Should I get a replacment on my macbook 2?                       NOT A POLL

This post was deleated i guess because people thought it was a poll, but is ISNT!
Should I get a replacment because my:
-Arrow keys dont work quite right
-Remote sometimes doesnt work
-Clicking sound on both right and left sides
-MegSafe sometimes wont charge when battery is about 94%
-Trackpad makes matalic sound
and can I get a refund (see my other post!)
Thanks,
aha

You'll need to contact Apple about this. No one here can say what they will decide to do. If you purchased your MacBook in the past 14 days, you can exchange it... if it's longer than that, Apple will most likely repair it. Speaking to Apple should be your first course of action.
Your question was probably deleted because you weren't actually asking a support question. You're not asking how to resolve anything... only if you should get a replacement... which we can't answer.
I also see in your other post that you wanted to return your config-to-order MacBook for a refund... but didn't mention you were having any problems with it:

  • Should I get a replacement?

Well I have two problems with my 2G ipod touch:
    1. its battery will drain 50% or so overnight sometimes, and that gets really irritating. is this a hardware problem or a software problem? should i get a replacement or wait for a firmware update?
    2. the Wi-Fi will not work sometimes. again, is it a hardware problem or a software problem? should i replace it or wait?
    Thanks

You just diagnosed your problem, then!
No, he hasn't. I listen to music to fall asleep, right after surfing web for about 2 hours and keep wi-fi on all night, and my battery never drains that fast, I usually charge it ones in every 3 days or so.
To the original poster, check in your settings to see if it's pushing emails, fetching new data, that might be draining your battery.

  • Should I get an iMac or a MacBook Pro

I am wondering wether or not i should get an iMac or a MacBook Pro at this time? I am a gamer, but not a hardcore one. I will occasionally play cod. Also, i will use my computer to watch movies and videos. I don't know what to get. I am deciding between something more portable or something more immersive.

The benchmarks on the best iMac desktop is not that much better then the 17" MBP laptop according to most sources: c.10400 (MBP) vs. c.11600 (iMac)+.
Get the laptop, then get an Apple 27" screen to go with it. Get the best of both worlds.
Costs more but that's life to get more options, hey ;-)
I have the same setup, and works for me.
(...oh and BTW, if you buy the MBP together with certain other Apple products (eg. screen, time capsule, et al), and purchase the advisable Applecare for the laptop; they all get covered under the laptop policy so you don't have to buy Applecare for each one individually! Which I think is a nice policy on Apple's part — though obviously they get you to buy more stuff at the same time [i.e. also a clever marketing technique] ;-)
    Hope helps.

  • How large of a backup drive should I get for my 500 GB MacBook Pro?

I have a MBP with a 500 GB hard drive. How large of a backup drive should I get for time machine backups? If I get a 500 GB drive will it just back up everything twice (as I have 250 used) and then delete the second backup every time it rebacks up so I will just have 2 backups? Or does time machine only backup changes every time it backs up? Thanks in advance.

OK, so I ordered a Seagate 1.5 TB external drive. That should suffice for my iMac w/ 320 GB and MBP w/ 500 GB shouldnt it?
Probably. See #1 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip* at the top of this forum.
Should I just partition it 750/750? or maybe 600/600/300
Use roughly the same proportions as the data on the two Macs, adjusted for how you use them. If one changes lots of big files frequently and the other doesn't, give more space to the first one.
so I have space to put random files as well?
If you put important stuff on a 3rd partition, you can have TM back it up, too (unless the drive is attached to your Airport), but it will send you a warning reminding you that it's not a good idea to have both originals and backups on the same physical disk. You'll be much better off finding another way to back that up, perhaps archiving to CDs/DVDs.
Am I able to partition it and use it with my airport extreme?
    Officially, no: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/15139.html
    and: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2426
But some folks (including me) are doing it anyway!
So if it works for you, just be aware it's technically unsupported, and you'll get little or no help from Apple if there are problems. And a future update may break it.

  • Should I get a 13" or 15" Macbook Pro with retina laptop?

