Should I get Motion 5?

Considering getting motion 5 but just checking that it has some essentials for me.
1. Colour removal on clips and replacing with background, basically for greenscreen stuff
2. Adding animations to clips, not just for adding titles, but importing gifs or animations too lay over the top of the clip.
3. Addition of at least 2 sound layers at the same time, for having many sound effects and music at the same time.
4. How much better is it than iMovie?
Help appreciated.
Thanks

jamden, motion 5 is a genus program though at the present Very Slow. We are running this program on a mac pro running 14 gig and the video card is an ATI Radeon HD 5870 one of the biggest for this machine , running at 64 bit with snow lepoard 10.6.8    2x2.8 Guad Core Intel Zeon ,,,,,,,,  and still she drags. But at the price range you can't
beat it. There is something it can be used for, but for heaver projects, she needs alot of grouth. My councel is to buy it for the 50 bucks and give it a go and see if it can meet your needs. Theres enough in it for 50 bucks to help some at this point. So hoping they upgrade the matrics because it can become a monster program in time.

  • How to get Motion Tracking Mode to work?

How do I get "Motion Tracking Mode" to work?  I click the icon and nothing happens, its like greyed out.

    scouterbsa
Here is my check list for you to review regarding using Motion Tracking Mode in Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 7 64 bit.
    1. You need a video and with enough motion in the object in it to track it. Color contrast between the object and its background can be important to success.
I created a DV AVI 4:3 in which I have a circle moving, and I have used a butterfly Clip Art from Premiere Elements 10 to track to track the circle as it moves in the video. In this example, you see the object only at 0 time.
    2. Select/highlight the clip on the Timeline. And then click on the Motion Tracking Mode icon above the Timeline.
You should next see the following Motion Tracking dialog asking for a Yes or No to the question "Run
Auto-Analyzer to track moving objects?" Click No.
    3. At this point, you will see a bounding box on screen. That bounding box should be placed using the mouse cursor on the object
that is going to be tracked, in this case, the circle. Resize and position the bounding box accordingly.
    4. Once you have the bounding box on the object and resized, click on Track Object at the top right of the monitor.
The screenshot below shows only the before clicking Track Object at the top right of the monitor.
When that action is finished the bound box edges will be an orange yellow color. I have skipped over a screenshot
    for the latter.
    5. With the orangel yellow bounding box in place, next drag the Clip Art (in this case, Butterfly 02) from the Clip Art display area toward and into the orange yellow bounding box frame. The orange yellow bounding box frame will turn blue. That is the first sign of success.
Hit the Enter key of the computer main keyboard and watch the results. The Butterfly should track the circle's
movement in the clip. The duration of the clip and the continuity of the object's motion in the clip can be  other factors.
If you do not succeed, try again with a different video clip (one with more movement and color contrast.
The above is a best case scenario. If it is speech bubbles that you are having problems with as well, we will deal with them next.
Right now it seems like you are having problems getting started rather than having a problem with a specific Clip Art that you are
using to track the object in your video.
We will be watching for your results.

  • Can't get motion to open on Macbook Pro

Sorry guys, I haven't seen all discussions, but I just can't get motion (and live type) to launch on my new Macbook Pro. Final cut does work (as does DVD SP, Soundtrack Pro, compressor). Tried everything, New installs, new OS 10.4.10, everything. Crazy problems. Anyone an idea? Thanks in advance! Here's a logfile:

    hi,
Motion does work on a macbook pro, coz I'm doing it right now! Do you have the intel version? Think it should work on older versions though.
that log file looks like it is trying to find the server for registration, for After effects? Not sure that has anything to do with Motion not booting up.
have you done the usual trashing of preferences and pList files?

  • What kind of graphics card should i get to run final cut pro x on my 2008 mac pro?

What kind of graphics card should i get to run final cut pro x on my 2008 mac pro?

Hello Andres. I own an Early Mac Pro 2008, and have had the blessing of using both FCP X & Motion 5 for some time now. This is a pritty open question and it depends on your usage and the throughput nessesary to handle your work load. I can share what my set up is, & it may help you deside if this is enough power for you or help you move in another direction. Keep in mind that the buss speed and cpu are a big part of helping FCP X more so than the video card, although the video card does come into play here as well. Now if you are wanting to run Motion 5 as well, the video card is Almost Everything, and you need the biggest and best situation here that the throughput on this system will except. I'm running 14 gig of system ram, and the video card is an ATI Radeon 5870. For FCP X, running 1920x1280p footage optimised in pro-res 422, she can move along with some render time nessesary when dropping on the timeline, also filters, transistions, titles ex, have a bit of a laps time to render, but then she runs ok. This wait is not as much of a challenge with this set up as with Motion. I need a much bigger gpu on the video card for this app. Not sure if this computers throughput is really worth the upgrade. Beleive this though, Motion is demanding on using ALL you can give it. It is a Genious App, and it also calls for ALL THE POWER YOU CAN GIVE HER IN A VIDEO CARD. Conclution: if you are just starting which it sounds like, even a smaller video card than this can work For FCP X. Make sure you have at least 8 gig of cpu ram. 12 or more will help here. Also make sure the card is OpenCL compadible.....& this is in the thread above,,,,,,,,

  • What display should I get for my macbook pro?

