Should I Get Another Use Account?

Hello!
I currently have a .mac account and plan to use the IWEB software to create link pages that will work with my TypePad blog.
I also want to use IWEB for my church's web site, which has not been set up as of yet. Seems from what I have read that maybe the best option is to purchase an account specifically for the church and use that for the web site. What I am wondering is if that will cause me problems when it comes time for web publishing? I realize that the URL names will be different because my user name is different from the one I will use for the church, but I am still using the same software for both and I am not sure how that will work. When I open IWEB it opens to my current site and pages. I am a little confused as to how I will develop and manage two different web sites together.
How can I have two accounts on the same computer and use the same software, but keep them separate? Hope this makes sense.
Thanks for your thoughts! RM

You don't have to have separate .Mac accounts or user accounts to publish more than one website.
You would be better to separate out your websites on different domain files either manually or using the freeware application iWebsites...
http://mistergregg.com/cocoadrillosoftware/iWebSites/
As long as the websites have different names they will coexist on one .Mac account.
Having them on separate domain files allows you to work on them and publish them one at a time.
The URL for any site is..
http://web.mac.com/username/WebsiteName/PageName.html
So that your user name is not in your Church website URL you could register a domain name for it and direct it at the website on .Mac from the File/Set Up Personal Domain in iWeb.

  • Should I Create Another Apple Account For Game Center?

    I have heard of issues where a person is doing software development work and they end up in a Game Center Sandbox instead of the real Game Center.
    I am doing iOS software development work for both iPhone and iPad. In order to proactively avoid issues where my development world clashes with me as an end user, should I create another apple account and if so how?
    Thanks!
    P.S. I have apple care protection plan support for both mac and iPhone. If I should use one of those avenues, please let me know.

    You can continue to use all the apps on your phone, but if not physically located in the US anymore, you won't be able to purchase from the US store.

  • What kind of bluetooth dongle(usb) should I get to use my Magic Mouse properly?

    My Mac Pro doesn't have bluetooth. What kind of bluetooth dongle(usb) should I get to use my Magic Mouse properly? I already have one, but it makes the mouse seriously lacking.

    I keep the dongle plugged into the back of my apple 27" monitor so that means it is only 1 to 2 feet away from the mouse.  Don't plug it into the mac pro itself if that is at any distance from the mouse.  The closer you can keep the dongle to the mouse the better.
    Do a smc and pram reset.
    If all is lost, and you have xcode installed then you can do a bluetooth factory reset.
    Note that if you should sleep your machine, power is off the usb's, so the dongle is off.  This means you cannot wake the machine with any BT devices like the mouse (I use a wired keyboard).  Also sometimes upon waking the machine the mouse does not immediately re-pair (maybe 20% of the time).  So you have to flip its switch to get the system's attention.
    While I do have internal BT, using the dongle disables the internal (at least for 2010 mac pro's).
    And of course BT would go inactive if you pulled the dongle out!

  • Which Macbook Pro should i get for use with Solidworks?

    I want to get a Macbook Pro but unsure whether to go for the higher end 13 inch or the lower end 15 inch.
    I will be running Solidworks(CAD) a lot as im in my final year of an engineering degree.
    Has anyone got either and had any problems etc?
    Thanks

    Yes, the MBP you've suggested will do fine with MainStage but at the same time, I'd recommend you getting the fastest machine you can realistically afford as MS is still a very resource-hungry beast.....especially once you get to know it and decide that you want to do extra stuff that you didn't originally intend to do with it!
    I also run a MOTU Ultralite MK3 and can recommend this as a very good bang-for-buck interface.....especially the new hybrid model (which I don't have) that has both firewire AND USB. Apart from Apogee interfaces - which are apparently phenomenal (and phenomenally expensive!) - I've also heard extremely good things about the RME Fireface 400 and 800 interfaces.
    But back to the MOTU Ultralite MK3: it has heaps of I/O, is half-rack space (so very portable), is bus-powered (with A/C option), has onboard DSP FX, the latency is very low, is easy to set up and use, and is quite affordable for what you're getting. And MOTU is pretty good with tech support and the drivers are very high quality. Can't go wrong, really.
    The only other thing I'll mention about using a MBP is that having a decent screen size can really help if you're using it live at gigs. I have the current top of the line 17" model and really notice the screen size difference compared to friends who have the 13" or 15" models.....there's a HUGE difference in screen "real estate" with the 17" screen.
    BTW, it's rumored that Apple will soon be announcing the next MBP models and so you may want to wait till the end of April before you decide to buy something.

  • What macbook  should I get to use for Mechanical Engineering

    I will be a engineering student at a university in a few months and need some help. I want to see what would be my best choice. I've been looking at the Macbook Air with a dual core I5 and a rMBP with a quad core i7. Any suggestions with SSD drive space as well, should I do a 256 GB or 512GB?