I, FINALLY, after one year of wanting to get a new laptop to use as my primary computer replacing my desktop computer at home.........have decided to switch gears from a Windows computer to a MACBOOK PRO with RETINA laptop. It's not an easy decision when you are spending SO much money on something you hope will last a long time as I do NOT plan on getting a new laptop once I buy this one for a very long time (until it breaks / can no longer function)!
My dilemma now is whether to go with the high end 13" Macbook Pro OR get a similar if not higher end 15" Macbook Pro. Here's background on myself and what I plan on using the laptop for:
I plan on using it as my new primary computer for home so primarily for my personal use, but I will be using it also for work so I will be using it for basically EVERYTHING!
I will use it to do word processing (MS Word), to do my finances (reconcile my bank stmts/accounts), using MS Excel for accounting work, check my emails, research the Internet, photo editing (pretty much basic, definitely not advanced) and creating slideshows with my photos/music, downloading/playing music. I do not plan on using it to play any games.
I use alot of MS Office / Excel and some Powerpoint - either for work or home.
I need alot of storage space for photos (recreational - up to 400 per vacation trip) and I plan on creating slideshows with the photos using Apple's great photo/video/slideshow apps! At last count, I had about 100GB of photo files.
I also need alot of storage for my music files - I have @ least 12GB of music right now and am always downloading more each year.
I plan on taking it with me outside of home only on the weekends for the most part like to a cafe (Starbucks) or library, but not for anything further than that (not for travel as I will just take my ipad).
I know it's only ~1lb difference in weight, but a couple of my concerns is since it will be my primary home computer (i.e.I'll be using it in the evenings/on the weekends and probably more (since it's an Apple!) to work on photos/slideshows, if the screen size difference will matter in the longrun in terms of having any impact on my vision (not sure if the 2" will make a difference in that). I'm only 45yo, but I do worry about that!  I tried both the 13" and 15" in the Apple store and the only difference I saw was that the 15" screen allowed you to have multiple programs visible on the screen side by side, but viewing the actual programs was the same (in size). I don't really view programs side by side right now (I use the ALT-TAB shortcut alot to view multiple programs I have open at once), but I could see how having programs viewable side by side could come in handy.
I had a Toshiba 17" laptop before that was too HEAVY to lug around even if on the weekend so I no longer want a heavy laptop and want something more portable to take with me on my weekend excursions to the local cafe/library which basically means going from home to car and car to location at most, but when I go to use the restroom, I like to take it with me (do not feel safe leaving it behind on table) so I don't want it too heavy.
I do plan on getting me a Western Digital external hard drive to backup ALL my files yet since I plan on keeping the computer for as long as it'll hold up, I want to make sure I have alot of storage to keep up with me. I like the flashdrive component because there are fewer moving parts so less likely to have problems in the long run and given that (despite my need for alot of storage), I'll backup my photos/music to external drives should I end up maxing out on my storage.
I value your opinions, please help me DECIDE!!!!! I'm frustrated and it's driving me nuts!!! I know it's too much to ask, but if they had a 14", I would probably go with it!  A 2" difference seems pretty big. :-)
    THANK YOU!!!

Thanks guys. I'm set on the 15" now and am now deciding on whether I should go with the standard MBP or the MBP with retina display? I'm not an advanced photographer, but I do like to take alot of photos especially when travelling and I do plan on creating slideshows with my photos synched with music. I don't think I'd be one to really be able to tell the difference between a retina vs. non-retina screen given that since I can't really tell the difference between a tv screen with vs. without HD. So for me, I don't think it'd be about the retina display at all. It is more about the storage capacity AND the fact that I hear with the retina/flash storage, that there are less apt to have problems down the road so a more sturdy a machine.  Given I take alot of photos/will be creating slideshows wth my photos, and downloading/playing music, I'm thinking the standard MBP might be better storage-wise. But also given I plan on keeping this laptop for a long time (basically, until it breaks or becomes too slow to function productively), that makes me want to go the retina/flash storage route. SIGH.
Should I not be so concerned about the longevity of the machine, but rather opt for the one with more storage?

  • Where can I get a replacement battery for macbook 7,1 13"?

My battery condition is at "replace now" and the battery life is so poor that my macbook is now essentially a desktop, however I don't know where to find the right type of battery, and obviously I don't want to purchase the wrong type. Does anyone know where I can get one?
    Please help!

The model 6,1 Late 2009 and the model 7,1 Mid 2010 A1342 use an A1331 battery. You can replace it yourself or have Apple do it for you for $129. If you need it quickly make sure you order it from a U. S. seller. Orders from China can take two or three weeks.

Here's installation instructions. You'll need a Tri Wing Y1 screwdriver in addition to the usual #00 Phillips screwdriver.

  • Help! should i get my replacement phone exchange again? because there still has somebody's information left!

long story short, got my new iphone 5 on two weeks ago from radio shack, and got replacement from radio shack with same day due to overheat issue, and there cames a problem with battery drios with this replacement phone, because I don't know that radio shack got 30 days reuturn policy and they really gave me a hard time when exchange, so I went to apple store with two times and got my exchange, and I wasn't know the replacement phone was refurblished neither they told me, otherwise I definately won't change.
and I just found in setting-general-profile, there is somebody's profile in here , check the attachment, please note that this is after I restored with itunes and this information still in here.
I really don't know whether I should get exchange again? because they will still get me refurblished phone right?
    thanks for your help!

    Stop being so impatient.
If the device you received as a replacement from Apple has someone else's information they would not have allowed you to leave the store with it.  This would have been extremely obvious from the moment the device was powered up.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish here?  This all seems very suspicous.
Also, there is no such thing as a "new" iPhone5, they are no longer produced.  All iPhones come with a 1 year warranty... if the device is under warranty and the issue is covered, Apple will replace the device as many times as necessary until the warranty is expired.
It sounds more like the device was purchased as refurbished in which case there may be no warranty and everything may need to be addressed via RadioShack.