Hey Guys. I think this is in the correct section.
So I have a Macbook Pro (specs at the bottom) and I am looking to add an external monitor to use as a second monitor and at other times a screen for my playstation. I have never had a monitor before so not sure how big? What resolution? What ppi? HD, UHD, 4K? Someone said something about refresh rate. I have no idea what that is. None of this stuff I know.
Obviously I want the best screen I can have and I would connect my Macbook to it by HDMI using a Thunderbolt to HDMI converter and connect my ps3 to it by HDMI.
What is the highest resolution a HDMI/Thunderbolt can handle?
    What screen should I get?
Also I connected it up to my TV once and if I put my mouse at the bottom of the screen and then moved it onto my macbook screen it disapeared and didn't appear again until I moved it up and I don't want this problem
    How can i solve this?
All help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks.      Miles.

Lion is awesome, and if you purchased your MacBook Pro since June 6th, go here to get a free copy> http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/

  • Brand new Mac customer-should I get Lion?

    Hi everyone,
I'm writing because I'm looking for support.  I just recently bought my first iMac (it was between this or a Mini) after having my 4th PC die on me in 10 years.  While I already have the machine ordered I have been doing extensive research on what to expect with my purchase and one of the things I have been reading has been some compatability issues with Lion OS.  After having gone through several Windows upgrades myself I am nervous to be jumping into a new format all together only to find that Apple is going through an update to their OS (perfect timing I suppose).  That being said:
I apparently am eligible for the FREE upgrade to Lion with my iMac purchase.  Should I get it or stay with Snow Leopard?
I have the newest iMac out there that is the base model but includes 4GB of RAM and AMD 6750M graphics card.
I'm also considering the newest generation Time Capsule (2TB).  Will that work okay with Lion as well?
Also, last question, since I haven't received the Mac yet I want to make sure I got an okay model.  I was trying to pick what appeared to be middle of the road between a Mac Mini and the iMac line.  I'm not expecting to get it until tomorrow but am sure I can trade an unopened computer if  that's best.  Because I had a 23 inch monitor and keyboard/mouse with my former PC I had a hard time choosing.
Thanks for answering any or all of my questions.  Sorry if this message has the new guy feel.

Almost certainly if you purchased your iMac directly from Apple it will come with Lion on it already so you won't need to upgrade.
Time Capsule will work fine with Lion.
If you bought directly from Apple you have 14 days to return the computer, so if you are not happy for any reason they will refund your money. At that point you can decide if you want a different model or not.
I'm sure your experience will be a good one so don't worry. Reading in these forums sometimes can jade a new user, however please remember these are technical help forums that people come to when they're having issues and are not representative of the general population.

  • Excise invoice should not get created without PGI

    Hi,
I have a scenario where the billing document is being generated by the customer without PGI after creation of outbound delivery for exports. (This is as per customer's requirement - Copy control maintained in VTFL for the same - copying requirements 11 )
This creates a situation - excise invoice can be created without PGI - which creates problems for customer. This should not happen.
Customer wants a check during the excise invoice creation - excise invoice should not get created if PGI has not been done.
Kindly advise as to how this can be done.
    Regards,
    T Saravanan

    Dear Saravanan
    Two options are there
    -  in your existing routine itself, you can specify the control in such a way that unless the preceding document is PGId
    -  apply excise user exits like J_1I7_USEREXIT_EXCISE_BEF_SAVE to achieve the requirement.
    thanks

  • Excise Invoice should not get created without J1ID data for all material

    Dear All,
We  have a requirement that excise invoice should not get generated unless chapter ID data is maintained for all the materials in the invoice.( when there is more than one item and chapter id is not maintained for all the items)
At present excise invoice is getting generated for single item which has chapter ID maintained and  the items without chapter ID data are left out from the excise invoice. This results in an incorrect invoice.
We want to ensure that excise invoice is not created, unless all the items in the billing document have chapter ID maintained.
Kindly advise as to how this can be done.

    Dear Muralidhar, Lakshmipathi,
    Thanks for the solution.
I have been able to solve the problem using the user exit mentioned by you.

