a film transfer from video is already a big quality hit, and changing the frame rate is going to make that worse. If you really wanted to keep 35mm as a viable option, you should have shot film or at least an HD format that allows for 24p.
That's not to say you don't have lots of distribution options. But you shouldn't compromise the quality of your 30p master, which could be used for TV or DVD distribution, in favor of a potential 35mm transfer that (a) probably won't happen and (b) will not look good if it does.

Should I downgrade from Maverick to Mountain Lion 10.8?

Your comments are welcome regarding my concern about Maverick downgrading to Mounain Lion. here's my case.
I just upgraded to Maverick and now I notice that as per my temperature monitor app it shows a high readings ranging from 70-85 C above.
(MPlayer, MSWord, MSExe, Safari are all open) Im doing this always and not having this reading not until I upgrade my OSX to Maverick.
I am not comfortable on high temp in my unit because as per my understanding that will speed up the wear and tear of the machine.
I'm also having a suspicion if my Temperature Monitor might not showing the right reading because maybe its not compatible to the new OSX.
But I feel that Maverick has lot's of hidden issues for old MBP's like me (btw I'm using 2011 15 inch) so I am now thinking to downgrade to 10.8 Mt. Lion
My follow-up question is how to do that? Please share some links to guide me.
But if this issue can be fix I will stay using Mavericks.

Before giving up on Mav's "which is actually pretty great for laptops", do a little housekeeping.
1) look at activity monitor and see if something is using a bunch of CPU, things like mdworker and the like are reindexing your drive which can take hours. If it is something else, seek help for that.
2) repair permissions after upgrading so make sure system file access is not impaired
3) boot in safe mode at least once to flush dynamic linker cache (hold shift key at startup chime, when you get to the login prompt, just reboot again but in a normal fashion).
4) reset PRAM (hold command-R-Opt-P at startup chime)
5) let your TM backup have the time it needs to finish, the first time after an upgrade can be long, just give it time
If after a day or two you still dislike Mav's, then you can reformat your SDD and reinstall ML. If TM has been updated by Mav's then use a ML clone to bring over settings, data, & apps. I have tried this and it works. I have not tried to migrate from a Mav's updated TM from a ML install. That seems a bit problematic to me but apple may have made provisions for this to work...I don't know.

You cannot downgrade the iOS since it is not supported. This support article explains how to trouble shoot 3rd party apps on the iPad.

If all third party apps will not open, try downloading another app. Any free app will work or any already purchased app that is not currently on the iPad.
If the troubleshooting article doesn help, I would try this. Close all apps and reboot the iPad.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8 & Firefox 9.0.1. It takes a significantly longer amount of time for Firefox to open now. I've always had about 5-6 pin tabs that automatically open, but this was never a problem before. Should I downgrade, or is there a fix? Thx.

Not sure why it takes almost 1-2 minutes for Firefox to fully open and load. It's also not an internet issue, as Safari opens immediately.

Since upgrading Firefox, within Win7, I cannot embed pictures into an email. I can only attach. How can I embed pics...or should I downgrade?

So...within the body of an email, I click on the icon (I think it is a square with a tree in it??) to browse my photos of product images and select one and click OK. With previous versions of FireFox, a picture shows in the email. Now, after upgrading, there is only a broken link error icon. FYI, we are using Network Solutions Webmail and have been using it for several years.

Moving: Infinity not available - options?

Sorry if this has been asked before or if it's in the wrong section. I'm new, so be gentle
Currently, I've got Vision, Infinity and a land line with BT. Unfortunately, I'll be moving to a new property that hasn't got Infinity. Since I need >40GB download limit, I would have to move to a new 12 month contract on broadband, which is (I guess) 6-7 times slower. Cancelling the whole package is going to cost me over 300 pound, which is too steep.
So, I was wondering if you have any advice on which options I'd have?

I would suggest you contact BT sales on 150 and explain you are moving to a non infinity area and need to downgrade to a standard Broadband package explain it is not your fault they cannot provide the service and there for should be downgraded at no charge

Paying for Infinity 2, speed is less than advertis...

I am paying for Infinity 2 "Superfast Fibre" but my speed is rubbish. Reported to BT and engineer was out yesterday, tested line and everything is ok
He reckons i'm just too far from the Cabinet and would never get the speeds suggested in the ad and as below, so it looks like I am paying £5 a month just for BT Cloud.
Is best option just to contact BT and downgrade to Infinity 1 or would this slow me down even more/
Speed tests have been run over the last week at all times of day via wired connection straight into to HH3 and consistently come out at 24Mb

How far from the cabinet are you. See graph for speed to distance.
Regardless of that, you are out side even the lowest speed Range B estimate. You need to contact BT again and report that your speed is 24Mbps and your estimated speed should be between the Range A estimate of 39Mbps to 59Mbps and that you want another engineer, who is prepared to look for the fault and the reason you are not getting your estimated speed, rather than fob you of with an excuse about being to far from the cabinet.
If that was the case your estimated speed on the checker would reflect that.

Bt infinity 100m upgrade

If I decide to have bt infinity would I be able to upgrade or downgrade from Infinity 2 to infinity 100m or vice versa

Downgrade?? surely Infinity 2 is a downgrade from the 100MB package? if that is what your talking about.
If you have the option of FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) you should be able to upgrade or change as you please, although that may incur you taking out another contract with B.T.