  • Should I get a £999 13 Inch Macbook Air with 128 GB SSD or a £1249 13 Inch Retina Macbook Pro with 128GB SSD

I am a twelve year old boy ready to get my first Mac computer. I already have an iPad 3 and I really like it. Now I'm going to start saving up for a Mac and I am down to two choices, as listed above. I'm going to be using it for web browsing, games, drawing, word documents, presentations, movies, video calling, messages, Windows 8 and I will be using quite a few apps from the Mac App Store.
Also could you tell me how long Apple support the MacBook Air with the latest version of OS X and how long they support the MacBook Pro with the latest OS.
I also want to know if it is worth paying £200 to upgrade a 128GB SSD to a 256GB one.

If past history serves, Apple will support the 2013 models for 5-7 years with new OS upgrades but there's no guarantee. However that doesn't mean the computer will be worthless. I have a 10-11 year old Mac serving as a guest computer running an OS two versions old. It still does everything our guests would want to do while they are visiting.
The 128GB drive is the smallest I'd recommend and for a teen (who is likely to collect media and lots of software) I'd call the 256GB a very good idea - especially ince you indicate you want to run Win8 too.
The retina MacBook has a gorgeous display and has a faster processor but all those extra pixels push the GPU to the max. Until faster GPUs come along I'm avoiding the retina computers.

  • Should I get the imac 2012 or MacBook Pro retina

I can't choose between the imac 2012 or the MacBook Pro retina display. i have an iPad to take with me on the go. I am a photographer. I do lots of photo editing. I'm also a student. If you could help what would be great. What do you have? What would you get? What's best for editing photos? Remember I have an iPad, so I'm really looking for the best computer. Thanks

One plus for the MBP is that it's portable, whereas the iMac is not. And if you need more screen space when working at home, you can always keep an external monitor in your studio.
Plus for the iMac is the 'built-in' larger screen, but there is no portability.
If you want a portable machine, get a MBP - you can't do the photo editing on the iPad that you would want while you can on the MBP.
If portability is not an issue, get the iMac.
Back in the G4 days, I had both a G4 tower and a PowerBook G4. Used the first at my desk and the latter around town and around the house. Now I have only a MBP and it's tethered to my desk 90% of the time since I bought an Apple Thunderbolt Display. But I like being able to take it out for a spin that 10% of the time when I'm away from my desk.
Portability and screen size would be the deciding factors for me. A 15" MBP almost demands a larger external monitor to use for photography, etc., while the unportable iMac has the larger screen already.
So decide if you need/want portability first and foremost and then make your decision.

  • Can't open my FCP 6.0.6.  Which FCP should I get to replace upgrade it?

Seems like a fatal problem.  Don't have original FCP disk.  So I think I need a new program?  Before I do, though, want to make sure is will be able to open  my current projects?  Thanks in advance!

Here are a couple of things to try:
    1. Open up the Console (Applications/Utilities) and check for any reported errors or crashes related to Final Cut or Compressor.
    2. Try resetting your preferences. To do this, go to your user folder, then go to Library/Preferences and scroll down to com.apple.compressor.Compressor.plist. There will be two entries for Compressor. Delete these and try again to see if it works.

  • Should I get a 2013 macbook air, a macbook pro 13 inch, a regular macbook pro or wait for the next generation of haswell macbook pros?

So im a little confused, i dont know what macbook should i get.
    I want a macbook for:
    surf the web
Do some school work like powerpoint, excel, word etc.
    store music and pictures
This macbook i will probably have it for like 3 years so i wanna make sure the macbook i choose will last.
I really would like a macbook pro but the thing is that i`ve have been hearing that a new generation of retina macbook pros will be coming this fall so i wanna know your opinion if it is worth waiting for the next gen of macbooks.
    thanks

For what your doing, a $400 PC laptop will do and if it gets lost or stolen (as long as you make backups) it's really no big deal. Buy another.
A Mac will set you back almost $2000 for the same performance by the time you thrown in the 3 year warranty, tax and backup drives etc.
The higher end Mac's closer to $3000.
Also after 3 years after spending so much money you want to fix it to keep it going, a cheap PC you just get a new one.
In some instances it's not smart to get a Mac, they are often a target for theft and if your young, your prey.

  • What MacBook should I get??

What MacBook should I get? I want a MacBook this year and I know costs but nothing extremely expensive. I usually have 5 - 6 tabs open, listen to a lot of music, play disc games and occasionally photo edit and those sorts of things. But I don't know what MacBook to get because im not a computer savvy person plus there is a lot of choice so any help is greatly appreciated!

There is no answer to your question (that makes sense) since usage - even of the same applications - varies widely.
As a general thought, more memory is happiness. The screen size is a personal preference. Larger is nice, but I find my 13" screen is quite satisfactory.

iPhone warranty is not international, but is valid only in
the country of original purchase. Since you bought the iPhone
in the UK, your warranty is valid anywhere in the EU but not
in Egypt. You can gry taking it to an Apple authorized reseller,
but don't be surprised if they tell you they cannot do anything.

  • Do you get a replacement phone when you send yours in?

When something messes up on your iPhone 5, and you send it in, do you get a replacement phone?

Apple does not repair your iPhone (at least not that I've ever heard of); they replace it, usually with a refurbished unit. You'll only get your original iPhone back if the technician can't reproduce the problem, or it turns out not to be a hardware problem.