  • Should I Get an iMac, Macbook Pro, or iPad (3rd Generation))

I'm getting a new "computer" this summer, and I was wondering: Which Apple Device is right for me: iPad 3, iMac, or Macbook Pro? I realize WWDC is this summer (a day after I was planning on getting a Macbook Pro, June 10, which is my birthday) and Apple will be releasing/ unveiling their new products there. I realized that the iMac is more bang for your buck, but people are starting to lean towards portable devices, such as laptops over desktops, and tablets over laptops (mostly). I had planned to get a Macbook Pro (when the 2012 models come out) as of Sunday, April 22. But, as I realized that the prices for each are so different, considering their value, I realized this:
    iMac:
    "Land" - Locked
More Power for money (student discount)
Will last me longer (at least 2.5 years)
    Macbook Pro:
    Portable
Costs less (as of student discount)
    iPad 3:
    Even More Portable
    Costs even Less.
Considering these, which do think I should get by the following:
    Me:
Go upstate every once a month or so.
Going on vacation in the summer w/ family.
Do light gaming (Sims 3, Civ 5, Spore; not much)
Plan on bragging about being the only one in family w/ Mac (bring to relatives' houses to prove a point to my cousin that he's not the one w/ the coolest computer)
Lots of Word Processing (can use pages on iPad)
w/ iPad, I'll have more money to use on accessories (Step dad giving me $500 towards computer, I'll have $350 by June 10)
    Mostly do web browsing.
Want to use in school (high school)
If I get an iPad, I can afford to upgrade it every year, but not the Macs
Will be reading lots of books next year (will be taking AP English)
Lots of notes next year (Doing Government in Social Studies next year)
Will use iTunes U if needed
Need something to fit in backpack if using in school.
Not sure if teacher will allow laptops/ tablets.
Mostly do my computing at home
So what do you think? Should I get an iMac, Macbook Pro, or an iPad 3? Thanks! Best answer gets 5 ***** for the long reading!

Wow, using computers in school. I remember when I went, teachers flipped out if you had as much as a cell phone
A couple things I would like to point out:
1.) WWDC /=/ product releases. While it is likely, no one knows for a fact what will happen at WWDC other than usual events. I would expect it, but don't jump the gun and say "a new Mac will be launched at WWDC", because they have been released before WWDC.
2.) The iPad is in a different tier than Mac, IMO. I believe iPads should be supplements to PC's, since if troubleshooting need occur, you must still have a PC to restore. (Mac is PC). So say if you suddenly go into Recovery mode, you will be stuck until you find a PC to restore to. One downfall of iOS devices, so for that reason, I will not recommend the iPad alone.
If you plan to do most of your computing at home, I would get the iMac. I am a college student, and plan on replacing my Macbook Pro (selling it) with an iMac if I can afford it. I agree with you on the "bang for your buck", but even then, iMac is still pricey. With $850, you're still shy $300 of the $1149 price w/education discount. If you want to upgrade your processor (which I would), that's even more $. Plus, software if you need it.
What exactly are you going to do with a Mac that you cannot do with a Windows PC (outside of just using the Mac OS)? The playing field is leveling out quite a bit. But, if you plan on developing of any sort, get a Mac.

  • How big of an External Hard drive should I get?

I have a macbook pro, and I'm looking for an external HDD to back my system up to. Now, lets say that I have a 250 GB HDD in my Macbook, should I get a 250GB HDD external drive to back up to? Or will that fill up too quickly?
I guess my real question is, does Time Machine compound backups on top of eachother? If my 250GB drive is filled to 100 GB Capacity, will my 250GB external drive be full before three backups? Or does TimeMachine severely compress the backups?
    Thanks!
    Psych

Time machine doesn't do compression, but it does only save changes.
This means that your first backup will consume the same amount of space as your source data.
Then each subsequent backup copies the files that have changed since the last backup. Some applications may support backing up specific parts of files, otherwise TM will copy the entire file even if just one bit changes.
Therefore the amount of disk space you need depends on:
    1) how much data you're backing up (bear in mind that most people don't TM their entire drive, just their personal data)
    2) What percentage of those files change on an hourly/daily basis
    3) How large those files are.
So if, for example, you work mainly with text documents and you have 50GB of data in 50,000 files (average of 1MB per file) and you change 100 files per day your backup will consume 50GB to start, and grow by 100MB per day. Under this model a 250GB TM drive will have about 200GB of space for incremental backups (250GB - 50GB initial copy), which is enough for about 2,000 days, or several years worth of changes.
On the other hand if you work with large video or graphics files, and have 50GB of data in 50 files and you change 3 files per day you'll still start with 50GB of backups but your backups will grow at 3GB per day. That way your 250GB drive will fill in about 2 months.
Only you can determine your data pattern to predict your needs. Personally I use a TM drive that's about 2x my internal drive. I have almost a year's worth of backups and it is still less than 1/4 full.