    Wouldn't you really need a system that is compatible with the school you are going to and the software needed for the classes you are taking? So it might be best to contact the school and ask them what type of computer best fits their systems.
    Storage is always a concern, more so then the CPU today, and the amount of RAM installed. With either model you are looking at none of those things can be upgraded after it is ordered and or bought. So Load up on both Storage and RAM.

    If you have exceeded your allowance of 5 machines then Apple will not allow you to authorise additional Computers. If you still have access to your old toshiba fire it up de-authorise it and then try again with the new computer.
    While this won't help if you are having password problems, I did want to point out that you do not need to access old machines to de-authorize them. Once you are signed in at the iTunes store, access "my account" by clicking on your username in the top navigation bar. Then "manage devices".  You can remove any old machines that way.

  • Should you get a separate iCloud account for each family member if you are sharing calendars and contacts?

    My husband got his first iPhone. We are now an Apple Family. We share contacts and calendar with our phones and computers. Is one iCloud account ok or should he get his own account? If he gets his own account, would it conflict with mine?

    3 accounts.
    1 for your you
    1 for your husband
    1 for shared purchases (the original if it already has purchases, as purchased content is signed with the Apple ID that it was purchased with, so it cannot be transferred to a different account).
    The individual account are for Messages, FaceTime, iCloud backup, bookmarks, etc...
    Settings -> iCloud
    Settings -> Mail (if you use your Apple ID for you mail)
    Settings -> Messages
    Settings -> FaceTime
    Settings -> Game Center
    The shared account is for purchases
    Settings -> iTunes & App Store
    Settings -> Music -> Home Sharing
    Settings -> Video -> Home Sharing

    Hi,
    I am trying to add a calendar to another using account using powershell as it will be easier to make a script than logging in to each user and adding the calendar. Has anyone done this before or know how to do it.

    Are you asking about Outlook or about Exchange?
    In Exchange you can likely do this via EWS.
    Here is how to do this in Access but has to be done under user account:\

    Under EWS it is similar but can be done by impersonation.

  • As a student, should I get the Air or the Pro?

    The thing is that I have a Macbook Pro. I got it in 2009 and it is definetly starting to show its age. The battery lasts anywhere from 30-70 minutes when not plugged in. I have to end nearly every Safari session with force quit. The volume quality is terrible and my trackpad is starting to die on me. Genius Bar won't replace the battery because there is apparently a stain on it. Very silly.
    I get tired of lugging my Macbook back and forth to school. So, I was thinking of getting an Air for 1) the weight 2)The battery life. But I hear that Mac Air isn't very powerful. For school, I would need to have Bootcamp installed on my computer because a lot of programs I use aren't mac compatible. (I'm a Management Information Systems major. It's half Computer Science & half Business) This year I used Visio and Oracle SQL Developer. I'm not sure what I will need for upcoming semesters. Will an Air be able to handle these programs? In addition to that, I do the regular stuff: Write a few papers, check emails and facebook, Youtube, web-surf, and watch television online.
    I was thinking I would save my Pro for Sims and use the Air for everything else. I'm a student and a future Apple employee so I'm hoping that I'll get some good discounts. So my question IS, should I get another Pro (I could move everything over to the new comp and donate my old one, but it's soo heavy!) or get an Air (I'd keep my Pro for sims and use the Air for school. But Airs sound very weak!!) What should I do??
    And this is my first post so please be nice
    Thanks to all that reply

    I have a mid 2012 MBA and find it very capable.  The 1.8 GHz Core i5 processor seems to handle everything quite well.  For your school work I think the MBA is your best bet.  It is capable and light.  The MB Pro tends to weight quite a bit more and really isn't that much better unless you get into the very high end units.  One caveat, the MBA does not yet have the Retina display.  If you feel you wil need that, then the MB Pro is the only laptop to go for now.  The MBA may get the Retina display in the future but until them (who knows when) there isn't much of a choice.  If you go with the MBA, make sure you get the best processor and memory you can afford.  I find the Core i5 processor is quite capable and 4 GB RAM is sufficient.  For your school work that should be fine.

    In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account.  The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
    Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

  • Want to get email on PC & Note3 but when Note3 on, cant send password on PC - says [IN-USE] account is locked by another session

    I have email ([email protected]) on my PC that always worked fine. I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note3 and put my email on it too. Problem is that when my Note3 is on, I cant login to my PC email - I get this message: "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server mail.charter.net responded: [IN-USE] account is locked by another session or for maintenance, try again."
    How can I configure Mozilla so I can run both? I know it's a Mozilla problem because when I go through the internet on my PC (not through Mozilla) and login, I get my emails.

    go through the internet to your Pc! How exactly do you so that? and get your mails without Thunderbird again how exactly.
    And finally have you asked charter how many connections to their mail server your allowed to have at once? If it is one You have a serious problem.
